So i initially came to this place on a wing night, 25 cent wings every WEDNESDAY! The wings are really good and always have been, but this time I decided to change it up due to a recommendation from a buddy. My buddy tried the salmon in a separate occasion and has been raving about it for a while. I honestly found it too hard to believe seeing as how this is an Irish-American bar. He continued to tell me that it was the real deal and so i skipped the wings and opted in for the salmon. Let me tell you! Greatest decision i could have made. I always found it to be a good time, though the bartenders at night were a little slutty looking they still poured a mean drink (is it really necessary to cut a tank top to make it skimpier?). Brian Dempsey is on bell blvd in the middle of Bayside. If you drive it might take a min or 2 to find stretch parking. Otherwise the local bus are in bell so it's pretty convenient location. When you go it's a good bar with a good choice of tap beers. We Came here on a Tuesday and they have awesome specials on dinner - 2 for 22$ comes with a salad an entree with 2 side orders. You can choose between pasta chicken fish and a steak. Ordered the fish and the pasta. The food was actually decent. We happened to come when they were doing a karaoke night. That was pretty cool. Sigh..I don't think I'll come back. I really don't. It's not because the beer selection is poor (it's not the best), and it's not because the wings aren't good (25cents on Sunday but waaaay too dry and over cooked); it's because of the extremely poor service. I get it, it's Sunday afternoon and you have a bunch of patrons waiting on beers and food, but I'm fairly certain there were only two waitresses/servers + the manager/owner(?). Now the size of the place (it's cozy) may make that the perfect number of servers, but awful communication left me and my party waiting way too long whether it was for water, for beer or for the check. Having to ask an average of 3-4 times for everything, and then giving up when you realize you won't ever get one of your items will always leave a bad taste in your mouth. 25 cent wings are great and all and if you like Coor's Light (I don't know what's wrong with you if you do), this may be the place for you on Sunday. But even those deals can't make up for the experience. The buffalo wings were good, but the BBQ sauce wasn't at all. The one great thing about Brian Dempsey's is that they have Traveler's Pumpkin, which I have had trouble finding. If you like craft beers and the seasonal pumpkin spice, you should definitely get a Traveler's. I promise that you won't regret it. Maybe I'll try again at some point, but it's pretty safe to say that my Sunday's and my Mets games (LETS GO METS!) will be spent a block away at Safari Beach Club. read more

Bell boulevard is filled with plenty of bars, but Dempsey's will alway have a special place in my heart. The wait staff and bartenders just make me feel like I'm home. Food wise they're alway doing some sort of special- $15 steak, 50¢ wings, $1 tacos ext.. The wings are solid; classic bar wings. The tacos on the other hand were dry, and just not very good at all. My gym hosted a party here, and I was a little skeptical of their food at first, because usually food they offer at bars are just covered with grease and not much else. I used to come here a lot when I lived in the neighborhood - and I love a good local bar just as much as the next one, so when we were regulars, they noticed - which is great. decent food, good drinks, a nice IPA on tap. I haven't had any thing other than wings, mozz sticks, french fries (mmmmm) and their burgers. I gotta say, their burger is friggin huge, so if you're in the mood for a big, greasy burger, you're in the right spot. I used to come here with one of my buddies back a few months ago to start the night off on bell. It had decent beer deals on Thursdays. They had some decent deals like $3 buds/coors. Obviously not the best beer in the world but it's probably the best deal in the area. The service is good. Come watch the game and enjoy a beer. They even have a punching machine and an arcade machine if you're bored. They even have a jukebox and karaoke on some nights as well. The tacos were good for the price for $1 The wings were alright, for some reason the ones we ordered seemed tiny and not too meaty, despite the reviews I read about them being good. The sauce was had flavor which I liked and was not just spicy. A little on the dry side. Ordered some appetizer sampler they had which was alright for bar food, but looked a little skimped for the price. They were friendly and their gameshow thing was fun. They have daily specials and we were there on a Monday. $4 burger (each toppings .75) and fries (3 different types of fries to choose or u can get onion rings). Came here with my husband for a late lunch on a Monday and it was surprisingly great. Had a craving for some wings and they were just what we wanted, the right type of crispy and moist. My husband enjoyed his burger and I was very surprised at how good the penne ala vodka was (very close to what you would get at a Italian restaurant which I really wasn't expecting from a bar). We walked over to Dempseys after a dinner across the street on Cinco de Mayo. The crowd was a little young for my taste, but im in my 30's so what do I expect right. Lol. The manager Rey greeted me and my friends which was nice. The