Received 7 wings(not sure why because it's not on the menu) had to go back to get my other wings. They forgot to give me the celery and I never received the lemonade. Understand that this place is in a bowling alley and that comes along with a slew of assumed risks & considerations, such as whether the food is safe to eat or if they have (m)any health violations. This is by far one of the dirtiest kitchens I've ever seen. Looks like something you'd see on Kitchen Nightmares. You can't not see how filthy it is, as the kitchen is exposed to the bowling alley entrance. I couldn't tell what had more junk & debris on it, the "prep area" or the floor! This is a top wing spot for me and my sister. Love their wings, fries, and Lemonade for the drink. Their wings are cooked to perfection and they have sauce options, my fave is Sweet Heat. You have to try the lemonade, it's top tier. Staff is always so nice and friendly. I order to go sometimes and I sit down inside. It's an old fashioned style place but love the mom and pop vibe. I placed an order with them through DoorDash and they have their delivery time at 30 minutes. It took over an hour for me to receive my food so several dashers dropped my order because they simply couldn't wait any longer and staff could not give them an answer on how long it would be. I personally called up to the store about 40 minutes in and the girl who answered had a rude tone and told me she can't help that dashers dropped my order and she still had time on my order because it's busy. The new dasher waited another 20 minutes from that call for them to bag my order. This is not the first time I have had to wait over an hour for an order and where the staff has been disrespectful because they did this at their past location as well. They truly need to provide their customers with a realistic time frame because I would've been able to get the same order I got with them with an actual restaurant within half an hour for less than the $80 I spent with them. For years, I considered the BBQ brisket at Rachel's as good or better then anywhere else in town. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case. The last three times I have been there (at the new location) the brisket has been dry and bland almost to the point of being inedible. The portion is still outstanding but that isn't worth much if it's not good. In the past it was always moist and juicy but not any more. I didn't post a review after the previous two unsatisfactory visits but three times in a row make it seem like a trend. Also, the fried okra has always been good as well. The okra I was served yesterday had lots of little tiny bits of breading and okra as if it had come from the bottom of the bag or something. Sadly, yesterday will be my last trip to Rachel's for brisket and fried okra. I will mention however that the the waitress, Skyler was super friendly and attentive. read more

If your stomach is rock-solid, this place is a hidden gem. Not just wings, but the bbq brisket is worth trying....huge portions. Plus the beans and coleslaw really good. And the wings deliver....with buffalo, lots of extra sauce provided in the serving for dunking. I would give zero stars if I could. Me and my husband ordered to go, our first time eating here. We wanted the food to be ready when we got there as we have kids under 5 who were very hungry. There was one other family in the whole place eating when we got there and we decided to go to a table outside to eat. One of the lady's working there came out and told me we were not allowed to eat there because we ordered to go. Gave the Wing Shack one last try just on September 28, 2021. Nothing changed from the last time. Small over cooked wings and room temperature dry chicken livers. I swore I'd never go back but my wife was hoping they would cook the chicken livers like she had eaten there a few years ago. No go! One time this place was the bomb! I had the single cheeseburger with fried onion rings. It was so much food and really well priced. Definitely a place worth stopping in Deland it's located behind Lowes and is a no frills small restaurant that is serving up extremely good food. It's a very popular lunch spot for good reason the staff is friendly and usually busy taking care of the working crowd. It can get very busy as stated in other reviews so come early or wait until the parking lot clears a little there isn't much room inside but there are some picnic tables for seating outside under a cover on the side of the building if you can take the Florida heat. The burgers are getting some recognition that appears to be replacing some other local favorites. I chose the BBQ Brisket sandwich and I must say its one of of the best brisket sandwiches I've had in years, Hand craved, very tender and moist with great smoke favor and lean. The only thing I could improve on is the roll although the roll was fresh I think the meat deserves a bread upgrade. This brisket would make the most succulent Po-Boy and I believe could get a following. The portions are enormous and the pricing more than fair. I don't see this place going anywhere so the local competition should take notice and up their game. I definitely will return. read more

Well I've been wanting to do this for a while. I always get the boneless wing meal with a drink. Hot Caribbean Jerk with Cajun fries. I keep saying I'm going to try the Cheese Burger but I just can't get past the boneless wings which by the way are 100% real white meat (breasts cut up). My husband and I decided to be adventurous this past Saturday night and try a new local place in DeLand. After combing Yelp I stumbled upon Rachel's and decided to give it a shot based on the great reviews. You may never know that this place exists as it's kind of hidden behind the Lowe's on International Speedway, but the crowd bustling in and out of the restaurant suggests otherwise. The girl behind the counter was a bit rude and the wait exceeded 40 minutes, but once our food arrived all was forgiven. My husband ordered a cheese burger, fries, and 5 of the honey barbecue wings. The burger was average, but it's not called Rachel's Burger Shack so that was okay. The fries were crinkle cut out of a bag, but the wings were really tasty. They were drenched in a delicious honey barbecue sauce that had a really nice flavor to them. I ordered the boneless wings mild. I was expecting 5 or 6 tenders covered in a thick sauce, but I received a mound of fresh cut chicken pieces tossed in a very thin sauce. The coating on the outside was thin and crispy and the sauce had a nice flavor to it though it was a bit too mild for me so next time I will order the medium instead. I got a side of onion rings which were a dollar more, but worth the up charge. They were crispy shoestring onion rings that were so delicious! Our meal came to $21 plus tip which is quite a deal for the amount of food we received! I highly recommend Rachel's, but would suggest ordering ahead and getting it to go. read more
