I came by here for my 6 month Subaru service as I had just recently moved to the area. In the past I haven't needed to make an appointment for my services, but at this dealership they recommended I call to make one in advance just in case. Luckily they were able to fit me in. You drive up to the service garage and drive your car in. There were two staff members there checking people in. They have a nice waiting area inside with small desks with outlets, and couches, plus with free coffee. Added bonus was their dealership puppy who was available to adopt! read more

Do not under any circumstances go to Brilliance Subaru Service Center Elgin. See below: - I brought my car in for new tires and alignment last Saturday, a good $1,274 job, and came in with a dent I was aware of that I was going to bring into a body shop this week to have fixed. After I brought it to Brilliance it's obvious someone either tried to push the dent out or damaged it in another way. - When I called them today and spoke to Rich Denchs, to simply ask for the footage in case I needed it for the insurance claim to get the original dent repaired, I was greeted with nothing but hostility. For 5 minutes I was in-directly called a liar, for example "why would we have done that when we've never done that before". I have pictures of the dent originally and took pictures after and it's obvious someone tampered with it. For the record I wasn't pointing the blame, I was simply asking for the shops footage. And to end the conversation before I hung up on him for the unbelievably unprofessional remarks, he said and I quote "well you you've never worked in an auto shop before". - When I first had the vehicle diagnosed for abnormal wheel vibrations at highway speeds they told me the $70 diagnostic fee would be put toward the cost of the repair, which was false. Not $1 from the diagnostic fee was put toward the wheel and alignment cost. - They updated my stereo without asking me. - They didn't put covers on my leather seats which got them dirty and I had to spend 30 minutes cleaning the seat after. - They parked my car (backed in), left it in 1st gear with the parking break on, and didn't tell me... YOU ALWAYS TELL THE OWNER WHEN YOU LEAVE THEIR CAR IN GEAR!! If you have to take your car to a Subaru dealer, do yourself a favor and take it somewhere else. read more

After purchasing my car from them 2 and a half years ago I noticed a steady decline in service and things wrong after service so I'd half to bring it back. They used to wash the car too. That must no longer be a perk for the oil change and tire rotation. Last time I was there they didn't even rotate my tires. Afterwards they asked how the service was and I said, not good. Two issues make me give this dealer a poor review: 1. We were sold a 2023 Subaru Outback with a defective computer system that made it impossible to use the Starlink system, and we didn't realize this until after getting it home. How this was not discovered prior to the sale, I'll never know. But the dealer was not at all helpful in getting the part and repairing it. We eventually had to call the corporate office and they are now handling it, but it's still not repaired because the part has not arrived yet. 2. We debated whether to pay cash or finance the car. We both had very high credit scores -- around 840. The dealer said that a credit inquiry would appear on our credit report as a result of the loan process. But what he didn't tell us is that they actually do TWO hard inquiries when they finance the car. The first is done by Brilliance Subaru. They second is by Chase Bank. Our credit scores dropped around 40 points after these two inquiries. When we spoke to the dealer's general manager he said that in his 20 years of working there, no one has cared about this. He denied that these inquiries hurt our credit, even though they are the only thing that is below "excellent" on our credit reports. In that category we have an "average" rating. Every other category is "excellent." The dealer will not even attempt to have the dealer's inquiry removed. They made their sale and they are done. read more

