My friend Olivia and I met up for dinner recently at Seventy Six and had a nice time. We had a reservation but it was pretty early so it wasn't needed. The space is a bit rustic and feels more casual than the menu might suggest. The food is kind of new American with some Asian-inspired twists. We started with the crab rangoon - I loved that they use real crab for these, but they were not quite as light and crispy as I would have liked. Still, a nice app to share and I liked the sauce. I ordered the Thai steak with noodles, which I was assuming would be a steak with noodles on the side, but it was really a noodle bowl like drunken noodles. It was pretty spicy (spicier than I might have expected, but perfect for me), with a generous amount of tender steak that was cooked perfectly. I found the noodles to be a bit undercooked, so they were a bit too chewy. When I reheated the leftover noodles the next day, they were perfect. Olivia got the salmon, which had a bit of an Indian vibe with tikka masala spices and toasted naan for crunch. I had a bite of the salmon and enjoyed it. I also liked that they ask what temp she wanted the salmon cooked to - a nice touch. I'm glad I got to experience Seventy Six and would come back in the future. Street parking was pretty easy right in front, and we stopped at their sister bar, Obstacle No. 1 for a drink after dinner.

I came here with my friends for an early dinner and omg we were so impressed! We actually walked in the first time at 3pm and they still had their lunch menu so we left and came back an hour later for the dinner menu to start. They even saved our table for us!! Everything was so good! Get the short rib and the truffle fries. I got the lemon chicken rice and it was ok, something was oddly sweet about it. Honestly I would have been content with just truffle fries and a Caesar salad (I didn't try that one tho) but go here if you're in holland!! We also got dessert and I would skip the crème brule. The restaurant itself it giving millennial vibe but you just have to overlook it for the food!

We came here for dinner on a busy Friday night. We were thankful that they took us without a reservation but we had to sit in the back private dining room (we were asked if this was ok). I'm glad I ate here but they can easily improve the private dining area if they changed the decor and paint. It felt a little bit like we were in a forgotten area and I don't think I would like this area for private dining. They just need to make it feel more open and hip. For dinner I had the "really good lemon chicken." I thought lemon chicken would be a lighter dish but I was very wrong. This dish seemed unnecessarily heavy and oily. The chicken was breaded and fried? The saucy rice was soaking in cream, oil, and cheese. Tasted good but I paid for it later with a massive stomach ache. My husband had the white fish. He enjoyed his dish. The crème brûlée was just ok. I would probably skip it.

My favorite spot in Holland for a nice sit down restaurant that still feels semi-casual. I order the lemon chicken every time I come here - chicken is always cooked to perfection and the lemon risotto rounds out the dish. The whitefish crab dish was very unique and full of flavor! Definitely stop by and give these dishes a try!

*Note: I wrote this review in July but am just now posting it. I'd give my regular experience a 4/5, and my other experience (see below) maybe 2.5/5, so I'm averaging it at 3 stars Finally got to try this place out at the end of July. We are having our rehearsal lunch here in Sept. for our wedding and I wanted to try the food out beforehand. We started with the goat cheese and wild mushroom queso, which was excellent! Albeit a bit pricey ($18). We split the regular grilled cheese with tomato soup and the chicken club, because we are offering both at our lunch. My only complaint was that water and soda refills were a bit scarce. ----------- Rehearsal lunch, 9/14/24: we had a lot of issues, all of which I've already communicated to the restaurant. The big problem was that they assigned ONE waiter for our group of 30. Smaller issues were that we only had 26 chairs, so they had to add some; our group wasn't supposed to be ordering alcohol, and the waiter started off asking what cocktails/other drinks people would like; and they ran out of food items that were supposed to be on our menu, like the creme brulee. All the food, however, was delicious, which was the saving grace. But when you arrive at 2pm and you don't get salads (3-course menu) until 345pm ... That's not great. Billing was also incorrect. I had budgeted a certain amount based on my conversation with my contact; it was about $500 over that; and by the time we got the restaurant to correct it, it was about $200 over that. The room itself, in the back, is very nice - just get everything in writing. For example, we were told it was $75 to rent the room, which is very reasonable; on the bill it said $175, so we had them correct it. The best part... My husband talked to the waiter and he wasn't even supposed to work that day. So I'm not sure who would've been working our room, otherwise. Eventually more servers straggled in, to help serve our group, but the lunch ended up being 3.5 hours, which is nuts.

