Our first visit to OKC and a local family member recommended Bricktown BBQ for lunch. And, WOW what an incredible experience. The restaurant's decor fit the town and history of OKC. It was definitely a true BBQ environment. The smell of the long cooked meats and BBQ beans filled the room and made it hard to choose. Thankfully the menu offered many options. This was the best and juiciest and flavorful meat we have ever had. The entire staff and management were very friendly and professional. Let me give a bit of a preface. I attempted to call the day before but could not get anyone to answer. But there was a messaging link to contact them. I used it and got a call about 15 minutes later. I requested a reservation for 40 at 7:00PM the following day and they accepted the request. This is a tale of two parts. Let's start with the not so good part. They ran out of baked potatoes which there were many people that ordered them and they were not notified until other started getting their food. The menu had corn fritters as an option but when they came out they were closer to equites and no breading to be found. We were told that the menu had not been updated but we were also not told upon ordering. The worst part was a male employee there came into the women's restroom unannounced to replace the paper towels while one of our team moms was using the restroom, she was a bit disturbed. This is not good. Now onto the good stuff. The location is right on the waterway in Bricktown. Our waitress took on the group of 40 people by herself. She kept the separate tickets separated even with the shuffling of the group. The food most of the meats were great including brisket and ribs. Some seemed did see one of our dinner plates that had the meat mounded but upon closer look, it was mostly fat. Average BBQ with below average sides and minimal service. I am among many who were sad when Earl's BBQ left this spot in Bricktown near Harkin's Theater. Although Earl's is not my favorite BBQ in OKC, it was the only BBQ option in Bricktown. Bricktown is supposed to be a place that shows some of OKC's food scene to tourists, and it doesn't make sense to me that you could do the OKC food scene justice without at least one BBQ joint. I am sad that Bricktown BBQ is showing the outside world what Oklahoma BBQ is all about because the food quality and service are on the border between average and below average. First, the food. The best part of my meal was the pork ribs. This was the only item that I tasted that had any stamp of originality on it. It was clear to me that their spice rub is their own recipe. I don't remember tasting anything like it in the OKC metro area. They are also doing something with the smoke that gives you two distinct tastes as you eat these ribs. The first comes from the spice rub, while the second comes from the smoke. If I come back, I would like to see if that is consistent through the other meats on the menu. All my sides were disappointing. The potato salad had a gummy, pudding-like texture. The coleslaw was too sweet and the cabbage was chopped much finer than I like it. The Texas toast was toasted lightly, not buttered, and only toasted on one side. I added some green salsa from our table's order of nachos to spice up the potato salad and the coleslaw since they were too sweet for my palate. My daughters ordered cheese pizza off the kids' menu. One of them took a bite and reported that it was sweet. My wife tried it and discovered that the pizza included BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce below the cheese. The menu description for this item does not say that it includes BBQ sauce. In my opinion, it would help if they included this detail so that parents can help their children decide which items they will actually eat. I tried a few of the fries served with my daughters' cheese pizzas. They were battered fries that are battered in this odd sweet batter that I have tasted at other restaurants that serve battered fries. I don't know which food supplier they are using (e.g. Ben E. Keith), but I wish the food supplier would stop selling this item because this kind of sweetness does not belong on french fries. My wife reported that her catfish strips were good, but her okra was not seasoned at all. She was also served a lemon lime soda when she originally ordered a lemonade. Our server came around to take our order, bring our appetizers, and bring our entrees. There were no check-ins after that, despite the dining room being half full for our entire visit. On top of all this, we paid close to $100 for our party of 3 adults and 2 children. I understand that you pay extra when you eat in Bricktown, but this still seems excessive. I won't rule out coming back, but they are going to have to do better on their sides and their level of service. read more

I'm not sure if today was a grand opening or what type of event was happening but it was good cool unexpected Monday vibe. I usually like a good atmosphere to enjoy food and listen to good music. I wouldn't normally consider salmon a bbq option but my review is based on what I ordered. I wasn't very impressed with the salmon at all, it was overcooked and dry. The sides were pretty mediocre. They did offer free appetizers during my visit so I tried a fried brisket taco. They weren't bad but they were definitely over fried. I wish I tried the bbq since this is a bbq restaurant. I love bbq and had not tried Oklahoma's version. Ordered the two meat meal. Brisket and ribs. The brisket was ONE thin slice. Dried out and tough. The ribs were small but at least they gave me 3. $24 for basically an appetizer. Ordered a salad also that was never served. The service was subpar. No menu until they brought us drinks followed by immediately asking what we wanted to order. Overpriced bad tasting bbq with poor service. I visited Bricktown BBQ in downtown Oklahoma City and unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations--especially for the price. We ordered a three-meat platter (sausage, brisket, and ribs). The ribs came out meatless and burnt, the sausage tasted more boiled than grilled, and the brisket was dry with only three very thin slices. For a BBQ spot, that was really disappointing. The sides didn't make up for it either. The portion sizes were confusing--the sides on the platter were barely enough for one person, while the potato salad we ordered separately was actually more shareable. The baked beans tasted like canned beans (which isn't necessarily bad, but not what you expect at a BBQ restaurant), and the fried okra was extremely oily. There were also some basic service and atmosphere issues. They didn't have lids for drinks, and with a toddler at the table, that made things unnecessarily messy--especially since the drinks were filled all the way to the top. The noise level was overwhelming because a game was blasting loudly over the speakers to the point where you couldn't even hold a conversation. It only got turned down after they sat an older couple near the back and the waiter couldn't even hear to take their order. At one point, staff flipped a table completely on its side right next to us while we were seated, which felt odd and disruptive. We also asked about beer options, but the selection wasn't visible and the staff couldn't clearly explain what was available. For about $80$ plus tip. the overall experience just didn't match the quality or service we expected. read more

okay brisket is DELICIOUS ! for that I give 3 stars. and the manager gave us our appetizer for free after I said something because 9$ for 3 jalapeño poppers is ridiculous ! And the 12$ baked potato that is 9$ and 12$ if you add protein came out to 16$ because I added brisket. I was not made aware it was going to be an additional 4$. I would not of gotten a 16$ potato. Really enjoyed the meal. Ribs and brisket. Sides green beans, fries and they gave me a sample of corn fritters. Ribs were fall off the bone. Brisket tender. Nice smoke ring and bark. I wanted potato salad but they were out. One of the folks I was with wanted salmon but they were out. The corn fritters were yummy but it was a lot of money for not that much food. Took 2 coworkers to newly opened Bricktown BBQ, I was glad to hear that after Earl's closed another BBQ restaurant took its place. We arrived just after 11:00AM. We were having a craving for ribs, unfortunately our server told us the ribs were not ready, and it would be another hour or so until they were. Also, we were told later that one of our sides we selected were not available. We ended up selecting a different meat and side. The brisket was a bit overdone, and the sides were very small in portions. With a drink and tip the bill per person was just under $30, which if you are in corporate America many companies put a $25 lunch limit. I get prices for meat have gone up, but the value vs quality did not meet expectations. I want this restaurant to succeed as there are not many BBQ choices in downtown OKC, please do better. read more
