I truly cannot express how bland and poor the food is here. After being highly recommended by the waitress I ordered the cauliflower stir fry. Regardless of the ingredient description, the only flavor on the plate was the kimchee for having a little kick to it. Thankfully there was a tasty little thing on the table called salt. The steak was tasteless with a mushy consistency. As you can see from the pictures this was more of a soup than a stir fry. Someone else ordered the mac n cheese which looked good but again very, very bland. The cheese had what I would describe as a powdery taste (which i'm sure is not what's used, but does taste as such). This place has great potential if the quality and seasoning of the food were corrected. That being said the atmosphere can be described as lively with a very, very crowded bar area which is directly within the dining area with lots of young adults in ages of about 22 and up. Not a bad place to just grab a beer but would not recommend a mixed drink. The owner did seem very nice and friendly and always pitching in to help the staff (great quality to have as an owner) Wish I could say I'd return here for a another try but I truly cannot. Second time in just about one year, after the Brick and Beam open shop in Quincy, and the first day was disaster as they only wanted guests to be welcomed. The next week we go in and the were treated like shit, sat at a noisy small table, and my meal as opposed to my friends was a disaster. I had to the order something else and again, I was the second tome treated like shit. I said, I would never go to the place again. I got an email from the manager and offered free something, I said no. On the way home from the hospital yesterday where I picked up my Fiance, I said, I'll try it one more time. Second time was strike three for me. She ordered fries. Slow service. 3.00 for a 12ounce glass of Pepsi. I had the worst Phillie steak sandwich that tasted like striped meat from a local supermarket. It tasted like it. The bottom half of the role was soggy, no peppers, and tough worst meat in the world. It was not steak meat I would accept. I felt sorry for the waitress and gave her only a 10% tip. The many sucks, appeals to veggies or cowards and not to the rest of us. Children were eating vegetables and appetizers. parents only lettuce. No cheese on my Philly, except a smell. I even had someone else. overcooked French fries. My fake phillis burger was greasy as hell. Folks, all they want to sell is booze, they do not do good with food. PERIOD. Im not going for the third strike out next time. I give them a 0000000 Zero. The first attempt I made for Brick, I tried to call ahead. The hostess picked up and said it was only a 25-30min wait for two...when I arrived 10mins later, it was a 2 hr wait because of a back up in the kitchen. I live right down the street. I guess World War 3 broke out in that kitchen during the 10min ride. The second attempt we called ahead and again the hostess said 25-30mins. After my 10min drive the wait time doubled to 45-60mins. Understandable since it was a Saturday at 7pm. We were seated around 730 and put in two drinks and an app a few mins later. It took atleast a half hour to get. I had to say something to the waitress since she never came back to check in on us. The nachos were ok. The guacamole and homemade salsa were great. After we peeled the first layer of chips off, everything underneath was cracked and broken. It was like they poured the bottom of the bag out and put a few new chips on top. The entrees showed up 30mins after the app was cleared and disappointed. My steak tips were rubber and cheap quality. The veggie medley looked more depressed than I felt. The fries came in this mini fry basket that took up half the plate. The tips were low quality cut from Sysco. I asked for med-rare and got tough and chewy. My girlfriend ordered the Mac and cheese dishes which came out good and tasted good. However it took sooooo long to get the entrees she just wanted to leave. The waitress offered free dessert but after being there for two hours or two and a half hours if you include the wait, we declined. The GM who was running around all night and I could see him with his hands in his face behind the bar on more than one occasion came over to the table. He apologized for the food and slow service. He comped the meal. If you have a couple hours to kill and want average food in a hip, cool stop then this is the place for you. It reminds of a girl I dated who was really attractive on the outside but had no personality within. Came here for the first time for my b'day. Not impressed. The lack of seasoning on the chicken fingers and they were dry. The last time I came it was really busy so I decided to go late afternoon. As expected there were only a few people in the restaurant. Had a delicious glass of Landmark Chardonnay served by a lovely bartender with a delightful brogue. My mistake was moving to a table when my companion arrived. Josh promptly took our drink and then a harried waitress arrived to take our food order before the drinks even arrived. I asked her what the soup was and she explained that she just arrived so she didn't know. After a long awkward stare, she offered to check. I ordered soup and a chicken parm sandwich (1/2 of which I was hoping to take home to my husband). The soup (wheat bisque?) was amazing; creamy, rich and delicately seasoned. BUT the chicken in the sandwich was like shoe leather! I could not eat it. When the waitress finally returned (remember it is afternoon =8 people tops in the restaurant) to check on our meal, I told her, "I've been picking on the bread but the chicken is like shoe leather. I can't eat it." Her reply was (drum roll please), "Oh the bread is the best part anyway." REALLY???? She added that she would let the kitchen know and then returned to sit at the table with her coworkers. She cleared the dishes with 90% of the sandwich remaining and made no attempt to rectify the situation. Over priced for tasteless food... Extremely hopeful, very hungry, and so close to home. We