Just went here for the first time yesterday. It was perfect and so unbelievably welcoming that I kept forgetting I was in a public place. I just moved here from Southern California to the condos in downtown. I've been longing for a place to hear the background noise of delicious coffee being made and locals going about their daily business so that I may cozy up in a chair with a book or my laptop for hours on end. This is Brewed. EXTRAORDINARY pumpkin waffles (get a side of bananas too!) + heavenly peppermint lattes. Prices are amazing and the staff is so genuinely friendly and seem to be "at home" themselves. One of those places that everyone knows your name. I was amazed by how the small entryway could fill up with lots of amazing 'Couverites & other customers. People dig this place, & I quickly learned why. Not a lot of seating downstairs, but head upstairs & you have free rain. Nice coffee & sandwiches. I had the mango melted ham on ciabatta bread & it had the right amounts of flavor & crisp from the bread. Is it the best sandwich in the world? If Brewed were in Portland, I would probably give it a 3 because competition is stiff. Since its in downtown Vancouver, I have to say it's above average based on other coffee shops in the area. I've been here twice. First time I ordered a kombucha on tap. Major stars for having it on tap, negative stars for it being luke warm. The employee said the fridge door wasn't closed all the way the night before. Second time my boyfriend and I shared a latte. It tasted like.......a latte. Nothing special to me, however I am not a coffee enthusiast so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Next time I'll be back for the ambiance and pastries! read more

This place is awesome. I first came here for what turned out to be a really really horrid date, but finding Brewed made it worth it. I First off, it turns out BDG (bad date guy) and I have different ideas of what "on time" means. I tend to get places early and he was a good 20 minutes late. The guy working were very friendly and talkative while I waited. Since I was waiting for someone, I ended up taking the bench next to the door. It turns out most people in downtown Vancouver have an issue with closing doors. The barista/owner/great random dude was a champ about rushing over to make sure the wind tunnel effect was killed as soon as possible. The coffee was wonderful, strong but not bitter. Just the right amount of vanilla syrup in the latte and pretty impressive beginner foam art. I didn't try any of the food. after BDG showed up I didn't want to do anything to prolong our time together. But the food options seemed great for late night hunger pains without going to crazy with typical grease soaked pub grub. I've been back once and know I will be back again. read more

Adore this place! Such great decor, creates the perfect atmosphere for a coffee date, breakfast, lunch, dinner, glass of wine pint of beer, Sunday brunch w mimosas and waffles! Had a glass of Penetration wine and a ham and Brie panini which were both deelish. Got to sample homemade clam chowder made by grandma ( who is the sweetest looking woman) redonkulously good soup! This is a super friendly casual hangout w amazing quality ingredients like Killer Dave's bread! The menu is extensive I cannot wait to try everything. I've never seen anything like this place in Vancouver so lets all do our part to keep this family run and operated joint afloat. Check it out you will not be disappointed :-) I might just head there right now. Ok and few days later since posted yet have tried the BLTA....perfecto! We love it. From the first time we were friends with John who offered us a nice Barbera. We had a taste and bought a bottle. Took it up to the loft and ate a great sandwich and my wife had a smoked salmon salad that was "fabulous". We have been back a number of times and every time met great folks from Vancouver. Artists, Politicos, and other local notables. Great place to engage with others and or hang out have a quiet chat. Come for lunch and taste the soup. The place seems tiny when you walk in but you can find more seating upstairs on the balcony. Plug into the wifi and enjoy the super friendly service. Nothing about this place made me want to come back. The food was nothing special and my sandwich was thrown together it almost felt like i was eating leftovers. Even though the food was bad the worst part was when I left my clothes smelled like food for hours. Hopefully management can whip this place into shape because it's a really nice space. Just as Panera and Chipotle have become the masters of fast-casual dining (an in-between of full-service restaurant food and the convenience of fast food restaurants), the atmosphere of Brewed represents a genius combination of quality coffee shop atmosphere and casual city sports bar serving high-quality, unique, rotating tap selections. There are usually only 4 craft microbrews on tap, but this isn't the sort of place to go if you want a $2.50 pint of Pabst. Their taps include beers you've probably never heard of, and if you're a bang-for-your-buck kind of person, you're in for a nice surprise. Their pints are of delicious taste - all $3.25 per - so you're getting an amazing value in trying something new with which you will most likely be satisfied, especially if you're a moderate connisseur of beer. And yes, they do growlers. When I went in, I was looking for a cheap snack to tide me over. What I got, for no more than $3.75, was a delicious grilled chesse panini on Dave's Killer, WITH chips. I was full, and the incredible price on the pint of Hop Venom (10% ABV) had me wanting to stay. What's more, the owner/employees went OUT OF THEIR WAY to be friendly, get to know me, and learn my name - regardless of whether or not I was likely to become a regular. They are informative, experienced, and educated in what they do, yet relatable as well, being down-to-earth guys who are still learning and growing in their careers. I've yet to try their house-roasted coffee, but I've heard they make an excellent cappuchino. Overall, an A+ experience and I will definitely be going back for more. read more

