They are consistent and the food is always fresh and full of flavor. They give you a lot of shrimp! Prices can be a little expensive but the food portion is great. Better than average breakfast, but only slightly better than any national chain. I ordered "The Beast" omelette, cause I'm all about them meats, wife ordered Chesapeake benedict, and family ordered scrambles and Benedict's as well. Sometimes I rate a restaurant by the forget-ability of their foods, overall Brigs was pretty forgettable.. I'd rate my omelette as a 3/5, it had all the necessary components but lacked any special characteristics to draw me back to the restaurant another day to order that specific thing again. The home fries, are cubed seasoned potatoes and had a very potent onion flavor, me not being a big onion fan I gave them a few bites and left them. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals so maybe my selection just wasn't the best Brigs has to offer. Overall Brigs is a good chain alternative, I would return to give their other menu items a try -waffles, French toast, pancakes, etc as no one in my party ordered them. read more

Today is my birthday, and I decided to treat myself to a French toast combo with pork sausage patties and scrambled eggs with cheese, at the Briggs restaurant in Durham. The order came to $13.96 and I gave them a three dollar tip. When I got home, the sausage patties were burnt and dried out and the scrambled eggs had so much cheese that it looked like a glob of greesy cheese on top of the eggs. I drove back to Briggs and asked for my money back. They have this policy where they will not refund your money. The manager asked if I wanted them to make the meal over, and you can guess what I said. We all know what happens when you return food as an unsatisfied customer. So basically I paid for a disgusting breakfast on my birthday that I could not eat. The manager even had the nerve to say I should have checked my food before I left. No, if I pay for food it should be prepared to be edible. I will never patronize this restaurant again, and I would not encourage anyone else to purchase food from their establishment. read more

Industry worker here! Ive been serving and bartending for over 10 years and I will never understand bad service, really bad at this place, I think they were under staffed. I decided to take my friend who drove in from out of town to Brigs at the park for breakfast and what a mistake that was! Our server took our order and that's about it, she never checked back after we got our food, my friends eggs were wrong but we couldn't fix the issue because our server was no where to be found, every single one of us (party of 4) needed drink refills half way into our meal and we never got those either, we finally stood up to pay and she rushed over with the bill saying "sorry I got busy" ok?? Too busy to check on one of your tables? Ask for help? I just don't get it, we work for tips in this industry, tips that are received from properly serving guests, I just want to make management aware of this issue so they can properly staff and set them up for success next time. Brigs is a solid choice, especially for breakfast. The parking lot is huge, the hosts always give you a fair and accurate estimate as to how long your wait is going to be, and the servers are super helpful and friendly. Most importantly, the food is great! I have always enjoyed their Royal Skillets. You can't go wrong with veggies, meat and eggs on top of a bed of potatoes. There's flavor choices for everyone. On my most recent visit I tried one of their avocado toasts- the one with cucumber and dill. It was really good! Plus, it came with two eggs and home fried on the side, ALL for $7.99! Compared to a lot of hipster places that charge you $10 for one tiny piece of avo toast, this was way more my speed. I also got an arnold palmer with unsweet tea to drink, which was perfect. My one issue with Brigs is that they're always so busy that it can be hard to feel ok about lingering over your meal and chatting with whoever you're with. But I suppose I can't hold it against them that they're so popular! Maybe just know that going in and don't go on a Saturday at 11am if you want to visit with a friend you haven't seen in a while. :) read more

we were sat very quickly, and ordered quickly. the menu was overwhelming with choices honestly. i decided on the croissant french toast combo with corned beef hash, eggs, and an add on home fries. my husband got some variation of the skillet. the french toast was SO good, the corned beef hash was great, they cooked my eggs to perfection! now i will say the home fries were between raw & almost fully cooked. other than that they were pretty good! we were served quickly & our waitress was on top of our table's needs and we were in & out with the quickness. i'd definitely come back if i were ever in the area again. read more

