Brigantine Poway is a nice place, came here for a work lunch and the atmosphere is welcoming for colleagues to have nice convos over food. The decor here kinda reminds me of cheesecake factory - somewhat fancy but also dated. We were sat at a very spacious table (3 in the party), our waiter was very nice and attentive and our service was overall great. I had an order of the famous fish tacos, the fish portion was very healthy and the beer batter was delicious. I was a little thrown off by the yellow cheddar cheese - reminds me of taco bell lol but it worked well and the hot sauce provided added more flavor. Our whole table got fish tacos, a colleague got hers cajun style and she said that she enjoyed the heat. Overall a nice ambience here, the dining room was full with little distancing (I know we're not under restrictions so still adjusting). Id like to come back outside the work setting and see what other seafood options there are to enjoy. read more

Great Happy Hour on Monday and nice ambience, especially for Poway. Servers were also friendly.

We held our wedding reception at Poway Brigantine. The rooms were beautiful and the staff was so helpful and friendly, from the planning of dishes with banquet coordinator Marissa to manager Michelle, who made sure everything went smoothly. We decided we wanted to serve appetizers rather than a sit-down meal, and were not disappointed. Each appetizer tray was delicious, and the guests loved the food. The Brigantine dedicated a large staff to our event, so that all of our guests drink orders were quickly provided. Fresh appetizers were brought out with perfect timing throughout our 3 hour reception. There is a lot of stress planning a wedding, but the Brigantine made the reception the easiest part. We're going to have to come up with another event so that we can book the Brigantine in Poway again! read more

