A brief background; been in Chicago for about 15 years. Heard of Au Cheval back in 2015 or 16. Took a while to give it a shot and went; wait for 2 hours. Hmmmmm, didn't work out. Tried a second time 2 or 3 years later. Still didn't happen. Tried a third time when I had a friend visiting from overseas....wait time was just so long and just didn't have the 'desire' to wait that long. I think for the first time in my life, I had to kick myself as I wish I would have waited the very first time. Had my nephew visiting me from out of town. While I did want to take him to Au Cheval, with the limited time I had, I did not want to wait. I happened to go on their website and noticed that they now offer reservations. That was one of the most beautiful sights I had seen in a long time. Not only do I get to take my nephew out to Au Cheval, but I myself finally get to try the burgers here that have been the talk of the town and were rated the best burger in the United States of America for many years. My nephew absolutely devoured and loved the burger. He was in heaven. I cannot say I was not in heaven myself because the burger was absolutely epic, but that's not just what this review is about. This review is about one of the few joints in America that I have come across and that provided the level of attention to detail and went way above and beyond what I would have ever imagined in my wildest dreams to make this a memorable lunch. She had gone with my mother-in-law as well, so it was my mother-in-law, my nephew, and I. My mother-in-law is a vegetarian, and we figured we would go ahead and get the fries. What we did not know was that the fries are in beef tallow or have some beef seasoning (I forget), so in the end, she was not able to eat anything. My nephew and I just ordered each a burger. Our server proactively brought a house salad, which was vegetarian, and he said, "This is on the house. You guys enjoy the burgers." That, honestly, is a level of service that goes beyond usual service, but there was human empathy involved here. After a while, the head chef comes out, super friendly, and asks how everything was. He then says, "I heard you've been waiting 10 years over here, and I hope it was worth it." He made sure my mother and I were comfortable, and he made sure my nephew was comfortable. The level of service and care here was very special, and I personally appreciated it from the heart. For me, it was a memory built with my nephew and my mother-in-law, one that is going to stick with us for the rest of our lives. Not to mention, I am getting hungry right now, so I need to make a reservation and go down there tomorrow.

When our orders came to the table, we were all PLEASANTLY surprised at how beautifully stacked and dressed our burgers were. A triple stack of patties, topped with cheese, bacon, a fried egg, crispy onions, and housemade pickles?! That's a recipe for delicious success right there! The Wolf Burger was indeed SCRUMPTIOUS! My goodness, I am still thinking about it two whole days later and how I can't wait to revisit this restaurant and try some more of their menu items. An honorable mention goes out to the delicious fries on the side!! They were the perfect cut, well-seasoned, and out-of-this-world. I HIGHLY recommend Little Bad Wolf to all folks looking for a delicious experience! Brgrbelly is really a good spot and a great option when it comes to delicious burgers. I can still recall my first time here and was really amazed by their burger, but at that time, I also thought the portions were kind of small, but after continuously going here, I eventually understood and think that their portions and prices are reasonable for the taste and quality of their food. Aside from their burgers, I also liked their fries, specifically their garlic parmesan fries, which are hand cut and the flavor was great. What I like about their burger is that it's basically the same burger overall. They serve their house bun, and it is always fresh, as well as their patty, veggies, and everything else that they put on their burger. Every burger they have on their menu is great with different ingredients, but the same with quality and deliciousness. Also, their employees are friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick, even if sometimes the place is very busy. read more

Really, really enjoyed Leadbelly. Delicious burger, tasty fries, nice people and great presentation. I've read reviews comparing it to Kuma's. I think they match Kuma's on taste, quality and creativity. But I do find it to be a different texture of burger (a beef/pork blend). Delicious, well crafted and wonderful, just a completely different burger. So for me not interchangeable. But with Leadbelly within walking distance and their easy going atmosphere I think enjoying Leadbelly's creations will happen on a more regular basis. read more

Yesterday me and some friends discovered these guys right here on Yelp and decided to give them a try. We were all itching for some food, I was practically starving by the time we got there at around 2 pm. It was very full, so we decided to just order and eat outside in the parking lot. This place looked big from outside but the interior turned out to be pretty tiny. I had the black betty burger it was excellent. It wasn't the best burger I had but it really hit the spot. It was our first trip to Chicago and having read some great reviews about Leadbelly we had to try it out. There was a huge queue which is normally a good sign that the food is worth waiting for! It didn't disappoint, the burger was immense and nothing like the junk we get in England. The Leadbelly was incredible and the fries were amazing. In fact it was so good, we visited the 8th Ave store the following day! Don't let the long queues put you off, they soon rattled through the customers and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

We were told that it was the best burger in Chicago ... And it's true !! I recommend the burger Leadbelly burger is THE quintessential and why not a good hotdog to accompany it The setting is very nice in the Madison Square Park. You should know that it's a snack, so we eat out on metal tables. But not need more as the burger keeps its promises! I don't get to the Portage Park area often but this place is fantastic. I feel that since Kuma's opened up a few years back, Chicago has been on a unique burger journey. Some places have nailed it and some have missed the mark. Leadbelly has nailed it. They have a great menu and good beer selection. That's all you need. Perfect place for a quick bite! The service was slow, but the staff was very kind and friendly and very generous to their offerings. Great service but sorely disappointed that they do not have it BOLDLY printed that their burgers contain PORK. The "average" customer would assume a burger does not as well, most burgers are beef. Goodness. the burgers here are great and the kids love them too. It is a busy place so you now they are good. Better to pick up and take home if you have a big group . music is great but loud for small children. Great food and fun for the bigger kids and up. We eat here at least once a month now. This place has amazing burgers and great shakes. Personally I prefer kumas but this is definitely a must go. Their shakes have a bit of alcohol but are a perfect treat for a lazy Saturday evening. The guy behind the counter was pleasant to deal with. As I waited the dining area was medium sized with a bull mural on the wall. The flavor was on point, but the bun was chewy. The tomatoes were diced which is a nice touch because it allows you to get some with every bite. No poppyseed bun or celery salt. The dog was good, not great. The fries were very good. I would good back to try the burger. I received my food, it looked great.

The burgers are still great, and I've generally had positive experiences. However, during a busy morning pickup, the customer service felt disappointing. I stood at the counter waiting for my order while multiple employees made eye contact with me and walked by, but no one asked if I needed help or was picking up an order. One employee even handled my order without checking whether it belonged to me. After waiting for several minutes, I finally asked about my order. The response felt rushed and dismissive, with the focus being on how busy things were rather than helping a customer who had been standing there waiting. I completely understand that restaurants get busy, especially in the morning rush. My frustration isn't that the food took time it's that I felt ignored. A simple "We'll be right with you" or "Are you picking up an order?" would have made a huge difference. Instead, they thought I was an Uber driver that's why I was being ignored. The food is still excellent, but this experience left me feeling unwelcome compared to my previous visits.

That kind of service matters, especially when you're visiting a neighborhood spot for the first time. With its proximity to Comiskey Park, I'm sure Jeff's is no secret to Chicago locals. Nothing fancy or manufactured for tourists, just a longtime neighborhood spot serving really good food. Chicago has plenty of famous restaurants. The saurcrout on the everything dog was really good. Service was great and fast. Place was a clean classic hotdogs stand. I liked the old sports cart vending machine for a quarter. The bad The dogs are the smaller Vienna beef dogs for a 12.00 1 dog combo w fries and a small drink out the door. At that price point raise it a dollar and get the 1/4 lb dogs. The drinks were Pepsi products which i personally avoid.
