I called ahead for a Bacon, egg and cheese and unfortunately the gentleman heard steak, egg and cheese. I wanted a simple NY style BEC. Apparently in NJ its impossible to to scramble eggs and put yellow american with a little bacon on a roll. Its not thisplaces fault but it kind of is because my egg was not scrambled. Even after asking for it. I didnt ask for home fries but they came and that explains why I paid $13 for my breakfast. Yikes! read more

I can't speak for inside dining service but if you are considering doing takeout, DON'T! I ordered the green machine (the eggs Benedict) the wait was extremely longer than i was originally informed. Once I received my meal, after leaving the restaurant and then having to come back inside to ask... i was told they don't have take out utensils... I feel as though that should've been said as I was ordering. When I received my meal, it looks as if everything was just thrown in there. My egg weren't cooked and were extremely watery. It also was not on top of the bread (along with almost everything else) so I had to try and pick it up with my hands just so that I can try to eat it together (with no utensil). The food was also very bland. Overall a complete waste of money. read more

Food was A-, however this was my second visit here and enjoyed the meal until my brother pulled out a 4 inch skewer out of his quesadilla. We laughed it off until the busboy began mopping the floor with a very strong pinesol right next to us where it got to the point when all we could taste was pinesol, so we packed up our food and brought it home to finish. When I mentioned these issues to the manager she got rude with us and said "well it wasn't my idea", and then she yanked the receipt out from below my pen while I was writing my tip in, so unfortunately the waiter didn't get her tip. Every now and then you get surprised when you stop at a diner and get beyond pleasantly surprised! This was one of those times! Their crabcakes are highly but perfectly seasoned, whether fried or pan seared, delicious! Has real and plenty of crabmeat in them! Mashed potatoes on point, Coleslaw divine, which I'm fussy about coleslaw, but oh man the Lima Bean soup is authentic and exactly what you expect for that soup, not little dinner Lima beans but the bigger creamy delicious ones in a perfectly balanced tomatoey broth, this place knows what they're doing abd I highly recommend it. I really eating at this diner. I went for Breakfast and was immediately greeted by the host. The tables were clean, and the dinet had an overall clean appearance. This is a hot spot for Breakfast so it may be a little "chatty", but it's fine. They serve large portions and the prices are about the same as most diners in the area. The food was served hot and very good. Our waiter was very nice and proficient. I will definitely return to try their Chicken Pot Pie. read more

My family and I stopped in yesterday for a quick meal while in the area. It was our first time visiting. The server quickly greeted us and took our drink order. I ordered the mini meal meatloaf with Brussel sprouts and a salad with 1000 island dressing. The meatloaf was definitely a little overdone and on the dryer side but the gravy helped. The Brussel sprouts were super soft. My dad got the chicken stir-fry and loved it. It was a huge portion and he took most of it home. Although it came over rice, he was still given two sides. My mother had a cheeseburger and fries and liked everything. The server was friendly but had to be asked for refills and did not clear dirty plates off the table even though they were sitting at the edge when food was delivered. She was also unable to clearly answer questions such as what soup they had today or what vegetables were available. The meals came with complimentary rolls and butter. The meal wasn't bad but unfortunately I probably won't be in that area again to return and give other meals a try. read more

