Only giving one star because I don't think they will allow me giving zero.. i was a loyal customer for a long time and then about a year ago one day I went in and for whatever reason they were in a rush so they had two girls do me one for my feet and other for my hands. I went in with enough to tip one girl and pay my tab. So I had to then split the tip I would have given one girl. The owner put my on blast and asked me to give more money! I told him I didn't have it and I didn't ask for two girls. this is your fault for making two people do me. After that I didn't go Back! This year I decided to give them another chance. Got my nails done gel powder and it lasted a week before they all cracked.. when I went today I asked why they didn't use the UV light on gel powder anymore. BEWARE!!!! Owner is RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL AND DEMANDING and found out today that the staff is following in his footsteps. I starting coming to this nail spa because it was recommended to me by a friend and it was close to my home. I think we all look for a pleasant nail salon that will be consistent with their application along with being nice and friendly since we are paying for our services and tip depending on how good and friendly they are. The owner is EXTREMELY aggressive, rude and yells when talking to the customers, I have witnessed it too many times. TODAY.... was the topping on the cake..... I went there today for my 12:00 appointment, got there 10 minutes early to get a fill in and as soon as I walked in the energy was heavy and dull. I was approached by the owner who greeted me with a serious demeanor and not so friendly voice, he told me to sit started working on my nails and then passed my down to Summer the nail tech which I had an appointment with since Linda was not available, She seemed annoyed that I was asking questions about different options and gave me attitude, she proceeded to file my nails, when I noticed a nail was a bit crooked, I asked nicely, can you make sure to staighted this nail? and she rolled her eyes and muttered words to herself. I love getting my nails done at Brilliant Nails Spa. Everyone that works in there does a great job. The place is clean, efficient and they have a big selection of colors. A few times I didn't wait long enough at the dryer and smudged my polish and they always let me come back in to fix it. They are flexible if you don't make an appointment. If I could give a zero star I would. The owner Didn't tell me there is a minimum charge for credit card until after I finished my services. I only had credit card. He decided to charge me a service fee only after he saw I didn't have cash. And he was really rude to me. There are no signs anywhere about the minimum charge and he acted like I should know. He still charged me the service fee after I said don't charge it and I don't agree with it. They really are unbelievable and true scammers. There should be a sign about the minimum and they shouldn't be so rude. I was told that acrylic is 25. I ended up paying 45. I even get charged 5 dollars extra just for filing my nails?? Really?? Once, the gel was peeling of my nails just after two days. I went back and they just polished it over where it was peeled!! They even charged me for a nail that was broken even though I did it there. After trying every salon in Great Neck, I was hesitant to try another place. I have resorted to paying midtown prices to get what I want but still left feeling there must be something in the neighborhood I'm missing. I found Christine and the reviews are correct, she is an excellent waxer. She makes you feel comfortable and tells you when to pull your skin tight before she removes the strip. She is very thorough, fast, clean and sanitary. The wax she uses is superior to the pot of wax I own and have my name on at a fancy wax spa in Manhattan. Really. Jason, the only man who works there, performed the most through pedicure and manicure. He then gave me a 30 minute massage that was very soothing to me. The Package 2 for $45 includes mani, pedi and 30 minute massage foot or back. The chairs all work, the place is no frills and very clean. The bathroom is a bathroom only not a storage place. You feel comfortable there. A regular mani pedi is $22 with paraffin, no extra charge. This is really unheard of. They take their time and are super efficient and apply a base coat two coats of polish and a top coat. There is no hidden charges or surprises. They like if you pay in cash but debit and credit cards are accepted with a charge of $20 and up. You can get a points card too for every turn you take there you receive one point for each dollar you spend. When you have $300 points you get a free pedi. This will add up fast if you wax and get a package a few times a month! I will be back and I am probably one of the most picky persons in the area. read more

Hands down, my favorite nail salon in Great Neck. I have been a regular customer at G&J for two years now, and I always go to see Connie. She is the practical (won't force any particular service on you for no apparent reason), meticulous (takes her time in shaping your nails and applying polish), and talented (gives the best back and foot massages). Since G&J is often quite busy, I always make sure to call ahead and make an appointment to see Connie (and then I never feel rushed). They also have a points program - each dollar equals one point - which over time, you can use to pay for a future service. I also find G&J's prices to be very reasonable. I generally get either the $65 package (regular mani & pedi with 30 minutes back massage, 30 minutes foot massage), or one of the $45 spa pedicure treatments (they all include the callous removal and 20 minute foot massage) with a regular mani. I have also made separate appointments during the week for a 1-hour massage with Connie ($50/hour). All in all, I highly recommend G&J and don't forget to ask for Connie! read more
