A lot goes into keeping the greens, and courses on Oahu, from having either being overly soaked, out or the opposite, becoming brittle and difficult to manage while playing golf. The fairways and scenery were really green and beautiful, for the full 18 holes. Upon arrival, the parking lot is semi covered by solar panels, and as you pull in, easy to navigate towards the clubhouse and proshop. Several options for hats and a few visors to choose from. Clothing and accessories are very affordable as well. The dining area served pretty good food. I was here for a tournament, so the food on the course was supplied, and also delicious, but I am not sure by whom. Friendly and helpful proshop staff as well! The carts were equipped with electronic GPS and never had any issues. I can't wait to play this public course again!

Only downside here is the incredibly loud noise levels from the adjacent HNL airport (the arriving aircraft literally are just a hundred feet overhead on some sections of the golf course) and the adjacent military base which was having constant practice automatic weapon fire drills during my entire 4.5 hour golf game. The parking lot closer to the restaurant has a limited amount of stalls, so I was glad I arrived on-time (and not 'casual' time), I got one of the two empty stalls by the tennis court and some of my friends had to park in a farther lot off to left of the restaurant. Parking is free. The restaurant venue was nice, mostly open-air, including the buffet, which I found a little dismaying with all the flies making a bee-line for the uncovered stuff. The food was one of the most disappointing things I have encountered - beef stew, beef with eggplant and some kind of chicken. Rice was a bit hard because it was left uncovered and dried out pretty quick. Salad looked like it came straight out of the bag. New England Clam Chowder was congealed and flavorless so I had to ask for salt. I don't eat meat or raw fish (they had poke) so I had to rely on salad, clam chowder and rice, which I normally would not mind (I love clam chowder), but the chowder was pretty bad, don't think I had buffet food at a golf course this sub-standard before. Desserts were a lot better; haupia, cake slices and small cheesecakes. The women's bathroom was air conditioned! Plus for that! The venue was just OK, the sound system in there was awful. Not sure if people hosting the event needed to bring their own sound systems or if it belonged to the golf course, but if it was owned by the golf course, they better improve on that! I could not rate this place a 4-star after going to the 5-star Oahu Country Club the next day.

Excessive rough not properly mowed. Bunker faced too full of sand so the ball plugs in the steep faces. Bunkers are watered so that weekend member play is either a plugged face or a middy hard packed bottom. The General Manager does not care about members. Instead, he is always looking for outside revenue. Members have no access to the restaurant on most Friday and Saturday afternoons and nights because of outside events. The General Manager has turned a private club into a municipal courses through outside tournaments on most Fridays and often on Saturdays. It must be nice to have the Jon security to take members who pay the dues for granted.

As luck would have it, the person who reached out and was available at the time was the head PGA instructor Oliver. I was a little unprepared (no clubs, no gloves), but Oliver was very much go with the flow and was able to accomodate me. He asked me what I wanted to work on, and that's exactly what we did. I improved immensely, because Oliver was able to quickly diagnose the main problems with my swing and explain in an uncomplicated way (without too many "swing thoughts"). I'm excited to go home and practice/implement the changes to my swing.

We were promised a certain price from the Mizuno Rep (Russ Chong) and he told us Oliver (Island Pacific Golf Academy) would bill us and call us when the clubs came in. A week before the clubs came in, our credit card was charged $400 more than the original price. I tried to get a hold of the Mizuno rep with no response and Oliver keeps giving us the run around. To this day he hasn't given us a refund. This was a hard and expensive lesson to learn. Don't do business with Oliver Oliquiano. From other reviews I've read it seems like he has a habit of ripping people off. Shame on him! Especially in Hawaii where the golf community is so tight knit!

I had emailed our food orders and never got a reply, and also called and left a voicemail to ask questions and make sure they got our order. I got a call on Monday May 4th in the evening that they were doing aeration at the golf course and it was going to be closed till Thursday. They just forgot to tell us. We had to find a different place to have the shower. No one had contacted me beforehand. We probably would have shown up to a closed golf course. It seems like it would have been a good resturant, but this interaction makes me not even want to try it. Whoever I spoke wasn't even that apologetic, and literally was like oh well you can try moving to a different day. This was just a disappointing experience and very poor planning on their part.

They were running a special for $225/player (normally $275) with a 10-day advanced booking. They need a credit card to hold the reservation and you pay upon arrival. We had a 10:50 tee time and everything ran on time and check-in was smooth. Once checked-in, you'll present your receipt to the staffer who will give you a small bucket of balls. They took our clubs at the parking lot stand and placed the clubs on our cart. We grabbed a few clubs and walked over to the grass range, which was in decent shape. The course is great for all skill levels because it's pretty wide open and very well manicured. The rough is cut down pretty low so even if you miss the fairway, you still gotta shot at it. Playing the blues, the course is pretty long but manageable. The greens were in great shape and bunkers were great looking, although luckily I didn't have to play out of any of them. While it's a well maintained course, I thought the layout was kinda boring and predictable. Lots of good views and photo ops around the course, although the course has minimal ocean views. We had some vouchers from our hotel which we could use at the pro shop but not the snack bar. We ended up with a couple of bag tags, ball markers and a logo ball (gift set) which they engrave your name in the bag tag which is pretty cool for $20 for everything. The rest of the pro shop is pretty pricey though. Overall, glad we got to play it. I think the price point is what would keep me from playing again, but it's hard to beat when it's less than 5 minutes from our hotel. We got paired with a great couple, shout out Chuck and Cindy who were also visiting. It made for a memorable and fun day out on the course.

It's affordable for us locals but I wouldnt bring out of staters here due to the up charge. It wouldn't be worth it.
