    The Pig & Fig Pizza
    DeLisa R.

Adorable small place serving wood fire pizzas with a great selection of wines and beers. Happy hour from 5 to 7. Specialty sodas also available. This is not your normal pizza place. You can build your own traditional pie or try one of their specialty pizzas like the Fig & Pig or the Thai chicken. Great service. Delicious!

What a fantastic evening learning about, and tasting some fantastic wines. Brick and Brews is a casual family friendly neighborhood pizza place with an above average selection of wine and craft beers. Service was fantastic. A must try for foodies near Magnolia and the Woodlands. Yum-yum!!!

It was pretty good pizza. I love the chew of the crust, and the char was nice on some of the slices (and pretty intense on some others). I love to support any local business, so we will be back again to try some other combinations. The fig and pig and home run were good! I will try the margarita pizza next time. If you enjoy beer, they have so many on tap! I wish they offered Diet Coke (or any diet soda!), though. (Straws would also be awesome!) I did feel like paying $70 for two pizzas, two small salads, and two iced teas was a little exorbitant, but I guess that is to be expected going out to eat now.

    Charcuterie Board for 2

I really wanted to review Brick & Brews higher than 3 stars because the pizza was very good & the place has a very nice ambiance, but in the end I landed on a 3 out of 5 star review for the following reasons. The restaurant is really best set up to serve parties no larger than 4 due to building size & furniture. My party of 9 was directed to outdoor seating that wasn't ready for guests. We had to wait for the tables to be wiped down & dried due to leftover rain from morning showers when arrived for dinner. Also, temps dropped off into the 40s, so we were huddled around gas lamp heaters for warmth. It's not a negative, it just is what it is & it's something patrons should know going in. Another observation is that Brick & Brews is essentially a serve yourself restaurant. Ordering for our outdoor table for 9 was done by going inside to a computer at the bar. Not a big deal, but servers weren't coming by during the meal. A manager/owner looking person made a couple of appearances, but that's it. No drink refills were offered at any point. Our charcuterie board appetizer came with 2 types of salami -- regular & peppered. Turns out both types were pretty spicy, so my wife & kids gave it 2 thumbs down. The biggest negative for me was the bathroom situation. They only have a single unisex toilet for the whole place. While there, every person in our party that needed the restroom facilities had to wait. The food was high quality enough I would go back in a heartbeat with a smaller party, but I probably won't try to meet friends there again anytime soon. Favorite entrees from our visit were the "homerun" pizza & the "fig & pig" pizza. Gluten free crust options available.

Why 4 stars? Because the pizza is delicious, it's just hard to get. --- --- --- I bookmarked Brick and Brews long ago and have always wanted to try it. The thing is, when I attempted to do this months ago, no one would ever answer the phone for a pick-up order. I tried multiple times on multiple different days and had no luck. Fast forward a couple months and I was talking to someone who said they loved this place and I mentioned my issue. They said that they never have a problem with that, so I assumed maybe I just had some bad luck. Unfortunately when we attempted to do so many months later, the phone still rings until it just hangs up. My wife had to run to HEB anyway, which is right across the street, so she went in here to order in-person, did her grocery shopping, and then came back. Unfortunately the original quoted time was nowhere near what it ended up taking. So, with what I've written so far, it's hard to understand my rating is 4-stars. I do want to say this in their defense: according to my wife who saw the business first-hand, it's a very small operation. According to her view point, it may literally be a mom, dad and their two kids working here *end of list.* I'd imagine, if that's the case, they don't have the ability to take phone orders. But if that is true, it would be helpful to have a recording that says, "we don't accept pick-up orders." Because it's pretty annoying to call several times and never speak to someone. But now, let's talk about the best part of this experience: the pizza itself. It's amazing. Truly. Which is why it's such a shame that it's so inconvenient to order. We went with the Pig and the Fig, and the BBQ Beef Brisket. Both of these were divine. Truthfully, I was barely hungry when my wife arrived home with the pizza. And then I ate like 10 slices because I couldn't stop. This is definitely one of the best eateries in the area. But this is my plea: please answer your phone!

We entered to a friendly staff who sat us immediately. The vibe is very modern with some Mexican influence. We were with another couple and I think they were under the impression that this would be Tex-Mex, but it is not. For drinks I got a Mezcalina, my wife got a normal margarita normally I don't love Mezcal, but was feeling adventurous and this drink did not disappoint, it exploded with flavor and was my favorite drink I have had here. The bar program might be the best of any restaurant in the area, as it should be since they have a speakeasy as well. In my previous trip they brought us complimentary chips and salsa, but the time they brought Mexican hummus and pita. I was initially disappointed, but this was one of the more unique complimentary dishes I have had, and loved it. For starters, we got the TOSTADA CHUTORO, which was a tostada with raw fish and caviar. There were two, and although smaller bites to share, the flavor once again really shined through. I would say this is similar to a ceviche dish with really fresh fish and bright flavors.

Food was good, but I'm not sure if I could consider anything spectacular enough to justify some of the prices. I decided on the Aguachile Wagyu, which was perfectly cooked and paired with charred herbs. Very enjoyable for a small high-protein meal. My friend ordered Tacos de Filete, which she said were, "okay." We also had a few drinks... They were heavy pours. My only complaint is that the tajin-salt rims were more for decoration (smeared across the side of the glass and not very hygienic) rather than for the palette. Worth mentioning: We were never offered any chips or salsa, although I've read reviews where other patrons enjoyed some before their meal. Our server was friendly, but a bit disconnected.... Maybe that was the biggest problem - - the experience was diminished due to lackluster service.

We had a voucher for a complimentary dessert soufflé, but the savory option sounded too far tempting to pass up. So we gave in and ordered both! The Jambon & Gruyère Soufflé was the perfect balance of a custardy, airy, and fluffiness. A cappuccino was essential to round out the sweetness of the dessert. While the lack of latte art was a bit letdown, it was still a great pairing. As this is basic Spanish food cooking technique is paramount and current chef clearly does not understand/have skills. The gazpacho was recently overly thick and creamy (more bread and olive oil) and was lacking fresh vibrant vegetable flavor. Plus it wasn't as chilled in past (did they originally use a little bit of ice during pureeing? And now stopped). The paella was a total mess. It arrived soupy with a quarter inch of liquid still in bottom of pan. While not "overcooked " to mushy. The rice was well past al dente. Obviously achieving socarrat was impossible. While yellow it was lacking ANY distinct saffron flavor that it used to have. I also did not notice any threads- have they now gone to powdered saffron and cut back on amount too???? The Torta San Sebastian was still "very good" but it's crust was overcooked and gummy. TBH, it really wasn't that bad and normally I wouldn't comment but given above complaints I feel it is part of a trend. We have been coming here about 4X per year. Will still come back to try Tapas, but again their basic Spanish Tapas require a deft cooking technique- so we'll see how those go. Oh well, As George Harrison wrote in 1970 "All Things Must Pass" This is not an uncommon trend in Mom & Pop places - once successful, staff get hired to replace overworked family and quality deteriorates I kept it at 3 stars because food wasn't terrible nor inedible. Just nothing special. Poorly made average American version of European classics. I am also holding out hope that it gets better- I have to believe other regulars have commented (or did they just quietly stop coming? Which is the worse)