Theses folks have never missed. I come down here once a month and with the time between travels you would figure there would be a change in regime, chef, style, etc. but no. Steady as she goes. Mom in the back, dominating the food into exquisite creations. Today I asked if there were any specials and the answer was "not yet". I asked for the Chipotle Chicken sandwich and they added a cup of black bean soup with cheddar on top and after a few comments back and forth the guy looks at me and says "that sounds like a good special to me!" I had discovered this place during the Drink This event with friends earlier this year and immediately fell in love with this casual sports bar meets coffee shop for its friendly down-to-earth owners (though it may have had a little something to do with the fresh baked carmelitos and the delicious coffee). Guys. Believe the hype! Stop here and take a moment to enjoy some delicious sandwiches, coffee, and fantastic service!! My family and I were driving from California to see our cousins in Mount Vernon, Washington. We had been driving all night, and after failing to stop at several breakfast places I had picked out, the siblings were getting cranky-hangry fast and they were not lowering their standards. Tough crowd to please folks. Luckily Yelp saved the day once again when I found Brewed! Conveniently right off of I-5 and even though it was in downtown Vancouver, it wasn't too difficult to park. We were greeted by very friendly staff who made us feel very welcomed and taken care of. After ordering sandwiches and coffee and tea we headed to the upstairs seating lounge to wait on our food. (Thanks to the nice man making our lattes for letting us know about the upstairs seating area!) it came out pretty quickly and we were just as quick to dig in. Sandwiches come with a side of chips or you could swap for a cup of soup (my sister got the clam chowder). Everyone loved the sandwiches and my brother couldn't stop raving about the vanilla latte (and he's a tough critic). Basically, I would easily make this my regular spot if I didn't live in California. Sadly, I can't travel ten hours to do my hw and enjoy a fabulous cup of vanilla latte. It's great to find a cozy little place where the service is as good as the coffee. You're more than just a misspelled name on a paper cup at this spot. My latte was perfect and the owner was nice enough to bring it upstairs for me. It was somewhat noisy downstairs (sounded like people were having fun though!) so it was good to escape upstairs to get some work done. I'll definitely be back! I have been doing a coffee shop crawl the past few weeks as my house is having work done and can't not leave a glowing review about Brewed! Their food is great and their service is amazing! And I'm particular about stellar service. Coffee to start the day, kombucha on draft with lunch and a beer to round it out before heading home. The rest of the crowd upstairs is generally working at a computer or in small groups while downstairs is a more talkative crowd who have stopped in for a quick bite or coffee and paper. Also, I just learned that dogs are allowed in certain areas. I would give this place 6 stars, if I could! read more

I love this little place! I highly recommend the bjaCC sriracha melt. Its exquisite!! The staff is very attentive and they do a good job making sure your drink is full. It certainly has a unique feel to it which makes it worth visiting. The menu isn't super packed with stuff, which is good for people like me who have an extremely hard time choosing what to order. Overall I would give this cafe 4 stars. The interior design gives off the hipster vibe but without all the insanity of say a voodoo donuts. The food tastes good and the portions are decently sized. Coffee is pretty weak but decent flavor. The staff however is extremely friendly and they am to please. Definitely not a pick-me-up-morning-coffee place, but it is great for students needing to study or a casual date. Very inexpensive which is awesome! read more
