My child spent over a year here from her 2.5-3.5. It was a wonderful experience with all teachers and staff. Thank you guys for the family feel, the love to what you do and how it shows, working so hard, keeping children safe, happy and helping them grow. I wish we could have stayed with you forever. I wish I could have sent my first kid here. If I were to choose a daycare again, I would have go here without a second thought. Recommend highly. read more

I posted the past review while taking cate of my sick son again and both of us getting no sleep. It's hard to see your kid in pain and there's nothing you can do for them. I do wish the center took more precautions in not spreading diseases. But to be fair, it's also parents that keep sending their sick kids to the center and so my review wasn't fair for that reason (yelp doesn't have a delete function and hopefully folks can see i was sleep deprived and having a hard time). When it comes to Om having teachers who have helped him reach his milestones and getting exposed to learning early on, this center does do that well. read more

I have called and visited this location to enroll my son in summer. I was given by the name Laura ro help me with applications. Laura emailed she does not managed school aged children and copied the email to this location but nobody replied since March . The website is not reliable when you click it will just asked you to visit or there is messages live assistant who cant even help you . The lady in front of the main entrance she will tell just tell you its expensive to enroll there. She will you email where to apply but another unreliable site. read more

This is really poor service, so I called, and they are saying their virtual visits are booked up until January / Feb of last year, they have no idea when a spot can be available nor tell me the time frame of a toddler program if I choose to commit to registration, I mean every virtual tour they do doesn't mean the family will end up securing a space, I find it ridiculous that they have zero capacity to take virtual calls, and also have no clue when or roughly when a spot could be available. Their reviews overall are quite poor, so I am glad I passed on this one! read more

Stay away - you don't know how hard to get hold of any of their staff during the day if you miss the emergency call form the teacher. The poor APP is also not user friendly, you could never send a msg to the center... not worth the money you paid for the ones you care and love. read more

I moved my twin 3 year olds from another preschool where I was unhappy with management and my girls were acting up and never wanted to go to the school or to the teachers. They weren't being challenged enough and were simply bored half the time. Now, they skip into school every morning laughing and happy, love their teachers, and are learning so much and being so creative it blows my mind how different things are from the last school. I tried this center out because my current home daycare provider was in an accident and I needed emergency backup child care for my 10th month old. Never take your infant to the Bright Horizons San Jose. First of all, the hallway to the "classrooms" reminded me of a hospital hallway the way it was set up. Doors on both sides, food push trays along the walls, and then when I entered the nursery it was dirty. This afternoon when I picked her up, I stood there staring at a huge spit up on a mattress that was on the floor for 5 minutes at least until one of the teachers sitting right next to it was asked to clean it by another teacher who didn't notice it either until I was staring at it. Also this morning, this same mattress on the floor had hair on it and it was only 8:30am when I dropped off my daughter. Shouldn't everything be clean in the morning? Never going back there! Also, the infants were sharing food back and forth and touching each others food. they were also trying to make my 10th month old sit in a chair to eat at a table instead of a little high chair. And they had a basket in this low table that was full of food, such as english muffins, etc and the infants that were able to pull up to the table were able to reach it touch the food, pull it out, etc. read more

My daughter started at BH at 10 weeks old and we only recently left just before her 1st birthday because we had to relocate. We loved everything about this center - the teachers are amazing and kind, their menu is nutritious and diverse (lots of healthy plant-based proteins!), they are organized and communicative, they plan fun events for the kids and their parents, safe, fun learning environment - I could go on and on. I wish we didn't have to leave. BH set the bar high on my expectations for a day care. read more

I have had all 3 of my children (now 9, 7, and 5) at this center since they were each 6 weeks old. I work across the street and I would go over to the center every day to nurse my kids on my lunch hour for the first year of their lives. Yes, I was in the center, observing the staff, every weekday for 3 years! I love the open door policy: drop in any time, even without notice, to check up on or visit your child. It has been 9 years since we started at the center, and my husband and I have not regretted one minute of it! Our kids have been through all of the classrooms - Infant, Toddlers, Twos, Preschool, Kinder Prep, and even their private Kindergarten and School Age Summer Camp programs. All of the teachers in each of the classrooms have been loving, caring and attentive. My kids have learned so much, made great friends, learned how to interact socially with kids and adults, been exposed to diverse people, foods and educational topics, and have truly enjoyed their experience at the center (as have my husband and I, of course!). The menu is great, and not having to pack a lunch and snacks everyday is a huge plus! Everyday, I get an email with pictures and narrative about what my children have been doing that day. Several times a year, there are parent-teacher conferences where the teachers discuss the progress my children have made in the previous few months. My 2 older children currently attend a private elementary school, and I feel that Bright Horizons prepared them very well for elementary education. I have been a member of the Parent Partnership Group since we joined the center. The group meets monthly with the director of the center, Katherine, who is always very attentive to any needs and concerns of all of the families at Bright Horizons. The entire staff is amazing. Bright Horizons at San Jose has been a second home to my family and we are so fortunate to have discovered this center nine years ago! read more

