We haven't been here in a while, and I was craving a cheesesteak sub. We debated between here and the new Jersey Mike's down the street (which we've yet to try) but Penn Station won out because they have fries and chips, where Jersey Mike's only has chips. They both serve Pepsi products, so if you're a Coca Cola fan (like we are), know that going in there. But the kiddo wanted fries, so Penn Station won out. The sub was awesome. It was freshly made to order and hot. The fries were also made to order and hot. The food was restaurant-quality hot, not fast-food-quality hot. I was going to take half of the sub home to reheat later in the day, but it was so good that I ate it all and left feeling miserable (but a good miserable). We were out in Monroeville for some errands and needed to order lunch so we thought we'd check this place out. They have an online ordering system that works great up until you pay. Then, things go sideways. We were just not sure if the payment/order went through. It kept erroring out but it seemed like it took the payment. Super frustrating. So we called and were placed on hold for 10 minutes. Granted it was around 11:45AM so prime lunch rush but no one wants to be put on hold for 10 minutes. We hung up and called back and before he could say, mind holding?, I blurted out what our issue was. Sure enough, the order had gone through! We picked everything up and took it home to eat. Their cheesesteak hoagies are jammed full of meat and we got onions, peppers and mushrooms and provolone cheese. My main beef here (no pun intended) is that these have so much meat, the hoagie is SCREAMING for balance like tomatoes and lettuce or something. It's almost too meaty? I mean, I love meat on my cheesesteak but it needs something. Same thing on the Italian Hoagie - a ton of delicious meat but not enough balance. Their hoagie loaves are the perfect size and not too bready. Their fries were decent but we seemed to get a lot of skinny "ends" of the potatoes and not many thicker fries. But they were tasty for sure. Everyone that works there was super friendly and helpful once we got through and picked up the order. I'm adding a star for that. read more

The cheesesteaks were awful because they grilled onions were soaked in grease, the bread was soggy and saturated with grease to the point you could not even pick up the 6 inch sandwich. You needed a fork to try to eat it. Absolutely unsatisfactory. 2 small steak sandwiches at 7.29 equals $ 14.58. Then they charged a $ .40 donation to round the bill up and didn't even ask. The one down side to this place is that the cost adds up quickly. And while delicious, it makes me wonder if it really is worth the cost. The menu offers a variety of sandwich options, hot or cold, in a variety of sizes. You can add on fries, chips, cookies and drinks. I tend to order the Philly. There is a nice amount of meat and the roll is generally toasted perfectly. The fries are fresh cut and delicious. Cooked to the perfect crispness. But they are expensive. I'm not ever one to leave a review and we used to eat here all the time, but the last few times we've gone it's been a bad experience. Our order is so simple: one cheesesteak with just steak and cheese, and another cheesesteak with banana peppers, lettuce, and tomato. Without fail, they have put lettuce and tomatoes on the wrong hoagie the last 3 visits. And since they chop and mix the peppers into the steak it's not easy to make it right yourself. We always take it to go so we never notice til we get all the way home. This visit they also had pretty vulgar (and depressing) rap playing. I love music but this was LOUD on the speaker and they were picking up mats and acting like they were closing and the only ones there at 6:30pm? I took home a menu to look over and I am curious to try out the grilled artichoke sub the next time I stop in. They were a little busy but when I ordered I wasn't asked for here or take out so my food came in a bag. The sandwich was dry and quickly thrown together. One chopped piece of onion no vegetables and extremely dry. The downtown location isn't bad but this Monroeville location I will never visit again and do not recommend it. My favorite sub place. I get the cheese steak with American cheese, onions, mushrooms, mild pepper rings, Mayo on the multigrain bun. The American cheese is what makes this sandwich amazing. The multigrain bun has a nice outer crust and so soft inside. I'm not a big bread fan but omg is it yummy. Most places I tear away the biggest part of the bun but not here. I am giving them a four instead of a five because you have to order extra cheese, onion mushroom and meat to make the sandwich really good. First timer at Penn Station East Coast Subs in Monroeville PA, (25 min drive). I ordered a steak hoagie and a large fry. The steak hoagie is the quality of a 5 dollar Speedway hoagie. Sloppy soaked hoagie bun with next to zero flavored "steak". The large fry had about a one inch gap from the top of the container to the start of the fries (not full) and the fries themselves are the "bottom of the fryer basket" fries that aren't supposed to be served. See attached photo. The three of us who all ordered a side of fries had the same issue with the fries. Their fresh squeezed lemonade was the best part of the whole experience. Zero accountability and lack of concern for quality or order accuracy. I've been going to this location for a few years and have never seen the same employee twice. The high turnover contributes to the abysmal service. Tonight one of the employees gleefully told me "It's my last day, so *shrugs*" Let's dive into the most recent visit: I enter the store, briefly glancing at the menu before looking at the lone employee. I shift closer and closer to the employee's sightline and he finally acknowledges my presence and asks: "Do you know what you want?" I slowly give my order, pausing after each sandwich. He mumbles something about "cash out at the end", so I wait by the register. Two other employees arrive in the meantime (one cleaning up the store, who comes from the back, and a woman who comes through the front door). The woman immediately takes the register, accepting my payment. She begins touching things in the prep area WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS, and flits into the back room. The young man that was cleaning,takes over the completion of my order, while the person who took my order left to smoke outside. I was short a fry, and when I brought it to the employee's attention, he stated: "I wondered why he made so many fries." I get home, confident that my order will be correct after spending $40 and 15 minutes in store. I asked for no cheese on the sandwich. The ticket read "No cheese". So why was my sandwich so packed with cheese that I couldn't open it? I immediately call the store, requesting the general manager's number. They refuse, but give and email address. I email the GM, to give him a heads up that I am dissatisfied. I drive all the way back to the store, with the screwed up sub and the rest of the food that was cold. My husband asks to speak to the manager, and the guy that messed up the sandwich says "I am the manager". My husband asks for the sandwich to be corrected and to exchange the cold food for hot food. The 'manager' takes the sub THAT HE MESSED UP TO BEGIN WITH and refuses to replace the cold food. My husband asks for the number for corporate... they waste his time by giving the store number instead. Someone must have contacted the GM in the meantime, because he calls to also refuse that the order be remade hot and fresh. The GM gives the ok for the other sandwiches to be remade, so we wait for those. We left with hot sandwiches and cold fries, wasted time, and wasted money. TL:DR Don't waste your time at this Penn Station location. They will mess up your food, give you the runaround, and leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. read more

Me and my wife stopped by to get dinner on a Sunday night. The place was empty. We were promptly greeted and our orders received. I got a call Philly cheesesteak with extra meat and my wife got a grilled veggie sandwich. The food took like 10-15 minutes to come out. My sandwich was really amazing and the steak tasted so good.
