We used this place for catering a dinner for our family reunion and everyone was VERY pleased with the food. Everyone kept asking were I brought this amazing BBQ from! Ribs were fall-off-the-bone-good and had a nice smoky flavor. The brisket was also nicely smoked and juicy and the sides were plentiful. We were particular fans of their potato salad. I ate at Brian's on my first trip to Lake Jackson. The food was good and the portions generous.

This place is pretty good! I usually get the loaded baked potato with beef or a chopped beef sandwich and it's always delicious. I'm a sucker for sweets so definitely try their pudding or pecan pie!! The decorating inside is interesting and eye catching. They charge 25¢-50¢ for refills on sodas but the tea refills are free. Give this place a try! read more

I don't know, I'm starting to think the hype over Texas BBQ is being fabricated by the state tourism commission. Went and got my order of ribs, potato salad and corn to go. Place was completely empty (except for the two ladies getting their food to go, but was a Tuesday night). Nice interior and friendly service. Potato salad tasted like it came from a freezer. Decent flavor, but cold as ice. The corn was pretty tasty, but it's pretty hard to mess up corn. Ribs alternated between very nice and moist, to jerky like texture, to complete fat. I know there's the big debate about Texas BBQ and whether it should be dry rub or sauced. Well they are on the sauce bandwagon here. The 3 ribs were swimming in sauce, which I liked on the ribs, but when I mopped a bit up with the two pieces of white bread (traditional south BBQ, I know) it had an overwhelming vinegar taste. Always consistent. Good choice to use for catered events. Ribs are about as good as it gets. Pinto beans are really flavored well. Potato salad more like mashed potato salad. Chopped beef by the pound is a great value if you want to make a bunch of sandwiches yourself at home. The people that own this are first class people and run this place right. Bbq to me was bland. Got a 3 meat plate. Dude gives me a fat nasty rib. Not worth 15 dollars I can tell you that.

I've always been delighted to buy take-out from Brian's, never have eaten in. They're fast and they're friendly. I like the variety of options also--all barbecue restaurants aren't as flexible. I don't really have a lot more to say; I've always been very satisfied with the quality and quantity of their barbecue. I usually order a sandwich instead of a plate and again, they fill it well. Worst part about Brian's is just the location, for where I live. I'll tend to stop by when I'm in Clute for some reason. Now they've opened a satellite here in LJ and I've been going there for my fix. read more

Great lunch place for BBQ. I recommend the brisket, the ribs were okay, the brisket was awesome. As others have said it is caf style and there was a crowd the day we ate lunch. Service was quick and parking was tight. Give it a go if you have a chance. read more

I came her with my girlfriend and I ordered two ribs with a pulled pork sandwich with a side of green beans. My girlfriend had the brisket. We both thought that this was some of the best BBQ in Texas. The brisket was very moist and flavorful. The pulled pork sandwich was probably the best thing I've ever had. No lie. The ribs were to die for they are fall off the bone and sooooooooo good. Will be back very soon and often. No place better than this place. Highly recommended. read more

We never eat out of town anymore unless looking on Yelp. We depend on Yelp. Well we searched up bbq in and around Lake Jackson and decided on Brian's. Bad idea..........they close at 8. We walked through the doors at 7:35p. You would have thought we walked in at 8:05.....after hours. They were in full closing mode. Cleaning up the kitchen and very unhappy to serve us. We were rushed in ordering because we were interfering with cleaning and closing activities. Our food was messily packed up in to go bags and containers even though we fully expected to eat there. When we asked for plates to dine in........you would have thought we asked them to stay open an extra hour. The food was greasy and mediocre but the service was disastrous. We almost stopped at the Mexican Food restaurant a few yards away due to the packed parking lot but chose Brian's instead.....even with its empty parking lot. We'll not be back. read more

I came to this area to do some diving at Mammoth Lake. I drove from San Marcos, and got excited to see this place so near my hotel, especially since my father has a competition BBQ team and we live and breath BBQ, and his name is Brian! I thought it'd be a great place to stop at and get a shirt from. The reviews I read were either that our search for the best BBQ around would end here, or that it was pretty modest and the staff was rude. I heard that the place had a strong smell, and that wasn't of BBQ. I pulled up and agreed with them, then walked a few more steps and got a hint of oak smoke, then lost it again for something bitter. Again, not a huge deal.I walked in, and the first fellow who helped me was pretty cold and unhelpful, but that's not a huge deal. I did notice that they were cutting the brisket in the back with one of those deli meat cutters, which concerned me, since I always think that brisket should be a nice thick slice, around 1/4", maybe a little less for a sandwich. This was not thick at all. I ordered the brisket sandwich, moist, and two ribs with their sauce and some potato salad and some cole slaw. The next lady, the drink lady, was VERY sweet to me. I ordered some sweet tea which was pretty good, but on the sweet side. Cashier cashed me out, didn't make eye contact or speak to me at all. Again, if the food is great, I have no problem with cold employees! So, I go sit down and excitedly dig into the potato salad, which is more like mashed potatoes with a few chunks. Very buttery and smooth. Sorta a new take on potato salad. The cole slaw, though. I loved the cole slaw. It's the sweeter kind, so if you don't like that, I'd say to back away. The brisket was VERY dry and thin and fatty, and the sauce is a vinegary sauce, which I normally love, but this had some flavor I just can't identify. I'd suggest getting it on the side, because it is a very specific taste. The ribs were incredibly thin. I had no meat on one, and the other was very dry and the sauce overpowered the meat, which had virtually no flavor. The brisket was the same way. I would think that if it was a little thicker than a #2 cut, it'd have packed more of a punch, but I also rarely got the smoke smell anywhere near this place. I'd pretty well finished up as an elderly fellow on the other side of the room from me spilled his drink and no employee bothered to try to help him or even acknowledge him. So, I headed out sadly disappointed in what I had very high hopes for. I didn't finish my sandwich, polished off my cole slaw and left most of my potato salad. Generally without flavor, unless you like that specific sauce flavor they have, and pretty cold employees. Hopefully I just caught them on a bad day. read more

I walked in and immediately noticed all the folk art, Texan memorabilia and the smell of good southern cookin. I ordered the pork ribs along with a baked potato which I might add is huge! The food was perfect, came out fast, and we had very friendly conversation with the workers. All around great place to take the family for great food and lots of conversation pieces. read more

I have been eating at Brian's for a very long time, the food is excellent and so is the service, all of the folks that work there are very, very nice and friendly, sometimes they run out of ribs later in the day, so if I go in the mid to late afternoon I always call and make sure they have some, I always get the Tex plate and it has plenty of ribs and brisket for my little dachshund and myself.
