Dustin's is a great place for some really good barbecue. I really enjoyed the barbecue grilled chicken. The price was reasonable and the portions were huge. I still think about their delicious garlic bread too! Service here is good. Our server was efficient, kind, and patient with my elderly grandparents. Our food came out quickly, was served hot, and the orders were all correct. The ambiance does fall a little short. I think this is an older building, so everything feels a little run down. Everything from the tables to floors just felt a little sticky, which made me uneasy. The bathrooms also needed some serious scrubbing. (Middle section was cleaned rest is not, so if servers are responsible for their sections only one section is cleaning properly) Kept sneezing. Bathroom is gross. My shoes stuck to the floor, can see fecal matter on the toilet seat and the base of the toilets obviously do not get wiped Food is decent but took awhile to get. Apple sauce was spoiled. Tasted rotten. Must be old. We were the first people in, sat and ordered yet we didn't get our food till multiple tables were served. Service was kind, polite, helpful, and efficient. A solid 4/4.5. I don't know if it's because I was starving but everything was spot on. I can only leave my review for the pulled pork platter that comes with bread and 2 sides. PLENTY of food. I got beans and mac: The beans were full of flavor, mac n cheese was cheesin' (make sure to put them TOGETHER for the best flavor combo), pulled pork was tender & the garlic bread was devine. My husband ordered corn on the cob as a side and fries. Not very good- fries were cold and unseasoned & cob tasted like it was in a pot of water for hours. Tbh great food! Not once have I had any bad meals. Their meats are great although i find their brisket can be a little dry at times but overall not bad. On to the topic of service and my main reason for even creating this review. My sever Jillian was fantastic. She was courteous, respectful, and stopped by to make sure the food was good/if we needed anything else. Now...the lady at the register was quite rude. My family and I was pretty displeased with this as she did not even ask how the food/service was and that she silently demanded the check with an open hand extended toward me. I could understand that maybe she was having an off night or whatever but, that's no way to engage with a customer and sadly im disappointed by this experience because I would love to rate this place higher. Overall, this place is great for dinner although sometimes its packed to the teeth most of the times its a nice to sit down with friends/family and have a descent meal. We were in the area around noon and decided to give Dustin's BBQ a try. We'd never been here before, but the consistently full parking lot during lunch hours caught our attention, so we figured it had to be good. Arriving just before 12, we were glad to beat the rush, as the place was getting busy by the time we left. The dining room, salad bar, and kitchen area reminded me of the many Sonny's BBQ locations in the area. The layout was comfortable and familiar. We opted for the unlimited salad bar, which was well-stocked, exceptionally clean, and fresh. Kudos to the staff for maintaining such high standards. Service was prompt, and the salad bar offered a wide variety of tasty selections. Since this was our first visit to Dustin's, we're already planning to return for dinner to try their BBQ, which looked delicious. Enjoy! read more

Leaving here often for nearly the last 20 years. My wife loves the fried fish which is a type of tilapia. I like their barbecue. We always have great service. They recently reintroduced their ham and bean soup which we love. Servers are great. It's never been a problem getting seated even when it's crowded. So yeah, we like it. And recommended! read more

Just left Dustin's barbecue, it is the fourth time my son and I have been there for dinner. I have been happy every time we went there except for this evening. I ordered the smoked turkey dinner. The $15 cash you pay for the dinner will weigh more than the amount of turkey they give you. I got seven of the thinnest sliced pieces of turkey I have ever seen. the portion was ridiculously small. Been to Dustin's MANY times over the years as I am a DeLand resident. Ordered takeout on Monday evening, 4/11/22, to take to my daughter's place for our dinner. Simple order: 2 sliced beef sandwiches on garlic toast, extra side of fries. This was by far the worst BBQ food I have ever had! We got 3 - 4 thick, dried out gristly slices of cold beef. Bread felt and tasted like it was day-old; cold, dry, hard around the edges. If I was writing this review after any one of the dozens of other visits to Dustin's, it would be 4 - 5 stars. Dustin's is pure, old Florida. I grew up in Florida and Dustin's wooden benches, plastic tablecloths, and