Overall, Brick and Brew is an excellent restaurant with exceptional food and an inviting atmosphere. The wait staff are kind, and the menu is flexible enough to accomodate any diet. It provides a great dining experience, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice restaurant to dine. Brick and Brew opened its first location in Havertown to the realization that the location wasn't quite large enough to seat the crowds of ravenous customers. There is often a wait when you walk in, but the kind wait staff attempt to seat you as soon as possible. If you've brought a well mannered dog, Brick and Brew has multiple outdoor tables for you and your furry friend to dine at. Inside, you can choose to be seated at the high tops, booths, bar, or the pizza bar, where you can watch the variety of pizzas being made. The restaurant is decorated in a rustic style, with a lot of wood decor, including a wooden American flag. There isn't much standing room, so it gets tightly packed easily once there is a wait. A single restroom is available, which is appropriate for the size of the restaurant, but once again underestimating the popularity.     Once you are seated, you have a large selection of scrumptious appetizers and entrees, appropriate for a big meal or simply a snack. The food ranged from pretzels and flatbreads to burgers and pizzas, all custom made to suit the customer's needs. This also means that every menu item is fresh out of the oven so you don't have to eat anything at less than the perfect temperature. When I last went and ordered a margherita pizza, it was baked to perfection. It was a flawless combination of cheese, sauce, and crust, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to dine at Brick and Brew. The burgers are also excellent, and they have salads and sandwiches for vegetarians and vegans. The desserts are all showstoppers, including items such as fried cheesecake and a chocolate chip hazelnut cookie a la mode, both of which are dishes made in heaven. We had the prosciutto fries which were outstanding, and more than enough for 2 people. Then I had the pork belly sliders and my girlfriend had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Both very good, but we couldn't finish because we were too full from the fries. We sat at the pizza bar, where the chef was very friendly. Service as a whole was excellent...quick and attentive. Food here is decent for Havertown. The place is just too small. It was less of a headache in the summer when they had outdoor seating and a place for people to wait. Stay away from this place on the weekends and stick to off peak hours to really enjoy yourself. Considering how busy it's been the several times I've been there, the staff is very attentive and friendly. Let's face it, if this place was in the city it would be nothing special. But the quality of the food and beer selection work for Delco. Do yourself a favor and sit at the back bar in front of the brick oven and chat with the pizza cooks if they aren't too busy. read more

The Brick and Brew is a great addition to the local bar / pub food scene and a much appreciated change of pace for Delco. They offer an incredible selection of beer and whiskey served by a knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is relaxing and hip like many similar places in the city - the open kitchen is a nice touch. The food is good, though I have not yet found anything on the menu I'd call great. The only real negative here is that it gets very crowded. I have been here in the afternoon on both saturday and sunday and had to fight for a seat both at the bar and for a table. Consider this problem a testament to everything they are doing right! I came here for the first time with my girlfriend's about 2 months ago. We sat in the back by the pizza oven! We all had such a good experience because out pizza guy was super awesome! One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood if not the best. Definitely makes the best mixed drinks around. Love the whiskey sour. All the drinks are amazing. Its great to see a place like brick n brew in havertown. Reminds me of the places i love to visit in the city. Came here sunday at 1pm. I thought they would have a brunch menu, but since they didnt thought we would check out the regular menu. Had the hummus and the wedge salad. Hummus was a great portion, took half home. Salad with pancetta and gorgonzola dressing was fine. My wife ordered the grilled cheese, delicious. I love grilled cheese. Not sure what cheeses were used but it was great. Service was fine. After spending a day stripping wallpaper we decided to head out to grab a bite to eat as neither of us wanted to cook at that point. Just driving by and knowing nothing about the restaurant outside of the word BEER in the name and outdoor seating on a beautiful day we decided to take a chance. We were glad we did. Just walking up with our dog we were able to be seated outside and a quick look around at others plates as we were settling in showed the food was above avg. There is a french onion type dipping appetizer we tried (a bit on the sweet side) but still delicious. For our main meal I had the fried chicken sandwich and she had a burger. Both were cook to perfection and delicious. The burger was juicy and the chicken crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The beer selection is very good along with spirits. I will warn you the beer/wine/spirit prices are expensive. $5 for a bottle of Angry Orchard and the porter I ordered was $8 for a small glass. This is not someplace I would spend a significant amount of time drinking (or you will spend a significant amount of $ on your tab). Our waiter was top notch. There was an issue with our order that delayed it (computer issue we were told) but given how nice it was we did not really care. A bit too much Sublime was being played outdoors too. Maybe mix up the music some? Random? So, my recommendation would be go and enjoy the food and have some icetea. It will be a great meal. read more

