We soooooo lucked out not only with this place, but with timing for the first snow of the year. This is about as adorable as it gets. Tucked out in the forest, I felt like I was in Northern Michicagn actually, rather than Arizona. We stayed in The Treehouse and it really did feel as if we were in a treehouse! Resting high above the Oak Creek, our front porch had gorgeous views of the creek and the mountain booming high above us. The cottage was situated far enough from the other cottages and it was as if we were out there alone. The back porch was very spacious and included a grill (too cold to grill out though!) and the cabin itself featured a skylight. This was fantastic as we heard/and watched the snow fall. Each cabin has it's own wood burning fireplace and they have tons of wood already chopped for you to use. The kitchen was full of anything you could possibly need, the furniture was comfy and most importantly, clean, and there was even a Sleep Number bed! This is a small area so parking is very limited, so carpool! This is a quiet, off the main drag location and it's unbelievably relaxing. There is no cable/tv which is no big deal, but there is no wifi anywhere near here. That took some getting used to , I have to admit. These cabins vary in sizes from studio to several bedrooms. I can't stress how gorgeous they are and how stunning the location is. I'll definitely stay here again!

(Late autumn visit). I stayed in the Chalet House this time. Very nice cabin and enough room for three. There are a ton of windows in this cabin, including 3 skylights. The cabin is surrounded by trees, which makes for a nice view. The kitchen is nicely appointed and the linens are comfortable and cozy. The entire cabin is cozy. The fireplace is big enough to warm the living area and dining room. The owners kindly provide all the free firewood you can use! There are three doors to get in and out, and a back patio for grilling. One important piece of info I must share: the cabin isn't very private. Pretty much everything outside is at eye level; people, cars, golf-carts. Also, the cabin is right next to the open space (for games, kids, dogs on leashes, etc) so you hear those noises. The cabin is directly across from the main office. There is parking for other cabins about 3 feet away on the right. I rather felt I was in a fishbowl, especially at night so I was sure to close the curtains. Overall, though, I adore Forest Houses Resort. They could put me on a cot in the closet and I'd be happy. This is because the staff is friendly and professional. The ambience is peaceful, quiet, and woodsy. I can almost feel the stress of real life falling off in chunks when I arrive. I will be going back in 2018!!

I absolutely LOVE this place! My fiance took me here just over a year ago and proposed on the trip. We stayed in the Oak House and couldn't have enjoyed our time here more. We love to cook and the kitchen was beautiful and stocked with anything we needed (food not included). We woke up and drank coffee while looking out the gorgeous floor to ceiling window and the lush green ivy. You can hear the creek all hours of the day and night and you never have to worry about outside interruptions. The owners are adamant that this is a place to come and relax, not a place to come and have large groups of people partying and disrupting other guests. My words about the cozy cottage, fireplaces downstairs and up, and the beautiful kitchen can never do this place justice. Just to brag, my fiance surprised me recently and worked with my boss to pick me up early from work and take me back to this magical place for another relaxing weekend; it was just as wonderful as the first time (although he made me try his homemade chicken gizzards).

This is at the entrance to Forest House.

I'm glad that we did, she was right it's a very pretty and relaxing spot to stop and of course the food is delicious! We started with a cocktail and then we split a hamburger, which was delicious and a salad. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the food, but I did of our cocktails which you can see below. However, when we initially arrived, the young front desk agent with red hair appeared to be on a personal phone call. She ended the call by saying "I love you," which made it seem like it may have been a conversation with a friend. After the call she greeted us, but throughout the interaction she seemed unsure and a bit confused about the information she was giving. I would strongly suggest additional training on customer service and job knowledge to ensure guests feel welcomed and confident in the information they receive. Especially at a property where guests are paying around $1,000 a night, first impressions and professionalism are very important. Aside from that initial front desk experience, everything else about our stay was wonderful.

The staff is really friendly. Everyone had a smile on their face and constantly said hello. It was very welcoming. The Trail house and art studio are great additions to the property. You can't take art classes or rent equipment for hikes or bike rides. In both spaces the people are very knowledgeable. Food choices are good. They have coffee shop with a variety of snacks and a couple restaurants. The pool is nice and the tennis bc outta and pickleball courts couldn't have a more scenic view. The Bad - The rooms are pretty dated. They need an upgrade at those prices. I had a patio to sit on but didn't have any chairs on the patio so I couldn't really use it. The room was dark and dim. No soft close toilet seat. Bathroom products were pretty average. Food prices are out of control. I realize it's a resort and we are a captive audience, bit please don't make things grossly overpriced. Don't pay for a private biking tour. Go yourself. The prices for those are outrageous. Download All Trails and go it on your own. Otherwise homes are going to run you $350 per person. That's just not worth it unless you middle name is "moneybags".

As we're cruising down the main street we passed The Inn Above Oak Creek and noticed they had a lit-up vacancy sign. We immediately went in and met with the inn keeper who offered to let us go see the room before we committed to booking. This is THE cutest little 13 room inn set right on Oak Creek. There is seating down by the creek, on the patio off the main room, and inside the main room itself that all have great views. Our room was very spacious with a 2-person sized bathtub and a fireplace! It had truly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home. My husband was obsessed and wanting to know how we could copy it to have at home. Both of the inn managers were so kind and took such good care of us. You could feel how much they care for the inn and value their guests. There's always coffee and water set out. They have homemade cookies in the afternoon and homemade muffins in the morning. They have a bookshelf with various options for reading and a large selection of movies. On the coffee table, they have binders full of recommendations for trails and exploring the area. It was such a cute and intimate place to stay. I'd recommend it to anyone traveling to Sedona and I'd love to stay here again! We truly couldn't have found a better place to stay for Valentine's Day. As others have noted, the hotel is right off a main road and there was some construction going on that started early, which I heard. But at night it was absolutely quiet and I slept well! Loved the decor -- the whole property is a fire pit-a-palooza, which I dug. I'm sure it's less expensive in the winter, but I would recommend going at least in the spring if not in summer. It was definitely chilly in my room even with the heat turned up -- there wasn't a heating a source in the bathroom so a bit of dashing around. I'll also say that having a smores making kit in my room was a real treat and lovely surprise! Overall a comfortable, chill experience -- I'd suggest requesting a room away from the front (I think the back section may also be where they house folks bringing pets with them).
