This review is for the pizza only and with a name like B&B that's darn important. These folks have caused quite a bit of excitement in Havertown and many, many of my readers have visited and reached out to me with comments. I finally had a chance to try a pie myself and I found myself agreeing with my readers on several points. I tried the SAUSAGE, POTATO AND EGG pie for $11. Was it tasty? Yes! Would I order it again? Yes! The sausage was surprisingly and pleasantly spicy and the slices of potato had a nice earthy flavor. The egg was a nice touch that went well with this pizza but it will be something new for many Havertownians. However, there are some issues that need to be addressed. The key word here is UNEXPECTEDLY. 1. These pies are on the small side. Note that folks including myself are not complaining about the price but just surprised at the size. Like every other pizza place, B&B needs to add XX" to their pizza menu. That way folks won't be UNEXPECTEDLY surprised. 2. It's impossible to tell from the menu if you are getting a pie with red sauce, a white pie, or something else. This is an easy fix and needs to be rectified yesterday or sooner. Getting a white pie when you wanted red sauce is UNEXPECTED and not good. Update your menu please. 3. B&B is the only wood fired pizza oven in Havertown. One of the delights of a wood fired pie is that the fire imparts a smoky flavor to the pie. I could not taste that wood flavor here which was completely UNEXPECTED. If I was blindfolded and given a taste of pizza, I should be able to immediately tell that it came from a wood fired oven. Maybe it's because the oven is new and needs seasoning but I EXPECT that this will be fixed. 4. This pizza dough here is OK but still needs some work. I know that the B&B folks are working hard to fine tune their menu. When I take a bite of a B&B pie I EXPECT to taste the yeasty flavor of well-made dough. The folks here are working hard to bring a quality restaurant experience to Havertown. I especially love the exceptional CUSTOMER SERVICE I have experienced on several visits. Just made a new addition to my top five! Ate here last night while in town touring the area's colleges. Regrettably, parking is paid meter and rather limited. The patrons were an eccentric mix of young adults and couples relaxing at the expansive bar and families with children at tables. It was around 6 PM when I was here so I imagine that the composition of customers changes as it gets later. Service was prompt and friendly. To start we had the prosciutto fries. A large portion of perfectly seasoned frites with a prosciutto so thoroughly blended into the cheesy sauce that it doesn't overwhelm. The chicken sandwich is the best ever. The bun is soft and tasty yet up to the task of supporting a robust sandwich. The sauce has a gentle spiciness to round out the sweetness. The desserts are fabulous. The bourbon bread pudding was topped with vanilla ice cream and just made me feel good all over. I also tried the beignets which were a respectable approximation of what I've had at Cafe Du Monde. Most of the menu is dedicated to a varietyof beers and whiskeys. Unfortunately, I was driving and couldn't indulge but I will be all in when I return. I finally had the opportunity to try their pizza after 3 attempts. I am knocking it down 1 star being solely on I wasn't impressed by their pizza. I know these guys are the " New kids on the block ", and there is needs of improvement. They do have a lot of potential of being better, they just need time to get all the kinks out. I do appreciate that the managers , along with the staff ask how was the pizza, or what is needed to be done . Nothing wrong with getting an outside opinion on where it would be better , or where it was lacking. I mentioned before I love, and I mean I LOVE a great pie , nothing says comfort like pizza. Another thing I tried were their fried pickles, these were a little on the soggy side. If they cut them a little thinner, maybe leave them in the fryer a little longer thus making them crispier, these little guys would be a solid appetizer. Everything else on my first review still hold true, spot on. They have a great crew, they just added seats for outside dinning, added a beer sampler with (5) 4 oz.. glasses for you to peruse. These guys are doing a great job, their crew still accommodates and interacts with all the patrons that enter. I am sure with time they will figure everything out, again they are still new so this could change again in time. Dear owner, Fix the god damn door knob on the left side bathroom door on the inside!!!!! Mega FAIL. And dirty bathrooms!!!!!!!!This was my first time back to this establishment since it was taken over by brick n brew. I ask my husband to take me over to see the new location. I cut my right thumb on the broken loose door knob on the inside of the bathroom. This is a simple maintenance fix and should not have been on a Saturday night with a manager walking around lost in his own ego. We left after one beer. read more

