Over time I've had everything done here from regular cleanings and cavity fillings to wisdom teeth removal and every experience has been smooth, professional, and pain free. I've referred many friends and family to this office and every single one of them has come back with the same positive feedback. That says a lot about the consistency and quality of care they provide. Before finding them I had been to other dentists and had some bad experiences but I feel truly lucky and grateful to be under their care now. Their new office is absolutely beautiful, modern, spacious, bright, and spotless. You can tell they've invested in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for their patients. !!!! Don't come here unless you want to wait for an hour and not even get seen. Had an appointment for 9:40 and waited an hour until I asked the receptionist when I would be seen she said she would check. Then the other lady came and asked to rebook me to a slower day. I wasted an hour of sick time to come in and sit in the waiting room. Their excuse was "we have a family of 3 children that just came in", which is not an excuse because those should be better planned. The communication with this office has been terrible. You can call and leave messages and no one will call you back. I didn't want to try this office again but someone convinced me to try and so I actually made contact and made an appointment. I received a call a few days before my appointment but there was no message. I called back that evening and left a messagw confirming that I could attend my appointment and repeated the date and time, so if there was an issue then they would tell me. I arrive and I am told that my appointment is on the next day. They have no record of my message. I said they did not leave me a message (supposedly they had an earlier opening). Also when asked if I may obtain a copy of my medical records, they said no!! Former Long term patient but never again. My wife saw him on June 9 where told needed crowns which hurt and resulted in visiting him every 2 weeks until January when able to switch to Beach Dental group who fixed in 1 visit. To Summarize: 1. Never tested for root canal which was identified 2 months later. 2. Never did a cast for crown so both attempts at permanent crown were way too big. 3. Told needed gum surgery to lengthen thankfully saw other dentist that said was no need since plenty of tooth. This would have been a procedure with high infection risk to cover his mistakes and 8 weeks to recover. 4. Dr. Bassiri says he will refund cost of procedure, cover lengthening and add new crowns back. My mistake not in writing. 5. Lied to about covering costs. This despite all of us being long time patients who have paid thousands of dollars out of pocket to him plus the tens of thousands insurance paid him. Biller said was our word vs his. Upon my initial exam, they tried to sell me a $800 "Deep Cleaning." I stated that I did not want that, but just my free cleaning under the policy. The Quack Dentist refused to honor the policy and provide my free cleaning unless I paid her $800 for the "Deep Cleaning." TRUST ME. Avoid this Quack. Mark my words, if you go you will be subject to a hardcore Upsell, and refusal of Benefits unless you give in to their demands. My Dental Insurer has contacted the Quack regarding the refusal to honor my insurance policy and will terminate the Quack's right to treat the Insurer's patients. They are scam artists. read more

The staff here is very nice. The lead doctor, whose name starts with a "B", not so much. I was a new patient. I called seeking xrays and a cleaning. I made the first available appointment. I sat through about 40 minutes of xrays, then waited 20 minutes before I asked when my cleaning would occur. It was at this time that I was told "we don't don't do cleanings until the doctor has met with you, to evaluate 'which' type of cleaning is recommended." I stated that I had requested and booked an appointment with a cleaning, and was told that "they told you when you booked that you would not have a cleaning as a new patient". I assured the staff member "they" had not told me this. I was then told 2 more times that "they" had said this at booking before I left-and I left shortly after Bc then I met the doctor. I had booked my appointment with my Assigned doctor after reading reviews online and research. Her name is Dr Lam. I had booked an appointment with her. I never saw her and she apparently wasn't even there on the day I arrived. Needing to get this done, I pushed ahead with this other doctor, who I was told is the owner and that they all see all patients. Dr 'b' (believe it is bishir or something but I never looked that guy up as he wasn't my doctor) sat down, introduced himself, and asked about my experience. I told him I had booked both a cleaning and the xrays, and he was the 2nd person - that want on the phone-who told me what someone else said. He then said he couldn't say yet whether I would need a regular cleaning, or an "intensive" cleaning. I have been going to the dentist for 30 years. I have had dental work before. I understood that this "intensive" cleaning was an attempt at an upsell. I told him ok, but that I would not be agreeing to an uncovered cleaning. At which point he got riled up. The doctor tried to turn it back on me, that his evaluation was what would happen, not what was covered, or what I consented to. He sat down to "evaluate" me, said I didn't look happy. I said it's ok, let's just do the evaluation. HE THEN WALKED OUT OF THE ROOM FOR 10 MINUTES TO HAVE A TANTRUM AND TOLD HIS STAFF HE WOULDN'T SEE ME. I have no clue who this guy is-never heard of his name until about 7 minutes ago. But he clearly needs work on his bedside manner, and sadly a waste of time I don't have in my schedule. Again, the staff was lovely. They were polite and responsive-and other than not telling me in advance that the cleaning wasn't today's appointment, they did nothing wrong. Sadly, they also did not seem surprised by this guys attitude or antics. Steer clear. Trust a doctor that doesn't throw a fit when a patient says he or she prefers the covered cleaning. I don't doubt the doctor wants to "evaluate" a patient first, but this is the first time a dentist had done so before the cleaning in my 30+ years of biannual check ups. read more

