We waited 15-20 minutes to be seated another 20 minutes before the food came out. Mushroom pizza--yum! Both the cheese and mushroom pizzas were delicious. I took my niece for lunch to spend some quality time, and the lunch menu price was a great deal. You can't beat $7.99 for a kids' meal and $13.99 for an adult lunch. I ordered the kids' crispy chicken meal along with a pizza combo for myself, and I added the smashed potatoes fries for my niece. Let's just say you can do without it; save your money. The portion is small, and it was okay. I enjoyed eating the tomatoes basil soup and I highly recommend it. Also treat yourself and your loved one to a kid's ice cream sundae. It's only $1.99 and good enough to share for an adult and child. I think it's too much for a small child to eat anyway. Be sure to sign up for their free membership. I met some friends here for lunch during a weekday, and I didn't realize that they had such great lunch specials, which was a nice surprise. Located in a Plaza with several other businesses and plenty of parking, it was pretty easy to get a seat for an early lunch, and the place is pretty spacious. I ordered the lunch special with a pizza and salad. I went with a Neapolitan pizza and added pepperoni, which is how they recommend doing it. It comes with a red sauce and burrata the crust was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside haha and the pizza itself had a great flavor that I have been craving since. The salad I chose was the thai crunch salad, and it was so good. It definitely has some crunch with all of the fresh veggies they include. It also has chicken, crispy wontons and nuts in it. I love the dressing they used and poured extra onlinon mine. I will absolutely be ordering this combo again soon. This is a great spot for lunch and I'm sure dinner as well. Came here with some friends for lunch and we all took advantage of the lunch menu, which featured the choice a pizza duo $13.99, sandwich duo $13.99, pasta duo$12.99, or soup & salad duo $9.99. I opted for the pizza duo and selected the 7"California veggie pizza and a Thai crunch salad with dressing on the side. I was very pleased with my order. The salad had a bit too much fried wonton strips in comparison to the lettuce, but it was still good. I would've appreciated more of the healthy veggies, but can't really complain since the crispy wontons added a nice crunchy texture. I liked my pizza, which had broccolini, mushrooms, zucchini, tomatoes, and red onions. I also ordered a regular sized Sicilian pizza to go. It's been over a decade since any of us had CPK. I was gifted $50 card to spend and we ordered take out for 3 items. Went over by $15. I had called to place the order and they asked if I wanted curb side or walk in. I said walk in. My food was ready when I arrived and neatly packaged. Food was decent no complaints. We ordered The Works pizza ($20.49) which had pepperoni, Italian sausage but from the look of it, you see a lot of mushrooms and green peppers and would have thought it was vegetarian. I had the piccata noodles with the steak cauliflower was so good. They seasoned the cauliflower so well and it wasn't mushy, it had a lightly crunch center. It was cooked so well. I feel like it could have used a little more lemon or a little more sauce but otherwise it was so good. We also tried the gluten free pizza crust with the margarita pizza! The gluten free crust was as you would expect. It wasn't anything too special but still a good option. I love to see that they have options for all different dietary needs. CPK is a chain, but there are not many left in San Diego. I arrived and the parking lot was packed. It was near the holidays and this place is located in a large shopping area, with many stores. After circling for a bit, I was lucky to get a spot that was not very far away. We went in and were greeted right away by someone who could take our to go order. She was very nice, friendly, and offered some suggestions and answered any questions that we had. She promised the food in a certain time limit and it was ready at least 5 minutes before it was promised. The food is consistent, and the menu is fairly large. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and a salad, and they were great. The pizza only comes in 1 size though, I am not sure why. The food was warm, tasty, and consistent - just like other times I have ordered it before. The waiting area was a little chaotic. There was a large party there waiting for a table and they had some very energetic children who wanted to run, and scream, and play games. What a pleasant surprise! I used to eat here quite often and slowly their prices increased, so I stopped going. Recently I brought a group of 9 women with me and we had such a nice lunch, excellent service and very good food. Plus, they have great lunch specials! We came here before a movie to grab a drink and something to eat and I gotta say it was pretty busy. Granted it was a Saturday afternoon but I forgot that CPK was in this shopping center and how much variety the menu has. We grabbed seats at the small bar top area they had because we were just there for a quick bite but I gotta say these servers were working hard but it was hard to order or even get a drink sitting at the bar even with multiple servers walking right there. I understand being busy but I do think acknowledgement is always nice to know that we will get taken care of. We ended up just getting a glass of wine and shared the dumplings and of course the famous CPK mac n cheese because why not. Very random meal and plenty of food for the 2 of us because we obviously needed to get popcorn when we got to the theater. They're located in a shopping center, and we got lucky with some front row parking. It was 6:00 PM on Thursday and there was no wait, so that was nice. Our server, Elan, was the best part of our visit. He was friendly and attentive, and the only reason they're getting as high as three stars. The food was disappointingly average. LOVE love love CPK! I'm a Thai Crunch Salad girl, but tried the new Crispy Wanton Salad. It was delish! I'd add edamame next time as well though. We always went to the Solana Beach location until it closed .... SO sad. Now we have to travel to either of the 2 other locations which is over 30 min from us. Hopefully they actually open the Encinitas location (fingers crossed). Servers are always nice at CPK, they come often and I'm hardly ever lacking something. I love that we can grab a unbaked to-go pizza for $10ish with each entree as well. Such a great price. We'll usually give those to our kids, who live close but not at home. The only complaint I have is that the Crispy Mac & Cheese Balls haven't come back on the menu. My boys literally grew up on these when we went out. I think we ask every time, if they're back on the menu. Who knows, someday they may show up ..... The Carmel Mountain location is light and airy inside. They have a ton of booths, which I prefer and I've never had to wait for a table. They keep the place clean and the ambiance is low-key. Super for families! read more

I'm no stranger to CPK. I used to go at least a few times every month. The food usually is pretty consistent. My favorite thing to get is the egg rolls. It's not like the Chinese egg rolls. These are massive fried-tortilla covered goodness. The egg rolls are a must-order every time I go. Another dish I like to order is the Cobb salad. It is a calorie-packed, protein-filled goodness. My mom's favorite is the salmon piccata. She especially loves the pasta with lemon-caper sauce. Honestly, I don't think I've had a bad meal at CPK when I eat in the restaurant. Now, take-outs, that's another matter. I've had couple of bad experiences with take outs. One time, we showed up at the quoted time to pick up our order, and was told it wasn't ready. 30 minutes later, it's still not ready. When it was finally ready, I looked inside, and it wasn't even my order. Then we found out, that bag that was sitting on the counter for the last 30 minutes. That was our food. The server missed it (even though I went up to check on it every 10 minutes or so). By the time we got home (5 minutes away), our food was cold. But I do have to mention, however, when we called the restaurant to let them know of the issue which resulted in cold food, they offered to remake it right away. I drove back to the restaurant to pick up the remake when the manager came out to personally apologize and gave us a gift card as service recovery. It wasn't really necessary as I've already agreed to have the food remade. However her gesture was very much appreciated. But the lesson learned is to avoid doing take-out. And if you must, be diligent in checking on your orders before you leave. read more

We went on a Sunday night. It wasn't packed, but there were a handful of people in the restaurant. The amount of time that we waited for our food was ridiculous. The food was pretty good, so that was the saving grace. The guacamole was mainly corn with some avocado chopped up, so it wasn't really traditional guac, but it was delicious!! The club pizza was good but it had a whole "bag full" of arugula on it. Like, a full salad on top of the pizza. Arugula is good, but the amount was overkill. Still a good taste though. Our waitress didn't come and check on us, refill our drinks (even after asking), and didn't bring more napkins. Though our waitress was nice, the lack of service wasn't okay. Went to lunch with my wife yesterday. Hadn't been to