Came here with my Book Club Wednesday, July 23. We were a large group so the wait was an hour because the place is tiny and packed to the gills with people. The bartender was a nice guy and let us sample beers before sitting down. I got the Terrapin's Peach which was delish. Great for summer! I ordered the pork belly sliders, which were the special and the beet salad. Beet salad was nice and refreshing and the cheese was very goat-y, which I like! Beets were super yummy. The pork sliders were also very good. I would have liked a liiittllee more fat since it was pork belly, but it was tasty. The fries were great and the pickle on the plate might have been my favorite thing! Homemade ketchup had a lot of vinegar in it, which is ok for me, but might not suit other people's taste. I do like ketchup a tad bit sweeter. Server was nice, but it annoys me when servers don't write things down and then something comes out wrong or in this case, she came back many minutes later to confirm the order and actually missed someone's. Took a point away for having to wait so long for a table as we were told people were leaving shortly and it took an hour for them to move along. Also because it was blazingly hot in there. Overall good experience...wish it were bigger, but I liked the food. read more

Went to Brick and Brew on a tuesday with my husband and were very pleased with everything this restaurant has to offer. The food was great, service PHENOMENAL, and drinks were on point. I really like this bar. It is one of the few bars in the area that reminds me of some of the nicer/relaxing/rustic beer bars that are in the city. The staff were friendly and helpful. The wait was long(about 30min) but that was ok. Gave me some time to have a few beers at the bar and look around. Looks like they put a lot of time when they were designing the bar. Looks great. When we were seated i order a cocktail, the capone. It was very good. Our waitress was great and had some suggestions for us about some drinks. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. This was the only bad part of our meal. The chicken was very dry and may have been slightly over cooked( it happens, no big deal). One bad meal will not stop us from coming back. As we walked up to the restaurant, the outdoor tables were filled. The inside was packed, but luckily the hostess was able to seat us right away. It was 6pm. Our party of 4 sat by the pizza bar in the back. The decor was really neat, fire house themed in places. However our seats were round bar stools with no backs that were very uncomfortable for sitting on for a full dinner. Our server was very friendly and checked on us through the night. The cocktails were delicious and unique. The food was delicious however the arancini appetizer was hard to split. It was one large fried rice ball rather than a few smaller balls. They had homemade ketchup on the tables and served water in repurposed bourbon glass jars. The one problem we had was when three of us received our sandwiches but a pizza was so delayed that we all finished over half our meals before he received his. It wasn't really acknowledged or apologized for and it would have been nice to at least get an apology or maybe even a comped app for the long wait without reason. Overall though the food, service, and atmosphere was very enjoyable, lively, and tasty. read more

Decent beer list with a fair at best menu of food offerings. In an attempt to bring the City to Havertown, this place does an average job. The beer list is great, but they discourage tastings. Instead they try to upsell to a flight of different beers. I only want to taste one or two beers to find one I like. They complied with my request after I insisted that is what I wanted and we all found beers we liked. But they are very overpriced. $7 for an interesting IPA. I have been to many places in Philly, and this is above what I have paid at any of them. Server was in a rush to get our food order. Never gave us silverware, or even cloth napkins. I had pizza, and while the toppings were desirable, the dough left a lot to be desired. It was flat, but not thin. It was not chewy nor crispy. It looked like the dough was not fresh as it was not like crust at other brick oven pizzerias. Fries were tasty! Atmosphere is trying too hard to be cool. Place is too well lit, with too many different types of eclectic fixtures. Music is uninteresting at best. Sounds like a tape from someones bad college collection 30 years ago. Weird way to deliver check in a wooden cigar or game box. Probably will not head back unless I am nearby, and tired wanting a brew and not feeling like heading to the real thing in Philadelphia. read more

Went here last night for our 4th anniversary. We were looking to just chill at a nice little bar spot and this was definitely a fit for what we had in mind. Because of the crowd this place had, we thought we would be waiting long. That was not the case. We we're greeted and seated almost instantly. I've been here twice for drinks over the summer, so this review is solely based on the drinks, atmosphere, and service. 4 stars for atmosphere! It reminded me of my favourite bar in college that's also a brick oven pizza/bar place. So what didn't I like about it? It was incredibly hot inside the day I went and the music is a hit or miss. 3 stars for service. The bartenders can take a while, but the servers are really attentive and friendly. 2 stars for the drinks. I ordered a Mojito and a custom martini with the recipe provided. They said they could sub for missing ingredients but it tasted like poo and didn't even use cream/half and half for my martini. The mojito tasted delicious but the mint was so muddled, I felt as if I was eating a salad. I was worried about getting mint stuck in my teeth at one point. I haven't tried the food yet, but I hope to return someday. read more

Good place: great selection of great draft beers and awesome pizza. Cool staff - at least when they aren't busy as all get out: this place can get really crowded. They have lots of personalized touches: they make their own ketchup and pickles. That's neat, but it can also be a drawback. The personalized touch shouldn't be more important than food flexibility. For example, the Brick and Brew burger comes with pepperocini relish and Muenster cheese. As far as the sandwich goes, it is really good - probably one of the better ones on the Main Line. But if you ask for it with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and normal pickles and ketchup, they will look at you weirdly: they don't have regular condiments. Strange and sad. Their pickles and ketchup are interesting and flavorful, but they don't taste like regular pickles and ketchup - and sometimes, that is exactly what you want. read more

