This was a Yelp scout out days before I even got into Philly. When I Arrived to Jess and Rose's house I said "take me to The Brick!!!" Physically this is just the type of place I love, open Kitchen and wood burning oven open to the pub Heavy tables and chairs, cool lighting and big chalk boards with menu's. Put a bartender in a bow tie and it just proves these guys take the job serious! What I loved was The Very best Old Fashion's I have ever had! in the hundreds I have tried, and even the ones I make, these were the best ever!!! Tasty grub included Stuffed Onion Rings, White Bean Humus with roasted veggies and toasted pitas, and a cast Iron dish with and oddly orange yet tasty crab dip. What was missed was the Gouda covered Chicken Wings, they were not available this time. My guess is this is the best place in Havertown!!! read more

I've been to Brick and Brew several times, it's definitely a place that has character, but the operation isn't quite as polished as it could or should be. The menu is heavy on not-so-healthy dishes like pizza, fried chicken sandwiches, burgers, and French fries. However, portion sizes are fairly reasonable and I suppose if you're not eating here every day it won't be too bad for you. The craft beer selection is a bit off the beaten path, you can almost count on being able to try something new. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't keep up their beer menu quite as well as they should, the first 3 beers I wanted to try had kicked but their menus hadn't been updated yet. Service is decent, but whatever computer system they use to manage their kitchen seems to still have a few bugs in it. Despite the fact that the pizza is really thin and shouldn't take more than a minute or two to cook, the pizza my party ordered took 10 minutes longer than the rest of the entrees, so it was that awkwardness of do you wait for the rest of the food to come out while your food gets cold, or be rude and start eating before everyone has their food. read more

Used to really like the food at the smaller Brick & Brew location in Havertown. Seemed like every dish we tried at the old place was always "wow" good. Tried the new one on Eagle twice now and probably won't be back again. The spicy sausage pizza overall lacked flavor, and the taste that did come through was from the sausage having an "off" taste. The crust was great though, so I could imagine their other pizzas could be ok. We also had the shrimp po boy sliders. The buns were very nice, soft, squishy but also toasted on the inside. However, when I think "po' boy" I imagine the shrimp being plentiful. This was more of a bread slider with two shrimp. So if you took four bites, two would have shrimp and two would be just bread and slaw. On the positive -- the fries were good. Just like they used to be. Also, we had two cocktails and they were well made. Service was also good. And the ambiance is nice with high ceilings. Extra note on kids: We had our 3 year old with us. Although they do not have a kids menu, they offered to make chicken tenders and fries. The fries were good (as usual) but the tenders came out very dark with breading falling off. The meat itself was pretty chewy and over cooked. I don't blame them for this one though as it is not a standard menu item and they went out of their way to accommodate when they did not have to. Such a great find! My parents came to visit and we wanted a nice dinner, and we sure found it! However be warned there is limited draft beer despite the name, they have more speciality drinks. We came on a Saturday around 5:30-6pm and only had a 20 min wait however they were busy! I believe the restaurant is an old bank that was revamped into such a cute little restaurant! With so many appealing options, it was hard to chose. My parents both order a mixed drink which they thought was excellent and then decide to share some apps. The meeting board was delicious and enough to feed 3 people, the brisket, short ribs and pulled pork were cooked to perfection! It also had fries and tricolored tortilla chips on the board. The crab dinner was good as well, however it wasn't my mothers favorite, it did come with a whole bowl of bread on the side tho! Lastly I decided on the Mahi Mahi lettuce boats with avocado crème and pineapple cucumber salsa. This was one of the best meals I've eaten at a gastropub, it was light and refreshing! All the favors paired so well together and the fish melted in my mouth, however they were very messy so make sure to ask for extra napkins! My girlfriends & I decided to try this place one Friday evening. We were not able to make it for happy hour but we got there right when it ended and it was still super crowded. Despite how busy they were, and how small the restaurant is, thankfully when we showed up there was a table available and we were seated immediately. We each ordered different types of pizza. I got the short-rib, one of my friends got the margarita pizza, and the other a four cheese pizza. My pizza was AMAZING! I kinda wish it was more meat on it but overall it was great. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their pizza as well. It's super small inside so if you go during peak hours it will be busy, your wait will be longer and you'll feel a little crammed. Also, you will have to do street parking. If you're in the Havertown area, I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I met a friend at BricknBrew in Havertown. The service was good but not great. The burrata salad was wonderful and served with greens and berries. A great addition to the traditional. We both had the lobster roll. It was very good but just a little bit less mayo would have made it perfect. We were looking for someplace "new" to eat in Havertown and we're so glad we went here. We were seated right away, which was surprising for 1pm on Father's Day. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our table ordered the Prosciutto Fries, Confit Wings, Beet Salad, Brick & Brew Burger, Lamb Sliders and the "Specials Menu" Pork and Beans (which were Spare Ribs over taco beans) . Everything we ordered tasted amazing, our only disappointment/letdown was none of us could see or taste Prosciutto on the fries, I'm not sure if it was mixed in with the cheese or buried in the onions. I'm not sure if it was needed for these fries but it would have been nice to have that flavor. The homemade ketchup was very good and adds a nice vinager taste to the fries *if you're not a fan of vinager, you may not like the ketchup. Also, no e of us tried any of the beers or drinks but from the descriptions we will be on our next visit. Overall I would say we are definitely looking forward to eating here again and trying more items from the menu. read more

Our group wasn't too big on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening and we got seated really quickly. For our starters we got the hummus & crab dip. As a main I went for the burger which came with fries. Solid choices all around. They've got a good size draft list that changes every so often as well your regular bar drink options. The spinach salad is beyond anything I could've expected. I can never order one because restaurants love to add a bunch of fruits and some weird dressing to their spinach salad so best believe when I saw a "normal" one I had to try it. And then it came I could go without the capers but they had hot peppers in there too which was amazing. The dressing was excellent too. I don't know about what whiskey sour are supposed to taste like but the waitress told me they were #1 in a big competition so I went for it. It's delicious but then again it's hard for me to dislike any cocktails lol. I definitely cannot wait to come back (as I'm writing my review while finishing my drink) and try the hummus. What a nice place! It was our first time and we loved it. Very clean and sanitary...you could really tell the staff kept the place nice and clean. Steve the Manager came over to make sure we were comfortable and our Server Haley was awesome! She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She explained the mask wearing policy in the dining room and knew the menu inside and out! On our way out, Steve the Manager even got the door for my girlfriend and I and wished us well! We went to the new location in Havertown last night and it has one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen in a restaurant! It was such a treat to sit down in such a lovely atmosphere. Reservations are recommended but the staff seated us despite not having one. The server was adorable and so friendly- she informed us she was working a double shift and she couldn't have been nicer! The staff was extremely on top of things and our food came quickly. I had the new Philly Cheesesteak with the cauliflower bites (they were delicious) and for dessert had the caramel beignets (pictured)- it was like eating a hot glazed doughnut in a sinfully good sauce with oreo sprinkles. I was so full (but in a good way). Will definitely be back to sample their drink menu, can't wait to try the Marilyn Monroe ! We will absolutely be back! read more

I was excited about visiting the new rooftop lounge at Brick & Brew in Havertown! Unfortunately, it was a one & done experience for me. Reservations required which is no problem but maybe someone might have mentioned that there was an entertainment fee addd to your check. Also, no menus for the apps. Our waiter told us there was a pretzel tray & hummus tray. We ordered one of each & they also brought a 3rd appetizer that he didn't mention. All of these apps were 1st delivered to the wrong table & then brought to our table directly from wrong table. When check arrived, the unmentioned app was $39, entertainment fee $20 & they took it upon themselves to add a 20% gratuity for mediocre service. I have been to both locations and favor media much more. The location of this one is poor, the parking stinks unless you want to feed a meter. Hopefully you don't feel awkward to park in a neighborhood and walk, because that's what I had to do. You may luck out and get a