Really quite nice breakfast/brunch diner-type-place. Just before noon on the week before Christmas the place was busy but I got a table quickly and scoped out the menu (the sandwiches are on the side not facing out the exterior window!) My waiter was friendly and attentive and never a bother as I needed to do a lot of texting family chit-chat on my phone. I had to try the Reuben sandwich and it was quite good but the fried up bread should be a little more buttery brown. Its insides were really good, though. Firm but not oily or rubbery corned beef, and the right amount of nice cheese and the rest. And the fries were pretty good, but maybe a little stale somehow? I guess most people aren't getting french fries at 11:30 in the morning. Next time I'll get one of the omelets I think, although they have a changing sandwich special that looks really interesting (the one today sounded a little weird, but creative -- something with salmon). The place began to fill up quickly at noon and there's a bit of a choke point by the front door, of people coming in and also paying. And they're clearly willing to rearrange tables at least a little bit to do 6-person parties. It seems like a great place with both a traditional and imaginative menu. I'll certainly be back! Or apparently there's some other locations nearby to try. Be aware it's at the far right (north) end of the strip mall and the sign is hard to read both behind trees and it's in script. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon with my best friend for brunch. It was so busy and with all the great reviews, my expectations were set! The staff was super nice and it certainly gives a very local feel. They have a little bit of everything on the menu. This was the day that I learned that hot cakes means pancakes. I had the pancakes with house potatoes and grits. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. The potatoes were not really seasoned but they had salt and pepper on the table. The grits were not my favorite but the extra sugar made them okay. The server was really nice but she didn't really check-up on us. We had to ask her several times for napkins and water. The mug for my tea also had lipstick on it so I wasn't too pleased. If you're looking for something better than a diner chain, then this is your best bet in the RDU area. read more

It had been my intention to try out the Thai China Buffet in the same shopping center, but unfortunately that restaurant is closed on Sundays. So instead we stopped by Brig's, knowing that it probably wouldn't be terrible. I had been to the Brig's in Cary and I figured it would probably have the same atmosphere and menu, and my son always loves restaurants that have pancakes. When we first entered the restaurant there were no hosts in sight, but a large crowd waiting for a seat. We were just standing around in the for a few minutes before a guy came out and asked if we had signed up yet, and I said no and gave him my name. We were told it would be about 15 minutes, so we went outside to wait. Seems they could have a better system for dealing with crowds. After about 15 minutes we were seated. This restaurant has pretty much the same decor as the Cary Brig's. Not particularly inspired, but not oppressively ugly either. Pretty much the typical family diner. My son got the Kid's pancake as usual, which came with bacon and a scrambled egg. He doesn't actually eat bacon or eggs, so I got to have his. He was able to eat most of his pancake, and he liked it quite a bit. But he said it wasn't as good as the blueberry pancake he had at Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe the day before. It's his own fault though, Brig's makes blueberry pancakes but he ordered a plain one. Maybe it was just the lack of whipped cream he didn't like. I didn't ask if they had whipped cream at Brig's, but it seems to be the one thing that really inspires him to eat. I had already tried the breakfast at the Cary Brig's, so I decided to try something different this time. I got the Grilled Ham and Brie on rye bread with fries and fresh fruit. The sandwich was pretty good. The bread had some great rye flavor and the perfect buttery toasted texture, and brie is always delicious. I think they really used way too much ham though, it didn't balance well with the bread and brie. I think they probably could have used about half the amount of meat they had crammed into that sandwich. The fries were good, and the fruit was tasty, though it was odd the cantaloupe wasn't diced, it was just one huge 1/8th chunk of a cantaloupe. My husband got the B.L.T.C. with fries and macaroni and cheese, which I thought would have just been a regular BLT sandwich with some cheddar cheese slices in it. But what they brought out was a huge skillet with a roll on the bottom, piled up with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and melted cheese all over the top. I don't even know why this was under the sandwich section at all, it looked nothing like a sandwich. He didn't much like the macaroni and cheese; he said it was undercooked. The B.L.T.C. was "worth trying" but said he probably would stick to a more standard entree in the future. When my husband finished his meal, the server said "Wow, I've never seen anyone finish one of those before!". I took that to either mean A. She thinks my husband is a gluttonous pig, or B. The entree is pretty crappy so no one else really wanted to finish theirs. Either way, she probably should have thought what she was going to say before saying anything. It's not a bad restaurant. The entrees are decently priced, no one got food poisoning, and our time there was somewhat pleasant. I really enjoyed Brigs here! I don't usually go to a lot of breakfast restaurants because to me, breakfast isn't really a meal worth spending money on. However, this Sunday was different from all other Sundays (started at 5:30 AM) so I needed some grub when I had time. Personally, I'm currently on a strict cut (low-calorie/carb diet) so I needed somewhere that could deliver quality food while still having a plethora of options. It was a quite busy during the time we went there, with all tables filled up (luckily we got the last one before a wait was implemented to incoming customers). The girlfriend ordered the Club Benedict (which I took a small bite of) and it was delicious, but slightly too cheesy for my taste. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles but instead of Fried, I got grilled (which they charged me an extra $1..) chicken. The belgian waffle was fluffy and delightful to savor. However, the grilled chicken was a little too dry so I had to dip it in some ketchup/hot sauce. The service was great and the atmosphere was lively! Demographics were mostly packed with the elderly, some coming from church it seemed. In our 30+ minute wait, we saw how clean, empty tables would be vacant while the lobby and the front of the restaurant outside are crowded with waiting customers. They would also seat 1-2 people in 4 seater tables, making the wait even longer. The menu was large but nothing special. Standard diner items with above average portion, but the food quality was average. Taste was also average. This is a place to eat but not dine. If you're really hungry and just need breakfast food in your stomach come here, but if you want an experience and good food, go elsewhere. read more

