I show up after lunch, at latest 2pm, and ask for a State Inspection. Waiting room is empty, I see multiple empty bays. The older guy behind the desk starts spinning up some excuse why he can't do a 20min procedure, and it's so obviously BS I called him out on it, and he didn't really deny it. This senior tech didn't have the courtesy or the foresight to schedule me for an appointment the following day. Instead they saw fit to send me and my business away and made clear my business was not a priority. If they don't want to be bothered doing state inspections they should stop advertising them. read more

It was living breathing organism that took out my rear tire and spit it out in pieces. I was fortunate enough to take an exit close to this tire shop as they went above and beyond to just get me back on the road. I have a Tesla Model X with an unnecessarily complicated tire size and Harvey spent hours trying to find me a size that fit. I don't normally post reviews but I recently hit a huge pothole on 93S that ruined both tires on the passenger side of my MB C300. Fortunately, after the blowout I was able to coast down a nearby,exit ramp. Amazingly, there at the bottom, sitting like a mirage, was the Brilliant Tire facility! Even though all of this happened late on the chaotic Friday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend, they installed two temporary tires for me to drive on for several days while they searched for the permanent factory model OEM tires. I'm extremely grateful for the folks at Brilliant, who stayed after closing time to deal with my predicament. When Harvey, Bob and Stephanie heard my wife starting to blame me for hitting the pothole and verbally dreading the huge traffic nightmare that awaited us--they came to my rescue and assured her they''d be finished soon and wouldn't leave us in the lurch. They even fed her a bagel and coffee while hustling to finish the job! They were magnificent. Today I returned to have them put on the permanent tires and they did it promptly. Even more impressive, they had purchased some bagels for me to take home to my wife-- even remembering she liked the "plain" variety. Now that's service well above and beyond. Can't say enough great things about Harvey and Stephanie. I recently found myself in Boston on a Sunday leaving for a cruise. I ended up with a busted tire. I had no choice that day, but to tow my car to the cruise port parking lot. I got a suggestion from a fellow cruises about Brilliant Tire. I contacted Harvey and Stephanie from the cruise ship and explained my situation. They were able to get my car towed to their shop and replace the tires even without having the keys! I didn't miss a day of my cruise and they were very helpful. I felt like they went above and beyond what needed to be done in order for me to enjoy my time and they reassured me the entire time taking all the steps they could to make sure that I had nothing to worry about. Don't go here!!! Came in for just an inspection. They failed me because of my tires. Paid over $600 for new tires and 4 days later the tire goes flat. And my engine light is on. Instead of offering a new tire under warranty they just patch the tire up. They claim it was a nail but didn't show me one. 3 hours later and I head home. They were polite and I had work so I didnt complain. On the way home I hear crazy rattling and my tire lights go back on. I call them and tell them and they tell me to bring it in. I wait for over an hour for them to claim it's body work. How can I bring my car in and all I need is new tires...The tires go bad in a few days. They don't honor the warranty. Then they claim that a sound my car didn't make before I brought it in, on the exact same place where my brand new $300 tire went flat has nothing to do with them. Smfh. Save yourself time and money. I was very surprised at hearing the news of this place this morning. My wife took her car in for an oil change. Had been there before for services, as have I. Inspections, oil etc. This shop charged her $150+ for an oil change, filter, and air cabin filter. I'm no mechanic. But, I know even with full synthetic oil, there is no way it costs $150 for an oil change on a car less than 10 years old... As I said, my wife and I have been here before. And it will be the last time we take our business here. I'm not sure as to why she had this issues today. I'd like to not go on a limb and say that it's because she went in by herself and was taken advantage of because she didn't know better. But, she paid dealership price, if not over, for a local garage to do that to her. Any fool can search these parts and see that there is no way an air cabin filter costs $30. Or an oil filter $50.. for an American made car, less than 10 years old. Shame on a local business for doing this to its locals. read more

