Love brick & brew. They have awesome specials, i usually end up eating from that menu, but I've also had plenty from the normal menu. I am not from around this area but my dentist's office is 15 minutes from this place and I discovered brick and brew on yelp with the highest ratings so my bf and I decided to go have dinner here. From the cocktail menu, We tried their speakeasy and their whiskey sour and both of them were absolutely delicious, but speakeasy was my fav. We ended up ordering 2 rounds of it. For apps, we tried their veg sliders, lettuce wrap and mushroom pizza. I loved the pizza and the sliders. I wasn't a big fan of the lettuce wrap though. I just didn't like eating whole chunk's of chicken with it. I think I prefer ground chicken with lettuce wraps. I must come here after all of my doctor's appointment. I love this place. My husband and I are determined to become regulars there. The food is great. We generally either eat off the specials menus, which changes every week, or have a few appetizers. The pizza is pretty good too. Many people swear by it, but that's not why I go there. My favorite things so far are the fried pickles and the deviled eggs. I also really like their salads and sliders. The cocktails are also good. I'm a fan of the Darby Road, but have had their mojito and the Billy Penn, both good, but the Darby Road is still my favorite. If you're a beer fan, they have you covered there, too. A very solid selection that rotates regularly. The place is often crowded, especially on the weekends. Expect to wait, and there's not much room to stand. Have a drink at the bar, relax and get ready for some good food. Or go during the week when you might not have to wait. read more

I wanted so badly to like B&B, but it just didn't work out. It's always so packed outside when I drive by so I had high hopes. We went for dinner tonight and we're not impressed. When we came in, it took a minute for someone to seat us and then she just kind of gestured generally to sit anywhere. Ok, no problem. Then, we waited 10 minutes for our waitress to appear to even offer a drink. It's not that big a place, so I'm not sure why that took so long--it was far from full. When our food came, my dining companion asked for ketchup but we were informed that they only had the house made ketchup (which he tried and really didn't like.) He said the bun of his burger tasted stale but wasn't about to flag down the waitress because every other interaction we had took so long. I got the chicken flatbread, and it was actually delicious. Really, the service was the main problem here. The waitress kept sitting down to chat with the people at the table next to us (I guess they knew each other.) When she got back to us, the bill took a few minutes to come, and it took another 8 minutes or so to get our card back and sign. The best part of this visit was my chicken flatbread, and the worst part was...everything else. Hope they can figure out how to fix the issues, but I have a feeling they'll survive just based on the lack of eat-in restaurants in that area. read more

I came here with family for dinner on a Saturday night. It was crowded, which I took as a good sign to mean it was well worth the wait. We had a group of 6, so we waited a little while for a table - this was totally fine by all of us, as we waited with drinks in hand. The food was good, but nothing that I would make a genuine effort to come back for. We ordered the fried pickles, and fries with roasted brussel sprouts over top, as appetizers. The fried pickles were soggy, but tasty. The fries could have been crispier as well, but again tasted good. I ordered the crab "PLT," which replaced bacon with pancetta. It was an interesting flavor combination, and overall a good sandwich. I probably would try something different if I were to visit again. I tried my sister's pepperoni pizza; again, nothing extraordinary, just a good pepperoni pizza. My main problem with Brick and Brew was the service. All of the pizzas came out first, with the remaining meals - all sandwiches - not coming out for almost an hour. I understand they have two separate areas, one for pizza and the other for everything else I suppose, but that is all the more reason to ensure that the kitchens/ovens/what-have-you are synced. Not only that, but the server was almost entirely unapologetic. He said "I hope the food was worth the wait," but really it wasn't. I very rarely give low Yelp ratings, but for me, the service was off-putting enough and the food so average that I don't think anymore than the 2-star "Meh, I've experienced better" Yelp rating is warranted. read more

