I don't usually leave reviews but I feel the need to warn everyone to steer clear of this business. I went because they are in my insurance network and I needed to have work done before I start infusion therapy. The first visit was okay except for the way they positioned the plates for the X-rays as the plates cut into my gums They came back with a long list of "must do's." About $10K worth of them. One must do was two root canals. They don't have an endodontist on staff so they "looked for one for me that was in network." The refered me to one in Owings Mills. I live in Frederick. I looked for myself and found one in Gaithersburg. (He was amazing, by the way.) He gave me the instruction to follow up with Bright Now within two weeks. That was on 3/17/26 . I had already called and left the message with Bright Now about that first appointment. I tried calling Bright Now again and got the voicemail. I tried multiple times and just got the voicemail. No one returned my messages. On 3/31/26, I finally called Bright Now at opening time thinking they had to be able to answer the phone first thing in the morning. I did get an actual person who told me that the reason they couldn't answer the phone (and apparently not return calls) is because they are short staffed. Keep in mind that on my first visit there were at least three people behind the counter. They offered me a return date of APRIL 28! Way too late for the follow up. They also refused to allow me to go to the other office in Frederick. I understand continuity of care, but this is an exceptional occasion. If you can't provide timely care in one office, why can't another one do it? I tried to reach someone in corporate on line, but to no one's surprise, they don't have a customer service option. I called the only number available, which was of course a scheduling line. The first agent said he would put me on hold, but just put me back in queue and the line disconnected. I called back and got a nice young lady who at least listened to my complaint and said she would pass it on to her supervisor. I'm fairly certain it ended there. She did tell me that really the only way to file a complaint is in writing sent by USPS. She gave me the address and said to mark it "complaints." Bless her heart, I think she really believes it would get farther than the nearest trash can. Regardless, by the time any mail got to California from Maryland, and presuming that it actually does get read, by the time they get back to me, it will be too late. This is why people avoid dentists. read more

Went for my dad dental care since it was in network. First visit the one advertised as $69 exam and xray went good. Gave me a big list of things needed. Went for the periodontal cleaning and right side filing done for my dad. Not given an estimate. Kept on calling prior to the apts. keep on getting the answer have not gone a chance yet. Got an estimate from the insurance for $420 myself. Before services being performed requested estimate. I got out put on hold they said the doctor need to reevaluate for us to give an estimate. They performed the procedure and additional things done without consent. Applying some medicine for filing for $95 each. Doing additional bacterial laser service for $95 each. And forced me to pay for unasked services. Since their services are already rendered. Called about the experience on the bright now dental headquarters. Got an excuse they don't deal with this call the manager of the facility you went to. Called in the facility to get to talk to the manager and they mention this facility does not have manager. Made $892 bill of which we only agreed on $420 services. Be aware. They can perform services you did not ask for and force you to pay for them. The receptionist literally said don't reschedule them for anything till they clear the balance. I still end up paying what I came in for and refuse to pay something we did not consented. read more

This dentist is so bad they keep putting my braces brackets back on they don't use enough glue one of my brackets fell off right after the appointment was over. I went back in they didn't put the bracket back on just told me they'll put it on on the next appointment I didn't eat or drink anything after the appointment so idk why it would fall off in the first place. The care quality is bad they office reeks of chemicals and the mouthwash they make you use makes your mouth feel weird. The old guy that works there is always trying to clown on people. He's not funny at all and also his peers aren't good at there jobs. They stay in there talking and running there mouths but don't know how to do there jobs right. I've had braces done by them for over 3 years and they've mad no real improvement to my teeth. They keep putting me back on the original wires and don't tighten them at all. I went in for an exam today and was blown away by the service I received! From the receptionist, to the x-ray technician, the dental hygienist and also Dr. Mazin. Every single one of them were hands down fantastic. I wish I would have gotten the ladies' names because I was beyond impressed with their professionalism and caring manner. I've been here twice now, everyone I've interacted with at this location is super friendly and helpful. I saw Dr Mazin and both experiences were great. First was a check-up, second was fillings. I saw Dr. Mazan and two hygienists today for a basic cleaning as a new patient. They had me there for two hours which I thought was excessive but I assumed they were being thorough. Dr. Mazan and two hygienists both remarked