My friend recommended me to stay here. I planned my 2 nights getaway in November. Delightful place, but very pricy. They have good cracker & cheese snacks with apple cider. Very helpful front desk staff. Secluded and next to a creek so its really nice to kick back and relax. The property is beautiful, close to nature, has wooden rockaby bench swings, a hammock, some sheep, ... lovely. Bring some chopped apples so you can feed the sheep. Keep your hands flat when you're feeding them. I liked star gazing on the hammock at night. They give you a blanket for outdoor use which is nice. Our cabin had a fire stove/ furnace thingy. took a few tries but it was a lot of fun. Gets warm really fast, but once the fire goes out it gets cold really fast too. I like going and listening to the creek. I would go back again. read more

I am so thankful I made the decision to visit Briar Patch, because it was such a fantastic and relaxing experience! First off, this is the most relaxing place that I have ever been. There is no wifi (except in the lodge during business hours), there is no TV in your room, and the only phone is a payphone. My cell phone got no service in this area whatsoever (ATT&T but Sprint did work). Briar Patch has a wide variety of books and magazines to read, and there is a CD player with local musicians CD's in the room. The fireplace was absolutely fantastic, especially on those chilly nights. They restock you with wood every day. There are so many lovely little spots to visit and sit and relax all about the property, including hammocks and seating areas by the creek. Grab a bottle of wine from the little store a half mile up the road, grab some cheese and crackers from the lodge, and find an area near the creek to relax and share a romantic moment with your loved one. The cabins themselves are huge and fully stocked (we stayed in "The Oak"). We had a full kitchen with lots of cooking utensils that allowed us to cook and not have to go into town. My favorite part of the experience was the personalization and dedication to customer service. They left a little note with our names wishing us a fantastic time, and it was such a nice thing to walk into. They also let us check in about two hours early. The breakfast was nice each morning. There was oatmeal, hard and soft boiled eggs, a different quiche each day, home baked bread, jams, fruit, yogurt, and muffins; all included with your room. We also had on-site massages from two wonderful ladies. We had our massages in the outdoor "Kiva" room because they were renovating the creek site massage hut... but we snuck a peak and boy does that massage hut look fantastic! Outdoor massages are great because you feel more connected with nature, and you get to hear the sounds of nature and birds chirping instead of ocean waves like you get at a spa. First off, the breakfast was awesome. Buffett style, you can pick what you want and however much you want. Indoor and outdoor seating, you can sit and hear the creek. The owners/workers are extremely friendly. The grounds are beautiful and shady. There are mulitple cabins to choose from for 2 - 10 people. My only two problems: The beds are low quality and uncomfortable. Also, the website states they have "swimming holes" in the creek, but that is not the case. It is wayyy too rocky and shallow to even dip in. read more

I absolutely adore staying at the Briar Patch Inn. I've been here several times and have stayed in different cabins... I can't say I like one more than another, it's just the type of space you're looking for. The cabins are tucked in to a wonderfully landscaped setting with Oak Creek bordering on one side. There is a fantastic little seating area along the creek for meals, and then a little hidden spot which is perfect for drinking apple cider and enjoying the peacefulness of the river and surroundings. I love the little paths through the property and little seating areas and gardens, not to mention watching the sheep. The clubhouse is wonderfully rustic, along with all the cabins, and they serve a nice little breakfast. If you're looking for pancakes, bacon, potatoes, etc... get a cabin with a kitchenette and cook it yourself because you will have fresh fruit, yogurts, granola (amazing!!!), etc. Bring games, books, or portable DVD players for entertainment at night, because the cabins don't have televisions. Cell service is spotted throughout the property. You may or may not have it. The only complaint I have is the fact that there are no comfy cushiony sofas or chairs to sink into. The furniture they have is lodgepole with thin cusions-- and I personally think they're uncomfortable. I'd love to have a small leather loveseat to read in rather than sitting up straight on a futon. read more