wanted this to be a exciting new restaurant that we would visit on a regular basis. The decor was very nice with butcher block counter tops and gas lighting. I would give it a 8/10. The waitress came over promptly and asked what we would like to drink. We asked what kind of ciders they had and she said she had to check. I ordered a 7 and 7 and she said "a seventy-seven, I don't know what that is but I will check." She never came over to ask how the food tasted nor did she ask if we needed refills on our beverages. So I rate her a 3/10. But what really took the cake was the food. We ordered boneless buffalo chicken as a appetizer, very standard with only 6 medium sized pieces of chicken. I ordered the steak-tips medium. Seriously tasted like Stop and Shop teriyaki steak. Some pieces were rare and some were well-done. We also ordered a sausage and ricotta pizza with caramelized onions. Sounds delicious, right... We had to use 1/2 of the salt and pepper shaker just to choke down the 1/2 the pizza. The crust tasted like it had been in the freezer for a couple of days. I have to rate the food at a 2/10, and that's being generous. We then received the bill and it was $75! With competition so fierce, I hate to say that this will be the first and last time I will be visiting this establishment. read more

Both my wife and I thought the same thing at first: that if they where not good how could the meals be. Fortunately, the meals where 100 times better! My wife got mac and cheese and I got the chicken parm sandwich. She really liked her mac and cheese and it was a good size portion. My sandwich - while nothing fancy - was very good. I hate to say it, because I know how hard opening a restaurant can be, but this place is awful. I've gone several times and each time I've been frustrated in some way. The first time, they'd just opened, so I understand there are some bumps in the road. Our server was very pleasant but brought out one flat, gross drink (sent it back) and another order completely wrong. But my friend was gracious and had it anyways. The pulled pork sliders were oily and not super warm but not awful. The fries were AMAZING - our server really shined when she was talking about how they were prepared. Again, personality wise, our server was pleasant! Then my chowder came out...stone cold. Sent it back to be reheated. My friend's pizza came out wrong. The manager gave us an appetizer we didn't order, and when we explained it wasn't ours, he seemed frustrated and confused and said we could just have it. Everyone seemed stressed, flustered, and like they didn't know what was going on. Second time I went, I sat at the bar and wasn't greeted for a few minutes, even though it wasn't busy. The bartender was a little distracted, and seemed shocked when my friend ordered a coffee and said they'd have to brew up a pot, in a way that made us feel like we were troubling her. Then they came to us and said they'd messed up the first pot so they needed to make MORE. It's a simple cup of coffee! Drinks came out after a small wait, but not bad. Couldn't catch her eye later so had to place a food order with another bartender who seemed confused. Later she asked us if we'd already gotten our food, and we had to explain we were still waiting... finally it came out and while it was good, the fried dough was in pizza slices, not "bites" as it was described on the menu. There was also some confusion about our check at the end. Considering how long we waited for everything and how the bartenders were not attentive, and the lackluster food, an the fact that when my friends have gone without me and had frustrating experiences as well leads me to say that brick and beam is a disappointing experience. Visited last week before the rush hour. Sat at the bar - the wait staff were excellent and very enthusiastic. Food was good overall but the menu needs to be expanded and tweaked. Waited 1.5 hrs for a table for 4 before we left - got there @ 530p & still waiting to be seated! I know it's their 1st weekend open, but VERY unorganized. Waitstaff/bussers bringing out food/drinks & not delivering to proper tables. They've hired too many 17 y/o kids who have no concept how to function in a busy environment. Great renovation and a fun addition the Quincy. The decor, drinks, and service were all outstanding. Unfortunately the food was.. meh. We ordered a pizza which was hands down the best out of the entire order. The steak tips were alright but the sides tasted like they had been cooked in the same pan as the meat, as all food on the plate tasted the same. The kids Mac and cheese first arrived with no cheese on the noodles. When it came back there was a thin, greasy cheese 'sauce' spooned on top of the now cold noodles. Great atmosphere and love the 2 bars. Johnny was our bartender and was super friendly. They have a great selection of beers on tap. We got the crispy brussels sprout appetizer to start. The portion was way to big (nothing to complain about!) and could have used a little less balsamic but was well worth the money. The sausage and ricotta pizza was really good. Overall, just not good. They do some things well but they have some glaring issues. Great job on the decor and wait staff are friendly I'll concede. Although friendly doesn't mean attentive. Been there twice with my kids, there meals were fine (chicken fingers and burger) both times. Started with the pretzel appetizer, decent but the center of them were so dry if you didn't slather them in the sauce I felt like I was going to choke. Food runners need some serious training, not friendly and don't know who is getting what. Last night they came to the table and said the plates were hot and proceeded to place the food in the center of the table expecting my kids to grab the hot plate that was meant for them and pull it in front of them, that pissed me off big time. I got their strip steak both times (glutton for punishment I guess). Overcooked both times, asked for med rare, got med well. Lucky for them the server took so long to check in with us I was three quarters done and gave up complaining. Supposed to come with a "red wine reduction", it was more of a flavorless beef stock jelly. Pretty good mashed potatoes but green beans had zero seasoning, just boiled. The first time I was there I got a Caesar salad that was a monstrous portion of underdressed lettuce with rock hard croutons, I wasn't doing that again. A lot of potential there, hope they get it right. Oh p.s., my bill ended in 85 cents and the server rounded up shorting me 15 cents, what the hell is that? I'm not hurting for 15 cents but that is basically stealing from me. It cost her in the tip. read more

