Brand new spot in rio rancho... science nerds will walk in and be amazed! Those of you who flunked high school chemistry will cringe! From a former high school science teacher, I walked in and was ready to perform experiments and immediately looked for the safety equipment lol! All said, I loved the decor! And the openness! Was a bit loud but that's expected. The wide open space and large chalk walls are available for kids... Met the owner and brewmaster, and was good to hear the story of the place... good to see the owner mingling ! Now... the beers. There are three house beers and two ciders on tap. We tried all of them. They were all decent beers and ciders. The ipa lacked character and needs some work. The stout was good... a little on the crisp side, and the cherry cider was good... I don't usually drink cider but according to my boss... ahem... wife... it was good. The Amber was the stand out of the group, and was a good neutral beer with some Carmel aromas. The don't serve food but they have food trucks. You can order local and surrounding area food and they'll deliver. Overall, it was a good first experience... there is room to grow and based on our convo, I think that it will... I look forward to the next visit. read more

The Brew Lab just opened recently, it's really a nice atmosphere. When the weather allows, they open the doors to the patio. A really nice neighborhood feel. They do not serve food at Brew Lab, but they do have food trucks that frequent there. You have the option of ordering from the local restaurants in the shopping center or you can bring food in with you. The beers, IPAs & ciders are pretty good. There's pretty much something for everyone. They are pet & family friendly. There's a huge chalk board for the kids draw on. Definitely walking in for the first time I got the Breaking Bad nostalgia vibe. The lights above the bar were inside of large scientific beakers. The walls had scientific notes to give you the sense their brews are down to a science. The logo even reminds you of the great Breaking Bad show. All it needed was Heisenberg! The floors had an orange color similar to that of the under ground meth lab they cooked in. Every-time you ask for a sample they bring you a small beaker. The Sassy Brunette Amber ale had to be my favorite of their own brews. They had a small selection of their own taps and filled in the rest with guest breweries. I wish they would have a larger selection of their own home brews. I'm not much of an IPA guy so I steered clear but I have to say the Amber was my favorite. They had a band playing and food truck outside serving brick oven pizza. I tried the pizza it was pretty good! Overall I am very impressed with this place, the environment, and the brews. I am definitely coming back. I wish the grower would've been a large beaker like the ones on their lights, I would've bought one! The staff was so welcoming and friendly, the Wicked Pissa hazy IPA was delicious, and the atmosphere was cool. But the part that knocked it out of the ballpark was what sets this brewery apart from the other 7,521 breweries in the ABQ area: Cider Cocktails, y'all. Game changer! There are about 10 on the menu & they do a new specialty cocktail every week. I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan, so right off the bat I was excited to see that this place had popped up in Rio Rancho (out of all places!). As soon as I walked in, the huge chalkboard wall caught my attention - it has the science of brewing beer written all over it, which provides an interesting read. The place is the perfect size for a brewery with both indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the Jane's Addiction, which was a deliciously fruity pomegranate cider. While the place is not outrightly affiliated with Breaking Bad, its provides a cool atmosphere that reminds you of Walter and Jesse's story. read more

Staff and service was GREAT! Not a lot of bells and whistles, but worth a try and I would go again. We went for opening weekend. They definitely have a Breaking Bad theme. There are a few tvs, a patio and small stage for performers. They have a couple of their own brews and cider along with keeping other local beers on tap. We always stop in here. It is a very nice group of people who own this business. They will take the time to sit and have a conversation with you at anytime. The bartenders are fantastic! They are friendly and keep on top of the drinks when empty. They food trucks are great. Sunday NFL ticket is fantastic to have when we stop in for a couple cold drinks. Had the hazy IPA - absolutely fantastic!!!! It's fruity, full, & deeply flavorful. One of the best local examples of the style. It was our first visit. I received a sample of the cherry bomb cider in a beaker that was rimmed in someone else's lipstick. Not a great way to start. Our daughter has been dying to go hear. We went on a Friday evening and met there are 6 pm. We were able to get a table right away. It did fill up quickly. A lot of table space was marked reserved. We ordered pizza from the food truck on site and that was pretty good. There is a corner set aside for kids. My daughter knew about this because she called and asked before bringing her two kids. Personally, I do not feel that a brewery should be a kid hangout. It quickly filled up and became very crowded and VERY NOISY. The ceiling just seems to echo the noise. We were 4 adults at a table and could not even carry on a conversation without a lot of leaning in and talking very loudly. Half the time, I gave up even trying to hear what was being said. We could not even carry on a table conversation. No food is done on site, unless a food truck is there. A waitress from another establishment brought a menu to our table, from a restaurant in the same strip mall. I found the cleanliness questionable and the atmosphere just not a relaxing place. read more