I walked In and was taken care of right away. All good vibes the rep was nice. Got a patch on a slow leak in my tire. Waited maybe 20-30min. I was not in a hurry so it seemed like I quick. The issue was fixed . I checked the tire before getting in the car and noticed how dirty the wheel was. Also noticed the metal valve cover was replaced with a black plastic cover. I figured they lost it. Got home and started to wipe down my wheels and notice a scratch half way around the rim like a circular motion.It was obviously done by them and they tried to cover it by dirtying up the wheel. I was not in a hurry . So there was no need to be so careless because it was a petty patch up. I'm so disappointed. I called to let them know but the advice was to call back tomorrow. I would not trust taking my 2023 jeep renegade back there. SMH! Went back the next day and they were kind enough to refund my money. They also offered to fix my rim but it would be too inconvenient for me. read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional after failed my state inspection telling me I needed 4 new tires. Tires still have plenty of life. Had to file dispute with the RMV who had an inspector meet me the next morning and issued a PASS on tires while the owner was back peddling saying that they only failed front tires not all 4. Then further tried to justify their rejection saying the tires won't pass next year. It's not your job to predict the future the determination is based on the condition when the inspection sticker is issued. Do not trust this business! read more

Be aware that even though they open at 8am, they don't start state inspections until 8:30 and they won't tell you that when you show up at 8am for an inspection. After waiting over 30 minutes, I finally asked about my car only to find out they hadn't even started working on it yet. The owner gave me the impression it was getting inspected instead of telling me they wouldn't start until 8:30. The only reason I went there was because it was close to my son's school and open at 8am. Had I known I would be waiting there for an hour, I wouldn't have stayed in the first place. read more

UPDATE April 2013: I took my car to another shop (Central Ave Garage in Milton, they are awesome!) to get the vibrating fixed. Eddie, the shop owner, re-balanced the tires and told me Brilliant majorly screwed them up. That still didn't fix the vibration, so he ended up having to switch the front and back tires because the front ones (latest ones from Brilliant) are low quality. So basically I paid $400 for crappy tires that I can only have on the back of my car, caused my car to vibrate, and will wear out much faster since I can't rotate them because the car will shake again. Bottom line: DO NOT GO TO BRILLIANT TIRE!!!! This used to be my go-to place, but I won't be back. I've been here for inspection stickers without a problem, but the last two times I've been I feel like I'm getting ripped off. I brought my car in last December (2011) for a tire rotation, and was told I needed two new tires because they were bald. Ok, fine. I understand tires wear down and need to be replaced. A year later, this past December (2012), I brought it in again to get a valve stem fixed, and was told I needed three new tires, the two that weren't changed last time, plus one that was - because they were all bald. When I said I just had two new tires put on, including the one he wanted to change, and had put less than 1,000 miles on the car since then (I don't drive much), the story changed. The person I was speaking with kind of stammered and said the tire had a bubble, and that's not covered under the warranty, so he couldn't get me a discount on a replacement. Stupidly, I agreed to just get everything done - which cost me about $400. Even after that I probably still would have gone back, except when I picked up the car and drove it on the highway, where I found the steering wheel was vibrating like it never had before. I called them immediately to ask what was going on - I'd expect that they could do the job right for $400. They took it back and re-balanced the tires, and while the vibrating is better, it's still there. I'm definitely done going back there as I don't like being taken advantage of. Next! read more