this (CPK) in quite awhile. We both decided to try a couple of the new salads on the menu. I ordered the WBC bowl (West Coast Burger) and it was very good. I would definitely order again. My wife tried a half of the Charcuterie salad. She said all the ingredients were very good except the house made crackers were lacking as they were so puffed up and broke into pieces making it difficult to make a good bite with the meats and cheeses. I ordered the new dessert that's a round churro with ice cream and whipped cream and caramel. It was delicious. We are regular diners here because it's the closest CPK to our home and one of our daughter's home. Last week, on Friday, 29 August we attempted to celebrate my daughter's 32nd birthday here and what a mess and disappointment. There were 8 of us PLUS a 3-month old, my granddaughter and I specifically called to make a reservation for a table in the back of the restaurant where we could sit quietly and where my daughter could possibly bring her stroller. I was very specific that we wanted a table in the back where it is generally quieter and we could actually have conversations and without people stalling in and out. We show up on time and guess what - we waited and waited and waited and then the hostess says, "the only table we can put you now is the high tops that we will push together." I asked, "But I made a reservation and was specific about wanting a table in the back!" So, okay - what am I going to do? Our waiter was a good guy, Nate, who was stretched thin with multiple table all over the restaurant and he tried to be attentive, but when he was doing tables all over the restaurant, . . . . . . the quality of service was not exactly attentive and there were long stretches where we waited and waited and waited, . . .to order, to get food from the kitchen, to get drinks refilled. BUT, again - this was NOT Nte;s fault because he was constantly on the move. What I found interesting w - there were staff who were NOT busy and could have easily helped with food delivery, drink refills, etc. Really irritating!! And, the food came out of the kitchen seriously browned - my chicken piccata was singed BLACK and the oil was browned from over-heating. Like WTH? And the new Baked Mac and Cheese pans were also seriously charred from over heating. We told Nate that it was my daughter's birthday and when the entrees were done, he was great about helping with plates and a knife to cut the cake, but we had to collect all the plates and stacks em and put them on a table next to us because the other staff who were just walking around didn't offer to help. I was a waiter in my younger days and TEAMWORK is paramount to success in a restaurant, especially when busy. The staff at this CPK is NOT a team and the kitchen was poor in food prep on his day. I did NOT blame Nate - he tried so hard to be attentive and I gave him 20% and I told him I appreciated how hard he tried. But the rest of the support staff and the manager at this CPK on the 29th - WHAT THE HECK? What should have been a memorable hosting of my daughter's birthday was a personal source of frustration and an embarrassment as the host!! read more

It had been a long time since we last visited California Pizza Kitchen, and unfortunately this visit reminded us why we stopped going. We ordered the steak salad, The Works pizza, and the buffalo cauliflower. The steak salad was especially disappointing. It came with only about 6 tiny pieces of overcooked steak, and the entire salad was drenched in an overly sweet dressing that completely overpowered everything else. The Works pizza was also pretty subpar and lacked flavor. Ironically, the buffalo cauliflower ended up being the best thing we ordered and was the only dish we actually enjoyed. We came in hoping CPK would be good but sadly this will probably be our last visit. read more

My friend had the lemon picata and although I didn't try it, she said it was delicious. Sweetest server today, Maddie who was attentive and so nice. Lots of refills and dishes came quick. Table behind us seemed demanding, felt bad they were being rude when she was so kind. Plenty of parking at this location and plenty of seating. Bar area, booths, and tables. Several days ago I posted a negative review of CPK due to a nearly inedible take out pizza. It was one of their top sellers, the BBQ chicken. The same evening, I received an emails from CPK asking "how'd we do". After replying negatively, the manager phoned me with apologies. He also offered a gift card, which is appreciated. I will try them again soon, in hopes that my complaint about lack of oversight in the kitchen was taken seriously. When I called to order takeout, someone from corporate answered the phone and submitted the order for