It would be 4-5 stars easy on those merits. The big negative for me is the noise volume inside... on my most recent visit, I ended up putting my noise canceling headphones in to tone down the volume, and it was still kinda loud. Go, enjoy the food, enjoy the beers on tap, tip your waitress, but pick a cool day and sit outside.

To start we got the Trendler Dopplebock which had a delightful caramel, toffee and malty flavors in the beer which made the beer pretty enjoyable to drink. The beer we really liked however was a session stout, a type of stout that you don't come across very often. This beer was called the Crushable Void which had a great smooth, roasty, creamy and malty flavors with a low ABV . Like all session beers they are made to drink at a slow pace throughout the day and this stout definitely fits into that category nicely. *Update* Thanks to a fellow Yelper there is another Tired Hands location that remains open under a separate Yelp entry, the Tired Hands Fermentaria remains open. Brick and Brew is an alright-at-best family restaurant that serves good to ok food, but ends up serving food that is too strong for my liking. It's a great place if you know what to order. I'd give it 3 bricks out of 5. Have you ever experienced the feeling of eating at Brick & Brew? I did and it was a rollercoaster. A nice interior theme of the restaurant immerses you in a calm, upscale, and medieval environment. his calm experience is quickly snatched away as you peer out the window and see the busy suburban landscape. If Brick & Brew were located differently the interior experience would be enhanced. Brick & Brew looks well established in the area, which is good for bringing in new customers, but the bold flavors of the food may not keep young customers. The staff was humble, and very down to earth even admitting the food wasn't the best which wouldn't be a good precedent for newcomer customers. I ordered the Moroccan meatballs, the prosciutto fries, and the Charlie's cookie. I also had some of my dad's wings. Overall, Brick & Brew's food was too bold to bear. I found it either too salty or too sweet. The food is the equivalent of heavy metal in the 80s, too loud, too bold, and becoming way too popular. Some of the entrees on the menu like the prosciutto fries were a bright spot with nice seasoning and flavors that stuck out in a good way. But the Moroccan meatballs were too sweet for my liking. The wings and regular fries were good but will become repetitive the more you eat them. The Charlie cookie was a plus with a nice texture and a "gramma's homemade cooking" type of feel but didn't redeem the Morocco meatballs. read more

I consider myself to be quite the food snob, and because so don't eat in Havertown often. However, after hearing so much about this trendy, new hot spot I decided to give it a shot. My only disappointment is that I waited so long to go to Brick and Brew! I did not have to wait long to be seated, most likely because I arrived before the dinner rush. The server, Brett, was quick to greet us and appropriately attentive throughout the night. Because it was a Friday during Lent, we thought that our menu options may be limited. Boy were we wrong! Brett made wonderful recommendations for dinner and helped my friend and I select the perfect beer for our palates. My friend and I started with the scallops (a special that night). They were amazing. We followed by splitting the lobster mac and cheese and the crab pizza. The mac and cheese was delicious, and there was a surprisingly large amount of lobster. The brick oven crab and asparagus pizza was cooked perfectly, and again, a significant amount of seafood. Throughout my visit, a number of staff, including the owner, stopped by our table to greet us. Everyone I encountered was so happy and appeared to truly enjoy their jobs. Stopped by a few nights ago to check out this place that I have heard so much about. Ended up waiting for a few minutes for a seat, but that was fine. The bartenders were quick to serve my husband and I. She was extremely knowledgable about the extensive beer list and made wonderful recommendations. We were seated at the pizza bar, which added so much to our experience. The chef, John, was pleasant and talked to us throughout the night. The food was beyond phenomenal. We started with the fried pickles and a scallops special. Both were absolutely amazing. For our entrees, we decided to split a pizza, and chose the crab pizza. Perfection is the best word to describe this pizza. The crust was delicious. There was a large amount of crab, as well. Instead of dessert, we decided to order specialty cocktails. I had the habanero margarita. Wonderful! Throughout our evening out, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff was friendly and fun, yet professional and courteous. Meh....1st time here, not impressed. The Good: outdoor seating, clean, bartender made an excellent Old Fashioned cocktail, crab sandwich. The Not So Good: no waiting area or lobby, when the place is busy you're literally standing next to a couple eating (uncomfortable), interior noise volume very loud (hard to hear and have conversation), waitress we had absolutely sucked...we put in our order and about a half hour later had to ask her where our food was... Asked her to bring the wings 1st but instead brought all 3 plates (to a tiny outdoor table) which left us with no room and food which got cold, had to ask another server for more water, napkins, clear the table...why? Needless to say she received a poor tip, the wings were so-so at best with the brown-butter sauce, the prosciutto fries were not good, at all:( for $9 you would expect to get some fresh prosciutto on top and all over the fries; instead the fries were drowned in some mystery brown/watery sauce and no prosciutto...terrible:( Overall: too many other better choices to spend my $$. read more