that my teeth were unproblematic and well cared for. At the end of all this, instead of a cleaning I was given a bill estimate of $2,079 for "Deep gum cleaning". They explained that if I declined these unnecessary procedures, I'd be dropped as a patient. I asked if I could still have the basic cleaning I was there for, and they said sure but it can't be done today. When I went to schedule it with the receptionist, she said the first available cleaning appointment was 10 months out. BUT, if I paid the $2,079 and got the advanced procedures, I'd be seen immediately and it would include a cleaning. This is shameful. Bright Now's policies are HARMING patients. Extremely rude office staff. They made me an appointment, then two days prior to the appointment, they called to say that only the dentist who put a crown on my tooth could put it back on. Why did make the appointment with another doctor if they knew that. When they told me that I had to reschedule, they could tell I was not happy, and then said "I'm canceling the appointment, and when you calm down, you can call back for another." I was not upset, nor loud, simply muttering that this was ridiculous. This place is terrible! They don't care about you, they are sneaky, they lie, and I have been yelled at over the phone multiple times. The receptionist wouldn't even talk on the phone with my insurance company who was trying to explain that I only needed to pay 25% of the service that I actually in the first place told them I do not want but they did anyway( some gum scraping that cost $75) I was dumb and told the hygienist I don't want anything extra and crossed most of the paper off but I still signed it. Jenny at the front desk has been consistently rude every time I've come in. The dental service itself is otherwise adequate, but higher prices than others in the area, and less up-to-date facilities. Looking for a periodontist, so thought I would try this practice, even though the the reviews were poor. I called for an appointment and without a greeting, such as "how are you today" or "how can I help you today", the person on the phone asks curtly " what insurance do you have"? This was the first cue to me that this practice is more interested in money than the patient. I went along with the dry continued registration questions, but when she got into wanting the Insurance info, I decided this was not a fit for me. The hygienist and dentist were nice but they billing staff attempted to bill my insurance for cleaning/varnish procedures that had not been done. When I questioned the charge they insisted it had been done; when the hygienist said the procedure hadn't been done, they removed the charge and rescheduled me 10 days later for the cleaning/varnish. When I had the cleaning/varnish done they charged my insurance and charged me $30 for "perio maintenance". I'm pretty sure they're scamming insurance company (and me). I was referred to this office after the Buckeystown location was suddenly closed down. It was difficult to find the office because although I was in front of the office there was no visible address or sign which led me to drive around until I asked a lady if she knew where Bright Now Dental office was. She told me no, but that there was a dental office around the corner across from the business she had just left. Upon entering the office, I didn't see the front desk to the left of me because no one was there. I did see people directly down the hall in front of me, so that's where I went. When I approached the people at that desk, everyone looked at me like I stole something. The same front desk person from the Buckeystown location directed me to the correct reception area. One of the nurses from the Buckeystown location took me to the examining room, not once acknowledging me as someone she'd met and dealt with previously. When the doctor there was examining me, she noticed something that confused her and she asked me if the doctor that made the dentures knew she should have pulled the rest of my lower teeth in the front so the dentures would have fitted properly. I asked her how was supposed to know what the other doctor knew, I said I'm not a dentist so why would I know what she should have known to do. This doctor told me she couldn't help me and referred me to another dentist to do the repairs. I was not pleased with the way I was treated at this office either. Back in again for another crown, this time, on of my upper right #2 molar. Dr. Mark Mazin of Brite Now Dental group, discovered a crack in it during my last check-up and will try saving the tooth by removing the old filling and decay. He then bonded the crack and will cap the tooth with a palladium/silver full crown, rather than going to more extreme measures (root canal or removal) if at all possible. I really appreciate the fact he's trying to save a live and viable tooth! I have complete trust in Dr. Mazin, as the last palladium crown he installed (2012), has held up perfectly. Dr. Mazin is a methodical dentist who took his time throughout the entire procedure. He also made sure I was well "juiced" with numbing agent before any drilling. I've had some dentist shoot me up with Novocaine and immediately start right in, not giving enough time for the anesthesia to take hold. Not Dr. Mazin. Dr. Mazin, a good guy and an excellent dentist--you'll be glad you went to see him--I know I am. If you want a warm and fuzzy experience, watch an episode of Dr. Phill or go to a petting zoo. If you want excellent dental care, with a dry sense of humor, see Dr. Mazin. The rest of the staff is also