Popped by for dinner on a Saturday after hearing all of the reviews. With a name like brew, I thought they made their own. Nah dude, but their tap list is decent. Fried pickles are the way to my heart and they have them, so it should have been love. They came out in thin ribbons, not like the typical fried pickles. I thought the shape made for too much coating and not enough pickle so I didn't care for them. However, I was with someone who hates pickles and loved these...so there you go. For my main meal, I ordered the brat. It was ok, but the mustard was quite spicy...and I like spicy. It was too strong for the brat to handle. I also had a bite of the fried chicken and porcetta. Both were ok. Service was nice, but at the end, we had to ask a neighboring table for a pen after waiting 10 minutes for one. I was in town visiting family when we were looking for a place to have drinks and a bite to eat. We were not disappointed with Brick and Brew. The first thing I noticed was the beer selection. I am a bit of a beer snob and the draught selections were really varied and appealing. I totally applaud their choices which I hear change often to provide great variety. I was not in a beer mood and since whisky/bourbon is my liquor of choice, I opted for the Whisky Sour which is advertised as the house special. OMG! It was the best whisky sour of my life! I could have drank a dozen of these easily they were so tasty. They are made with this Blood Orange infused Bourbon.....it was to die for. I passed the drink around for others to try and even those who are not whisky drinkers were impressed! We ordered the crab dip and fried pickles as appetizers. The crab dip was ok. I think I would have liked it better without the grilled pita and instead served with a chip, a cracker, or toasted baguette. The grill flavor on the pita contrasted with the taste of the dip in a way that was not complimentary. The fried pickles, however, were fantastic! I am from Tennessee originally and live in Georgia. We know our fried pickles! These were the best I ever had. Most fried pickles are made from hamburger pickle chips and are done in a flour/cornmeal batter (almost like fried green tomatoes). Not these! These were long thin sliced pickle cuts that were fried in a tempura-like batter and served with a spicy thousand island-like remoulade sauce. They were so good!! For dinner, we ordered different pizzas on the menu and split them. We had the jumbo lumb crab, the short rib, and the wild mushroom. They were all excellent. I particularly loved the wild mushroom! The goat cheese and pesto combination was very tasty. The horseradish and gorgonzola mixture on the short rib was also a wonderful combination. And if you don't like the truffle cream on that crab pizza, then you are crazy! All in all, I would recommend Brick and Brew. It is a small place, so come early to find a seat! read more

This place is pretty consistent. I think consistency is key. I was out the other night though, and stopped in with my wife. We put our name in and asked the server about how long the wait was for two she said she did not know and they did not give out wait times. She said we could go to the bar and have a drink if we wanted. We weren't interested in hanging at the bar so my wife and I went a few doors down to a coffee shop. We came back in less than 10 minutes to check and they said since we weren't there they had to give a table that came up away. This policy of not giving a time is frustrating. Every place we go they give you a time. I guess they're trying to drum up bar business. Isn't it the hostesses job to gauge the restaurant and figure out how long tables are going to be available? And to make matters worse while waiting again for the table I checked in to make sure she knew we were on a bench outside. I asked how long it was going to be and she became rather dismissive. Seems counterproductive to make your customers walk away without giving them an estimate of a table wait.Given the very many Gastropub places available in the area. There's town tap down the street there's places in Ardmore Teresa's in Wayne and the goats beard among many other options. I hope this policy of not giving a time goes away it will definitely make me hesitate to go back to brick and brew. read more

M and I are bad Havertown residents in that we never EVER go to Havertown restaurants. (Except for a certain breakfast place, but that's about it.) When it comes to dinner, we normally make the trek into the city. This all changed on one fateful night when M was all, "Hey, let's check out Brick & Brew," and I was all "Whaaaatttt?" I'm very pleased to say that I liked it here and would be happy to come back quite soon. The interior is very cool, with lots of dark wood and beer paraphernalia. I ordered the fried pickles and the flatbread special (shrimp, mozzarella, tomato, basil). M got the prosciutto fries and the fried chicken sandwich. The fried pickles were interesting. They're housemade and cut very thinly lengthwise (think those sandwich-cut pickles). The breading wasn't too heavy, but I thought it was very oily. The dipping sauce was great, though. My flatbread was great. It was essentially a margarita pizza with shrimp. But, you know, flatbread. M's prosciutto fries were pretty good, but were lacking a lot of prosciutto. I am, however, a huge fan of their fries here. They are handcut and very crispy. Double thumbs up. I didn't have a bite of M's chicken sandwich but he said he liked it a lot. I really want this place to be better. But it's pretty good as it is. Food was good not great. The place (space) is great and the menu and beer situation is great. Brussels sprouts were good though some were burnt. But I'd get them again. The pizza was good but I've been to other places that make the kind of neoploitan pizza that this place aspires to and the flavor just wasn't as exuberant as the other like dimeo's. it's so close to my house that ill go back and soon but I just wish it was a lot more flavorful. I came here on a Saturday night with a cousin of mine and his family. They live a few minutes away and have been raving about this place for awhile. Every so often I'd get a pix message of the weekly specials and get jealous. Well, I finally got to see what this place was all about ... ... and it did not disappoint at all. Man, this place is awesome. We waited for about an hour to get seated, and we put our name in around 6pm. They had an excellent list of drafts and mixed drinks for while we waited, and the prices were great. I suggest the "Darby Road" if you've never had it. Refreshing and delicious. My little cousin was starving and we asked the hostess if we could get an order of fries. We were seated shortly after, and the fries were there waiting for us. For a small, crowded place they really had a handle on it. Kudos. As for the food ... this is next level bar food. The hand-cut fries and the homemade ketchup are absolutely delicious. We ordered just about all of the appetizers and they were fantastic. Weekly special wings, a deliciously light pretzel with some weird but tasty mustard, a veggie flatbread, and a margherita pizza. Everything was great. We primarily got sandwiches for dinner, and I got to taste the bison sliders, the crab "PLT", and the pulled pork. If I wasn't so full from the appetizers I could have easily eaten an entire sandwich of each. I absolutely loved all three. We also got each of the four desserts that they offer and the Nutella cookie was definitely the highlight. It is an absolute MUST to get that dessert if you're coming here for food. This is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to around the area. I would come back here in a heart beat, and being a college student in the Bryn Mawr/Ardmore area it was so nice to get a break from the usual. My group and I came on a Wednesday night, not really expecting to to be as busy as it was and were SO glad we waited. First of all, the hostess was amazing and made every accommodation for us and really worked with us trying to get us a table as soon as possible. We were able to sit/stand at the bar and order some appetizers while we waited and then were sat. I can't say enough about how excellent the service was from every member of the staff at brick n brew. And the food and drink was even better. Their signature cocktails are to die for and the food is quite unique but delicious in every way. I had the speakeasy to drink, we all tried the prosciutto fries, Buffalo mac, and fried pickles, and loved each one! For my entree I went with the wild boar sliders but honestly I think everything listed would've have been equally as delicious and to end it all we ordered a bread pudding for the table. I really can't say enough about this place, if you haven't been it's an absolute must. I plan on bringing my whole family back here come graduation time! read more