The food here is like that of a diner so I can't imagine it being difficult to recreate at home. I came for brunch with a couple of ladies for brunch on a Saturday morning. There was a 15 minute wait when we got there (10:30 am) and a wait even when we were leaving (12:45 pm) Service was pretty slow. It took us awhile to get our food (which is why our brunch ended up being 2 hours) This place was packed so the air was musty- I felt like I was at a gym or something... Space inside is tiny. They try to cram in as many seats as possible- which explains why I kept bumping elbows with the girl sitting next to me (and I promise we're both petite ladies...) I can't stop coming here!!!! I went for the first time back in December and I've been well over 5 times since then. The waffles are AMAZING. The grits are a fixer upper, I always have to add salt, pepper and butter because of the the bland taste but they are cooked okay. The wait staff can seem a little overwhelmed at times or completely underwhelmed (because they will keep coming to the table, often i feel like they are trying to clear the table if they come too much). Prices here are great, you can have an excellent breakfast for under $10. I believe the waffle breakfast is 8.99 and it comes with a huge waffle, 2 eggs and your choice of their sides. They also have items like shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles. I've tried both but I think I'll stick to the regular or more traditional breakfast items because it seems that they do those best. The chicken for the chicken and waffles is chicken tenders and the shrimp seems like the frozen shrimp from Walmart. So my rating is strictly on the traditional breakfast items! Really nice brunch options. My favorite is the Waldorf Chicken Salad. It comes with a warm banana nut muffin and fruit. At peak times the service is a bit slow but by no means unacceptable. It's best for small groups. Everything tastes freshly made, not fast foody at all. And they have real brewed iced tea, which is a requirement for me! The only thing I don't like is when you finish eating you have to get in line up front to pay, which gets messy because it's the same line for people waiting to be seated. We had seen Brigs when going to the grocery store a week or so earlier and decided to give it a try. The menu had a large selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch items (they are not open for dinner). I ordered the Eggs Benedict special (which had roast beef) and DH had one of their scrambles. Both portions were big, filling, delicious and well priced. Plus, they list "Arnold Palmer" - my favorite thing to drink - on their beverage menu. The waitstaff is courteous and gives excellent service. The decor is a bit dated, but who cares. You can have a nice meal with good service for a very reasonable price. read more