Great spot just outside downtown Sedona. I enjoyed the stay here over the chain hotels in the area. Staff was wonderful and it was a very relaxing long weekend. It was a short drive to the trails we hiked (Boynton Canyon, Chuckwagon/Devil's Bridge, and Doe Mountain). This isn't a 4-5 star hotel, furniture is a little dated but that adds to the charm. I brought my mom here as her Mother's Day gift. It was an absolutely INCREDIBLE experience. The cabins were cozy, the complimentary breakfast was delicious and the breakfast dining area by the creek was STUNNING. I cannot stop gushing about the experience to my friends. If you're debating if you should schedule a massage DO IT! My mom and I both felt it was the best massage experience we've ever had. I have somewhat mixed feelings after staying at the Briar Patch Inn. First and foremost, the staff is INCREDIBLE. They are so wonderfully friendly and helpful, some of the nicest people you want to meet. Another great point of this inn is that they serve breakfast every morning--and it's a fantastic breakfast of hard and soft-boiled eggs, oatmeal, quiche (which changes daily), fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, and muffins. It was a fantastic way to start your day on the right foot. They also serve cheeses, cookies, and hot cider in the afternoons (which was fabulous). The grounds are really quite pretty and there are a few resident sheep and also a small patio overlooking the nearby creek that goes by the property (which is really pretty). The cabins are all relatively private and quiet, so we didn't hear any noise during our stay. That said, I was surprised how rustic they were. This wasn't a bad thing, but I had thought given the cost of the facility, perhaps the bathrooms and kitchens would be upgraded with more lighting or nicer materials. Knowing this, I might have opted to find another place to stay that was slightly more modern. So that caught me somewhat off-guard. We stayed in the Robin cabin, and my husband is 6' so he could barely fit in the shower---I'm 5'6" and it was definitely a squeeze for me, too! Additionally, our toilet was placed in a smaller location which made me wonder how people who are larger would fare in that cabin. Not sure if some of the other cabins were like that, but I had hoped we would have a tub or another option for relaxation other than the fire. There are no TVs at Briar Patch (which we were pretty okay with) and you have all the wood you can burn! We were able to still have a nice, cozy Northern Minnesota-style Christmas down in sunny AZ, which was what we were after. read more

Hubby and I stayed at the Briar Patch for a little 1st anniversary get away. What a great place! It was our first trip to Sedona, and I wouldn't think about staying any where else on our next trip. We had a lovely little cabin by the creek. It was quaint and clean. No TVs, no telephones, no sounds but the creek and the two resident sheep baa'ing occasionally. Breakfast is homemade and healthy, perfect fuel for a day of sightseeing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's nothing glamourous. There's no room service, but if you're looking for a comfy, rustic getaway this is your place! I do kind of wish there was a bath tub so I could soak a bit, but the wood burning fireplace makes up for that. Oh, make sure to get a massage by the creek. Ahhhhh! read more