outstanding. The hygienist and office staff do their best to make each visit as pleasant as possible. Everyone was nice and accomodating at first, including receptionists and assistants. Even the dentist himself seemed helpful as well. I do not have dental insurance but everything on their website and even what they say when you come in was that they are willing to work with you if that is the case. The problems started when I was given a $25,000 plan of action, I told the lady in charge of explaining this to patients that that is twice what my car was new. She seemed taken aback that I did not have 25k ready to give them. I said thats more than a down-payment on a house to which she just said yeah and I said yeah back and forth several times. Then she finished with the most unprofessional questions I've ever been asked in a medical setting in my life, she asked "well do you like to eat?". Thats completely unnecessary and rude. I knew at that point that I would not be receiving any help from this place and will have to figure out another plan. I would say avoid this place at all costs, especially if you don't have insurance. To be clear my teeth are in bad shape, I fully expect to be paying thousands of dollars to get the situation handled (expecting anyone to pay 25k is excessive though in my opinion). Also to be clear I have never written a review (good or bad) for any company ever in my life but as what she said sank in on my drive home I thought I had to at least do something. I've been a patient for a number of years. It is refreshing to go to any medical practice and feel like you are welcomed and visiting old friends that care. Dr. Mazin is AMAZING, and he always explains the procedures and why they are necessary. The office doesn't force unnecessary work on you, but they are good about alerting you of future issues to plan on. For me, this was a recent crown replacement where the margin was breaking down and beginning to have decay. While it wasn't urgent, Dr. Mazin advised me that it should probably be taken care of with in the next six months. It was good to have the planning time! I usually have the same dental hygienist when visiting for cleanings. I like this consistency in staffing, and it is like visiting with an old friend and catching up on family happenings. I do not recommend this dentist. I went to get full x-rays taken and have a painful tooth examined. They completed the x-rays and provided me a treatment plan that included several things that needed to be done, including a root canal and crown replacement. I decided to get a second opinion. The second dentist had to re-take a couple of x-rays because the whole tooth was not seen in the x-rays Bright Now! originally took. Based on the new x-rays, I didn't need a root canal or the crown replacement. They also have a dental savings plan that you can join. Once they provided me the cost for each treatment, I asked if they could provide what the cost would be if I joined the program. They informed me that I had to sign up and pay the annual fee first before they would they provide me this information. From my experience, they push services that aren't needed, and their prices are significantly higher than other dentists. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before allowing my wife to go there. First let me start by staying my wife has anxiety and dreads going to dentist because she has been taken advance of by previous dentist. The appointment process was easy. Finding the location was a bit complicated. My wife was asked to come back to the chair and ex-rays were taken. The assistance could see that my wife was nervous; and told her *we don't do screaming in here*. That is NOT the way to calm a nervious patient. After the x-rays were taken, a hygenist came into the space and said her name and said she needed to look at the health of my wife's gums. The hygenist didn't explain what she would be doing or why she was doing it. Again, not the way to calm a nervious patient. The hygentist called out numbers which was ramdon. When she was finished she told my wife she should brush and floss her teeth more regular. Not once did she ask how many times my wife brushed or flossed her teeth. Then the dentist came in - said his name (never did he introduce himself or shake my wife's hand or even look at my wife) and proceeded to tell my wife she had advanced gum disease. His recommendation was a deep-scaling that would take 4-6 visits at a cost of $580+. They then pressured my wife into signing a document saying that she would be charged for this work. My wife told them multiple times she was not comfortable signing the document but was told repeatibly that her signature ment that she has received the document even though the document clearly said my wife would be responsible for the cost. Needless to say my wife left the office very upset. I encouraged her to go back into the office and ask for a copy of the document and ensure they list we would not be responsible for their recommendated treatment plan. I was on the phone with my wife when she went back into the office. In a condosending tone the front desk said to my wife *do you need me to call someone for you this document doesn't mean you have to pay anything*. When my wife got home her treatment included a cancer screening (even though she has zero history of oral cancer or any family members with oral cancer; cost for sedation; cost for equipment; cost for 6 visits; cost for xrays. Cost, cost, cost. This isn't a practice for oral health; its there for upcharging and selling items that is not neccessary. I am actively searching for a new dentist. I would not recommend this practice to anyone, just stay away. read more

