We began shopping for my daughter's wedding dress on November 9, 2024 for her upcoming wedding April 26, 2025. We went to Bridal Place as we had found prom dresses there in the past. J showed Hatie her Pinterest board with black and white (two-tone) dresses giving her an idea of what she was looking for. Hatie showed us a beautiful black dress and advised they could customize it to J's specifications making it everything she wanted -- off-the shoulder rather than spaghetti straps, add some white layers and additional alterations. We purchased the dress and paid for the initial customized alterations. The first fitting after alterations, J couldn't step into the dress as it had been sewn together leaving no opening. This was corrected while we were there, but the dress was not yet as expected. Hatie assured us they could still fulfill the vision. We paid a second alterations invoice. We traveled to Bridal Place for several fittings and finally on April 12, 2025 (two weeks before the wedding), we took the dress as it was at the time and had the complete vision fulfilled in short time with someone else. The result was everything J wanted and the complete vision! Because Hatie was very helpful and I was trusting her expertise and advice, I purchased the MOB dress from a catalog, as did 2 others - all requiring alterations. The alterations to my dress were so poorly done I took it to another alterations person who advised the dress was beyond repair (see photos attached) and purchased a second dress one week before my daughter's wedding which also required alterations. One of the other dresses ended up in the same situation, was taken elsewhere for repair and followed suit with unfixable alterations and purchase of another dress on Tuesday before the Saturday wedding and alterations completed 2 days before the wedding. There was so much unnecessary stress involved in the dress debacle. During the initial visit in November, we saw a sign advertising a sale on tuxedoes. My daughter took the groom, her father and future father-in-law for fittings and measurements on December 21, 2024. They went to pick up the tuxes on March 8, 2025 and encountered more disaster. There was no sign indicating the available-for-purchase tuxes were previously used rentals (see attached pic from BP's facebook page). Some of the pieces were well worn, stained, and mismatched. In spite of having been "measured and fitted," and paying for the "tux orders" upfront, 2 men were given XL shirts, requiring the purchase of additional shirts in the appropriate sizes elsewhere. I discussed the tux incident with Hatie and suggested BP should have a sign indicating the tuxes available for order/purchase were previously used, worn rentals. I was well aware the tuxes were being offered at a very inexpensive rate, but it never occurred to us we were "ordering/purchasing" used garments. We made unnecessary visits to BP due to a lack of communication between the small staff making it impossible to pick up items at appointments although the items were at BP (example, being at BP on Saturday and making a trip back on Monday from Charlotte to pick up the groom's replacement vest and tie because the staff person was not there on Saturday and no one knew if they had arrived.) I placed a call when they opened at 11 am Monday and was advised yes the pieces were in and actually were on Saturday. This situation caused unnecessary concern for the bride over the weekend and until we had the pieces in hand to know the condition of the items. We felt really good about BP the day of purchase of the wedding dress. Hatie had the vision but after months of alterations going wrong, dresses messed up to the point they couldn't be repaired, the tux fiasco and not being able to rely on them to know where our already paid for items were, this was an unpleasant and extremely stressful experience. You can find a beautiful dress among their selection, but I would refrain from allowing them to do anything more than minor alterations. read more

Things started out very well. I found a wedding dress off the rack and she assured me they could customize the dress exactly as I wanted. After months of alterations (paying way more than the dress cost) and things never being right, I finally left with my dress two weeks before the wedding and had to find someone else to fix it. Thankfully, she is able to salvage it. However, my mom wasn't so lucky. Her dress ended up not being salvageable and she had to purchase a 2nd dress just one week before the wedding. Another person in our party had to take her dress somewhere else to be fixed as well and I haven't heard how that turned out yet (wedding is next weekend). They advertised tuxes for sell at a very discounted price, but only limited quantities available. The guys had to go in and be fitted, so the tuxes could be ordered and it took months for them to come in. When they finally arrived, it turned out they were selling old rental tuxes and were just piecing random items together. My future father in law was given brown pants for a black tux and the groom's vest and tie didn't match. Ultimately, they did correct both of these, but I wouldn't have ordered tuxes here had they been honest about what was going on to begin with. Unfortunately, because of how long it took them to come in, which I still don't understand because they were used and not ordered just for them, it was too late to go somewhere else. While everyone was very nice, half the staff has no knowledge of formal wear and the alterations were absolutely awful. Also, there were multiple times they couldn't find things causing us to have to drive back at a later date. I would stay away from this place. It' terrible spending so much money for such a special day and things turning out so awful!! read more

DO NOT allow this place to touch your wedding dress. I am not familiar with the alterations in the area and this place was recommended to me by a close friend who got her wedding dress altered here. I made an appointment and the owner ensured she was there for the consultation. The alterations I needed were not anything out of the ordinary, add bustle, take up hem, add bra cups, tack on belt. I paid before I left and the cost was reasonable. When I picked up the dress, I tried it on and to my horror, the belt was tacked on in a swag when we specifically spoke about tacking it straight across, the bustle was ridiculous, the bra cups were sticking out of the dress, and the material on the front straps were all bunchy all of a sudden. The owner was trying to jimmy rig it so that the material would lay flat and as I was getting more and more upset she said to me "I'm not a miracle worker!" WTF. I ended up taking my dress to the boutique where I bought it from to have their seamstress help. To my surprise and disappointment, there was even more wrong with the dress than I thought. The straps were put together so badly, the back zipper was not put back on properly, the bustle was wrong and the list goes on. Insert really really really really upset bride. Because of how BAD the quality of work was, there wasn't much she could do to fix it. I demanded a refund from this horrible place because she RUINED my wedding dress and I had wasted time and energy going down there, having to bring it to another place, etc. She gave me a partial refund and was very difficult to get it from. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make the same mistake I did. Pick elsewhere to get your wedding dress altered. You get what you pay for. read more