me. Did not like that. I called the store to confirm the order went through and it was ready decently quick. I drove to our home, since this is the closest location to me, and Opened everything up. We got two pizzas and two chicken Caesar salad salads. The pizzas were about 10 inches and the salads were enough for the three people eating tonight. Now here's the bad part. It was NINETY DOLLARS for two mini pizzas and two Caesar salads. The pizzas used to be a lot bigger. And I made sure to order the pizzas that were $22 or whatever... BETTER THAN THE BOX! I usually buy the CPK boxes at the grocery store and shove them in the oven, but nothing can beat the in-restaurant experience. It's soooo much better getting my Mushroom-Pepperoni-Sausage pizza out of a brick oven and fresh! The pizza was super tasty and crispy. We got the regular crust and it blew our minds. My party and I also tried the salad, it was surprisingly fresh and not too bad! It's the Thai Salad I think? For dessert, we had the Belgian Chocolate Cake w/ Vanilla Ice Cream,. It tasted like a soufflé made in heaven. Overall, our service was great, our waitress Sofia was very attentive and professional. She kept our drinks full on this hot, hot day. Sofia was also courteous and removed our plates without us asking. She deserves a major shoutout! The other staff were pretty nice too, only a couple of odd balls with staring problems, but not too bad. The ambiance was relaxed for the most part, there were plenty of families and various age groups. It never got wild. This is a fantastic spot to see a Padres game! Wasn't packed either, more than half the place was empty, so did service just fall asleep or what? The food though really was seriously good, the chipotle chicken pizza was FINGER LIP LICKIN GOD DAMN TALLYWHACKER GOOD, the strawberry mango drink was intense enough that I BLEW MY GUMS OUT and yeah thats it really, not the best review but it was "okay". My friend and I arrived just as they opened after seeing an early movie. We were seated on the patio by the hostess and then greeted by our server, Naomi. She was absolutely delightful and attentive. We ordered a pizza to go and she was "on top" of that! When we left, I got to the car and realized I had left my cell phone on the chair at the table. I am really trying to like this place. I think the food is just ok and the service is just ok. My recent visit to CPK for was a work lunch. Maybe lunch is not the right time to stop by for some food? We had to wait to be seated and then wait for the waitress to help us. Once we were helped, the waitress was great. The place is clean and well organized. Parking is fairly easy except having to cross incoming cars to the shopping center. The food is ok. It wasn't bad but also did not stand out as delicious. The menu has a decent amount of items, for all tastes. Based on my last few visits I am not impressed with the food offered. I have tried the pasta, pizza and salad. With so many restaurants nearby the additional wait during lunch has caused me to remove this place as a lunch option. I've been visiting this CPK more frequently because it's so nice inside. It's really a beautiful, well laid out restaurant. The servers are all so thoughtful and friendly. I recently enjoyed their Chicken Piccata and was really impressed. Pasta was hot and al dente with tender juicy chicken and a delicious lemony caper sauce. Their Shaking Beef is also well made, beautifully presented and quite tasty. The P in CPK of course stands for pizza so I tried their Burnt Ends BBQ Pizza and it was excellent. We were so disappointed to see how CPKs food has become in the last decade. The quality has significantly gone down and we left so unhappy with our meal. Service- good as can be for a busy night. We did have to wait a bit even after we got seated. Cleanliness- the person that cleaned our table either forgot to collect the silverware, dirty napkins and food under our table or they just don't do that until the end of the night. Food- artichoke dip was extremely watered down. The chips that were served to us were unbelievable. It was literally the crumbs at the bottom of the bag and you knowwww they're the ones on the bottom because they're extremely grainy and taste super salty. Tostada pizza- 0/5. The dough was burnt, the beans were extremely dried out to the point where it looked like dried out poop and it was missed on half the pizza and topped with a ridiculous amount of lettuce and not many other toppings. Extremely disappointed in the food as we were so excited to bring our kids here for the first time. We used to love coming here as a family years ago! The Costco gift cards seem to attract a lot of families which is cool but in our opinion not worth the quality of food.