Solid beer list, albeit slightly overpriced, with plenty of selections. Lots of hard to find beer, but pours tend to be a little stingy for the price. The menu is solid. I would avoid the pizza, as it is really just average. Stick with the starters and sandwiches. Short rib grilled cheese is big enough for two, and terrific. The burger, fried chicken sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich are all really good. The fried pickles and wings are real stand-outs on the starters menu. While we don't often go for dessert, the times we have here have been okay. Nothing to write home about. Go here for the beer and sandwiches. The space is really pleasant. Cozy feel. Gets really crowded on the weekends, and outside tables during the summer are hard to come by when the weather is nice. Worth the wait though. read more

A cute and cozy restaurant with spectacular food and service. It can sometimes be overpriced. Not a lot of tables so there is tight seating. Sometimes a long wait. They opened another pub in Media and are moving their Havertown address to the old Oakmont Pub. You walk up to Brick & Brew and automatically get welcomed by the gorgeous twinkling lights that hang outside. The lights add a comforting feeling to the basic outside seating. As you walk inside you get a rustic Americana vibe. The tiny gastropub has very few tables, a bar, and a pizza bar. Which often leads to a 15 minute-1 hour wait. And don't bother calling before you go because they don't take reservations. Thankfully the most recent time my Mom and I went we were seated right away at the bar. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. She recommended dishes when we were stuck on the long specials menu. Although, the rest of the menu is very limited. On a whim, we ordered the confit wings as an appetizer. They were delivered expeditiously. The wings were seasoned perfectly and came out at just the right temperature. They fell off the bone as they hit my mouth. I had about 4 flats as in my opinion they are better than the wings. Not long after we ate the wings we ordered our dinners. My Mom and I both ordered off the specials menu. I ordered the classic Mexican empanadas and my Mom ordered the arugula and fig dressing flatbread. In a short amount of time, our dinner was served. But the time it takes to receive our food usually varies. I took about 3 bites of the empanadas and it was just not my thing. The meat and tortillas were overpowered by avocado, salsa, and corn. Yes, 3 of the best foods ever but they were bland and very overwhelming. The second I tried my mom's flatbread I was never the same. That was the first time I tried arugula and let me tell you I'd try it again. The fig dressing was to die for. Every single bite I tried to savor. The two ingredients on top of the soft flavorful flatbread may not be your ideal mixture but they were delicious. I ended up having more than my mom! I even suggested to the waitress that they should put it on their permanent menu. After we finished the best meal ever we ordered the Charlies cookie. The warm cookie and vanilla ice cream were good but I barely had any since it was covered in salt. Salted caramel is good but all I could taste on the entire dish was salt. So we are never ordering that again. When we got our bill it was a little pricey but we knew that when we came there. read more

B&B is a great choice if you're in the neighborhood and it's not too pricey for an average night out. With pub-style food and kind service, it places itself among the best in Havertown. It's food is perfect for a dinner with some friends or family and I definitely suggest it to you! After a conflicting 15 minutes, deciding to sit down at Brick & Brew was positively our best choice in the matter. Although known for it's savory brick oven pizzas, B&B serves a variety of dishes from oysters and wings to salads, sandwiches, desserts and traditional pub pickings. It also offers specials that differ constantly. And for the adults, it's bar menu is vast and takes up at least 4 front and back pages of their menu! When my friends and I took our seats, we ordered a lobster mac 'n' cheese as our appetizer and it surely lived up to its waitress-pitched hype. It was in a miniature cast iron skillet atop a uniquely shaped wooden tray and really added to the whole feel of the restaurant. A brick oven pepperoni pizza, a pasta skillet, and a wedge salad also assisted our assessment of the restaurant. The service at Brick & Brew is very compliant and the servers are plenty amiable and hospitable. They stopped in for water and well-being checks often, but not so much as to interrupt the meal. Brick & Brew isn't necessarily a child friendly place, seeing how its main franchise is alcohol, but it surely is pleasant. It's not very loud but the outdoor seating, depending on the person, can be a slight inconvenience being right next to such a busy road. But the design is quite pleasing to the eyes. It's dimly lit and has old-fashioned pub aspects. Outside, there are rustic lanterns hanging above the tables and the water is even served in a tall glass stylized like an old whiskey bottle. The price ranges from as low as $6 to $16, all quality food. The whole restaurant has a friendly and generally sylvan feel. read more

In town visiting family and wanted a beer with lunch so decided to give this place a try. We had the Boars sliders and peperoni pizza. The Tennent Ale was outstanding. As for the wait staff, our waitress was very friendly and attentive and did her job well. As for the food, the pizza was classic Philly and the Boar sliders were delish.