I've visited the Briar Patch Inn and cannot wait to return! On both visits I stayed in the Creekside cabin and it is absolutely amazing! I found the cabin to be well-decorated in a cute rustic style, very clean, comfortable, and romantic. The sound of the creek flowing below is harmonious, and the outdoor fireplace is perfect for s'mores. Breakfast (both times) was absolutely AMAZING with a quiche to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! You can choose to eat in the main lodge, take your meal to an outside lawn overlooking the creek, or take it back to your cabin. The small number of cabins makes the B&B very intimate and cozy, and the staff really tries to get to know you and meet your every need. You are secluded from the road, have a nearby swimming hole, and sheep graze in a small field. Happiness just oozes out of this place! Overall, the Briar Patch Inn is a wonderful place to stay with either a special someone or with a family group. The prices can be a little high, but it is well worth it! Adorable. The cabins are awesome-- we saw a few on our stay, and they were great. Comfy, spacious, and super clean. The whole place is so cool: trees and flowers, birds, squirrels everywhere, decks overlooking the creek, grills, even a couple of sheep. And let's talk about the breakfast: quiche, hard/soft boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, fresh bread/muffins, fruit, yogurt, and more, every morning. Plus cookies, coffee, tea, and cider all day. Friendly staff, homemade and thoughtful breakfasts and beautiful grounds running alongside the subtly rippling Oak Creek. I was secretly glad the Sedona Marathon was cancelled when I visited because I thought, 'this means I can stay at Briar Patch and just read beside the fire and walk around!' The Briar Patch Inn is almost synonymous with The Shire in that it's secluded, lush in foliage and seemingly comprised of jovial, congenial hobbits. I'm leaving a very late but needed review. My boyfriend and I had the most amazing time. the senery, ambiance, was sureal. Robin made our stay perfect and so accommodating. The Casa De Piedra was so peaceful, romantic, you could here the creek from inside our cabin. We had sat out at our private patio looking at the creek. I loved the rustic charm and we will be staying again, I didn't want to leave a review because I don't want it to not be available when we want it. teehee. My husband and I spent three days here on our honeymoon in March 2016. Property is beautiful and we enjoyed walking around, finding little paths and sitting next to Oak Creek. We stayed in the Creekside cabin and in my opinion that the the best cabin for couples because you have a private patio and stone fireplace that is directly over the creek. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. We were surprised by a very sweet note and bottle of wine upon arrival to celebrate the occasion. Although it helped us unwind and disconnect from the world after the stress of the wedding, one thing I wish I had considered is that when they say there is no internet/phone/TV/wifi/mobile service they really mean it. I naively thought I would somehow find a signal but it never happened. Expect to be completely out of touch while you are at your cabin. All you have is a radio. Once you leave the property and are a minute or two out on the road you will have a signal again. Also, not a criticism because we loved our stay, breakfast leaves a lot to be desired of you are hoping for a more traditional bacon and eggs. Each day is some primarily the same with a few changes but consists of soft boiled eggs, oatmeal, an egg type mini muffin, grain bread, butter, and fruit. This is very much in line with the typical attitudes towards natural and holistic wellness found throughout the city. read more

Thus far my wife and I have stayed in three of the cabins. The King Fisher was the best of the bunch. The staff are all friendly and professional, cabins are quaint and rustic. Overall the Briar Patch is an excellent venue if you are looking for quiet and and time to connect with your spouse. If I had any suggestions it would be #1. Please replace the mattresses ( hard as a rock) we didn't get a lot of sleep and left with major back pain. #2. The bathrooms are super small; the bathrooms in an RV are actually larger. I had to be a contortionist to simply use the restroom and take a shower. I'm a larger frame man, hence the challenges, however if you are a smaller person or a card carrying member of the lollipop guild you should be fine. The first time I tried to use the restroom the thought " Who was the sadist who designed this restroom and are they watching right now trying to get a laugh"? Overall its a very nice place, but I feel its my obligation to warn my larger brothers and sisters and all you folks who prefer a more squishy bed. read more

What a treat compared to the circus that is downtown Sedona. We used the outdoor grill to cook dinner, built a comfy fire inside and enjoyed a quiet evening. We had everything we needed, fridge, kettle, cutlery and crockery, even enjoyed some music on the little CD player - all included. The breakfast puts most restaurants to shame and is included in the price. Staff were all friendly and helpful; can't wait to go back again, it was really a highlight of our trip to AZ. read more