This place is awesome. I went here and ordered the Crab Louie salad and it was amazing! The lettuce was so fresh and the 24$ I paid was totally worth it. I didn't even have to do any work by picking out any rotten lettuce because there wasn't any in the salad! Would you believe that salad can come in colors other than green? The Crab Louie has PURPLE lettuce! Not brown and rotting, but purple! I have to say, I have to say... I don't normally eat salad, but another patron ordered it and it looked so fresh and crisp that I just HAD to try it. To make things better, the manager came out and asked us how everything was. I am so impressed with this Brigantine! I made an open table reservation, however was hoping to get in earlier so I called to ask. They said that they were booked at the moment, but if we wanted to come in earlier and see if there was a spot in the bar area we could do that. So we headed to the restaurant early and on the way they called me to say they had an earlier table available for us. Great customer service wow! We were greeted with a warm welcome and smiles all around. Seating was safe and the employees all wore masks. Service was prompt, efficient, courteous, professional, outgoing, friendly, and engaging, it was awesome! We all had the prime rib special which was cooked to perfection with nice hot au jus on the side. Veggies were tender and fresh, and my baked potato came as ordered no sour cream or butter just chives. For appetizer we had the oysters and they were fresh and delicious. The Brigantine (hereafter "the Brig") is a local family-owned chain of a half dozen seafood-oriented restaurants in San Diego County. While the Coronado location is my favorite due to terroir, this suburban branch in Poway is less hassle to park at. Be advised that your enjoyment of your experience here is highly dependent on what you order. A good, affordable meal can be had at the Brig if you make the right decisions. However, if you make the wrong decisions, you can expect to leave with the itch to write a 1-star or 2-star review. For example, I've learned from my experiences at other Brig locations to avoid the "Clam Chowder" (too thick and filled with flour) and the "Calamari Strips" (flavorless breaded meat with a ketchup-like sauce on the side). The Brig is best-known for their fish tacos, and for legitimate reason. The fish tacos you will find here are gringo-style tacos, as made evident by their shredded yellow cheddar cheese and ranch dressing. The "Classic Brig Fish Taco" consists of these elements along with a crispy deep-fried fish filet with a light and airy crunchy batter that visually reminds me the batter of a Chicken McNugget (my apologies for being gross). The cooking and frying technique produce a moist and tasty piece of fish within the battered shell. The corn tortillas are not made on-premises, but are nonetheless decent tortillas, albeit a tad sour -- they're sourced from El Nopalito Tortilla Factory in Encinitas, who make them fresh each day for the Brig's restaurants. Other than the ranch dressing and cheese, the taco is hit with shredded cabbage and a salsa americana (tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice). Recently, I tried the "Sonoran Swordfish Taco," which contains all of the accouterments of the "Classic Brig Fish Taco," but with a grilled piece of swordfish. The fish has a meaty, firm texture and is well-seasoned. I'm not sure I'd be a fan of the Brig's swordfish if it was not in a taco, as it is a little dry, necessitating more acid, which you can regulate with the lime wedge provided. Also, moreso than with the fried fish, I could taste the cheese in every bite, as the cheese dominated the fish. On the same recent trip to this location, I also ordered the "Crispy Brussels Sprouts," which features sprouts with pork belly, linguiça, blue cheese, and salted caramel. Linguiça is a Portuguese version of Mexican/Spanish longaniza sausage, though linguiça is usually made with wine, garlic, and LOTS of paprika, giving it a characteristic "tart" and peppery flavor. Unfortunately, I didn't taste those traditional linguiça flavors at all here. I grew up in a Portuguese community eating lots of linguiça. Whatever sausage is served at the Brig in this dish, it is NOT linguiça. Other than that, the dish was fine. For years, people have been beating around the bush on making brussel sprouts sweet, first by adding balsamic reductions, then fruit glazes -- but now subtlety has been abandoned in favor of caramel. I kinda want to hate these crispy, fried brussel leaves drizzled in thick, sweet, unadulterated caramel, but how could I? How could anyone? The fish was "semi" warm but the tortilla was ice cold. My moms benedict was cold. To the touch you could feel the eggs were cold as well as the seafood that was under the egg. We sent back my nachos but my mom and sister didn't want to as the wait was already too long so they ate a few bites and we decided they would pick up something on the way home. I got my replacement nachos which were a little better, but to our surprise, we were still charged for them. Went to dinner with my cousin on Saturday night at the Brigantin in Poway. Had an AMAZING waitress named Alyssa. She was THE best waitress I have ever had! She was so full of joy and she was very knowledgeable about the specials ( which we ended up ordering) she was very attentive and easily available , friendly and joyful even on a Sat night when the place was packed! I used to be a waitress at an upscale restaurant so I know how hard the job is and I can recognize fantastic service when I get it. I will always ask for her when dining there and I suggest you do as well. She made our night!! Great service can really elevate a dining experience. The food was very very good as usual and the atmosphere is bright and open. Can't go wrong eating at the Poway Brig whether it's for a casual dinner or a special occasion this place gets top rating! From the outside of the restaurant, it looks ordinary but when you enter, the ambiance is quite...dare I say... fancy. My family and I dined here in a Friday evening. I would highly recommend to place reservations, especially if you want certain seating, like booth seats. Our server, Thomas, was very speedy and took care of our party very well! We order the Calamari Strips; unlike your common calamari, these were tender (not rubbery) and fried just enough that it did not come out oily. I ordered the Lobster Tacos, another dish I highly recommend! (The large plate dishes can be shared with two people, but I'm glad I did not share hehe). Huge portions of lobster, fried to perfection on soft blue corn tortillas. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to take a pic of the creme brulee, but OMG, that was just a great finisher to top off our first visit to a Brigantine restaurant. I just visited tonight on 11/9/23 at the Poway location and was greeted by my server with "Will it just be the two of us?". I loved this greeting as I often dine alone and it used to feel like a stigma if you ate alone. His greeting was refreshing and made me feel welcomed and included. You could tell this young man enjoys his job. A huge plus nowadays. My server went by the name "Q" and he was positive, informative of the menu and provided great service and follow up to my dining needs. The greatest thing was that he helped me as my car had died when I parked and Q made sure I got it running so I could safely get home. THANK YOU Q & Management!