I moved to Frederick so decided to switch dentists. I picked this one because of its location. Not only do they take an excessive amount of radiographs, you don't even get a cleaning. I have a feeling it was because their half day Friday hygienist needed to start her weekend. Then they give me a huge estimate for a deep cleaning. Mind you I've never missed a cleaning and what not in years except this spring due to a complicated sell/buy move, and always have a good appointment. Nothing has changed, no problems, but this time....they manage to find all kinds of stuff to justify $500 of stuff with insurance. I felt like they saw a bank vault walk in the door. Terrible place! I wish I'd read the reviews before hand. The dentist is one of the rudest I've ever met and they push the add-ons hard (teeth whitening, oral cancer screening, etc). If you can't make an appt it is a 4-6 month wait to get you in again. Which is kind of funny since they told me I needed to come in every 3-4 months for treatment my previous dentist never told me I needed. The professionalism in this office is the worst I have seen in any other office. I was promised amazing dental work. I was told my teeth would finally be fixed. When asked about payment, I was told by the receptionist and dentist not to worry that they would work with me. There are signs in the office that say that they will work with you. Come back for a lengthy appointment and was asked for a payment of almost $4000 out of pocket that day. When told that I wouldn't be able to pay that I was essentially dismissed. I then scheduled for the next day for 1 tooth after being told that I would need $170 out of pocket. When I showed up for my appointment, I then was told it would be almost $800 out of pocket. After being misquoted on cost once again, I walked out. So after 3 appointments, I still have had no work done due to their exorbitant cost and callous attitudes. I was passed from one employee to the next and never given a straight answer. Make no mistake this is a business, not worried about your care. I expected a cleaning by a hygienist on my first visit since that is what I made the appointment for. I had to sign a form at the initial visit which stated if the dentist found any dental issues I would not receive the cleaning. The hygienist did a very bad exam, took X-rays, and the dentist followed up with a more thorough exam. He was dour faced and unpleasant and told men I had gum disease and need to see their in-house periodontist at my expense before any further services would be provided. I still intended to see my long time dentist who provides excellent but expensive care for any other services except a couple cleanings a year under my dental insurance. I refused the periodontist and was refused cleanings, charged a copay of $29. Huh? My insurance had no copay. The receptionist gave me the cost list for the periodontist and was so intensely rude that I think my face reddened. I got a useless humiliating visit at a dental office in Frederick and later I got a bill from them for the service over $100 since my insurance covered nothing. I will not renew Humana dental insurance and will stick with my original dentist's office. My conclusion was that this dentist's office uses a coupon to get you into their office for the initial visit then sends you to their in-house specialist for expensive treatments which will cost you thousands and makes a profit. read more

I rencenly just moved to Frederick and trying to schedule a routine cleaning with new dentist. Before I move, I had my teeth cleaning done two a year at a clinic in Bowie, MD and had the same insurance plan for years. Last time when I had my routine cleaning in previous clinic six month ago, I only need to pay $30 co-pay for preventative cares. So I was shocked when the people here told me I need to pay $84 for X ray and $680 for cleaning! I went to front desk ask them politely to check with my insurance and explain to me when there is such a huge difference. The women there didn't even want to explain and told me that is how my insurance is. Then I ask if I can pay $30 co-pay for today and I'll go back to check with insurance why I need to pay for the rest of the list? The women rolled her eyes at me and said I don't care if you don't pay it will go to collection company! This is by far the WORST dentist office ever! You wait 5-10 mins on hold to make an appt. We just received a call from a collection agency that we were sent to collections even though we never received a bill. Why is that? Because they were being sent to an address from six years ago! We have updated forms every time we go in. The dentist there a 40ish guy with balding hair has the WORST personality and is not friendly at all. I have horrible tooth recession and he isn't gentle at all to check after I had my teeth cleaned. My husband had scaling done and we didn't know until we were with our current dentist that he could of be numbed for the procedure. It was never offered to him. My wife went and had a long wait after X-rays to see the dentist. Two weeks later, I went and left after waiting almost an hour to see the dentist after getting X-rays before leaving without seeing the dentist. I'm done with this place. Horrible service unless you are the first appointment of the day. The x-ray tech was quick, efficient, and nice. I have been going to Brightnow dental for several years. I no longer have dental insurance