OMG: I love this place! Very attentive staff; excellent food; and a wide choice of beverages. They are known for their pizza, which I did not have. We had calamari which had little bits of banana pepper, fried and mixed in: some of the best calamari I've had anywhere! Fish and chips was also very fresh and the Sidewinder fries were very different than what we were used to, but very delicious. We were always too full to have dessert so we didn't try any of that. They have live music some nights and you can see your schedule on their website. After 8 o'clock they only sell slices of pizza, but I'm told that the pizza is first class. Not a lot of food options in this area so was happy to try a new place. They have a happy hour special on pizza slices were were very cheap. You kind of get what you pay for as the slices are tiny but they were surprisingly tasty so I would still go for a couple of those again. French onion soup and new england clam chowder were both tasty but beware very salty. Reuben was good and the side winder potatoes things too. The clam chowder was also warm not hot. Such a cute place! While traveling through, we decided to stop for lunch somewhere before heading to our final destination for the day. We couldn't find too many restaurants around where we were and originally found a deli a short distance away. When we walked in, we felt a tad out of place and it looked a bit shady on the quality of food, so we left. We then found a Paul Bunyan statue and visitor center so figured we'd ask at the visitor center where to go. The nice man told us Brick and Stone. Glad we went! The young girl that was our waitress was super nice and chatted to us for a while about our travels. I had a Caesar salad and slice of pizza and my husband got their chopped cheese ( which is apparently a chopped up burger and not actually just chopped cheese). He really liked his burger, and my salad was ginormous. I'd highly recommend this place if you are traveling through. read more

I was a little apprehensive about coming here, after being disappointed with the bar we were at the previous night (located only a block away from this one), but by the end of the night, I was very happy that we came! I had the house burger, which was perfectly cooked (medium rare), and they had a nice selection of draft beers. One of the bartenders even educated us about the local whiskeys and bourbons. He then made me a delightful cocktail, made from a local whiskey, topped off with fresh-made meringue topping with a twist of lemon. Had my eye on this place for a while, now that it's open I went in to give it a go and oh man, glad I did! Very well set up and renovated interior, rustic tavern feel that's elevated so great for just coming in for a few drinks or even taking a date out for an evening meal. Sat at the bar and the service was fast and super friendly. Very pleasant all around. Ordered a draft stout which was poured well, the fish and chips for dinner which was tasty, but for me the Cast Iron Olives starter were something different and fantastic. It's a blend of olives, banana peppers and salami seared in a skillet and topped with feta cheese and balsamic reduction, served with toasted rye bread. If you like salty tangy vinegar apps give it a try! Will be back! read more

Overall a great dining experience. Restaurant was clean, modern and comfortable. Service was very friendly. Menu was okay, not a good variety of offerings but we did all find something we were pleased with. Fish and chips was excellent. The sidewinder fries were delish!! The rigatoni tarragon was yummy with perfectly al dente pasta. The Jack white pizza was really good, but heavy. It needed something to cut the heaviness, like tomatoes. I squeezed on some fresh lemon juice, which made it much better. The haddock tacos and poke bowl was also great! Only complaint was the cocktail I ordered wouldn't have surprised me if it was virgin, not okay for such a high priced drink. read more

This place had some really great features, but I want to give as honest a review as possible so hopefully the owner reads and makes a few adjustments cause I seriously believe this place can be a 5 star restaurant. The cooks need to cut their salty dishes with something. I understand that we ordered an olive appetizer which is in and of itself an already salty food. But to add soppressata, feta and more salt it was almost inedible and I absolutely crave salt. The fish and chips batter was inconsistent with their salt applications with some extremely salty pieces and some lacking. The lobster roll I had was amazing; perfectly seasoned, just should come with a slice of lemon. I really wanted to give 4 stars so maybe it's a 3 1/2 for me because their desserts were amazing as well. For what it's worth my grandma could not stop raving and I understand why. My husband and I came here while we were on vacation and had a great experience! The restaurant is a cool spot to hang out with great decor. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful when it came to food allergies. We greatly enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer, the drinks, pizza, and the braised short rib yai yai. TLDR/ great food, service, and ambience in Rumford Maine Driving from Peaks-Kenny State Park in Maine out to Mount Washington in New Hampshire we stopped at the Brick and Stone Tavern for lunch. Was super pleased by just how great this little restaurant was. Firstly, atmosphere, it's an old old historic building, when you get inside, there's a beautiful long bar, lots of large tables for larger groups and then several two and four top tables available for smaller groups , all wood and dim and very rustic and outdoorsy. Just what you would expect in in the area that we're in. Service was super prompt. We were there on a Friday about 1 o'clock for lunch. It wasn't really busy, but there were several tables of people and the bar was almost full with people having lunch. We grabbed a seat and very quickly our server came to get a drink order and was back in a flash to take our food order. My husband ordered the fish and chips. I ordered the lobster roll special, which was lobster meat with tarragon mayonnaise and butter. not one of the mayonnaise types that you get in some areas but it also wasn't a warm lobster roll like I'm used to. It was chilled meat, but the roll was warm and the butter was warm. Food came out really fast. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes to have our our dishes delivered . Both came with fries big thick cut spiral fries. I think they call them sidewinders. We totally expected to have to ask for a to go box because it was such a generous portion, but the food was so tasty that all that we had left were some fries. The fish fry was a nice size piece of haddock lightly breaded not overly goopy breaded like you get at some places, not greasy at all The lobster roll had quite a bit of lobster with tarragon mayonnaise on the roll and drizzle butter that was $33 which I think is a reasonable price for lobster roll. The fish fry was $22 again not unreasonable price these days. With two sodas and tip, our lunch came to $79 which I guess all things considered, $79 for lunch might be a lot for folks but again if you're on vacation it's nice to splurge. and let's face it, prices are high everywhere right now! On our way out, we ran into a fellow New Jerseyan who's been up here for a month and he said this was his third time coming to the restaurant on their trip. read more