I want to warn people about going here, as I've seen the same thing in other reviews as what happened to me. I brought my vehicle in for an inspection and the guy at the front desk, Harvey, told me I got a rejected sticker because my tire tread was bad. ***Long story short, they tried to force me to buy tires when my tires were proven to have FOUR TIMES the legal limit for a pass; they got hostile when I didn't want to buy their tires; and they made me wait for over two hours while they messed up the Vehicle Inspection Report THREE TIMES! I went back with an inspector from the RMV who forced them to pass my vehicle. Please avoid this place.*** Long version: The Vehicle Inspection Report they provided me listed the 'TIRES' as a 'PASS' but the 'Modified Vehicle Height' as 'FAIL.' Since Harvey told me that the tires failed, and my vehicle is not lifted or lowered, I told him the discrepancy before paying for the rejected sticker. Harvey said that they'd have to re-do the report. The second report came back without comments on it, and all items were listed as 'PASS.' While I was standing right there, Harvey was visibly aggravated and he said he was going to 'kill that kid' who just completed the inspection. Who says that in front of a customer? He said he would need to do a third report. I asked Harvey to show me the failed tire depth. He brought me over to a mud terrain tire and said that's what the tread should look like. I had all-terrain tires, so I told him my tires weren't comparable since the M/T is far more aggressive. Plus, he had the same tire in the waiting area as I had on my vehicle, which I pointed out, so we should compare those, if anything. We went outside to look at my tires. Harvey said that he didn't have a tool to measure tread depth. I asked how he can fail the tires if he doesn't have a tread depth gauge and the tread isn't at the wear bands. Harvey said, "It's up to my discretion" to fail tires...I asked him that I'd like to see them measured. This time, he wandered through the shop asking others for a tread depth tool. He finally finds one after making me wait. Mind you, this is Brilliant TIRE--a tire shop with no tread depth gauge to be found for their inspections? When Harvey measured the tread depth on the two passenger side tires, it was 8/32 of an INCH ON BOTH TIRES--FOUR TIMES the legal limit! He even checked each tire in multiple spots (middle, inner, outer) multiple times. He didn't check the driver's side since that was in the street. Harvey then started shaking his head and said, "That's not right. The gauge is broken." It's a manual, physical gauge. There's not much that can go wrong with it. Of course, there were no other tread depth gauges to be found at this point. My vehicle went back into the garage for a third inspection, and I got a report that finally claims what Harvey had been saying for two hours with no evidence: that my tires were a 'FAIL.' Harvey tried to make a deal with me on four used tires, then four new tires. He yelled at me for not buying tires. I think my lack of emotional response and not eating up his lies made him mad. Then he said, "If you don't like my judgment, take it up with the RMV." That's exactly what I did. I filed a complaint, and the RMV inspector met me at Brilliant Tire a month after the failed inspection. The inspector came into the shop and Harvey and his team went quiet. The inspector checked my tires and they all passed. Harvey tried to tell the inspector that it was a new tech who claimed my tires were bad, and that he didn't know how to measure them. My complaint already explained the above--that Harvey found a tool and measured my tires to find they were legal and still failed me. So he just can't help himself from lying. I didn't interject as I got my sticker and got to leave this incredibly scummy place for the last time. If you've been caught lying, just admit to it--or better yet don't try to screw people over. If I had a good experience, I would have had work done in the future when I actually needed it. But they lost a customer, and hopefully many more. read more

My boyfriend's car ran over a huuuuge pothole on 93 S in Boston and we pulled into a nearby staples Walgreens parking lot off of the highway. Brilliant tire was a few min away and it was only a few hours till they closed on a Saturday. We managed to get there and the owner let us get the tire changed in the parking lot since we were worried about the rim being damaged. The owner was super understanding and helpful even though the entire thing meant that the mechanics at the place had to work past closing. Highly recommend for their service. read more

I have been here twice. Once for an inspection and once for a used tire. The inspection couldn't have been quicker or more friendly. I got a flat tire just before a big snow storm and called to see if they had my size and, luckily, they did. I got there around 10 on a snowy Saturday morning and they had the balanced wheel back on the car, donut back in the trunk, and my keys back in my hand before 10:30. All for 50 bucks. I cant be sure they are always as fast as my experience tells me, but they certainly do their best to get you in and out. I would absolutely recommend them for used tires and inspections. read more