I have driven by the Bridgeton Family Diner once before on my way to the Golden Pigeon. I remembered it was directly in the middle of a Uhaul center. Atmosphere: We arrived around lunchtime. The outside is clean and modern. The front has an overhead that almost leads me to believe it was once something else. The inside is modern and clean. It was around the holidays, and they were festive and decorated. We sat in a booth towards the back. Coffee: It was brewed hot and fresh, and we both had plenty of refills. Food: The Bridgeton Family Diner has plenty of options including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wasn't that hungry when we arrived, so I decided to order a salad. I haven't ordered a diner salad in a few months but went with a Greek salad with chicken. It was one of the most massive salads I've had at a diner ever. It had plenty of toppings including grape leaves, olives, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I believe it was supposed to come with anchovies with they might have forgotten.  Instead of pita bread, it came with garlic which was good. In all, it was one of the better diner salads I've had. Service: The waitress was friendly, and the food came out fast. I have no complaints. Overall Thoughts/Summary: I liked the Bridgeton Family Diner, and it was a pleasant surprise down in Bridgeton. Food was delicious. The service was less than normal but could be because the owner is away. We with a friend that got there ahead of me she got her drink. I ordered mine then the waiter came back took our orders Had to ask offer 15 mins about my drink Food took forever to come we never got our salads until we asked for them to go since our meals came before he got our salads. BUT IT WASNT FAST He never asked if we needed anything else just brought the check. We said we get dessert with our specials. He gave a strange look. I have eaten here several times and this place was my husband go to restaurant never have we had such poor service. I will try them again since the food is ALWAYS GOOD. Very disappointed. I got the Pot Roast dinner special. It came with mashed potatoes, roast zucchini and a Greek salad. The salad was good. Everything else was cold: the gravy and mashed potatoes were tasteless. Zucchini was inedible. The meat was ok. Even when they reheated the plate nothing was hot enough. Service was excellent and the waitress put chocolate sauce and whipped cream on my (included) ice cream dessert. Will only get breakfast if I go here again. read more

Stopped by with some friends for some breakfast/lunch. I,ve been here once before and never wrote a review so I figured this time around would throw one up really quick. For starters its not a bad looking place, newer outside construction has made it much more eye appealing then it used to be a few years ago. The inside is a bit divey, its got a neat kinda old time diner feel but a bit run down for my taste. One of my friends ordered the 2 eggs with meat (awkward wording for a menu item) and wasn't very impressed with his meal. The complaints were "bland and boring." My other friend ordered the french toast, I tried that myself and wasn't impressed. Myself living life on the edge ordered lunch, I ordered the cheesesteak with fries. The cheesesteak was flavorless, boring, the cheese wasn't melted, all in all just terrible. Our waitress Kelly never returned to our table after our food was served and when she did come back it was with the check which was to early because we wanted to order dessert which never happened. Honestly the only good thing I can say about it is the fires were pretty good but besides that, stay away and go some wheres else. read more

I was pretty excited to see that they had my favorite breakfast on he menu, eggs benedict, but it was not that great. The hollandaise sauce was too thick and tasted off. Now I know people will say 'why are you expecting a diner to have good eggs benedict?' But plenty of diners have made it much better. read more

Excellent prices and plenty of food! Fish is fresh and prepared perfectly. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. We eat here at least a few times a week or more. Tuscany salad a favorite among other items. This diner is definitely a favorite. read more

We stopped here for a late breakfast Father's Day. We knew it was busy but an hour long wait? I ordered lunch hubby wanted breakfast. They brought bread that I don't eat, then my salad came 15 minutes later. I ordered a chicken broccoli dish, tasted pretty gritty with all of the dirt that was stuck in my molars. I'm certain it was dropped on the floor then cooked. I informed the waitress who apologized for the filth that was served to me and husband quickly finished his eggs so we could leave and find food elsewhere for me. No way was I ordering something else from such a disgusting diner. While I waited for him to finish she brought the check, and had the nerve to charge me $5 for the tiny little salad that I did eat which sent my blood pressure soaring. I took the check up to the counter and informed them that I wasn't paying a dime for any part of my meal, she removed it, never apologizing. He// would freeze over before I set foot in that DUMP again. Wait, the coffee, old and burnt, regular and decaf. Eat at your own risk, bad tasting food is one thing, food that contains dirt is a whole other issue. I Will be informing the local health department of my experience. read more

Was nearby with an hour and a half to pass. Had an omelette and the best grits i have had north of Mason- Dixon line. Prices Were comparable to every other diner but clean facilities and fast service , easy substitutions on menu items. Dont plan on coming back this way soon but will check out this diner if I ever do! read more

Nice atmosphere and food was excellent. Went with group of friends and everyone got their food exactly as ordered. It was Wednesday night and they were packed but servers gave time between salads and entree and we were not rushed. Took family over on. Sunday and we all got pot-pie. It,s almost like home-made. Most restaurants give you all you can eat potpie, Family Restaurant does not offer that. Only $9.99 so I'm sure a side order would not be that pricey. Owner Dermin is so pleasant and helpful.