Fabulous walleye tonight. We were able to get a reservation at 7 PM for four. Service was very good. The only negative for me is the dim lighting.

Collapsed meal.

I would not order take out from Seventy-Six. This is the third time we have had an issue out of about maybe three different times of take out meals. Last night, a salad was never recorded so we were short. We were given the wrong fish entree. It was a salmon dish withOUT pork for a pork abstaining patron. We received the salmon with pork. So that patron needed to find another meal at home. On top of which, this dish was at the bottom of the bag and collapsed in on due to poor packaging, When called back today by Seventy-Six, we were told we were the ONLY ONES that had issues with take out. Either that is a lie, or no one bothers to call and try to get the issue corrected because no one wants to go back to the restaurant when everyone else is eating their meals. Oh, and we heard the owner took this order. He could not have cared less, with his lackadaisical attitude he messed up, and did not care to fix it. Previous problems (2 previous orders), ordering a salad with salmon added (never received the salmon - that was suppose to be my meal). A refund in the way of a gift card was issued. The other issue - I ordered brisket entree and received a sandwich brisket and soup. Neither of which were gluten free so I had to figure out a different meal for myself. I believe a gift card was issued then as well. Food may be fine when it is correct and people can eat based on dietary restrictions, but three screw ups and the refusal to correct a $33.00 before tax mistake means we have given up on the 1983 suite of eateries. P.S. I also do not like how the owner is against a living wage for employees. Something to think about.

Only good things to say about Seventy Six! Living in Chicago and having a ton of fine dining restaurants, Seventy Six brings Chicago to Holland (in my opinion). The best fine dining experience and food that I have had in Holland hands down. Ambiance is great for a date night or some cocktails. It is moderately noisy but a good vibe. They even have a private back room you can reserve for events. Food: Had the brown sugar salmon - had a bit of a kick to it. The whitefish was amazing, highly recommend if you are a fish lover. Also had the pork chop that was prepared perfectly and the presentation of the food was on point. Reservations are recommended on weekends! We will definitely we back.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup

While we were in Holland recently, we decided to check out a new restaurant, since we don't make it down there often. Based upon my diligent Yelp research, it looked like Seventy Six was the place to go! (Yelp never leads me astray ) We didn't have a reservation, but got seated right away at the bar. (It was a Saturday night, so you know. Probably make a reservation.) For drinks, Derek got an old fashioned (he's in his whiskey era) and I got an espresso martini (I'm in my espresso martini era). The drinks were great, and I bet this is ~the spot~ to stop and grab a cocktail in Holland. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crab Rangoon. 10/10 would recommend. This was really the star of the show I had a grilled cheese and tomato soup, because I would probably order off the kids menu for the rest of my life if I could I was actually super excited to see the grilled cheese was made with American cheese. This is how I always had them growing up (shout out to Kraft singles) and usually restaurants try to fancy them up by using different cheeses, but this one was classic. The tomato soup was the perfect creamy complement. Derek had the Lake Michigan Walleye sandwich. This wasn't as amazing, but we're not huge fish people. The fish didn't have a ton of flavor (because it is fish) so I would've liked more sauce on the sandwich. Overall, we loved our little date night here

Crab-crusted whitefish

This was a place I was excited to try based on the high reviews! It's got a nice, modern atmosphere with plenty of natural light and was not too cramped. Breakdown of the food we tried: - Tomahawk pork chop: it was medium well as opposed to medium like I ordered. The meat was kind of tough and chewy with a lot of fat/gristle in it. The bacon hash was delicious: each shred of potato was crispy and delicious. This was probably my favorite thing from this restaurant! The sauce for pork chop was good at first, but quickly became overwhelming after the first couple bites - it was heavy on the cloves. - Crab-crusted whitefish: the crab was a great complement, the crispy onions provided a good texture contrast, and the horseradish cream sauce was not too strong like I thought it would be. It would have been nice if it came with veggie or starch...this felt like an incomplete entree (it wasn't a very big portion, either). - Madeira chicken: the Madeira flavor was overly strong, but the chicken was cooked well (not dry). - Short rib: the portion was kind of small, but it was melt-in-your-mouth tender and had good flavor Overall, I'd say this place is decent, not great.

