The food was good. The service was pretty good as well. Really chill ambiance and family friendly. I got the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese and it was good, but really heavy. The goat cheese salad looked good and the Starr burger was amazing looking. The hush puppies were more like croquettes however just by the way. We are full time RVers/digital nomads and this is the 2nd time we've done an overnight Harvest Host stop at this location. When we come through this way, we make it a point to make a stop. Here is what worked: The food is unexpectedly delicious and way beyond 'bar food' The green chile stew. What???!!! So good The lot for RVers is ample and easy enough to maneuver around in. We have a pretty big rig 44'. The beer (we had a flight last time and really enjoyed it) The outside patio for dinning The reservation requesting, communication and approvals...easy peasy Their online app to order food Their extensive menu What does not work; ( if you're not staying the night with Harvest Host, this may not even apply) The street noise is pretty bad. It doesn't keep us up, but it's loud until late at night with sirens, street racers, etc... I can't tell if this is not the best part of town or not. You often see FIVE O around and every now and then a random loiterrer? We've not had any issues, these are just observations. The field where RVers park is dusty and unlevel. Partially shaded sunset facing patio (assume dog friendly), long bar, long pub tables and regular dining tables. They have pub style food from their own kitchen (with chili cheese fries)! Service was great and the environment was what you'd expect from a taproom. Brewery on site seen through a window next to the bar. Very beer forward place. Both were good and would get again, but we also want to try other items. My bf had the buffalo wings, and I had the tortilla burger. He enjoyed the wings and said they could have put more sauce on them, but they were cooked well. The tortilla burger looked better than it tasted. Happened upon this place and I am glad that I stopped. They had a Porter on tap. It wasn't very busy so I was able to grab a spot at the bar. Good amount of room inside and covered seating outside. We were in the heights doing errands yesterday and decided to stop by to grab some lunch. We arrived a little after 12 and sat at the bar. We had great service and really enjoyed both our beer and food. Hubby got his usual Starstruck IPA. I opted, after sampling, to enjoy the Italian Pilsner, Starrphire. I really like the Italian Pils at both Steelbender and Ponderosa, but this one was even better. Good balance with a hint of floral notes. We decided to splurge a little and got the Poutine Burqueno and added added the carne adovada. The fries were hot and topped with red Chile, Carne ardovada, green Chile, jack cheese, and garnished with green onion. The poutine was delicious and the serving was huge. We were too full for dessert but the seasonal special was chocolate lava cake with ice cream which did sound really good. The televisions here are tuned to sports and there are several around the bar and seating area so if you want to watch something, there is a TV visible. read more

Being from out of state, I would have never even found this fantastic restaurant if it wasn't for my "Harvest Host" app! Being a motorhome owner, it's not always easy finding a "stop for the night", but with our HH we found Starr Bros! I ordered the Wedge Salad, with the promise from my wife that I could order a side order of their Beer Battered Onion Rings with smoked garlic dressing! OMG, that was the best Wedge Salad that I have ever ordered, and what a portion! But seriously, the Onion Rings were "to dye for"! They were absolutely fantastic! My wife ordered the Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, and it was so delicious, but huge, and she has enough leftovers for another meal! The service was really good, the beer I ordered was very good and the cleanliness and over all atmosphere of Starr Bros will definitely have us coming back if we are ever in the area again! Went for dinner a few weeks ago, food was very underwhelming. Ordered nachos and tacos, nachos were corn chips with canned cheese, a few beans, lettuce and tomato. Had to ask to get some jalapeños. Even chat GPT knows nachos should have some sort of spice, and especially if you're in NM. Tacos were on tortillas that seemed stale with hard edges, and again, no salsa or pico with the tacos. How disappointing that this business does not answer its phone such that a large group can't make a reservation. That is the major theme of this review. Thirteen of us arrived at 3:30. We put three tables close together and sat waiting ... The ONLY server on duty told us we needed to make a reservation. My response was, "I tried. I called and got an automated message saying that if I wanted to order food to use the website." So the server, who was overwhelmed, told us it would be at least 15 minutes before she could take our orders. We are a patient bunch and were willing to wait. We even cleaned our tables. We were also told not to go to the bar to order drinks. We sat obediently and when our server came to take our orders she asked if we were all on one check. I said NO and I just knew she could not handle giving multiple checks so I asked the group if we should go elsewhere. They said yes, she did not protest and actually SMILED as we got up to leave. We left and went to Tin Can Alley 2 miles away where we had a great experience. I was so DISAPPOINTED that we were unable to experience Starr Brothers food and beverages. I also recognize that businesses are struggling to find help. And I do try to be honorable and give the business a heads up when we are planning to arrive - but if they don't offer online reservations, and they don't take reservations over the phone then what am I to do? I hope management reads this and takes steps to fix these issues. read more