I had a really great experience here picking out a veil. They had a ton of options and the women there helped me look at lots of different variations. When I went shopping at other major chain bridal salons, I found all the veils (samples and non samples) to be really beaten up and poor quality. The veils here were obviously treated with much greater care, as were the other hair pieces. Also my friend got her dress and hair piece here and she's really happy with both. The wedding dresses here are sold off the rack and they're organized by size which is weird but also kinda awesome. Makes life easier i suppose. read more

DO NOT RENT TUXES FROM HERE UNLESS YOU WANT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!! I had my dress altered here and it turned out well, so I thought the tux rental would be good as well. I was WRONG. The tuxedos weren't available until a few days before the wedding. When my now husband tried it on, it looked like he ordered it when he was 100lbs heavier!! I was in shock. One of the ladies was acting like it was great and looked perfect. HOW do you measure someone as a 32 pants and give them a 39 pants?!!!!! Who are you trying to fool?! The jacket must have been at least a 50 but he wears a 40. Some of the groomsmen had the SAME EXACT ISSUES. It wasn't even fixed for some of them, and they refused to give us our money back after all the stress and horror we were put through. One of the groomsmans jackets was to his KNEES. Some of The other groomsmen had jackets that were way to big. They had to wear them in the wedding anyways and the jackets looked so bad in pictures because of how large they were. WARNING! This place should no longer be in business! They overcharge and make you pay prior to trap you with their "no refund policy" when they botch your alterations. They destroyed my dress for a wedding. The show stopper of the dress was the slits and they closed up the slits, without my permission and after knowing that was my favorite part of the dress and why I bought it. It was not worth the stress and grief. I had to buy a bridesmaid gown last minute, I paid for rush delivery, the dress still arrived 3weeks later than it was supposed to. They rushed my alterations and COMPLETELY messed them up. I paid over a $100 for them to take in the bodice and they took in the dress all the way down to the hips so that it no longer even fit. I had to hire another seamstress to undo what they had done and rush to get the work completed because the wedding was in 3 days, out of state.The new seamstress couldn't believe how poorly done the alterations were and the extent at which they changed the dresses original design. They didn't even finish seaming in some areas. No, I did not go back and have them redo the dress because when I noticed some issues in the shop it was blown off and I was told I would have to pay them more to add material to the dress. Apparently I grew several inches wider in 3 days from their point of view. Honestly, I did not trust them to give me quality work and I had enough of them at that point. My new seamstress said it was a simple correction to let out the skirt and there was no reason why they would have had to add more material. Unfortunately, she did not have the time to improve the alterations on the bodice but those were not as bad. She did have to adjust the straps however to ensure it fit better. Save yourself the stress and disappointment and go to a chain or another company all together. This place may know how to sell dresses but they don't know how to delivery a quality product. read more

Bridal Place & Alterations Please take this info for what it's, I recently had a wedding on October 5th 2019. I took my wedding dress to have it alter. The employee that did the alterations did an amazing job. To be clear the employees of Miss Hattie the OWNER is true professionals. I picked up my dress up on the Oct 4th, in the process of picking up the dress I purchased an ivory beaded head band for $40.00. I had already paid close to $300 for the dress. Yes I did check for returns policy and there were signs that said NO REFUNDS. The day of the wedding I was putting the headband in my hair the beads literally rolling off in my hand. I had to comb my hair to hide the bare wire. When the event was over I went the Bridal Place speak to Miss Hattie she wasn't available, I gave my name and telephone number to the staff as well as showing a picture while I was wearing it. I never got a call. I called a couple days later she was there I told her about the problem and said to her that she needs to make this right. I told her I will come by the next day after work we agreed. I went after work she wasn't there and had instructed her staff to give me a $20.00 credit. She knew she wasn't going to give me back my money. I will say this I 've been in retail along time Miss Hattie you wronged me and I'm sure you have wronged many others. If you could give less than 1 star I would. Took in a bridesmaid dress for alterations. The ladies who helped out with the fitting were very kind. We Paid $85 for alterations. The first time I went in to pick up the dress it was about 3 inches small throughout the chest. So we left the dress with them for another week in order for them to correct the issue. When we returned a week later the dress fit throughout the chest but upon further observation the hem of the dress was very un even And way too short. Of course my daughter wore the same flat sandals during the fitting that she wore at the re fitting. Not much you can do with a dress that is tooooooo short and the wedding is next weekend. I spoke with the owner who offered no remedying situation. Very poor customer service And unprofessional alteration. I do not recommend!!!!!!! read more

I purchased and had my wedding dress altered here and it turned out PERFECT!!!! I only dealt with the owner Haiti, she very fun, straightforward and knows how to alter a dress!!! She made my dress fit like a glove and exactly how I wanted it to fit!!! The shop is very historic and the things in it are somewhat out dated. The dress prices are very reasonable but the alterations are expensive, cheaper than other places but still expensive. I will say it was all worth it at the end!! I had one of her workers fit a bridesmaid of mine and she too much in but was able to fix it. I do recommend this place but only let Haiti do your fittings!!!! read more