Went in for the first time on a Friday afternoon and was immediately digging the decor of the restaurant. Sat at a high top near the bar and got a very helpful server. Ordered a few beers, a cocktail, and a few appetizers everything was dynamite. Fried pickles were seasoned perfectly, had an amazing sauce and the cauliflower we ordered as well was extremely tasty. Entrees were also very good, everyone left with some leftovers from the amount of food we ordered and received. The standout dish was the Kielbasa Cubano, it was an amazing sandwich in every way you want a sandwich to be. I will definitely be back to have that again! read more

I had a great time here on a date. The staff was friendly. It was a little chilly and they let us stay in our original seats until we could get inside. Outside and inside, the waiter/waitresses we had were attentive and nice. The food was definitely good. We had a couple starters/specials: the honey cranberry wings (very tender--best wings I've had in a while) and the crab dip w/ pita chips (soooo good). My date liked his burger and fries. I also had stuffed potato skins (they came out lukewarm; probably the only glitch of the night. And they did reheat them, so I can excuse that). The whiskey sour I had was probably the best whiskey drink I've had ever. It had cherries in it and tasted kind of like iced tea. It didn't necessarily taste heavy on the whiskey, but I enjoyed the flavors. Can't wait to go back and get the pizzas, the lobster mac n' cheese, the fried cheesecake, fried pickles and an old-fashioned (lol) I live nearby in West Philly, so this will definitely be a go-to spot. read more

The yum was worth the chill! We had the blackened mahi-mahi lettuce wraps, mac-n-cheese (a dish I usually consider a waste of carbs), pulled pork burger and wings.. All just outstanding! They have a new location around the block from their old one (which was waaaay too small and always impossible to get a table) but their new location has plenty of inside space and has quite a lot of character and personality since it used to be a bank... loved the spacious high ceiling at the bar, the plush purple banquettes and even the "vault door". Met my girlfriend for lunch here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Got seated quickly . We had drinks (which were great!) Appetizers - deviled eggs with shrimp ,which were kinda bland). But the roasted brussel sprouts were delicious. (I know it sounds yucky, but trust, they were good ! We both had burnt ends for an entree and they were delicious. As for drinks, they boast a great assortment of craft beers, whiskeys and scotches, and amazing specialty mixed drinks. I especially like the Moscow Mule, Speakeasy, and Old Fashioned. Last night as I visited this restaurant for the first time I was sorely disappointed. While there were 4 young ladies at the door only 2 waitstaff were serving the bottom floor. Very friendly when you had them at your table. Then the second disappointment was my dinner. I had the octopus grill. It was explained on the menu and sounded great. The octopus was so over done and the accompanying beans, chorizo the same. My friend had the better salad of beets. If I lived here I might come again and try another meal but as a visitor I am done. This place is absolutely fantastic and I think it is a humongous mistake for them to close it and open a bigger one. I have been to a few of the other locations and they simply do not hold up. The Havertown location is by far the best of the bunch. I believe that the secret is to keep it small and manageable for the kitchen. Once you start making excellent dishes in mass, things always start to go downhill. I'm really sad to see the small location close eventually, I just don't think that they can keep the high standards up once they move to a bigger location. In fact they've already proven that they cannot. That all being said, this specific location is absolutely fantastic. The service is great, staff is kind and quick. Amazing restaurant with great food and drinks and even better service. I've been going here for a few years and recently bought some gift cards which were to be mailed. I received one but not the other (made two separate orders a few hours apart). Leigh was able to track it down and found out the mailman dropped it in a mailbox down the street from my home. I think I should have tried Brick & Brew during dinner because the two options I selected were a little