I love this place. I was surprised how few basic hot dog establishments there are in Pittsburgh and this is one of my favorites! I love that there is both dine in and drive through. The menu is basic, but should include something for everyone. Hot dogs, burgers, fish, fries and soup. You can customize your dogs with a variety of styles. They also have combo meals which are a really great deal for all the food that you get. My go to order is combo one which is two hot dogs, fries and a drink. With tax it comes to around $11. Everything is made to order and always fresh. My kids both love their chili and soup (they almost always have italian wedding available). They also have really tasty milkshakes. Service is friendly and efficient (even when you have random customizations like having your hot dog on top of your fries instead of on the bun). The inside is basic (what more do you need from a hot dog joint) and also very clean every time I've been there. A great place for a quick and affordable bite. read more

December 21, snowing out on a Saturday for lunch. First time here. A customer in front of me said the chili dog and cheeseburger is good so I went with that. Chili cheese dog with onion for $2.30. Perfect dog and very tasty. Cheeseburger with toppings is $4.70. Not a giant patty and that's what I expected, very good too! Friendly staff and place is a old Burger King from 30 years ago. Old-school establishment. Inside has not been updated maybe ever, but it has vintage charm. The workers were pretty friendly. Ordered some chili dogs with onions and fries. The hotdogs were good and the buns were soft. Chili lacked flavor overall, so next time I'd probably do sauerkraut. Hand cut fries. This place is exactly what you'd expect. The one on Noblestown Road has great chili cheeseburgers and fries. However, the hotdogs are cheap and gross. The pop is usually flat. The building is rundown and doesn't seem very clean. Their food is wonderful and inexpensive. The people are wonderfully nice. And it feels like you stepped back in time when the restaurant scene was welcoming and original. It's a wonderful sit-down restaurant and I loved the atmosphere. Ive been to four different Hot Dog Shoppes. This one just seems a little dated/dirty to me. My family stopped in for lunch one day. We had a combination of burgers and hot dogs with two large fries. Service was friendly, however I did have difficult finding readily available condiments. You can't beat the price point here either. I remember when this building was a Burger King and honestly I don't think much has changed since the switch. I really would like to try breakfast here. You can't beat the price and quality of breakfast here. I sometimes go in here alone for breakfast just to have some alone time. My most recent visit I was greeted by a younger gentleman. I didn't get his name but he provided great service. French toast was light and fluffy and sausage was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my time here. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the owner. She was quite pleasant and offered a really big and genuine smile. I sat down and was offered a menu. The menu wasn't very large and I liked that. It was a true mom and pop spot and that was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, and sausage links. I figured I'd have to wait a little while for my food. It appeared to be the neighborhood restaurant and it was packed with regulars. The staff knew just about everyone by name. My food came out piping hot and it was delicious. Not over seasoned and the eggs were just the way I liked them. This is a great home-style restaurant and if you want a delicious home cooked meal, this is the place to go. I'll be visiting in the morning for my final meal in Pittsburgh. read more

My sister and I saw reviews for this place, and based on the reviews we thought this would be an awesome experience! Yes, the food is cheap, it's a *fast food* hot dog and burger restaurant. Is the quality better than 5 guys? Questionable. The fries are totally better than 5 guys, I'll give them that. We ordered our food through the drive thru, turned the corner to get to the window and saw a rat trap right in plain view. Not exactly a good start. That made us want to just drive right past the drive thru window, but we chose to give it a shot anyway. My burger was decent, and like I said the fries were crunchy and fresh. Our total came to $14, just like it would have at Burger King or any other fast food place. Would I go back? I wasn't sure what to make of this place when I first spotted it, but I was in the area needing a quick lunch and decided to give it a try. They offer a drive-thru with fast and extremely friendly service, and the inside appears to have a decent amount of space if you wanted to dine-in. I got two hot dogs (one with chili) and fries. One of the better Brighton Hot Dog locations, but still pretty unremarkable overall. Everything is 'good enough' at most locations I have visited, but no signature items like awesome coney sauce. The closest they come is the cheese sauce for the fries at the Noblestown location which has parmesan mixed in...just a little overpowering, but at least it's warm, unlike the Rochester location that pours it over the fries cold. The fries do warm it, but if you want cheese on the side, you're out of luck.. I asked once if they could warm it up, and the kid looked at me like I was crazy. Consistency is important...so is uniqueness, and the dogs here are ho-hum. An M+P franchise or two in Beaver County would up the game a bit, I'm thinkin'. read more

Come on, 4 hot dogs, a large French fry and two drinks for $10?! What else can you ask for? Old school diner feel (reminds me of Coney Island back home) with steamed straight from the bag rolls, simple toppings, and shoe string fries. No fancy gourmet things here and absolutely delicious. I was really excited about this place because I love diners and mom and pop shops. We grabbed a seat, and I ordered cheese fries (yum! oh wow) and my friend ordered a cheeseburger and chili fries. The waitress was very nice, but she wasn't very knowledgable with the very simple menu and somehow managed to mess up our order. My friend asked for chili fries, and they came out sans chili. He also asked if the toppings on the burger would cost extra. She said "Um, I don't know sorry," and then stood there and waited for us to order, not asking or checking or anything. I said "they're free... it says it right on the menu..." Super weird! But it totally has its charm, and getting an order of fries wrong somehow seems to compliment the charm of a quaint hot dog diner. The owner or manager at the check out was super friendly, and they let us put the tiny bill on a card without complaints. This is a nice place to go if you're in the mood for a simple burger, hot dog and fries. The burgers are made to order and the ingredients seem very fresh. The hot dogs remind me of grade school (yeah--too many years ago--I'm THAT OLD!)--plain in a steamed bun and you can add your choice of toppings including chili and kraut. Very inexpensive, clean and orderly. Employees seem very nice and courteous! And most of all--TASTY food! The fries--did I mention the fries?! Fresh cut, freshly cooked and sooooo good!!! So the best part about this place is definitely the Prices. If you're looking for a cheap quick meal and are tired of the typical fast food joints, the hot dog shoppe is worth a try, but don't expect to be amazed. Nothing on the menu really jumps out. I like the wedding soup, but it's probably canned, hot dogs are hard to screw up, and the burgers are reminiscent of a school cafeteria lunch item.