He is very personable, friendly and knowledgeable and does a variety of treatments which I appreciate instead of having to go to so many different places. And his office has been constantly updated over the many years I have visited and they have top notch technology. So I came and sure enough everything my sister said was correct, these people are beyond amazing. Very friendly and caring and gentle. The dentist, Dr. Bassiri amazing to say the least. I have been coming here for years and I now realized that I hate coming here. They ask who is going to pay for my work when its none of their concern as long as it gets paid. Also, the dentist that checked me ( a woman ) reassured that this is common and I am not looking any worse etc and then the staff in the front makes side comments like " oh wow a lot has changed ", and they commented on how much work I need done which is very unnecessary and it is embarrassing for me. I always feel judged here and probably won't come anymore or request to switch to a different facility. Another thing is they called me to schedule me in and said " you probably have a root canal by now " as if that's something casual to say and give someone anxiety for no reason because that would not be known until a checkup is done. read more

When the very best thing that happens to you all month long (medically speaking) is a broken tooth and new crown...well, that's not a great month (again, medically speaking). I've been something of a medical mystery to my team of crack physicians (or is it crack fueled clinicians...I never know which) lately. They have flung me back and forth from one doc to the next specialist, like the unfortunate shuttlecock in some demented badminton game that the Korean Olympic Badminton Team is trying to lose! Pain, tests, diagnosis, more tests, misdiagnosis, new "specialists", drugs, pain and more drugs...and that was just to be able to poop in the morning! Trying to figure out and solve the actual problem has proven to be even more difficult! In the midst of all that, I was having a nosh... just trying to keep my strength up...and I bit on something that didn't agree with my poor old tooth and "snap...ouchy!!!!!!"...there it went! My good Yelp buddy Vanessa H had raved about the lovely people at Bright Dental, so I gave them a call. They worked me in quickly and got to work on creating the stunningly beautiful crown that now graces the stump where my own tooth once lived among its enameled brethren! They also did the full meal deal exam and cleaning for me, since it was getting to be that time of the year (BTW, I love that they use digital x-rays...no more sharp film trays and waiting 10 minutes while the films develop...they will even show you the x-rays on a screen in front of the dental chair while they work...kind of like having ESPN on while you're getting a hair cut or something)! And Bright Dental was wonderful...the entire staff is friendly and professional (no upsells, no hard sells...just the facts and great care) and the dentists (both Dr. Bassiri and especially Dr. Behroozi) were exceptionally competent and caring...unlike some of my other doc's lately! I know, I know...five stars might seem to be excessive for a dental practice. But given my other medically oriented experiences this past month, and given the fact that Dr. Behroozi and the rest of the staff didn't hurt me (when I was, quite frankly, already in enough pain), I think five bright and shiny stars for Bright Dental Care seems just about right! See my nickname? I have had THE WORST dental nightmares imaginable. I won't go into them here, but part of the issue has been the crappy HMO dental insurance we have. All of the local places that accept it are like back alley butchers, I swear to you. One had old dusty equipment and hookers out front. Another "scaled" my teeth with a water pick. My mom recommended Bright Dental to me, because she's in the same boat. We are British, so you can imagine the dental probs in our family. The office is beautiful, modern and clean, They scale the hell outta your teeth, which I love (masochist?). Dr. Behroozi is a sweetheart, She has really tiny hands and constantly asks you if she's hurting you, honey. I bring my daughters to her so they won't experience the dental trauma that I went through. Dr. Bassiri is really cool too, he reminds me of Ahmet Zappa. They explain everything before they start working, which reduces anxiety for me. A plus- they're not high pressure. I need some restorative work done, but they understand that money's tight and don't try to scare or hard sell you. I think my kids actually like coming here! I just hope they don't decide to decline HMOs in future, or it's back to the butchers for me. read more