I put my daughter in this center since she was 7 months old, so we have been with this center for about 3,5 years now. She learns to crawl, walk, sing new songs, ABCs and now is learning to write her name here. I have only noticed improvements after the new management's take over. New, more educational toys are in the classroom, the classrooms setups are more inviting, healthier meals/snacks (they have a kitchen on site), and weekly lesson plans are updated on time for parents to see. I just received the summer program plan and it is a big improvements compare to the previous ones. Used to be the kids would have biking and water play twice a week, and one time animal show for the whole summer. This time looks like there will be magician, juicing day, yoga, water play, etc... The teachers turnover has been in the high side for the past year (started during the old management time), and I hope they can resolve this soon! The new management have brought in better quality subs teachers, but I do hope they can hire permanent ones soon. From my experiences, Bright Horizons has been taking parents' feedbacks seriously and taking immediate actions when it is necessary. If you are looking for a center which provides healthy, balanced meals with good flexible hours, as well as provides balanced academic and play times, give this center a try. It is not perfect (I wish I can take care my daughter myself!), but it is definitely much better than the other centers we toured 3, 5 years ago. read more

I am thirteen now, and I went to bh for two horrible years of my life. Five years later and I'm still emotionally scarred. I started in second grade, and I was put in with kids ranging from seven to thirteen. First of all, for something so overpriced, they were late picking us up from school. The bus driver would go pick up Mcdonalds for her grandson before picking us up over fifteen minutes late. Often times once I got there, there was no snack for us. Often times my friends who got there early would save food for us, but not all the time. This is what got me. THey were sexist. The teachers made all the girls stay in and clean while the boys got to go play. On fridays on of the teachers would often sell ice cream. She bought the ice cream herself and kept the kids money for herself. I was discouraged from playing sports. The outdoor play area was full of mole holes and more than one child has been bitten. If i wrote about all the horrendous stuff that happened here, I think this review would fill a novel. This is a real review written by someone who experienced the horribleness. So take my advice. Get your kids out before they are scarred for life like me. :( read more

We had our son here for about a year and a half. Everything was fine until management changed and staff changed. My son has severe food allergies and asthma. They "lost" his asthma medication on more than one occasion. Last straw was when they lost his brand new epi pen and blamed it on me that I never brought it in. Two weeks went by before they even realized it was missing - mind you, and the only time he's ever had an anaphylactic reaction was while in their care. This place is awful. We sent our 2-year-old daughter to this center last October for her to experience and transition. But she cried every day. One day when we picked her up, we saw her crying in the room and no body is caring for her. The carer was absent minded and not respectful towards us in answering questions. What's more, we found strong scratches on her legs and they did not even tell us beforehand. We also were not sure whether those injuries were caused by accident or man. Horrible. Stay away! New management or new management control. The day care used to be very good, with the most amazing teachers. Hence the better reviews from a while ago. However, recent management changes have caused a lot of problems. The new management does not get along with teachers or parents. 3 teachers left my daughters class in about a month, and as a result most of the workload fell to daily or monthly temporary teachers. There was no continuity and as a result care suffered. They 'forget' to make the kids wear jackets when it is cold, or sunscreen when bright resulting in colds and sunburns. We pulled her out, and moved to a much better place. read more

We continue to be happy with the care provided here. The staff is attentive and communicates a lot with the parents. Every day a summary (with pictures) of what the children did that day is emailed to the parents. If I ever have a question or concern, the staff addresses it immediately and follows up. 1) Food: the food that center offers in not healthy. Most days, the center offers pre-made foods and canned fruits to kids. For the other days, the center claims that it provides food from scratch, but that is not true. The center uses canned vegetables and frozen ingredients to make meals for kids. How do you expect to teach kids about healthy food in this center? 2) Playground: the playground for infants and toddlers is not good. Staff who take care of the kids in this area have minimum interactions with kids. They just stand there and babysit kids. I notice many running noses kids in this area, but the staff do not bother to clean them. They clean kids when moms about to pick up their kids!! 3) Toddler program(room number 2): in the morning, you drop off your kid to one care giver. You think that care giver knows all about your kid's routine. But, the reality is that by the time you pick up your kid, he had 3 different care givers during the day! one who spends the most of the day with, one during lunch, and one after 4, and they are not the same people everyday. The primary care givers leave at 4:00, and the staff who take care of your kid does not care that much about your kid. It seems the staffs do not communicate properly to tell the needs of your kid when they switch shifts. 4) Primary caregiver: I am very happy with the primary care giver in toddler program room2. She is so nice to kids, and it seems kids like having her around. I wish her work schedule was longer. I think the center wants to cut its cost!! read more

Our son has gone here since he was 5 months old. He is now 2 and a half years. We love it. Our son has learned so much being there. He comes home singing songs that we've never heard before singing his ABCs and Counting1-20 he gets excited to sing a new song to us that he has learned. The teachers and staff are very welcoming and friendly. It's a very good feeling that your child is excited to go happy to see his friends and teachers. So far so good! My 3 month old has been enrolled for about a month. They seem to be doing a great job.