Weve been car shopping for a while and although we didnt get a car here Jay was still awesome as a sales man. Good guy. We did get a subaru out in oswego and it had some recalls. Rolled thru here since its at home and everything was taken care of prompty. No complaints. Have to come back in a few months for an airbag recall next. Service writer Rich was a good dude. Definitely one of the best Car Dealerships I have dealt with. Normally looking for a new car is unfortunately a nightmare, but not at Brilliance Subaru. They did not mess around or play games with me, just showed me the vehicle I wanted and gave me some similar options. They were able to get me into a new 2021 Subaru Outback Onyx XT that literally was fresh off the truck, it still had the shipping stickers on it and everything. So nice to buy a new car that was actually, "new"!!! Also let me take the car for a test drive alone without pressuring me while tagging along! I came in with my own financing, but they were also able to come back with a competitive rate as a backup if I needed. Was a great experience start to finish, and I would definitely recommend. We called ahead re: 2 used cars we wanted to see. When we arrived, the cars were pulled up at the front entrance and ready to view.. The salesperson (Keith) did a good job of reviewing the features, providing pricing, etc. The main area of the dealership was much more pleasant because there was no blaring music. Highest priced dealership around! They have now lost 2 sales from us. Both times Grand Subaru beat their prices out of the water. Actually I found the same exact Ascent at 3 different dealerships and all 3 of them beat Brilliance's price by 6k. The staff was friendly when we were there which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. But my advice to you is to check for the car you want at other Subaru dealerships before you purchase because you will be able to get a better price elsewhere. read more

I bought my used 2018 Legacy here with a 100K wtty. I've always had my oil changed here because they rotated my tires and did a multipoint inspection as well. At 89K the transmission had to be replaced. At100K I was told I needed around $4k in repairs. Lower ball joints and an engine oil leak. How did all this happen in the 6k miles since my last oil change? I can ONLY assume its because my wtty expired 1k miles ago. I know how to do many repairs on cars. When you rotate tires, worn ball joints are very apparent. They also don't wear out of spec in 6k miles. BEWARE. I also contacted they're customer service manager ina follow up. I explained the situation. Her response was to blow me off. No reassurances, no attempt to negotiate costs, just a " Have a nice day". This is my first and last Subaru. I've read many customer complaints on Subaru forums about terrible transmission problems and engine leaks/ failures. BEWARE OF SUBARU. read more

I purchased my Outback at this dealership and had a good experience. This was my second oil change/tire rotation since I bought the vehicle. It was recommended that I change the cabin and engine air filters. When I was told the price of the filters, I nearly fell out of my chair. I realize that there was going to be a dealer markup, but I didn't think it would be 100% over what you could buy at the local parts store. It also was not explained to me that there was going to be a $10 charge for the installation of each filter. I was under the impression that the prices quoted would be inclusive of installation. From this point forward I will change my own filters and save $40 in the process. Neither filter is difficult to change. I will be thinking long and hard about whether or not I will bring the vehicle in for its 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance to this dealer. read more

After having a previously horrible experience at a different dealership, I intentionally looked for one with high ratings and this was the best one in my area. Top it off with the fact that I was considering a Subaru? Yes please. I looked up the car I wanted online and that's the only car I dove when I got there. It was perfect! The negotiation part was seamless and I didn't feel pressured at all. I came with a quote from my current lender at the time but they were able to get me a lower interest rate which was great. What's even better about them? The service department. They are ALWAYS super nice (I've had horrible experience with another dealership on the service side too). My only suggestion would be that they need to get better at updating people. Every time I've dropped off my car for service and they say they will call me back "before noon" or "by 2" they never do. I'm always having to call and get a status update. I assume it's because I just drop off my car and leave with a loaner and they just fit it in when they can, but it's just a little annoying to be expecting a call that you never get. Even if the call was to say they are still working on it, I would be fine with that. Other than that, I would highly recommend this dealership both for sales and service. read more

I checked online Synthetic Oil Change 79.99 including tire rotation, but after I showed my coupon $7.5 and no tire rotation, they went up price 89.99 on the same day and gave me discount $10 totally, that meant coupon was useless. They replaced 2 light bulbs, 1 front left, 1 rear right, after I got home I found some lights off, went back, and they replaced another sides, but I suspected they replaced wrong bulbs before and charged me again second time, 1 star for the lady, she is nice. read more