Florida style BBQ reminds me of my childhood. Make sure you ask for the hot BBQ sauce. It's a spicy upgrade on regular BBQ sauce. Dustin's is good - not great BBQ. With a fairly large salad bar. And kids eat free on Mondays. The service is good. Many of the patrons have been going to Dustin's for so long they are like family members there. Got the hot water in a thick plastic coffee cup, not in stone-freaking-cold stoneware, so thumbs up there. Ribs were hot, sliced pork and beef not so much. Baked potato was a honest oven baked and salted potato but... cold. Dang. Corn on the cob must have been in boiling water for like three hours. Mush. Dang. Service was great, food came fast. It used to be an old Sonny's barbecue. Nothing really has changed from that. The layout is identical the food is right on par with a Sonny's barbecue. The service was great, on my way just was very attentive and brought the food out extremely fast. This was not the best barbecue I have ever tried and it certainly was not the worst I've ever tried. In my opinion this is Dustin's shining star of all their locations. The service has always been great I have had conversations with the cook / owner in the back several times and enjoyed a few great samples of new offerings not on the menu. I understand how restaurants can get diluted when they open up new locations and try to expand their business and I have seen this with Dustin's it's really simple in my mind use this location as the training center for all you stores because this is how it should be done. Great place to grab some good BBQ for lunch if I had one suggestion its the way the meats are sliced they need to do it old school and crave it with a knife and retire the meat slicer. A group of us decided to try Dustins and we won't be returning. Although we received excellent treatment by the wait staff, the food quality was hit or miss. Those that had the baby back ribs or smoked turkey sandwich were satisfied. My medium rare cheeseburger came out tepid and well done the first time. They tried again. Twice! All three times well done instead of medium rare. I went ahead and bit into the third one and it had none of the flame-broiled flavor that I expected. I sent it back and switched to the pulled pork. It was no better. Large chunks that were tough, stringy and dry. I read other posts saying that Dustin's was on par with Sonnys, so we tried it. We decided to stop in late last night to grab a bite to eat and as soon as we pull up there's literally nobody in the parking lot we should've took that as a hint to not diamond but we did anyway being that we've never been here before. We sat down immediately and was greeted by a server we didn't order much but what we did order was 20 wings 10 Kasian which was a dry rub and 10 buffalo my kids and myself weren't able to eat more than two being that they weren't that very cooked and the dry rub was just overpowering. My son went with the shrimp and steak combo which for 2899 it's not worth it at all steak was chard and Rob and the shrimp was soggy. My daughter had the rib basket combo and some are surprise after waiting 20 minutes for the food the ribs came out cold and so did the macaroni and cheese which was the worst mac & cheese I've ever had in my life. Bad customer service? Check please. We were looking for a place to have date-night and had seen advertisements for this place for ages. We finally broke down to try it on a Tuesday early-evening, around 4pm. I wasn't expecting the place to be busy but I also wasn't expecting to be the only customers sitting down to eat. Upon entering, the server (named Kelly), was talking with a man named Marshall as if they were old friends. I was keen to try this place after seeing how the servers treated customers---friendly service makes me happy! Imagine my surprise that upon sitting, our server wouldn't even look at us. She looked out the window past our heads, didn't introduce herself, and only answered in the shortest possible way. I made sure to consciously say please and thank you and see if maybe my first impression was wrong. When we needed a second to look over the menu and she stormed off, well, then we realized that the rude service was going to be part of our entire meal. In the end, my husband and I decided just to get an appetizer and a drink. The pulled pork sliders were good but the pork was lukewarm, like it hadn't been microwaved enough. The hot BBQ was top notch though. I really liked that. Our server, Kelly, was incredibly put out that we didn't order entrees. I'll be honest--we're never, ever coming back. What made it worse though was her treating this other couple like they were old friends. I mean--its obvious she has some customer service skills but apparently we somehow personally offended her with our presence. I definitely wouldn't recommend and I definitely wouldn't be coming back.