She just started in first grade/ 6 years old. i have been impressed at how happy she is. I go to pick her up and she is being kept busy and entertained. Staff have been super nice. Ms. Stephanie tries to keep us informed. She is involved with the children's day to day issues. Highly recommend their older kids program. Before & after school pick up by staff has never been a problem. She has gotten to school on time and after school pick up has been great, so I can go to work with peace of mind. Some small issues with getting billing fixed but nowhere near the trouble we had with the daycare at her school. (that daycare at her school- besides never cashing our checks in a timely manner, she was coming home complaining of bullying and boredom. she was also learning some 'great' new music lyrics & dance moves from older girls, that i wasn't really a fan of.) read more

When I first walked into this place I knew it was the right place for my daughter. The staff there is extremely professional in every way. The security there is enough to keep your mind at ease. My son loves coming to this wonderful nurturing daycare center that I shall recommend to anyone who asks... My son is in the Infant 2 room he smiles as soon as he enters the room and sometimes jumps into the arms of his primary caregiver. The room is always set up to meet the infants needs and is clean. The teachers are knowledgeable and answer any concerns I may have about my son's development. When they offered conferences I didn't feel the need to sign up due to the fact that the teachers always communicate with me and or my husband. Bright Horizons was not our option until my daughter had a whole week backup care over there. I was so impressed by the quality of their service to both kids and parents. Everyday, I spent sometime there with my daughter and observed their teaching skills. The teachers were so nice and patient to the kids and treated the kids with bad behavior properly. They have a lot of toys and games for kids to play with. Also the big yard with slides and swings provides kids a good area to explore. My daughter just loved it. So we transferred her over even though it's a little far from home. Also, I want to thank them for the new family party they hosted, which allowed me to know other new families so that we could setup play dates with each other. We felt so welcomed. My son has been attending Bright Horizons since he was 4 months old. The infant room has been lovely for him since day one. Yes, there is occasionally spit up on the floor, but it is always cleaned up promptly and disinfected- its an infant room after all, and infants spit up! The teachers have done nothing but inspire my confidence since day one that this is a good place- my son proves this by giggling every time we go in the door, and reaching for his teachers, anxious to get down and play! We are getting ready to transition into his next classroom, and he is already making friends in there and gets to visit nearly every day to become more familiar with the new routine, so it's not scary for him at all. I have dropped in unannounced many times and I never find things out of place. The classrooms are clean, the kids get their ands and faces washed frequently (like after every diaper change), and I have ALWAYS been welcomed in with open arms and encouraged to visit anytime. I hope when I have my next baby they can attend here as well! read more

My son started daycare at Bright Horizons at 7months of age. I was so nervous as to whether he will like it or not especially when I had no other options nearby. He got adjusted so quick and LOVED it. He has been there for 1.5 years and we are amazed as how happy he is and how well he is developing overall. They are very focused on developing the child's physical and mental abilities by natural play, and freedom to explore. My They also pay very good attention to the food they serve and provide veggies, milk and fruits with all meals. Very happy with our experience here. My daughter loves this daycare. Over the past year I have seen her develop and mature. She had always struggled playing with others and now she plays great with kids her age. Miss Megan is great my daughter loves her to death. She's kind and really easy to approach. You can tell she has a special place for everyone of her kids and shows it. They send out daily reports and picture of the kids. Which i find great i get a peak of what my daughter is doing and learning. I really recommend this day care. Our son went here for a little over two years and we loved everything about Bright Horizons! He started around 8 months in the infant room and moved through both the toddler and two's room before we relocated and left. He is a very sensitive and slow to warm kid and I'd have to say all of the teachers at Bright Horizons invested so much time and effort into helping him grow socially (and academically). Their program is amazing and really incorporates all components in a developmentally appropriate way. Now that we have moved and started a new daycare we keep comparing everything to Bright Horizons and it just doesn't meet the same expectations. My son was in their Two's program and became progressively unhappy with the daycare as time went on. The center director scolded me for picking him early one day after I called to find that he didn't have his breakfast and lunch. We stopped taking him there after the day we realized he skipped ALL three meals along with his afternoon nap and cried ALL day. The school did NOT bother to call me. They should NOT let little kids cry all day without letting the parents know. For an entire month afterward, my son refused to go outside the house - he was afraid we'd take him back to the daycare. The kids should be allowed to cry only 20 or 30 minutes the most when parents drop them at the daycare. The center seemed to only care about the money, not enough about kids and should NOT be in the childcare business. I would give zero star if there is such a choice read more

