Where has this place been my whole life?! If you want a pick-me-up from an amazing coffee, to try a new tea, or be blown away by their local menu full of savory and sweet items, then look no further. The staff are so friendly and even with it being busy (it's the best in town), they are efficient and so polite. There is abundant seating indoors or out on the patio. Parking is on the side of the house or behind. If you have a pet (or kids) that you want to have hang out while you get food, there is plenty of room on the patio. I personally love the iced latte with raw milk and the steak sandwich (or salad!) for lunch while I study. There is good lighting wherever you sit to read or chat with friends and the restroom is handicap accessible and gender neutral. But SHHHHHH! Hands down my favorite coffee shop. Ever. The staff is incredible. Everyone there gets to know their regulars, even remembering many of their names and orders. Pretty average coffee spot. Went here because my brother always stops here! The atmosphere inside is really cute and I had a really good pastry plus the tiramisu I tried was also good. Their menu had a lot which made it a touch overwhelming especially since there wasn't a whole lot of room to look at it. But I did enjoy the vibe of the place and my coffee was good. I got a carmella latte - which I had to ask - it's just caramel , but I wasn't sure. There's a few things that were displayed differently on their menu. I want to come back in the summer because a lot of their cold drinks sounded good. The cashier was nice, the barista didn't seem super thrilled to be there. Although the drinks can be pricey, it's my favorite coffee spot. The customer service is consistently excellent. While I'm not certain if they remember my name, often they seem to recognize me and ask if I want my usual order. The ambiance is wonderful, and the coffee and food are fantastic. Whenever I have visitors, I enjoy bringing them here. It's without a doubt the best coffee place around. Unless you like Covid with your coffee I'd give this place a pass. The owner has posted a wordy notice on premise that is a bit confusing but basically says neither he nor his staff will wear masks (despite a PA dept. Of health order) and if you complain he will tell you that jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life that doesn't include wearing a mask. His excuse is God or freedom or loving everyone to death. Whatever. I reported him to the state agency responsible for food safety. So my brother and I were headed to the coffee house after school but didn't realize they now close at 3:00 pm. We walked in like normal and order two frozen Lattes. The young man in the cash register politely pointed out that they closed five minutes ago. We were confused because we didn't see the new time schedule on the door. He saw our confusion and offered to yet serve us our lattes. The young man even called it on the house! He had just finished counting all of the money from the cash register. My brother and I were in awe and disbelief. The man was so kind to us that day. Of course we left him a tip because you really don't see enough kindness in society anymore. Robert Burns, the Scottish Bard, wrote about Brig O' Doon ( Bridge over the River Doon) in one of his famous poems. His muse is alive and well in this coffee house of the same name. The old stone building on the Ottsville spur just off Rt. 611and in the shadow of the neighboring Ottsville Inn, has the cozy ambiance and country style Burns loved to write about. It is all wood, stone and glass. Counter up front and tables around the walls. We stopped in for lunch on the way to Bethlehem. We were met by Anthony, who greeted us warmly and gave us the lay of the land, menu wise. He recommended the bagels, soup and quiche, and of course, the java. In that vein, we went with a bowl of chicken corn chowder, broccoli quiche, and chicken salad sandwich on onion bagel. Mug of their house brew, too. The chowder was fantastic; thick, chunky, savory, steaming, with crisp bagel thins to balance textures and tastes. Loved it. The sandwich was loaded with large pieces of tender chicken and romaine that the bagel was not designed to contain, but it didn't make a difference. That's what fingers are for. The rounder was dense and grainy with plenty of baked onion flakes. It was very good, but was really meant for a thick smear of veggie cream cheese at breakfast. Next time. The quiche was solid, but a bit over processed for my taste. Good flavor, but the body was too homogenized. Sort of looked like broccoli cheesecake. Their coffee is roasted locally and had a nice balanced aroma and flavor. I should have asked for it to go and had a refill to take with. In nicer weather the stone front patio would be a nice place to hang out and watch The Doon flow by. read more

This is the cutest coffee shop I've ever seen! If it was closer to my home, I'd be a regular. The shop is well appointed with attractive furnishings and a well laid out design. Even the bathroom is nice and especially clean. Now on to the critical issue- the coffee. I had a mocha latte with half the chocolate syrup (my usual). It was excellent! The drink was perfectly crafted; temperature was just right, as was the ratio of milk to foam. The espresso had nutty undertones which gave a nice depth of flavor to the drink. My brother had the regular coffee and he enjoyed it very much. Besides coffee, they have a food menu with breakfast bites, sandwiches, soup, quiche, etc. The coffee shop is connected to Kimberton whole foods store and the refrigerated case features food items from Kimberton such as chicken pot pie (which looked delish!). Although going here is completely out of the way for me, I will definitely make the special trip now and then to come back. And next time I plan on having lunch ;) read more

Would give more than 5 stars if possible - they give you coffees to sample and emphasize there is no pressure to buy, they are just passionate about educating and sharing the joys of the other black gold. The food was superb and the service was exceptional, I came in frazzled as I'm an out of towner and had no idea what they could offer me as a vegan but they worked with me and recommended items that I enjoyed. Brenna and Patrick are super stars, I told them my dad is passionate about coffee and I showed them his coffee machines and they worked with me to get the best texture as they grounded the beans. A newly discovered gem. The staff are incredibly friendly and the coffee is tasty and pretty. The lavender lemonade is a must try. My most recent visit I had the oatmeal and woah, delicious. They have a ton of toppings to choose from and it was a nice thick consistency (not watery at all!). I've also had the parfait (choice of Greek or vanilla) and the presentation is beautiful and the the taste was awesome. I'll definitely be back to try more things off the menu. read more

Their coffee is phenomenal! Unfortunately, they only have one person making the coffee/lattes etc. The wait is always very, very long. Even if your second in line. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday at 9:15am. The line was out the door and almost in the parking lot. We left. The wait would have been over an hour at that point. This place is about halfway between my home and office and have always wanted to try it. This morning I was running way early (which never happens) so I veered off 611 and headed towards Brig O'doon on Durham - and how happy I am that I did. The coffee house is a beautiful stone house that is very grand indeed. I was greeted by a friendly young man behind the counter and I ordered a medium vanilla chai ($3.71 including tax). There are scones and muffins set out, a case of fresh made sandwiches and desserts, a rack of books and newspapers and several tables set up. There's also a table outside with an umbrella for warmer days. My vanilla chai (must have been a powder because there wasn't a sachet in my cup) was awesome and I wish I'd gotten a large because I'd still be sipping on it. Definitely worth taking the road less traveled for. I'd hang there on the regular, but it's half an hour away...and I still need to check out the local coffee houses in my town. read more

Brig O'Doon has been our favorite breakfast spot for years. However I am horrified by their complete disregard for their patrons' safety in light of the current pandemic. They are not requiring staff nor customers to wear masks and have no social distancing. As a frontline healthcare worker, I see first hand the effects of this virus on adults AND children. This establishment is putting our community at risk. A page length memo sits at the counter in response to concerns related to their non-compliance with the state's order. It speaks of "loving thy neighbor", I wished they loved and had concern for their neighbors enough to help keep them safe. Needless to say, we will be finding a new breakfast spot. read more