too heavy for lunch. They have a great variety of beers and food options. I tried the wedge salad which was super heavy on the pancetta - the apples were a nice ingredient to lighten the meal. 1st visit to the new Havertown location and immediately impressed with the space: much more seating than the old spot, airy and stylish, the decor felt a bit NOLA and very comfortable. Slightly loud, but not so bad you couldn't hear each other at the table. Seated immediately which was appreciated on a Saturday evening. Our server Dana was friendly, helpful and always around when we needed her. We had cocktails - the Marilyn Monroe and Old Fashioned - both were tasty and strong. Then we split the pretzel, pear salad, mushroom pizza and beignets. The pretzel came out looking a bit dry, but was warm, soft and tasty with the mustard. A butter wash would help these aesthetically, but nevertheless, they tasted great. The pear salad delivered with the goat cheese and candied nuts, but was lacking dressing - Dana provided extra. I would have preferred the pears be warm or at least room temp, but instead they were served chilled and weren't as tasty as we hoped for. The pizza was well executed flavor-wise, although we wouldn't have minded more mushrooms. Not sure what style oven they cook their pizzas in but there was no char on the crust and it was a little dried out. The blend of pesto and goat cheese was great however and we demolished the whole pie. For dessert, the beignets were plentiful and covered in powdered sugar, caramel and Oreo cookie. The dough seemed reminiscent of the pizza and a bit too heavy for beignets, but still, they were served warm and soft and we enjoyed them. Four stars for the total experience - we will be back to try some other menu items - the short rib grilled cheese and Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese were tempting choices before we settled elsewhere. This is our go to spot in Havertown and the place we always take visiting friends and family members. The many times we've gone, we normally get their brick oven pizzas along with multiple appetizers: roasted Brussel sprouts w Parmesan, fried pickles, prosciutto fries, and the Coconut Sriracha wings when on special. The wings are some of the best I've had; they literally fall off the bone. They also have a variety of pizzas which is often why we go: margarita, pepperoni, brussel sprout and bacon, Prosciutto arugula, and a few others. One potential drawback is that it is on the smaller side, but they do a good job of maximizing space. When we've had to wait, we've gone to the bar where they have a robust selection of whiskies and bourbons as well as local craft beers. The service has always been friendly and attentive. We absolutely LOVE Brick & Brew!! My husband and I first visited the restaurant back in March. We loved it so much, we came back with our son the next day for brunch....and asked them to cater my husband's 40th birthday party at our house! Very disappointed with my experience, as I had generally good experiences with the former location on Darby Road and I think my meal tonight was the worst dine-in experience I've ever had. Buffalo Chicken Sliders tasted very bad, I couldn't finish one. Tried some of my friends' Mac and Cheese and Wings, both were surprisingly flavorless (but I suppose not overtly bad). Pizza was average and fries were good. Only not giving a one-star review because the Short Rib nachos were good, the venue was beautiful, and our server was very nice and helpful. This restaurant just moved its location to a bigger more beautiful location, in order to accommodate to the patrons of the Havertown community. People are excited to go check out the new spot. At any restaurant I would recommend making reservations prior to going, but especially one that is opening up their doors during the pandemic. I'm only writing that, because I seen a recent review giving this place 1 star because of that, but anyone that dines frequently knows that our spots not guaranteed unless we have a reservation! Holy shit. Great service, food was prompt, and the food was INCREDIBLE. The fried pickles, prosciutto fries as an app set the standard already. The pickles were cut long way the dipping sauce was zesty, wasn't overly salty. The fries.. just amazing. I had the short rib grilled cheese. Holy hell. One of my top 5 best sandwiches I ever had. Just returned from a delicious dinner with the family. We had dinner here last week and decided to come back for more. The GM Shelley greeted us and made us feel welcome. The fried pickles were fabulous as was the aioli sauce that garnished them.Beet salad was also wonderful. A diner near us swooned over the deviled eggs topped with shrimp for an appetizer.
