Hranush altered my wedding gown for my wedding this past May and I cannot recommend her enough! My dress was no easy feat - it was lacy with an incredible amount of detail, and in order to shorten the dress, Hranush had to remove all the detail from the lace first and then re-add all the detail back onto the lace after shortening. She must have the steadiest hand of all time and patience like no other because she executed everything PERFECTLY. I also really appreciated her honesty with me throughout the entire process. When I first tried on the dress for her, she immediately noticed that the ballroom-style skirt was a bit large for my petite frame, so she suggested that we remove a few layers of the petticoat under the skirt. She cut the hem and redid the beadwork so it looked like it was made that length! Shortened straps and took in the waist. I am so so glad I found Hranush for my wedding dress alterations. Not only is she so lovely to be around, she is probably the most talented seamstress I have come across, even after 15 years of living in big cities with lots of options. I trusted her and enjoyed visiting her shop. She made adjustments to my dress so it would hold up better throughout the night, as there was a lot of sheer, thin fabric. She also made adjustments I asked for to the lace at the shoulders - bringing it up a little higher so it sits on my shoulder instead of arm. Hranush has been lovely to work with. She is doing my bridal dress alterations. I had gone to her pre pandemic and she was able to quote me for the work that needed to be done without having to make an official appointment. Located right across from Vows in Watertown, she gets very busy during wedding season. I've moved my wedding a couple times now (thanks covid) but she has been accommodating each step of the way. She also follows covid precautions and has one party in the shop at a time. If you come early for your appointment, you may have to wait outside if someone is there before you. I recently went for my second fitting and the work she had done made my dress more beautiful. I'll have to update the final result but so far so good! I have recommended her to my coworkers who are getting married in the fall. read more

I cannot recommend Hranush highly enough! She was absolutely wonderful to work with! My dress is covered in lace and appliqué from top to bottom. Hranush took the time to remove all of the applique along the bottom by hand, cut the hem to the perfect length, and sewed all of the appliqué back on by hand. It must have taken forever. She did the same thing when she took the sides in to fit my body perfectly. The dress looks and feels like it was made just for me! She did an incredible job on the bustle too. You can't see the buttons when the train is down, and she used extra lace to reinforce the buttons and the button loops so that they wouldn't rip. Best decision I could have made. I can truly say that Hranush is a miracle worker. When my dress was delivered to me it was 2 sizes too big and I was swimming in it. She altered it so perfectly I barely had to adjust it all night. She was extremely knowledgeable in her craft and explained everything she needed to do to make it fit just right throughout the entire process. I was very nervous about the top part of my dress busting open and she put clasps in and not even one button came off throughout the entire day. If I could give Hranush a million stars, I would. She pulled off a MIRACLE with my dress. To start off, I bought an Amalia Carrara/Eve of Milady dress off the rack in NYC and although it was beautiful, it was a disaster. Problems included that it was TOO small around the torso, yet TOO long in both the bodice and skirt (it was dropped waist as well so my torso looked so long and my legs looked like they only made up 1/3 of my height), the wedding buttons were tattered, the straps were torn up, there was a red/brown stain on the skirt, there was too much crinoline and tulle yet no volume in the skirt, and she still had to add cups and bustles. Now I had to move to the Boston area at the beginning of April so I could not find an alterations person before this meaning, she only had 2 months (my wedding was the first week of June) to fix everything. As I walked in and told her my problem with my dress as well as the delay in finding an alterations person, it was clear that it was going to be a big job (Hranush, sorry again!). But she took on the challenge! We set up 3 more appointments and she gave me a relative quote for the price of the job which was reasonable considering how work it involved. To other brides who are looking at Hranush or others, please understand that all dresses are different so asking for a quote out front, which may change, will just cause you heartache you don't need. Mine was COVERED in appliques and beading so I knew it would be a lot more costly since she had to remove everything, do whatever job needed to be done in that section, and then replace it back on the dress. As I continued to go see her, I let my inner control freak subside because (and this is super important!), she is a perfectionist WITH amazing ideas. I knew she took pride in the work she put into my dress no matter how hard of a project it was. For example, I would have an idea, she would outright give me a better idea based on what she knew I wanted, and I trusted her idea and execution 100% - and those are the kind of people I want touching my dress, people I can count on! In response to the dress problems I listed above, she seamlessly added fabric to fit around me (you cannot even tell where her additions were as they were so aesthetically pleasing), she brought the torso up to my waist and made my body/legs much more proportional looking, she put on new wedding buttons, hunted down MATCHING beads for the strap, covered up the stain with appliques from the skirt which was shortened, removed the crinoline and tulle and hemmed my hoop skirt that I purchased separately to add volume, and of course, added cups and bustles. It was a big ask, and she delivered! Do not hesitate to contact her and do not be afraid to relinquish control over your dress as she knows what she is doing. Omg this woman is a life saver! I came to Hranush with a dress that I had bought from a bridal boutique, but was a sample dress and not in perfect condition. It seemed fine when purchased, but quickly realized the delicate illusion straps were VERY distorted and not sitting right at all, as well as some missing beading. Hranush is so incredibly talented and came up with a very creative solution. She is very honest and upfront with the level of effort and cost of alterations. I was completely stressed out and running late for my appointment. Hranush fit me in (despite being about 30 min late for my appointment!) during her lunch hour. She had to completely take apart the top of my dress and remake it. I was a little nervous about this, but when I went to pick up the dress yesterday it fit beautifully! It was a little pricey, $135.00! However I would rather pay extra and be sure it was quality work, then take my chances with a cheaper seamstress. Hranush is amazing!! I bought a beautiful but very complicated wedding dress with a lot of layers of very delicate fabric. I was so worried about getting it tailored because I needed it taken in a full size as well as hemmed. I needed a belt sewn on, and the dress also needed two bustles because of all the fabric. And to top it off, I waited too long to book a tailor (less than 2 months before my wedding) and when I started calling places, nobody had any openings. But then I found Hranush and everything was easy. She scheduled me immediately and worked around my hectic work schedule, even booking one of the fittings on a day she doesn't even usually have the shop open. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. She is efficient, so friendly and nice, and so talented. My dress was completely, completely perfect. I couldn't believe it. Hranush is talented, creative, and honest. I wasn't a fan of the small sleeves my gown came with, both in look and the way they sat on my shoulders. I had asked her to take them away or make new ones, but she ended up removing unnecessary pieces and switching the sleeves so they looked and sat much more naturally. That was a really clever fix, and turned a distracting feature of my dress into something effortless and pretty. She was also up-front on how much time/effort it would take to hem my dress, so let me know the exact heel height I could buy to let the dress hang well and not have to hem it. Many people commented on how my dress "fit like a glove" when she was done taking it in. She also chose a bustling style that complimented the dress, flowed so well as I walked and had my first dance, and looked amazing in pictures. The price was probably more than I had wanted to pay going in, but I also didn't give myself time to shop around, and I'm still thrilled with the results and have no regrets there.
