The staff was and is so caring and very personable. Everyone was covered head to toe in PPE to keep the virus from spreading! They took all precautions and assigned management/staff to visit each resident daily to help with isolation.They even had video calls with families so that we could at least try to visit and check in with our loved ones who we could not visit. A wonderful associate saved my Mom who lost interest in life (stopped eating!) as she was isolated during the height of the virus in the Spring 2020. This wonderful associate coaxed her to eat her favorite foods and she got back to herself. It was serious, hospice was called in because of her lack of will to go on. We owe it to her and the management and staff who were so dedicated to the residents. The Executive Director even moved in to be there around the clock! The COVID restrictions were relaxed when safe, during summer and fall. But the staff also noticed my Mom had declined terribly. She was lost a lot and struggling. We approved Mom to be moved to memory care and she adjusted quite well. She is thriving in the environment for those with issues with memory and needing extra care. She is very happy and safe. The management and staff are cautious now about COVID's high and low rates. They apply the COVID rules to keep the residents safe (masks, visitations, and such). Residents and staff got their second shots in Feb. 2021 and now we feel so much better. Thank you Pearl Street for taking care of our loved ones so well.

It was hard to watch my mother decline in health, but the care she got, as well as us as a family, was so kind, and thorough. Mom was always cleaned, turned and repositioned when we arrived to visit, or she was out talking to patients and staff when she was feeling up to it. The facility is very clean, you always see people washing floors and walls, and never get an odor like some other facilities we have been in. The staff was knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile to help us.

They walk into the room unannounced and don't knock consistently. It is a clean room but the workers here are for the most part terrible and forget to do there job. They also do not take the trash out of his room. There rooms are nice but not very clean and the people that work there do not do anything to clean the rooms. They don't take my grandfather out of his room for activities or anything special he sits in his room and does nothing.

The ambiance is one of a Victorian mansion with pretty landscaping, porches, rocking chairs and pretty grounds to wander. The interior is warm with use of dark and medium woods, a grand staircase plus amenities such as a pub, dining room, lounging areas to socialize, exercise/tv room. It makes for a good impression during a site visit. The sales pitch is very good as you are told what you want to hear in how well your aging parent(s) will be taken cared of. The reality is a different story. The food is almost unpalatable and if you complain it falls on deaf ears. Actually deaf ears is what this location does best. The rooms are comfortable but every member of the staff has a key to get in but there is not method of tracking who enters the room and at what time. This is important since theft occurs and since there is no way to track who enters your room and when, the staff get away with it. The staff must be low paid and basically look at their job as a j-o-b with very little passion for what they are doing. My mother had her laundry done and it is supposed to be folded for her but on more than one occasion, the staff simply dumped it on her bed and left. I have visited her on a number of occasions and found her door literally open to the hallway with anyone having easy access to get in. Security is a joke as anyone can walk in, get on the elevators and do whatever. When a resident complains the staff, including the directors and managers, treat them as old people who don't know what theyre talking about. This place is simply not the best choice for assisted living. They romance you with the facility and tell you what you want to hear but living here is a different matter. We moved my mother out of here to another facility that really has their act together and she has never been happier.

And if they do, good luck finding someone who can intelligently answer your question. The employees barely speak English! The aids, while very nice and many sincere and competent, are underpaid and consistently abused by the company. And sadly, about half of them, don't show up when you are counting on them. Missing hours, late paychecks, promises to pay mileage when they actually don't, no benefits, and a tyrannical office manager who is only on premise about 5 to 6 hours per week. The owners are gold diggers who are taking advantage of seniors and the current service void in senior care. This is exactly the kind of company that YELP and the Better Business Bureau were designed to protect you from. I do not recommend you work for them. Employees last less than a year there. I do not recommend that you trust your cherished family member to their care. They will end up in the hospital... or worse. And if you are a vendor of any kind, do yourself a favor and cut your ties now before they end up owing you whole lot (more!) money. And you know exactly what I'm talking about because they probably owe you a lot of money...right now. This company will disappoint you on every level and they will do it consistently. My…read moregut knew better than to trust the dead-eyed, California transplant, former car salesman who talked to people without looking them in their eye, staring just over the top of their head with the rehearsed caring tone of someone possessing empathy, but when your mom with dementia starts wandering, you hope that you're the problem and too suspicious of everybody. Often with very little sleep from partying with "the ladies," he would repeatedly suggest one plan only to switch gears midway then start another. I was open to the chaos if it worked. After all, I warned them about my mom's preexisting conditions that could make her more challenging than their average dementia patients, was transparent about her financial status and clear about what I was looking for. I had cared for my Mom since the nineties and physically could not continue to do so. Later Shah would call me then get annoyed if I asked clarifying follow-up questions, I hoped that he was just a young guy who had more confidence than skills to back it up and compensating with curtness. I eventually lost my patience when he suggested that my Mom move two more times after her admission--to Windrose at Weymouth then Prospect House in Chelsea. HallKeen runs both facilities and Google WGBH & Prospect House for more on that facility, which was uncommunicative with their Windrose at Woburn colleagues during the selection process. There are flat fees in the thousands with every move. He even managed to confuse me with my Mom in one written exchange though our names are not similar and presumably he saw my Mom and spoke to her each day. It was only later after the ordeal was over that the Ombudsman revealed that Shah's suggestions that I do not visit my Mom so she could acclimate is considered a retro, potentially psychologically abusive treatment. With that said, there were plenty of well-intentioned, kind people who were also unintentionally psychologically harmful. Windrose reassured me that they would do a full psych eval of my Mom when she was admitted in April. I also repeatedly told them to call her prior psych nurse before he retired. After repeatedly calling me and asking me what they should do, they only admitted in June that they never did either. By then, my Mom's psychological condition deteriorated compared to the person that I took care of. She started refusing to dress and apparently walked around naked. While getting her to dress in anything other than sleep apparel was a challenge at home, she was fully clothed. Still Windrose at Woburn deserves some credit. Mom danced and sang while there and had numerous happy moments, most of which Windrose never officially disclosed except once. After admission, Shah only sent me one video of my Mom and a video of his favorite four residents without my Mom, which seemed random. When my Mom was moving out, other employees were kind enough to share their warm memories of Mom, including photos and videos that I would treasure. I have no idea why Windrose at Woburn would not officially want credit when they did a good job. Is it because they did not want proof that my Mom was always fine so when she would later precipitously decline, I would have no proof that it was unusual? I hope not. I believe that many people at Windrose at Woburn had my Mom's best interest at heart, but they did not know how to handle her. When you're paying $8950.00 per month, well-intentioned is not good enough. The Windrose way is to overpromise and underdeliver, and while only God knows a man's heart, the subsequent transfer to Windrose at Weymouth seemed to confirm that the goal was to drain my mother of her life savings before they had a valid excuse to get her out and not permit her to return even with additional assistance just when the money ran out.