Bought a GMC Sierra from them and they wouldn't work with me at all. Didn't budge on the price even though the truck had been on the lot for 10 months already. Had a bunch of rust on it and didn't offer any help with that. Wouldn't throw in any floor mats, warrant, or new rotors when they were rusted bad. I have no experience car shopping here, so this is for the service center . I came about 30 minutes earlier than my appointment was scheduled and they got me in right away, so that was nice. I was given a warm greeting and directed to the waiting room. It was the nicest waiting room pretty much anywhere! There was coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water. The room was pristine and large. There was a TV, chairs, couches, a high counter and private little study/working nooks. They also had free wi-fi, which is always a nice bonus, especially if you're going to be sitting somewhere for a while. I was there for a recall on my car and asked about one another thing. They fixed the recall, looked at what my issue was, checked my brakes, topped off my fluids and even washed the outside of the car! I was out of there in less than an hour and left quite happy. I will 100% come back here for my next service needs. Very satisfied!!! read more

We recently had my 2014 Forester serviced. The original diagnosis a few months earlier was for a major repair. When they looked at it again they said that they thought what was needed was $1000 less. They did the repair and it is perfect. I would never have known if it needed the more expensive repair had they done it. I am extremely impressed with and grateful for their integrity and professionalism. The price was competitive as well. It was ready when promised. So here's the latest on this dealership. I wanted to put on winter tires; they told me I should go to a tire shop not get tires from them. So I did. After getting the summer tires back on, the tire pressure light came on. I got a message on the car that I should come in to check it. When I did, the service guy said it would need to be reprogrammed - and the charge to do that would be 60 bucks! I went back to the tire place and the guy there did the reprogramming in 5 minutes with a handheld device for no charge. Good to know that a dealership that has made money from me from three new cars and multiple service appointments is looking to rip me off. I will never buy another car from this place. read more

All I needed was my 2017 Subaru outback, serviced .I needed an oil change and a rear wiper. I'm very disappointed to say that they could not perform both. My oil was I quart low and all I got was a reburbisched wiper that was not new. Total loss in value was about $35.00. I'm sorry , but no attempt was to fix the problem as I called the manager, of this dealership.I will be heading to Evanston for better service. I recently bought a car over the weekend and I was so happy with the dealership and the service. I told them my expectation and they were very accommodating. I did not feel like I was being pressured into a purchase or pressured into anything uncomfortable; it was a painless process. My sales person was Dan and he was so friendly and accommodating and did everything he could to make sure I walked out with what I wanted and a smile on my face! I highly recommend this dealership to anybody. I admit, I am a hard to please person and I was pleasantly surprised and how great they are! The service dept, and Adam in particular, really went above and beyond today. I work across the street at the hospital. Got up for work and had a nearly flat tire. I stopped to fill before going to work and it was almost flat again when I got to work. I called the service dept and spoke with Adam. I explained that I don't drive a Subaru, but would they be willing to help a girl out by taking a look. He assured me that they'd take care of everything. I dropped the car off and within 2 hrs it was ready to pick up - they found a nail in the tire and plugged the hole. They even washed it for me! I don't currently drive a Subaru, but am definitely considering one for my next car! read more

I have the lemon of Subaru's. I've had my Subaru for 3 yrs and I've had a new engine, new transmission and now a new compressor installed. I've called corporate and all they can say is " I'm sorry " no solution or assistance. What a complete waste of my time. All the commercials about dependability and longevity of their vehicles is a JOKE. At the rate my vehicle is going , it won't make to the 5th year. I have been going here for a couple of years. Today I experienced horrible customers services and a mouthy manager. I left my car overnight for new tires. I mentioned cosmetic issues I was having and they took a look. I was told the cosmetic issues cannot be taken care of because of the warranty expiration, which I understood. The issue I had is when I picked up my vehicle. I found one cosmetic issue I had with my vehicle was worsen at the dealership. I express my frustration to the manager and he kept claiming it was not them and they have documentation. The manager became very mouthy and was acting smart with me. Which got me even more frustrated with that dealership. The issue with their documentation is that it has very loose interpretation of the actual issue. I advise if you got there for service, keep your own documentation (like I have) or choose elsewhere. read more