When it was too cold for a hike, we stopped in for a beer to warm us up We picked this brewery because their expansive tap list, boasting unique sounding beer flavors, and their cocktail menu (for our non-beer loving SIL). I ordered the bizcochito stout (which came with a cookie on top!), my hubby the hazy double IPA, and my SIL a margarita. I enjoyed the soccer theme of the bar & the holiday table decorations..that was about it. Arriving mid-day on Friday afternoon, the place was not too crowded but obtaining drinks too a very long time. When the drinks finally arrived, they were very flavorless- nothing matched the description everything was plain ale, plain stout, and a watered down margarita. We walked here from our hotel on Tuesday night an hour before closing. They had already closed the kitchen and were closing early, the bartender brought us a beer list and served us one. Tonight (Wednesday) we decided to walk and try the food. We again sat at the bar, I asked the bartender (who I think may have been one of the owners) if I could have a beer list and a menu? She pointed at a video screen at the end of the bar and said they are there. She then said food menus are at the end of the bar. Wow, how lazy can you be? We ordered chips and queso, Chips where stale and the queso was slightly better then canned. I ordered their signature burger, green chilis, aioli sauce, bacon. I only had one beer and no food, so I can't really say too much. I came to Starr Brothers Brewing for a Moonlight Makes event, where you make a craft with people at a brewery. Super fun. This event we made sugar skulls, we were set up in a nice area and had a dedicated server, Alex. He was pretty attentive, jovial, and made sure that we had what we needed at all times. I had the Pumpkin Ale, it wasn't too pumpkiny, I didn't get a strong flavor of it. It simply reminded me more of a spiced beer, but the flavors weren't very pronounced. I should have tried their bronze GABF winner, but I did not. The GABF medal shows they have some good beers on tap, I just will have to try a few more. Bottom Line: Good spicy food. Decent prices in line with food quality and other eateries around town. Inconsistent staff response times. Very loud! Top Line: I had a dinner of nicely hot green chile spiced cheese sauce over fusili pasta interspersed with extremely tender chicken chunks. I got it with a side salad that was properly chopped (for once) accompanied by a fair vinaigrette. UpNot a meal to realign reality for you, but certainly good enough for the price. I tasted a spoon of a friend's green chile stew and it too was nice 'n spicy. The pork was quite tender. So the food was a four star affair. A fellow diner ordered a large nachos plate that we shared and it was quite tasty. It easily garnered unanimous votes of approval from all who partook of it. A bit of dockage for waitress being slow bringing requested items (extra napkins, water refills, etc) on subsequent trips to our rather large party (approx 20 seniors). Which is to say that she forgot & it took a couple/few reminders to get said items. I do give her credit for remaining friendly while working diligently at attending our party on a pretty continuous basis. But an extra server for our party would have alleviated her load & hopefully improved her retention span. Also, some dockage for an environment that was excessively loud, even for a brew pub sports bar. The very very high ceiling (same as ceiling height in adjoining brewing room I assume) and hard smooth reflective surfaces surrounding the cavernous room created a resounding echo chamber that served to amplify the ambient sound, making conversation labored. I do intend to make a second trip to Starr Bros to try their Biscochito Stout and will try them at mid-afternoon to see if the environment is a bit quieter. But as an evening dining venue, I gotta give them a pass. read more

Server with pink streaks in her (Felicia?) took 15 minutes to even acknowledge us. She finally acknowledged us and we got to order some beer. Okay moment of truth, is their beer worth their terrible service? Nope! Beer was flat. Had to send it back to get another and again... FLAT. I'd also like mention that there was a couple who sat next to us a little later and got served within 5 minutes. During this same time, they were even busier. Not sure why this server seemed to have it out for my sisters and I, but it was noticed by all of us. I'm not trying to take things personal by no means. It was a sad little thing that wanted to be a sandwich when it grew up. $14 for a thin piece of dry pork and two slices of deli ham possibly 1 slice of Swiss on a very tiny hogie roll. It's ok at night, better during a chill day than a heavy weekend late night. I stay a block away at Comfort Suites. It's an easy walk there and hobble back. The seats are severely hard. Take your stadium seats with you. The staff is mostly kinda snobbish and inconsistent. The kitchen closes too early. The food is subpar with great ideas but poor execution. We went in with high expectations from new reviews. But it was a bit lackluster. All the staff did, after 9pm, was gossip at the bar. The Red Zepplin is a very nice American Red Ale. The menu looks great but there are no late night eats. Unfortunately, I catch them when the kitchen is closed a lot. I want piggy pops, poutine burqueño, and truffle fries. With more attentive and mature staff, more variety and better culinary practice, more comfortable seating and colder a/c, it would be my goto place while staying nearby.
