Great product and food, slow service...took them over ten min to get me a bagel with no one in the store lol

The location and atmosphere are very charming but the coffee and service were a little on the disappointing side. The young lady who took our orders struggled to answer our questions. I believe she was new to the job and I will give her credit for being enthusiastic and doing the best she could to help us. The rest of the staff seemed annoyed with her and weren't giving her much assistance. Perhaps it was too early on a Saturday morning for them... maybe they needed a few more shots of espresso to help them wake up. It took a VERY long time to get our lattes. The food was pretty good but the lattes were not worth the long wait. Not in a hurry to return. read more

After spending a day at the James River, we stopped by here for a quick lunch. Their sandwiches are so tasty & the coffee is amazing. My boyfriend and I had the chicken salad sandwich and the Virginian sandwich (both were amazing btw). We also got to try their iced mocha and iced latte, which were both flavorful & strong- just how we like them! I love Brewers! It is so wonderful to have such a great place to relax and have some fab coffee. I love the fact that Brewers supports Richmond City schools (Wu-Tang sandwiches -- which were phenomenal!) and local art (the hip hop coloring book). This is how I became acquainted with The Well Gallery. My son is an artist and his style is very urban; great inspiration. For great coffee, good ambience music and lovely people, this is the place. I am so curious if the uber eats will deliver to me! My boy and I would love some coffee at will! Keep it up. Manchester needs you and the businesses with whom you partner. This area had been pretty rough; I mean rough when I lived there years ago, but taking it back, like these businesses are it fantastic! First time here and I must say I was somewhat disappointed especially when considering the reviews this place has received on Yelp. I love the vibe here. Great spot and very charming. The male cashier and the young lady making the sandwiches were very nice. My issue was that they were out of croissants which I would have preferred for my breakfast sandwich (turkey, provolone, and egg) instead of a bagel or sourdough. I went with the sourdough and the sandwich was tasty and very well made. I also ordered a regular coffee and they were out of Stevia so I had to use sugar which for a diabetic is less than ideal. I wish they would offer Splenda or EquaI as options in the future. I will go there again when I'm in the area and hopefully they will be in stock on all their food offerings and condiments. read more

I finally decided to head over to Brewer's for lunch after hearing my Yelp friends rave about it and after reading the news stories. I chose the club w/ chips and a strawberry green tea. Both were very good, but I don't think it hits you how good it is until hours after you leave. I'm typing this review and thinking to myself, "I could probably eat another club sandwich today." The cafe is very cozy and I really liked the puppet on the wall. Because of the news stories, I know the owner has a kid and the kid was there today and he is probably the most adorable kid ever and he alone should get this place five stars. I will also add I was worried about parking at first, but when I got there it was no biggie as there is plenty of street parking. I can't wait to go back and try new things. read more

My husband and I tried Brewer's yesterday after seeing the rave reviews on yelp and I just have to say, it was all true! I got a cold brew with vanilla and it was so smooth and flavorful with no bitter aftertaste! My husband (a self-proclaimed coffee snob) was also very satisfied with his coffee as well. I highly recommend Brewer's to anyone who loves good coffee and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be stopping again the next time we are in the area :) read more

Exactly what you're looking for when you Yelp "Café's near me." Not a lot of gimmicks, just the simple stuff done right. Standard selection of espresso drinks, fairly simple sandwiches, small but selectively stocked bar, dirt cheap and executed flawlessly. Mr. Brewer himself was running the register when I came in. Besides being a chill dude he's investing in all the right qualities for a friendly neighborhood joint. The vibes are good, music not too loud not too quiet, tables not too crowded for date night or a lunch date. Came here for the fist time with a friend to get some work done. The place looked really cute. It's a bit small so if you want to come to study/work you should maybe go early to get a good spot. I got an iced mocha and a sandwich (came with chips) and my friend got a small coffee. Both the coffee and sandwiches were yummy. They also have a mac desktop that someone could rent for ($2 to $5) to get work done. $2 for regular use and $5 for design work (I'm assuming adobe suite). I think's a great feature for those who don't want to spend $20 a month for adobe suite but want to do some creative work. They really foster a creative environment. The service here is really what makes it stand out! Everyone was friendly and the owner (i'm assuming) even came out to greet us after he noticed we were new. Brewer's continues to be one of Richmond's best coffee shops--they nail the tastiness of everything they serve, and they're just as driven to make sure you enjoy being there. On the tastiness: Perfectly made cappuccinos are rare; I count just three spots in town where I'm sure to get one. Brewer's is one of those spots. My wife and I both ordered one, and AJ made each one individually. This is unusual, and much appreciated. It ensures that each will have the perfect ratio of milk to foam, and that they're blended with freshly-pulled espresso at just the right time. It's a detail, but Brewer's is all about the details. (Oh, and our blueberry muffin was great, too!) And the experience: I find that Brewer's is not just one of the most welcoming coffee shops in town. It's one of the most welcoming spots. Period. As good as it gets- a perfect way to describe a place like this. It's a coffee shop unlike most of its kind, making it one of kind. Closing at 6pm might seem frustrating, but so is drinking coffee late and staying up all night. I digress- Their club sandwich is famous for a reason. They have awesome donuts and homemade sweets and the staff and owner are the reason you'll want to stay long after you've finished your food and bev. When a place has five stars and over 130 reviews, it's gotta be someplace special. I'd say that all this praise is totally earned, and now I'll add my own. I've visited here twice now and both were excellent experiences. I consider myself a coffee "connoisseur", and Brewer's has some of the best, if not the absolute best, coffee in Richmond. I had a cappuccino both times, and both were equally amazing. Just about as perfect as it can get, from the presentation to the size and proportions to the flavor. Beyond the coffee, the atmosphere of the place is super chill. I really liked the art on the wall and the music. Plus, Brewer's doesn't have that snobby feel to it that other coffee shops around here have. They let the coffee do the showing off. Another major point is how diverse Brewer's is. It feels like everyone in the city enjoys the place when I visited, as opposed to only a particular demographic. They even had the "No matter where you are from, we're glad you're our neighbor" sign right above the door, which was awesome. Like many other reviewers have said, the owner, Ajay, is super cool and respectful. He was there both times when my family and I visited and even recognized us the second time. He seems like a great man and I'm glad he has realized his dream of living across from his coffee shop! I highly recommend Brewer's for any occasion. Truly a special place. read more