spot out front though! The ambiance is great and the menu is fantastic as well. Definitely a casual bar that every city should strive to have. I have a gripe because the menu online is not honored at this location. The bartender was admittedly argumentative with me saying that a beverage online was seasonal and hasn't been offered in a long time (I got it a week prior in media, and it was online!). Checked out the new Brick & Brew in Havertown with the family last night. Very Center City vibe to the design of the place. Best described as upscale pub food. Right in the heart of Havertown on Eagle Road. Was formally the Oakmont Pub. I had the burger special which had shaved pork belly, gouda cheese and a grilled green tomato served on a croissant which was somewhat unique. I ordered it medium and it came out more on the well side. Overall an interesting take on the burger. I would give it a 3 out of 5. The rest of the family ordered pizza: four cheese pizza (daughter), spicy sausage pizza (son), wild mushroom pizza (wife). My wife and son gave their pizzas a thumbs up. I tried my wife's and would give it a solid 4 out of 5 as it was served with three kinds of mushrooms, goat cheese and pesto. Very good. My daughter's pizza came out a good seven minutes after all of our food was served which was disappointing. An alert manager noticed the situation and proactively came to our table to provide an update. It turned out the pizza was not up to the B&B quality standard so they started a new one for her. We were provided another update as apparently the second pizza they made for her was a dud so they finally got it right on the third time. I certainly appreciate them not serving a pizza that was not to their standard of quality. My daughter was expecting the pizza to be a red pizza but the four cheese pizza is a white pizza. She asked for a side of red sauce which came out a few minutes later. I must admit I was surprised to see a charge for this additional sauce on our bill especially after the long delay in serving her pizza and the fact that the menu did not indicate that the pizza was a white pizza. In my view, that is an easy comp. We also ordered the weekly wing special which was buffalo maple horseradish sauce. I must admit that I am a bit of a wing connoisseur and can be picky when it comes to grading wings however - and my 18 year old son would back me up on this - these wings may have been the best wings I have ever had. The meat literally fell off the bone and the wings were sauced perfectly - not swimming in sauce like some places serve them. Well done B&B and you may consider adding those wings to your permanent menu (5 of 5). With the word Brew in your name, I expect a well curated and lengthy craft beer list and Brick & Brew's is not. Maybe they are still working on it but the list of IPAs was underwhelming. I had a Troeg's Nugget Nectar and a Levante Tickle Parts, both fantastic beers but I was hoping to find something from a little off the beaten path or something that I never had before. Other locals served on the list included 2SP and DogfishHead. My wife had one of their signature cocktails - the Darby Road which is served with prosecco and an orange liqueur. There may have been something else in it as well. She gave it a thumbs up. The overall interior was fantastic. As I mentioned above, it had a Center City design vibe with large chandeliers over the bar area and tree branches and greenery weaving their way up the walls and ceiling. Tin ceilings and large windows also add to the pleasant interior. A lot of hard surfaces so somewhat loud though we had no problem carrying on a conversation. Each table had clear plastic dividers between each other and the staff was all wearing masks and appeared to be cognizant of current regulations as someone tried to order a drink at the bar but was denied. Below is my final score for the Brick & Brew in Havertown. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I am sure it will continue to improve and work out its wrinkles. The stars do not reflect my feeling on the restaurant itself. Love the food, drinks, and servers. My issue is with the inability to make a friggin reservation. My family and I, 6 of us this time, had dinner here and everyone loved it. We have tried to return FOUR times, and can't get a table. I've tried multiple times to reserve a table, and you simply refuse to take reservations. I have officially given up trying to patronize this establishment. If this is somehow an error, or if there's something I'm missing, please contact me, as we would love to return. But I can't guarantee I can get to a restaurant at 5 to hold a table for 9 people (the usual number of us) when we can't all get there until 7. Kind of ridiculous, in my opinion. Hi, Brian. The shop had a nice design, but the drinks were expensive and the dishes weren't worth it, didn't really like them. Our server was quite pushy to kick us out, we had to eat in a hurry because they didn't inform us that they would close in an hour from the time we arrived.