Came here to get a sticker and the owner failed me on all 4 tires of my car. I was planning on putting some mud tires on my car soon because I knew they were getting close to having to get new ones but they were not at the point of failing yet. I proved to the owner that they were technically passing and that failing them is illegal. He tried to tell me that every tire place measures differently and by the way he measures them, my car is failing. I pulled out my tool that measures the tread and proved to him they each passed well over the mark. He pulled out his tool that had 3 colors (green, yellow, and red). They were all in yellow range in which he said he calls that failing. I told him this is completely illegal and he finally said he would pass my original tires. AFTER HE PASSED MY ORIGINAL TIRES I decided to bring in some mud tires I had in my garage and paid him to put them on my jeep. In a previous review he tried to lie and say that he passed me after he changed my tires. He said to contact MA registry if there are issues. He is lucky he didn't post his shops identification number online because trust me, I did go to the registry to report him and I couldn't complete the process without that number and I was too lazy to go to his shop and ask for it. This guy is a scam artist. Do not go here. UPDATE: AGAIN, like I said CLEARLY IN MY REVIEW, at the end of the day, this man PASSED MY CAR WITHOUT CHANGING THE TIRES BECAUSE HE ADMITTED HE WAS IN THE WRONG AND MY CAR TECHNICALLY PASSED. If you own a business you should 1. Learn how to follow the law and maybe this would not have happened, and 2. Got my Honda towed there after stalling on the freeway. It was close to my job so I figured I could leave it there and pick it up after work. All it needed was an alternator replacement and everyone I spoke to including other mechanics told me it wouldn't be around $200. I was almost floored when they told me it was going to cost me $370. WARNING! They mess with your car! I brought my car in on a Friday to get the REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE repaired. When I picked my car up, the radio and navigation system were asking for a password to get back into them. When I asked the person behind the counter what happened, he said that my "battery must've died". I told him that my battery was fine and there was no reason it would've died. He told me there was nothing he could do. He said I would have to take the car to the dealership to get a password. Eventually I was able to call the dealership to get the password. On Saturday I go to warm my car up, and my AUTOMATIC STARTER ISN'T WORKING. And they're closed, so I have to wait until Monday to see what possessed them to go under my hood and mess with my battery and automatic starter when all I needed was a tire on the opposite side of the car repaired!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! You'll end up leaving with more problems then you came in with! read more

Excellent and friendly service! I went in because I'm selling my car that is registered in CT to a buyer here in MA. Matt greeted me when I drove in after another kind employee had given me directions over the phone politely. The tire place wasn't very obviously marked with a big sign that I saw, but it is in the same plaza connected to Neponset Circle Carwash, so if you pull in there right under the bridge, the tire spot is connected. Matt ran an emissions test for me, explained what each failed code meant, and advised me about how much my buyer could expect to pay in tune-up fees. Even though I wasn't getting the repairs done with Matt I appreciated all the free advice he gave me about the car selling process and car maintenance prices. I will definitely make the trip over there in the future for anything I need because I felt that I was working with honest people. read more

i was shocked that i was treated so horribly by Mike after i stopped by there yesterday to tell him that my mechanic found that the reason my steering wheel had gone from the 12 oclock position to almost the 2:30 position was that he found and showed me that one of the major bolts used to align my front end had loosened,he did some measuring with my help and tightened the loose bolt in that position which made the vehicle feel much better but told me that i needed to have it re-aligned. i had a 4 wheel alignment done there at the quincy brilliant location a couple years ago but only had put less than 8,500 miles on the vehicle when it started to feel unsafe on the highway so it never occured to me that it could have had anything to do with an alignment.the 2 yrs doesnt make a difference,its the actual miles that you put on the aligned vehicle,but i was willing to pay for resetting the FRONT alignment that went bad prematurely due to them not tightening that bolt properly,didnt need the rear touched at all.but Mike said it would be another $129.00(the price i had originally paid for a 4 wheel alignment),and again stated that i only needed the FRONT re-done and asked for the price,to which he annoyingly again said that it would be $129.00.this is completely ridiculous and a complete rip off,almost as if they intentionally leave things loose enough to only last only a short time to drum up more $$.times change and i guess this shows that this place is no longer a reputable repair option according to others i talked to also that have been bringing their repairs elsewhere and also that i was crazy to pay that much for my original alignment when so many other nearby businesses offer the same services for less and back up their work.i was polite and gave no reason nor was their ANY reason for this bull. read more