Dr. Bassiri made me cry. In a totally good way. Totally. I've needed braces for a little under 15 years and a little over 21 months ago made the decision to make them my number one. Without ever looking back (well almost never, braces be hurtin' yo) I sit in front of this here computer, writing this here review, with the best smile I never knew I had. I joke. But seriously it was worth the monthly visits, the chainsaws, bands, brackets, pain, embarrassment and harassment. Quick tip: Dudes love braces. So I had a big FIRST yesterday. My first cavity filling. On top of that, it was my first real visit to this dentist's office. I switched my HMO dental insurance after moving and was assigned to Bright Dental Care. I wasn't nervous, until I realized that you get a shot to numb you up for a filling ("the shot goes WHERE?!"). Dr. Bassiri was great at putting me at ease when he understood it was the first time I'd ever had anything like this done. His bedside manner was impeccable, and I'm really grateful for that. I don't know if it's common practice, but he also did my teeth cleaning - I don't mind having an oral hygienist do this procedure, but I always appreciate it when a dentist does this too. The office was clean, the staff was friendly, and payment was handled smoothly. The dentist I saw for my consultation, however, told me that I would need a tooth extraction & replacement for a baby tooth that has no adult tooth behind it. I've known this for some time, but after Dr. Bassiri took one look at it, he said I should hang onto it for as long as possible. That has been the idea for me, and so I appreciated that he wasn't quick to price out an expensive extraction & implant. 4 stars for now, but as I continue to come here for other treatments I will likely write a review update. read more

Great Dentists, Helpful staff, clean office. So far I've only had Xrays, cleanings, and fillings done here, but I intend to get braces, wisdom teeth extraction and possibly whitening done too. I'll let you know how that goes. Here's my spiel: I'm a poor college student and I'm not covered by the UCI health insurance, nor by my parents insurance any longer. My dad's office help me set up a cheap individual Cigna HMO plan and this was the only doctor accepting this insurance who also had a yelp review lol. So I decided to take my chances... Dr. Bassiri was awesome! I set up an appointment pretty quickly, he answered all my questions before I even asked and when I asked about pricing for certain services he said "in this office, we never charge you for anything that we haven't already discussed with you. There are no surprises, we deal with all that stuff before we even seat you in the exam chair." That was a relief for me bc I have had dentist in the past who see me for a service that I assumed was covered by the insurance, and 2 months later i get a bill in the mail! The female doctor there (i forgot her name) also saw me on a different day for some fillings and a cleaning. Originally they were going to charge me a little extra to do the white fillings, but I called and told the staff I just wanted to do whatever the insurance covered (the gray fillings) and they did not look down on me or guilt me, they just quickly noted it. Yeah one day when I have a full time job I will be able to pay for the best services, but for now, I just need to get by. Overall, if you have trust issues or a tight budget like me, Dr. Bassiri's office is very understanding and willing to work with you. The schedule gets busy pretty fast, which reassures me that this is a good office and there are loyal customers. Also, they can get you in really early if you have work or school (I was seen at 7am on a Friday!) but just let them know your schedule and they will work with you :) read more

One of the worst things about moving is trying to find new everything...new doctor, new mechanic, new dentist. We've been here two years and had yet to find a good dentist in this area, but fortunately I think Bright Dental is it. The office is very nice and clean, with all modern equipment. Not only did they take digital x-rays and show them to me on a computer monitor, they also took digital pictures of my teeth and put them on the monitor so that the dentist could point out any problems. Nice! I've never had a dentist who did that before. Usually dental x-rays are an awful ordeal for me, but the hygienists here were very good and it was a much easier process than usual. The entire staff was very pleasant and professional. They were happy to explain everything and never tried to sell us expensive, unnecessary work. My husband needed a few fillings, and they just told him exactly what was needed and how much it would cost. No pressure at all. They also had no problem accepting our insurance. read more