We visit Havertown each year, and were so excited to see a place like Brick n Brew. The menu looked great, the beer selection looked fantastic, and the decor was cool. We left really dissatisfied. If they fixed these issues, though, we'd definitely go back: (1) Burgers were very undercooked. Our medium burgers were very rare, and the well done burgers were medium rare. (2) When we told our server, she apologized but didn't offer to fix it. (3) Someone (server or cook) forgot one of our kids' orders, which means we finished eating before one of the kids was served. (4) They need to make their beer list visible to customers. It's silly to have the servers try to describe them from memory. By the time the server got to the eighth beer on the list, we couldn't remember the first one, and we had no idea what any of them were (other than the names) anyway. The locals we were with said that their other visits were equally frustrating. The beer we got was good. The buttermilk chicken sandwich was AMAZING. The pizza was ok. The burgers were bland and livery. We look forward to coming back once they're past their growing pains. This restaurant has a lot of promise. read more

I'm sad....second Sunday of the 2015 year we , me my gf and another couple stopped by for a bite . I told them how great and how me and my gf loved this place. Sadly when we arrived we ordered a bloody marry and to our surprised the bar tender who was a male told us that Sunday was not a good day to get a bloody marry that Saturday were the best day for them because they were not as crowded. He advised us that brick and brew was a whiskey bar and that they served whiskey drinks. Folks, we love this place and have been many many times. But this just surprised me when I heard that. Second, I have dined here on fridays, Saturday's or and suday, on that Sunday was not as busy as passed days. We grabbed a seat by the pizza bar and ordered several items on the menu. Let's just say that only half arrived and when I asked the waiter where were the rest of the order I got a " I forgot to add the rest". At that point I wanted to get up and walk out but because I was not there along I didnt. Again, we love this establishment and have conversated with the owner which we also like since they are very involved, but am afraid that such service will hurt their great gem of a restaurant. It does get very crowded and you're not allowed to sit at a table unless you order food, which sometimes sucks because we like to drink and play cards, but it's understandable on busy days. The bartenders are always nice and friendly and knowledgeable. The food is amazing and always changing. We've only had one not so good experience with a server who forgot about us and a manager who didn't seem to care. This place remains as a solid dining destination. The only trouble here is that if you are waiting for a table you cannot help but feel like you are constantly in the way. B&B is relatively small and they do their best to cram in as many tables as possible. By now you probably know that the beer selection here is what the Beastie Boys would call as "crafty". The creativity doesn't stop with the beer menu either. I also like their homemade ketchup, the water bottles on the table and the usage of cigar boxes for the check. The menu is not very large but at the same time is packed with solid options from the starters to the pizzas and the sandwiches. This was the second time my wife and I were there. Sadly it's two strikes so far. I'm really not interested in three strikes. Wasn't too crowded but still had to wait. Food is average pub food. I had the veggie panini with fries it was ok. My wife had a burger. Our waiter was average and not very attentive but cheery. Overall the staff needs to at least attempt to not have you wait for even a glass of water like we did. -The horrendous part was the hostess. We wanted a table for two. There would be a wait, no problem, so we went to the bar by the front for a drink. The hostess came over and said we can take the table for two right behind us at the front with the nice outside view. After it was cleaned and we were stepping 6' over to our table she seated two ladies who just walked in. I guess she didn't notice the shock in our faces. We loved this place. My fiance and I was just looking for a cool spot to have dinner, and this place exceeded expectations. The tables are close together, but this is a great thing because we had a blast with our neighbors. They even shared their fried pickles with us. Our server was very knowledgeable and super hospitable. He grabbed me a hotwing sample just because he saw me compromise to the other wing flavor.