Horrendous!!!! (I wanted to rate this zero, but this tool wouldn't accept zero rating.) If I'd describe this center in one word, it is "horrendous". Parents, please read about this outrageous experience. I put my little 6 month baby in this center for a month. Like any parent would do, I randomly checked on my son often the first few weeks. I found him to be playing a couple of times, crying mostly, left alone in the crib once. Everyday the care provider always said "he had a great day". I still had my doubts and I kept visiting the center randomly. I walked in one afternoon and opened the door, I knew it was my baby that was screaming. I went to his crib where the sound seemed to come from, the caregiver didn't even see me come. She was very busy washing something at the sink although my son was screaming at the top of his voice. When I found him at the crib, I was trembling to see him covered with a blanket from toe up-to his head. I immediately took off the blanket and the crying stopped. This was only when the caregiver noticed me. To my shock, my son had his pacifier in his mouth and swaddled with two blankets. There is no way he could have pulled the bed-sheet by himself. Part of his hair was wet; I'm pretty sure that he must have been crying for the past few minutes. I was shaking with disbelief, asked the caregiver what all this was about. She said very carelessly that she didn't mean to do this. No human being would treat animals this way and this insane person had an excuse - she didn't mean to do it and she just wanted the baby to go to sleep. That's why she had pulled the bed-sheet up-to his eyes.How can one pull a bed-sheet above an infant's chest? You don't need any training to understand this, any normal person would not do this even by mistake. This was the last day of my son at this horrific daycare. They treated my innocent baby that doesn't even know to talk and express himself very insanely. I had migraine for days and I still get nightmares. I feel so guilty and have not stopped blaming myself for sending my little one to this daycare. But the center seemed okay and the caregivers seemed to be fairly enthusiastic at the first visit. I did not imagine that they'd treat my baby like this. We are shaken by the whole incident and want to let other parents know that they should not be misled by caregivers that simply are all smiles; and say that your baby had a great day everyday. They claim to follow NAEYC policies and get disclaimers signed from you, but the treatment my son got is not even excusable. We're very very unsettled by this event and want to let everyone know that the caregiver was not even fired. So parents, watch out!! read more

The Management is BAD, inconsiderate, unprofessional and insensitive. This center has a dummy Director. However, in reality, the center is (poorly) run by an Education Coordinator. Since the past few months, they made significant changes to their program. In December, we were notified that because of poor enrollment (I wonder why) the two sections were merged together, which meant that instead of two teachers for 15 children, there are 2 teachers for 24 children in one class. Then one of their preschool teachers left a few weeks ago and there was practically a new "substitute" teacher in the classroom daily. The BH weekly newsletter described strategies for helping children cope with care provider changes, however, none of these were actually implemented in the classroom. We told the director that we are not very comfortable working with the Education Coordinator, yet the Director insisted that we should contact her if we had any questions. The teachers themselves are good and competent, but the center itself has really gone down the hill since the new management started making highly irresponsible decisions without taking into consideration the interest of the children and parents. read more

Bright Horizons is great place. My children have been there for 5 years. They love coming here. The teachers listen to what we have to say and the Director helps solve any issues. Katherine always has her office door open and is available to talk. The center is warm and inviting and the teachers seem to enjoy their jobs. They are always smiling and saying hello as we walk to class. I feel comfortable having my children here with the security door codes and knowing that only parents and staff have codes. The curriculum is top notch and the teachers are well educated. Overall, this a great place to be. read more

I am very happy with Bright Horizons. They plan a lot of great activities for the children. The staff are cheerful and very helpful. If a problem does come up Katherine and Michelle always listen and come up with solutions. I am very happy with my son's teachers. I have two children at this center. They are both very happy and speak about their teachers and friends constantly. The center often has family functions which I totally enjoy. The atmosphere at the functions between the staff. children and parents is always fun and positive. My daughter has attended this center for almost 4 years now, since she was 5 months old. I was shocked to read Jennifer S's review of this center. After reading the review, I wondered if Jennifer S. intended to review another center and mistakenly placed her review here, because her review sounds so unlike the center my daughter attends. I can't imagine the center staff not calling a parent if their child was crying; I have been called many times to come and pick my daughter up when she has been sick or has hurt herself. And the very idea of the center director "scolding" anyone is ludicrous to me; the director is one of the most calm, even tempered people I've ever met. She is exactly the type of person who should direct a daycare program and she does it wonderfully. I am part of a parent partnership group for the daycare, so I have had a lot of interaction with the director, and she has never been anything but respectful, attentive, and kind to me and everyone else I've seen her interact with.