The decor and space is perfect! Parking all around, if you don't know the area, keep your eyes open there are two additional free parking lots writhin eye view. Food, drinks, and service are all good/ great. Also, the manager is always running around.... he's never introduced himself... but he appears to be making sure everyone is having a good experience (which I like seeing in a restaurant). However, one thing that made me rate this as a 4 star rather than 5 is the noise level. I May be a bit critical here, but I simply can't understand why a new place with such an open concept didn't consider hanging noise reducing acoustic panels or something. The owner/ manager has to notice how you can hear every conversation in the place at once. I apologize if this seems like a rant, I certainly suggest coming here, but I think you will understand my one criticism once you do. read more

From start to finished an epic fail. We had high hopes as we got a seat right away at the bar. However, we sat for 10 minutes with no eye contact aside from food menus being dropped, not drink menus as you would expect at sitting at the bar. It became apparent that the bar staff was inexperienced. We had to flag down someone who worked there to get an order in. Two beers came right up. We put in an order of nachos, which took 30min to arrive. When the nachos came out they were in small bowl, only about 15 chips. We ordered with chili and they put sour cream underneath the chili, of which you can imagine turned it into a chili cream sauce of sorts. These things things can be overlooked. However, it was one thing after another. The bartender dropped pint glasses that broke above the ice bin of which we had to mentioned the ice would need to be cleaned out. She was clearly unhappy with our suggestion but it had to be done, there was broken glass! We asked for the check but weren't heard and asked if we wanted another beer. Of which the bartender had previous just filled up our glasses rather than getting us new fills in new glasses (which is gross with a sediment heavy beer). Hopefully they can pull it together. We went here for brunch last weekend. We had a pretty big group, so they sat us in the side room with the bar. The waitress, bartender, and manager all did an amazing job. They were all super attentive and courteous the entire time we were there. The bloody Mary's were amazing, so were the buffalo tenders and eggs bene. I have never waited that long for our food service is horrible please head my warning and go elsewhere unless you want to wait two hours for overpriced mediocre food. Went there Saturday evening at 7 with a a party of six. One hour wait that we expected downhill from there. Another 1 hour wait until we finally got our "meal". Limited menu with poorly cooked food. Pizza was undercooked bland and dry . Steak tips tough, chicken Parm hardly with the price. Dirty app dishes left on table and when the food come out no extra dishes or steak knives to cut the meat. The good is the the staff is friendly and the apps are good . So this is a good place to go for an app but not for a dinner There are too many good places to go in Quincy to waste your money at this time. My guess this place is short lived . read more

What a blast! The team of ladies I work with all met me here for a fun night out, and we were blown away by the whole staff! The bartenders, servers, and bus people were all busy, but didn't miss a beat...the food was great too! We had the nachos, brussels sprouts (my favorite), and pizza for apps, along with several rounds of delicious cocktails. We received a gift certificate to this place so went to check it out. We will be back! Really good food and great service. I think our server's name was Chris. So pleasant. My husband said it seemed like everyone who worked there liked being there :) We really liked the Brussels sprouts appetizer, and the marinade on the steak tips was so good. We were excited to try the new restaurant in Quincy, located in the old Villa Rosa. The decor is great, love the old pics of the Quincy quarry. We also enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately I have to say we did have a pretty negative experience with the service. Over 90 minutes is way too long to wait for three cheeseburgers. I understand a long wait for food can happen sometimes, but the way the server deals with it can go a long way. I had to point out to him that our meal seemed to be taking a long time, never once did he come over to check on us while we were waiting. Once I did he did he apologized and said the kitchen was backed up, but the manager wanted to pay for a round on the house for dealing with the wait. The thing is, why didn't the manager come over and check on us, besides the free round of drinks it was never really acknowledged that we had to wait such a long time, while people around us were getting meals. My guess would be that the server never said anything, probably forgot to put our order in, and just grabbed us a couple of beers to try to appease us. Then once our food came out he never once came over to check on us. I had to go up to another waitress to get our bill Again I understand that things happen in a busy restaurant, but to just give us some beers and then avoid us the rest of our visit doesn't help anything. In such a competitive market the service is really something that can make your restaurant stand out, and our experience made our visit memorable for the wrong reasons. read more