I had such high hopes for this place...boy was I sorely let down! The decor and renovations from the old Peabody's are wonderful - I just wish the service and food matched that! The word on the street and the website is that that have "amazing" chefs working for them now-but the food does not represent that. Not sure where to start: pizza's are under sized and over priced, buttermilk chicken sandwich was nothing short of disgusting. Not sure who is training the servers/bartenders, but the owners should reconsider that person. Service was below average. Server was not knowledgeable of the menu/beverages and never came back to check on us! Owners need to understand that your staff is the face of your business! One plus was that the beer and selection of them is nice. Not going back. sorry! read more

My husband and I are obsessed with this place! A city-feeling spot in Havertown is pretty awesome...and the food and drinks are exceptional. A little known fact is that the owner refuses to have freezers on-premise, meaning that the food is always fresh and never frozen (isn't that the tagline for a supermarket?). Either way, the food is great and you can tell that the wings are marinated and fresh, and not just frozen chunks thrown into a deep fryer. Drinks = amazing - try the Speakeasy. Bartenders and servers = nice as pie. One warning: It gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so get there early or be prepared to wait a bit for a table. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Brick n' Brew is exactly what Havertown needs! From walking into the door and being greeted by smiles by the staff to being in one of coolest atmosphere I've seen in awhile. We had the Brussels Sprout App- Phenomenal!! We also had a Margherita Pizza - Delicious! And the Grilled Cheese - Knocked my socks off! I wanted another one of these but was too stuffed! Checked this place out. Good selection of interesting food on the menu. The fried pickles were great. We had several mixed drinks. They were very good, but also extremely expensive. Not much of a craft beer guy, but my buddies were there and liked the selection. I'd try it again. The service was only ok. Our waiter left us awhile between drinks when we could of used refills on our drinks. Our meals were decent but took quite awhile to come out. Tiramisu: it was as good as expected. Very well made Vanilla Panna Cotta: this was exceptional (like pretty much the rest of the meal) delicate and creamy, and a huckleberry compote (?) that was insanely good. A touch of salt was in there to make it positively sing. I could not more highly recommend giving this place a try. Absolutely the whole package. Loved it and will be back!

Speaking of pizza, some of my favorites are the shrimp scampi (although I miss the mixed seafood pizza they had a few years ago), the Philly special, and the chicken bacon ranch pizza is a favorite. For night dinners at these prices, I expected a relaxing atmosphere where I could enjoy the meal and conversation. Instead, the music played for staff's entertainment; it was so loud that it became difficult to relax and enjoy the experience. We asked the staff to lower the music, and it was lowered for about 10 minutes then was raised again. This is not creating a comfortable dining atmosphere for customers. The seating arrangement was also far too crowded. Some tables were less than two feet apart, making it very easy to overhear other customers' conversations--and for them to overhear ours. Polite standard rule is 3ft. space between tables rather than trying to fit in as many seats as possible. Having an ass in your face while eating when walking in between tables is gross! The food was good, but the loud music and overcrowded seating significantly took away from the overall experience. Unfortunately, because of the atmosphere, I won't be returning.