Dr. Bassiri is incredibly gentle and I've had a great experience with her. She filled a tiny cavity of mine and didn't want to leave me numb all day so she filled it very gently without anesthetic and it was totally painless- which surprised me! She's awesome! The problem here and the reason I'm changing dentists is that the office staff are completely disorganized. They cancelled my husband's appointment for July 5 that he made weeks- um, didn't you know that you were going to close the day after the 4th of July weeks ago? Also, they kept using my cell phone to call to remind him of his appts- I keep telling them to write down his cell phone number and call HIM for his appts- yet they still kept calling me. Recently I got a call the day before the teeth cleaning I had scheduled 2 months in advance and they asked me if I REALLY needed that appt or if I could move it bc they were short-staffed. I only have one day off- no, I cannot move my appt at the last minute. Also at every dentist office I've ever been to they schedule your next 6 month cleaning at the time that you have your first one, which they don't do here. I have to remember to call and schedule it myself. Anyway, the bottom line is that life is too busy to deal with the disorganization of the staff. This is my second time posting a review for this dental office. I cannot rave enough about how patient and courteous they are to their patients' time and needs. I had an appt. at 11:30 but came in an hour earlier because I had to be at work in LA by noon! A problem that was mine and not theirs mind you. They were able to see me right away and was already getting worked on the in less than 10 minutes. I was very vocal to the dental assistant Luis about being pressed for time and needing to leave by a certain time; at one point I was even getting impatient and a bit aggravated because my manager kept texting me. I am pretty sure they felt that energy and I feel horrible because again, this was not their fault. However, despite all of that, Luis and Pratna (dental assistant) really came through and did as many procedures as they could before the doctor had to see me. I had to leave by 11:50 and when the doctor came in to finally put my crown in, it was around 11:40. Although she worked as quickly as she could, she was very diligent and did an amazing job in putting in my crown. I was able to walk out the door literally by 11:50. The doctor even gave me a complimentary whitening kit for my "patience and for the inconvenience". I was so grateful. If anything, I was the one who inconvenienced them and was not helping by being moody and rushed. I couldn't be more pleased with the team at Bright Dental in Costa Mesa! Thank you guys! read more

Very informative, simple communication style which is easily understood and a pleasure to deal with. I've been coming here for many years, first when I only had an HMO, still by choice when I upgraded to a PPO, and now drive well out of my way to remain with this office. I'm impressed by the incredibly warm and happy staff, the light hearted demeanor in the office, and the dentists. I initially saw Dr. Bassiri for years and the addition of Dr. Lam definitely rounded out the office and was a wonderful addition. I recently came in for an "uncomplicated" wisdom tooth removal. I unexpectedly had a lot of anxiety and a reaction to the local and literally sat in that office for hours waiting to work up the will to proceed, and work with them on finding the alternative anesthetic used on my procedure. It was finally removed with no discomfort. I walked away more impressed with the patience, grace and warmth Bassiri, Dr. Lam and the staff showed me. My husband and I love this dental office the staff is lovely and the dentist are Caring and Careful always making sure our experiences are PAIN FREE and pleasant. This review however comes after a complete emergency. We called the office Friday evening hoping it was still open, we missed the office hours but they have a dentist on call. After my husband broke his front tooth Veneer biting into an almond bark he was able to see Dr.B and came home with raving reviews. Dr.B managed to take care of his teeth with the same caring and careful manner as always on Labor Day weekend. He was pleasant and effective to his needs. Dr. Bassiri and Dr. Behroozi are great. My whole family (including kids - so not sure about why the other reviewer said they wouldn't take kids) has been going there for over a year. Since moving to Orange County several years ago I had a hard time finding a dentist. Every time I went somewhere they would try to sell me deep cleaning treatment plans, etc., which I found odd, seeing as I have never even had a cavity! Dr. Bassiri and Dr. Behroozi are helpful and professional and don't ever try to sell me anything. They give me realistic advice regarding my kids and their future dental and orthodontic needs without trying to push us into expensive treatment plans too early. Yes, you do often have to wait 10-15 minutes - yet I have never been to a dentist or doctor that always runs on time. Yes, they have called me before to cancel because an emergency patient has thrown off their day - but that is the beauty - they called me to reschedule instead of making me wait around for an hour!
