Why oh why are you located in Grand Rapids? I adore you so! From the pictures already on Yelp I knew I was going to fall in love with this place upon arrival! And it happened, I am in love. What a cool space in a little village looking area of Holland. It is decorated very tastefully with the nautical theme and very conversational seating arrangements. There are some seats by a fire, seating in the windows and seating along the brick wall! Their tap list was stellar with so many beers to choose from. We ended up getting two flights so we could enjoy as many beers are possible. Even getting two flights which are presented on fun handcrafted boats, there were still probably 20+ more beers on the menu. We came on a Sunday, which was a super chill, not busy vibe. (it is before Holland gets busy for summer so it was nice to enjoy with hardly anyone around). We chatted with the bartender who was super helpful. She told us about how they are expanding into the space next door so that they can hold events and use it for overflow, etc since it gets very crowded on a Friday or Saturday she said. I am in love with your business, keep rocking!

This is such a gem find! Located just outside of downtown Holland in a little area called Washington Square, this hip, urban, classy sweet spot is perfect for drinks with friends of all ages. Tons of different beers on tap to choose from for the college crowd as well as wonderful specialty cocktails for me and my crew, all set in a sunny, upscale atmosphere! The owner is sweet and knowledgeable too! Love finding these treasures! Try the mule!

Great place, came here a couple times with friends, very relaxing, tonight they had music, just a wonderful place to relax. Scott is so nice, he is one of our favorites. I belong to a wine club and we love it here. Thank you for giving Holland a nice hang out!

The Twelve Beers of Christmas... Lovely in front of the warm fire.

I love this neighborhood bar/pub for its atmosphere. Just think, a gathering place for adults who like good beer, wine & spirits without being assaulted by TVs or loud music! The owners Carrie & Chris are so nice & don't mind hearing feedback; the bartenders are all friendly and very knowledgeable. Five stars with no reservations!! (Even the restrooms are clean & have a friendly vibe.)

Great beer selection. Quiet, refined space. Especially nice on a snowy winter evening. But still great on a sunny day. A gem.

When my Food arrived I requested to have my fries remade since they were NOT HOT & had most likely been sitting under a light ( is my guess ) for a while. After 25 minutes fresh fries did arrive but as you might imagine now my sandwich was COLD.I asked my waitress ( who was lovely in every way!!!! ) to please send a manager over so I could express my frustration. The manager was apologetic & comped my food - but fun fact,I now had a cold sandwich with hot fries. Literally one was switched for the other. Although I appreciate the slight concern, it would have been nice to offer me an altogether HOT meal complete with everything HOT at the same time.Am I asking too much? I didn't get a meal that day- just some hot fries.....& actually the thought of this still annoys me. Please consider the entire meal & remember,I came to EAT not "negotiate " 1/2 of a HOT meal. We had to go around the block multiple times before we found a space behind the parking lot behind the restaurant. When we got into the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night. There was a short waiting list that moved pretty quickly. The main reasons for going there was to try their James Beard award winning Trumpet burger. I also ordered an amber ale that was pretty good. It was good but coming from Chicago there are several burgers that I feel are better. Places like Au Chaval & Little Bad Wolf to name a few. My wife ordered a Mediterranean style pizza. Again coming from Chicago the pizza was very average. How can you compare this to Pequods or Lou Malnati? Hops draws a large crowd and really packs the people in. They have a good lively crowd w/a nice selection of food & beers. It was an enjoyable meal in a very crowd friendly. As someone with celiac disease, eating out can be stressful, but when I informed our server, he immediately reassured me that they take cross-contamination seriously and ensure a safe meal. While they do offer outdoor dining, we opted to sit inside, and the service and food were fantastic from start to finish. To drink, I started with the kiwi pineapple margarita--they offer multiple types of rims, and I went with sugar, which was delicious. The summer sangria also sounded amazing, but I stuck with the margarita since it was guaranteed gluten-free. For food, we shared the ricotta with gluten-free toast, and for my main, I had the Beyond Burger on a gluten-free bun with a side of chips that were confirmed to be safely gluten-free. Finding a place that is this accommodating, knowledgeable, and delicious is rare, and it made our trip so much better!

Anyway, we got in closer to 6, no reservations on a Monday night and we were immediately seated. I ordered a Sauvignon blanc from France. In his usual fashion, my husband ordered a beer on draft that was out so he had to quickly find an alternate. I ordered the red snapper with za'atar spices, roasted carrots and risotto and my husband had the tortelloni and added salmon. I loved the meal. The fish was well seasoned and prepared to my liking. Flakey and not overdone. My husband, on the other hand, had said that his salmon was overcooked but did enjoy his pasta and ate almost all of his food. He left the thinner piece of salmon as it was dry due to being overcooked. Service was quick and to the point. Not very friendly but satisfactory as far as delivery was concerned. The place had some cool decor that made me think of a Mediterranean vibes. Where we were seated had some high ceiling but was concealed with some nice trellis and some fake vines around them which gave it a nicer touch than just high ceilings. Overall, we did have a good dining experience.

Our waitress was really nice and overall service was quick. We ordered the Lemon Chicken and the Wedge Salad. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is mainly because of the chicken dish. I was expecting it to be more citrusy, but I feel like whatever lemon flavor it was meant to have was lost by some sort of sweetness. I think the Meyer lemon butter made the dish was so oddly sweet it mixed in with the rice underneath. Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!