My wife and I discovered Briar Patch over thirty years ago. We thought it would be a great place to stay on our anniversary. It turns out that we were right. What we didn't know was how habit forming Briar Patch can be, thirty years later and we still enjoy staying there multiple times a year. We have enjoyed their gracious hospitality in all four seasons and found the grounds beautiful no matter what time of year we stay. We love it that there are no televisions in the cabins and that WiFi is only available in the lobby. The grounds are beautiful and the service is second to none. This is quite possibly the most charming, quiet, beautiful, and lovely cabin and area I've ever had the pleasure of staying. We stayed in the Sycamore and had a private entrance surrounded by beautiful ivy and trees. I have two very young children and they were absolutely delighted with the open green fields and swings around the village. Our cabin was fully stocked with firewood, cooking essentials, and toiletries (including their homemade body butter which we purchased extras!) The fireplace was the backdrop of perfection for our three night stay. They delivered us homemade breakfast each morning. My girls loved every bit! If you want to enjoy the tourism of Sedona (along with the bustling crowds and waits in traffic) then staying at Briar Patch is the perfect serenity to come home to each night. Was looking for a nice, relaxing, romantic place to go for our 1st anniversary and found this quaint little place in the Sunset magazine. It was quiet, peaceful and spending time exploring the Oak Creek was soooo relaxing. It is set off the highway, so the road noise was minimal. It was only a few miles outside of town, which was nice. The cabins were comfortable and it was nice to disconnect from technology for a weekend. The breakfast was very nice and the staff were awesome! When we got to our cabin, there were two bottles of wine, flowers, and a really nice handwritten note on a scroll congratulating us on our anniversary. Needing an escape from Phoenix Valley heat and a celebration of our Marriage we decided to head north to Sedona and a little beyond to The Briar Patch Inn. Think green... trees, grass, bushes and flowers with a slight breeze and the sound of water running over rocks in the creek. You may come close to what is actual. We stayed in the Sycamore Cottage... no internet, no TV, no radio... just the sound of a breeze through the trees and the sound of the creek to add to the atmosphere of rest and relaxation. Breakfast under the trees overlooking the creek... quiche, muffins, African Grain bread, eggs, etc... no worries, just quite conversation over a delicious well prepared breakfast. Walk among the trees to the creek and enjoy putting your feet in the cool water, refreshing... or you can toss a line and catch a Brown or Rainbow trout... we chose both. We have already made reservations for our next visit in 4 months. read more

Had a nice fireplace, beautiful patio, and very sweet breakfast in the morning. Although it doesn't get phone service it's really quite nice because you have to disconnect to reconnect sometimes! Our first, and not to be, the last stay at Briar Patch. Over the last 31 years we have stayed in good, bad and down right ugly lodgings. The good points. Hard to find. Yes, if more knew about this place i would be overrun with people wanting to see just how beautiful the place is. The staff is pleasant and sincerely eager to help. The cottages are just perfect! Not just my word, check it out for yourself. Happy, the pony is adorable and the staff will cut up apples for you to feed Happy. The place to unwind. NO, TV, radio, telephone or internet in your cottage, including cell service. We survived, you can too. It was very nice without being tethered. There is wifi in the lodge but you are requested not to use your devices during the wonderful breakfast (all homemade and delicious). Oak Creek flows near your cabin with a relaxing sound. You can enjoy your breakfast, walk, read, watch the birds and wildlife or just enjoy the swings or hammocks. I'm going to end this because I'm ready to go back to this peaceful and serene getaway. Very charming little cabins scattered around 15 or so acres along Oak Creek. The water burbles in the background, the cliffs soar red and majestic above you, and the breakfast spread is really top notch. The price is almost as high as the surrounding red rocks, but I guess if you want a really nice Sedona experience, it's not cheap. As others have mentioned bring some sliced apples for the chubby sheep. Dip your toes in the creek (I really don't think you could swim in it) and take in some yoga on the lawn. Just be sure to snap out of your serenity while pulling out of the Briar Patch Inn onto 89A, since the great unwashed are driving like maniacs on their way to Sliderock. We just spent 3 days for our 4th anniversary at the Briar Patch Inn. What a fabulous experience. The women who served the breakfast were attentive to our needs, the food was healthy and plentiful. This is my 3 rd stay and all the cabins are nice, but this time we splurged and stayed in the Robin. I am so so glad we did. They layed our fire 2 times on one of the days because my husband was chilled. Laura on the evening shift was very helpful, and went out of her way to keep the snacks fresh and plentiful every day. She also had wonderful suggestions of a moderately priced Thanksgiving dinner down in Oak Creek. I always ask locals about the best places and she had many suggestions. Arizona Actors Academy ran a week long specialized acting intensive at Briar Patch. We had a renown guest with us and 20 actors. This retreat was a magical in no small part because of Briar Patch. I can't speak highly enough about the rustic, warm, stunningly beautiful location. The staff were all accommodating, friendly and lovely to work with. We will be back annually. read more