So disappointed. The ambiance was great. We had great expectations. This was our first (and last) visit there. First off, the bartender really messed up on my wife's Cosmo. Had a funny pine needle taste. This was not a problem until she copped a real attitude when we returned. Now mind you the Cosmo is my wife's drink of choice for years and this one didn't come close. The calamari app was plentiful with tentacles which we like. Too bad they had no flavor except the oily and heavy batter. The chicken tender app was so overcooked. Totally dried out. And finally, the whole belly fried clam plate looked wonderful until the first taste. Have no idea what batter and coating were used but it heavily detracted from the clam taste. Clams almost tasteless. The bartender presented our check without the drinks added. I know she was relieved when I pointed this out. I was sure we weren't comped. Didn't have the heart to stiff her for part of the bill which she probably would have had to pay. Overheard say she was a college student. Anyway. Too bad. read more

We went last Sunday early afternoon. I had a great Bloody Mary and Mark had Bacardi and Coke. The bartender was awesome!!! We got 2 apps : Fried Mushrooms and Fried Cauliflower. Mark loved the Cauliflower I only like it (cauliflower in general) but it was nicely battered and had a great dipping sauce. The fried mushrooms were excellent with the dill cream dipping sauce....the only thing I would do next time is ask for no finishing salt on the mushrooms they had plenty of seasoning and it was a tad bit salty with the finishing salt. I ate it all so, it's not a complaint just a personal preference. We will be back for sure cannot wait to try the pizza !!! read more

I'm not even sure where to start. Worst experience we have had eating out in years. We walked in with 2 small kids, they sit us not even a foot from the stage but say oh they aren't starting for an hour and a half. Well it was an hour early. My baby was over stimulated between the loud patrons and the loud music. I ended up having to go out to car with my baby. Both kids got chicken tenders, neither would eat them because they were so dark, and gross. It looked to me like fry oil not changed in a long time. Coleslaw tasted like nothing so it was a good palette cleanser I guess. Brought us our food, 0 napkins or utensils. We didn't get those until the end of meal when we flagged down a waitress finally. Then we paid nearly 100 dollars but left hungry and annoyed. Oh and none of the food was on plates or even in a basket but rather weird metal pans with paper. read more

First off the place is inviting and has a great look inside and out. I was welcomed by Amanda the bartender very friendly and warmly. The beer and drink menu was very good and inviting. HORRIBLE NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT, Food was absolutely horrible I was supposed to order fish tacos they didn't even have fish it was just coming off the truck so they said they couldn't cook it substituted chicken they put chicken with that nasty red sauerkraut stuff it was absolutely horrible those are the worst tacos I've ever eaten you can't even find decent Mexican food in the whole state of Maine somebody needs to teach these people how to make Mexican food here they don't get it my partner's hamburger was absolutely horrible they didn't even put anything on it it was nasty the side wires were burnt by the way the chicken inside my tacos were completely burnt and black charge me $16 for those they were supposed to be fish tacos they had no lettuce no tomato no cheese no onion nothing no salsa they were absolutely horrible Marks Burger was terrible too flavorless we paid $53 for two crappy meals that were absolutely horrible we could have went to a much better restaurant for that now the things going good for this restaurant it's a nice atmosphere it's really nice remodeled western style they need to completely overhaul the food the menu and get different types of variety of food and they need to cook it better any of the lower the prices I even read reviews for The Other location your prices are way too stinking High there's not Millionaires and Romford Maine lower those prices they're way too high for what you get they need an overhaul like I said of the food the menu it'll be a much better place to eat the restaurant itself is very nice it's really nicely remodeled in Western looking they just need better food there and a better menu of variety but what we had was absolutely horrible it's turned us off so much we don't want to go back that was our anniversary it was pretty much ruined by the food there let alone the high cost of that nasty food heck we could have went to the variety store and got better hamburgers improvement improvement improvement don't want to see you go out of business just need to overhaul your food and your menu do a better job on the food the staff was okay read more

Upon visiting Brick and Stone last Friday we were immediately greeted with a server/hostess who smiled and welcomed us.. The chicken wings were delish as was my Panini Reuben and my husbands pizza.. the servers continued to check on us thru our meal and made sure we had all the sauces we needed for our leftovers..Pub was well decorated and clean! kudos to all! Trust me when I tell you this place is overpriced! I don't say this because I'm poor and anything as expensive, I eat at excellent restaurants but I do expect to be served good food in adequate portions wherever I am. Their liquor prices are high, however most bars/pubs are. But the dining experience here is out of control! When you pay $12 extra for a salad and have them put steak tips on you expect to receive more than three steak tips. Three, ... For $12! Ridiculous! read more

Ordered a pizza asked for thin crust so I go pick it up and manager says to me we can't make a thin crust pizza anymore. I'm like what? Not to mention they charge almost 19.00 for one topping and it's the size of medium and they call it a large. My 6 year old can make a much better pizza. Won't be going back there.