We came here after blueberry picking with friends. It was a beautiful day and they have high top tables right in their large folding open windows. It's a great ambiance inside with a modern and causal upscale feel. It was a busy Saturday lunch rush and we were fortunate to snag a high top table for our party of 8 plus a high top high chair! Everyone ordered different things ranging from the sandwiches to the house special and in general, everyone was happy with their meals. Fries were plentiful. The one down side was that it took 45+ minutes to get our food - and when you have a toddler, this is an eternity.

It's next door to their sister restaurant, Lovejoy. Walking in, the space is very dimly lit with a nice bar and some cozy seating. We were directed to a couch and a couple of low chairs. The menu is organized into different "chapters," with different themes for each chapter. They also have beer, wine, spirit-free options, and a spirits list. I wanted something fun, so I chose the Don the Beachcomber, a rum-based tiki cocktail that is flamed tableside. My friend got the Obstacle No. 1, which is a bourbon drink that they smoke at your table. Very theatrical and fun! These drinks were $20+ so pretty pricey, but worth it for a fun occasion. We had a nice time just relaxing and catching up. I would say it's not a great spot for a large group, but definitely a fun date night place. They have a small food menu of offerings from the restaurant next door that sounded tasty. We had just eaten but I'd be interested in their small plates. I'm so glad I got to experience this place. We dined al fresco for our visit and had such a lovely time. Our server was Landon and he was training a new server, so they made sure to pay good attention to us, aside from how busy it was that evening. One slip up though was that we had to grab our silverware from the bar cart because we hadn't gotten any and we hadn't seen them in a few minutes. We got this meatball dish as an appetizer and that was probably my favorite part of the meal. The sauce was just so savory and delectable and the meatballs are a good side. I also love being able to mop up the extra sauce with the toasted bread! Then for our main course we both got pasta dishes. I don't remember much about them already because they were just fine, nothing to really jump for joy about. One of our dishes had lots of peppers on it, which is always nice. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that with the weather being nice, there was a surge in business so things might not have been top notch. I'd certainly come back again if I visit Holland any time in the near future!

We are so glad we did! We loved it so much we returned our second night, as well! First, while many places closed at 9pm, Noble Twist closed at 10pm. Second, the hostess and bartender were welcoming, kind, and professional. Third, the ambiance is clean, modern, and open. We loved the classy, but not pretentious, vibe since many of the other spots in town have more of a dive-bar vibe. We sat at the bar to watch games on the TV, but there were plenty of tables with chairs, as well. The drinks menu is fabulous! I got a different cocktail each night and loved both. First, the Partridge in a Pine Tree. Second, a Dirty Gin Martini. Both were flavorful, high quality, and boozy. My husband tried the IPA the first night and the Pilsner the second. He loved both! Best of all, prices are reasonable for quality beverages! The menu also had wine and food, but we did not try either. Next time! Noble Twist Taphouse is our new favorite drinking spot in Saugatuck! Every time someone opened the door, I felt an icy blast of air on my back. My server was Kelly G, an incredible young lady who went out of her way to make me feel welcome. Just when I considered leaving the establishment, she suggested a risotto which she would personally tell the cooks to make it gluten free. The risotto tasted ok especially with Sriracha. Kelly then suggested the gf turtle torte which was amazing. If it hadn't been for Kelly going the extra mile for me, I would have had nothing for dinner that night because there simply aren't any gf options in Holland for dinner. I gave her a 25% tip because she was awesome. I hope the restaurant understands that it isn't enough to say that an entree is gluten free if it doesn't have wheat - it also shouldn't be cooked in the same contaminated pan or touched by hands that have handled other products.