and have been putting off treatment until I recently broke my tooth. The office gave me a discount for my crown as well as a coupon to help off set the cost. All I can say is WOW!!! I was also able to finance my work with no interest. I cannot thank them enough!! However, I received X-rays and gum measurements in an hour and a half. I asked about my cleaning and the hygienist said she did not have time. The assistant said you can come back at 12:30pm. No, I took off to get what I needed this morning. Then I was asked to come in tomorrow. First impressions are everything, from the start I was not impressed. This is unbelievable. I cannot make this shit up. Be warned: DO NOT use this facility or trust Mark Mazin. They are out to take advantage of people and as a medical professional myself I cannot believe how disgraceful their actions have been. My husband came in for a workup; he has a fear of dentists and wasn't given proper dental care as a child (clearly not his fault) so his oral condition isn't the best. We got a workup and they said his previous root canal had rotted to the bone, and he needed either a bridge or a implant after a total tooth extraction and bone graft. They also said this was EMERGENT and he needed it NOW. They ALSO said this was NEVER covered by insurance, and if we were to do an implant it would be 7000$ out of pocket. Well, out of pure happenstance my husband had to be traveling so we had to put this on the back burner. He has periodontal disease as well, so we found a different dentist out of state where he could at least get his periodontal cleaning done on time. They also did a workup, and guess what? They said he had no such root canal issue. Their main concern was his periodontal disease. As you can imagine we were both very confused and frustrated by this point. How could a "medical" professional be SO drastically wrong about something that would cost us 7000$ out of pocket? I decided, fuck it, we are getting a completely different dentist cause I don't trust this guy. We call my insurance company to get a new dentist in network, and another bomb is dropped. WE ARE in fact covered for dental implants after a 12 month waiting period. They DARED to say they were never covered? Are you kidding me?? I am, well was a patient at the Frederick office, had dental work done and was told that I needed a root canal 2017, due to the expense I could not get it done, but I continued to come in for cleanings in 2018, until I began to get pain in that area. I walked into the office in around December 19, 2018 with pain explained to the front desk, that I was in pain and would like to schedule the Root Canal. Front desk informed me they no longer have an Endodontist, and that I would have to find an Endodontist. I was in pain, but the front desk did not say "hey you need an appointment to see the Dentist" The Front desk told me "I had to find an Endodontist because we no longer have one here." The front desk did not say hey you need a referral, they did not say we will schedule an appointment to see the Dentist so that I can get a referral. The front desk told me "I had to find an Endodontist" I find an Endodontist and the Front desk refuses to give me the referral. They said, "they are not allowed to give a referral without seeing the dentist." Why was I not told this at the time when I was in pain, why was I not told I needed a referral, why was I not given an appointment for my pain, so that I can get a referral, why was I told I had to find an Endodontist and then not given a referral. Why now the Front desk instead of resolving their mistake of misguiding a patient, and resolving the issue then elects to eject me from the office and call the police. Is this how customer service issues are avoided so no resolution or admittance of wrongful doing is made. I premise my review with this information: I purchased the cheapest dental insurance I could find (Dominion National). This was the ONLY dentist in the area that took my insurance. After scheduling and waiting 3 months, I finally get to my appointment for what I thought was going to be my routine cleaning. I was asked to sign several pages of waivers and disclaimers (1st red flag). I was told I would not be able to get my cleaning done without x-rays (2nd r d flag). The technician took like 20 X-rays! (I hope I don't get cancer!) I don't think she knew what she was doing...or maybe it was the fact that other staff kept interrupting her throughout my procedure. Then, they bring in a snooty dental hygienist to do a periodontal exam. Followed by a SHORT visit with the dentist. After all this song and dance, and one hour in the office, I was told I couldn't get my teeth cleaned! They blamed their scheduling center for not explaining their processes. So I made my follow up appointment for cleaning with the rude, sour receptionist. And now I am at another two months of waiting for cleaning. I go in for my cleaning, and they try to sell me a bunch of other services. Again, I was asked to sign waivers for declining the services. All along, the clock is ticking again, and I'm afraid I won't get my teeth cleaned. I did, but the hygienist only spent 10 minutes total on my cleaning. I was charged $29 even though my insurance does not require a co-pay. When I inquired as to why, I got the 'This is our process' speech again. Later, my insurance sent me a bill for close to $200! In the end the insurance paid. I have never had this much problem with insurance or dentist office. I got the distinct impression these are bunch of shysters trying to sell you up.