music was right up our ally. Saturday nights seem pretty packed there so go early if u wanna get a seat or corner. The beer selection is great and the drinks are good. The bartender with the long black hair and the guy with the curls were always attentive to me even though was really busy. Brian Dempsey's has to be the absolute worst establishment I've been to on Bell blvd. I came in at 3:30 and ordered two drinks with my friend, and the bartender was rude as hell. How does she expect to get any tips with and attitude. I set my drink down to step out and make a phone call, for my ride back, which took 5 minutes. Then, when trying to come back in, the bouncer said all exits were final. I exclaimed that my drink was untouched and I wanted to finish it; I paid for it after all. He looked in for a sec, and said no drink here buddy, barback must have tossed it. I didn't even take a single sip! What a waste of $15. I will never EVER come back here. No barback in their right mind would toss an untouched drink. The straw cover was still on it. There's better places to spend your money, and Brian Dempsey's is at the bottom of that list. read more

This past Sunday night while strolling Bell blvd with a friend, we stopped in Dempsey's for a drink. Both of us were kinda hungry so we looked at their menu. They gave us another menu of dinner specials which were 2 for 1 priced. It included a soup or salad, entree and side order all for $23 (for 2 Dinners!!) My friend ordered a steak and I ordered the filet of sole. Food arrived quickly and our entrees immediately followed. We were both blown away by the quality and the huge portions of our dinners for a bar!. It was excellent! My friend said it was one of the best steaks he's had in a long time! My entree was Delish as well. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive to our requests. We highly recommend this place and we also heard they have the best wings on the blvd. Let me start by saying I went to this place last night, Wednesday, July 9th. The special for the night was 20 cent wings and 3.75 on domestics (bud, bud light, coors light). Firstly, my greeting at the door by the manager was terrible. He approached me as I was looking over the menu and asked if I wanted a table. I told him I was looking over the menu and he said, "What, 20 cent wings are not good enough". I have a ton of patience as I have worked in restaurants and customer service in general for about 8 years so I just let it slide. As my friends and I sat down, it was clear the server was in a rush and when she stood their for more than 10 seconds, clearly that was too much time to and she left and had to run to another table. Busy or not, all she could have said was, "Do you guys need a few minutes"? Very simple question. Eventually she came back and we ordered. We split 20 wings (all different sauces) and I ordered the corn chowder special as well as the the Bayside Cheesesteak. After eating the wings I was optimistic about the rest of the food as the wings were meaty and the sauces were decent. Then came the rest of the food, starting with the corn chowder. First off, the chowder was not a chowder, it was straight liquid with some corn in it. Disappointing. Would not order it again. After eating the liquid they advertised as a "Chowder", next was the Bayside Cheesesteak. First thing I did was eat one french fry. Not a single ounce of seasoning on the fries whatsoever. Not really a huge deal and I'm not that picky. Took a bite of the sandwich and it was the most bland thing I have ever eaten. No seasoning on the sandwich whatsoever, the onions were not fully cooked through. The one positive I have to say about the sandwich was the texture wasn't too bad. The steak was tender and the bread was good. Overall, I would not order it again. My wife ordered their Mac and Cheese, which again, had no seasoning on it at all. The server asked if something was wrong as she claimed that nobody ever has a complaint about the Mac and Cheese. If that is their go to dish, that's scary. She was nice about it and took it off the bill. After finishing our meal, we get the bill and I notice there is 18% gratuity added to our check (a party of 4). I asked the manager why it was on there and he didn't know so he grabbed the server. She stated that since it is wing night and it is 20 cent wings, they normally do not make any money so they add the gratuity. I get it, we all want to make money, and if this is a policy for them, then let the customers know beforehand. But to clarify, of our $112 check, $4.00 was wings. It is not my problem that this place offers a deal for their customers. They offer 20 cent wings from a business standpoint, not for the benefit of their employees, so if you want to earn a tip, then do work the right way. I asked that the 18% be taken off. Now normally, if the server was nice and doing her job, I would have paid more than 18% because I understand what it is like to work in a restaurant. But bad food combined with bad service is a not a good mix. I am not sure if their food and service standards decrease because of wing night, or maybe I just ended up going their on a bad night, but I will not be going back there. I would not recommend this place, however, I employ people to make their own opinions as this is just my judgement based on my experience. My suggestion is that if you are going there, go for wing night and that's it. read more
