I really wanted to love this place. I am writing this review through my purchase via Uber Eats. I'm born and raised in Poway and I'm glad there is finally a Korean food spot here. I've heard great things about this place. Didn't feel like driving to it though because it was a long day at work. I ordered through Uber Eats and I got the Bulgogi, chicken wings (sweet/spicy wet rub), corn cheese and the Soondubu tofu soup. Bulgogi - 7/10; the portion was amazing however I felt that it was lacking flavor. Chicken wings - 8/10; flavor was there it was just a little bit too salty Corn cheese - 9/10; flavor was good, could have had more cheese for the cheesepull lol Soondubu tofu kimchi - 8/10; great portion size & solid flavor Food comes with rice, fish cake, sprouts, cucumber, kimchi and Korean mac salad. Great portion sizes as they were very generous. Flavor was 8 out of 10 in general. i'll have to drive here in person to order from there and try the eel bowl and kimbap. read more

Great to see Korean food make it way to the Poway area. Nestled in the industrial section of Poway sits Mama's Bowl tucked in the corner of a strip mall of small restaurant shops. What was known as a Poke Bar, Mama's Bowl exists inside and you have to scan a QR code to reveal the menu. Wanting something hearty and filling I went with the Bulgogi Rice Bowl topped with beef, pickled radish, salad, boiled egg and brown sauce. Beef was well cooked and seasoned with that sweet umami flavor. As a side I also ordered the Kimbap regular made of seaweed with carrot, pickled radish, cucumber, burdock, and egg. Great side dish to go with my meal. Overall great experience and satisfied with my meal. Service was excellent and she did a great job checking up on me and my meal. Thank you Mama's Bowl for satisfying my Korean cravings without having to drive all the way down to Kearny Mesa! The ambiance is casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the same counter as the poke place. They have a QR code to pull up the menu. For a pop up restaurant, they have almost every Korean entree you typically find at other restaurants. The owner is super sweet and inviting. The food was delicious, authentic, and fresh. It made me think of my own mom's delicious cooking! The portions were very filling...just wish they gave more rice to go with the large bowl of tofu soup :p We left happy and full! I will definitely be back for more! read more

If you want authentic, homemade Korean comfort food, Mama's Bowl is great! They reside inside a poke restaurant, so it's a "virtual" restaurant. We've ordered from DoorDash twice now and both times the food was delicious! The kimbaps are humongous and packed with veggies/meat. Japchae is so flavorful and loaded with ingredients. Also highly recommend dduk guk (rice cake soup). Don't expect fancy, but DO expect consistently good food made with love. read more

The food here is excellent! I'm glad there's good Korean food that's closer to me and I don't have to drive all the way to Convoy. Feels like there's not a lot of Korean choices around Poway so I'm really happy. Just fyi, they are in the same place as the poke place but you can still order in person instead of just online. I ordered the beef tofu stew and the vegetable pancake to go. Both were really delicious. The tofu stew had lots of tofu, meat, onions, and veggies and the broth was good. The pancake had lots of veggies and was really yummy. Highly recommended. Located near lots of offices so it seems like their bowls would be really good for take out. We wanted to try a range of items, so we ordered kimbap, tteok-mandu-guk (rice cake dumpling soup), spicy shrimp sauté, bulgogi, and tonkatsu. All dishes were served in to-go style containers, which honestly matched the casual atmosphere quite well. The tteok-mandu-guk was especially comforting and flavorful. The noodle dishes were tasty, and they live up to their name as it does taste like home cooking. I was most impressed that they were able to modify my lamb dish to have chow fun rice noodles vs. wheat noodles. I really appreciate the accomodation because I've been trying to cut back on gluten. Service is amazing and quick. Yoon(The woman who takes the orders) is so kind and makes the experience sooooo much better like it wasn't already great before. Food is 10/10.
