Servicing cars here for years. Though i don't usually need any diagnostics per-say, i usually figure out what may be wrong with my car and then if i cannot handle it or don't have the lift to do certain jobs, Peter usually gets me in quick and what I need is then taken care of. I don't get up charged or suggested to do a ton of work that doesn't need to be done. Just what I want done and that's it. Worst customer service. Waste of time. Owner is rude and interrupts, says "no I can't do it" before I even explain my problem; then changes to "no we're too busy". I've called on at least three separate occasions with various jobs, and every time he rudely interrupts me and says "too busy". I can only assume they're uninterested in bringing in new customers. This shop is incapable of moving a tire from an old wheel to a new one. Pathetic! read more

The first time I went for an oil change and inspection stick and it was fine but after today's interaction it's clear their customer service is just not good. I called today to see if I could tow my car there to have a tire replaced since it's flat, the guy who picked up cut me off and was like "no you can't today maybe friday or Saturday but nothing today" i responded with "ok no worries i'm not in a rush just wanted to see when I would be able to tow it there to get it serviced" again he cuts me off just to keep saying no and that I should go to a tire company instead and then hung up. I would have happily had it serviced Saturday if that was better for them but he actively pushed me away from working with them. My dad owned an auto shop for 25 years before he passed away and I could never imagine him ever doing that to a customer. There was no help or consideration at all and I will no longer be bringing my car here, it was a one and done situation since obviously they do not care for repeat customers or helping at all. I have been taking my car here for years. They are honest mechanics that aren't afraid to tell me to go somewhere else to get a better deal, such as getting tire replacements. They charge a reasonable price for their services from the oil changes to brake replacements and are transparent up front. The waiting room is basic compared to a chain. While you wait, you can get a snack at H-Mart down the street! read more

Had my brakes, rotors, caliper, and shocks done here in separate events. These guys are great. They are professional and their pricing is fair in my opinion. One critique I would have to say is that when I went to change my front brakes, they didn't check my rear brakes to tell me that it might need to be changed. I think this is something minor in my eyes but it could be a game changer for others. I still appreciate the other service and advice they gave me in terms of saving money and telling me what good for my car. WHATEVER YOU DO STAY FAR FAR AWAY. What they did to me was MUCH WORST than I initially thought. Changing my 2 star review into a 1 star: It is one thing to overcharge on services and make you believe you got a deal, that is business. You agree to do a job at a certain price and I am fine with that. However it is unethical, immortal and just down right wrong what they did to me. When I installed my brake pads with Quincy Auto Center 2 years ago I got 4 EBC Red Stuff brake pads installed, link (https://www.amazon.com/EBC-Brakes-DP31193C-Redstuff-Ceramic/dp/B000CGRMHG). They have been the only mechanic I've gone to since (100k service, timing belt service, oil changes). It wasn't until after yesterday's post that I noticed that the rear left brake pad was considerably worn and not the same brand/make as my other 3 brake pads. As a result my rear left rotor is also the ONLY one that has grooves and scratches. Please see the picture below, these are the rear brake pads I took out of my car this morning. 1 side of the pair is not the same and is not my EBC red stuff brake pad; that brake pad is worn down to the metal and has caused screeching and made grooves into my rotor while the other 3 brake pads are about 80% worn, NOT down to the metal. I believe Quincy Auto Center swapped these brake pads in as a con job when I brought my car in for an oil change one time, they have been the ONLY mechanic I've gone to seen putting these in. I recall at the conclusion of my last oil change they notified me that I needed to get new rotors and brakes soon (reference above post when Sai offers $120 labor each for front and back rotor+brake job). I went in directly to Quincy Auto Center today and confronted Sai. He simply said that he did not swap out my brake pads and would not do that. He said he put in whatever brake pad I gave him at the time. Now my brake pads at the time were completely NEW, I purchased them from amazon, inspected them before I brought them in and can confirmed they were completely red and brand new. As you can see from the pictures, one side of the brake pad (picture bottom left) is not only yellow, but also considerably more worn than the other ones. When I let Sai know this, his response was the caliper caused the pads to be worn like that. I cannot imagine how many other people they have done this to and I hope this post helps people. Every time I needed a service I was able to get an appointment rather quickly and never had to wait long when I brought my car in. Most importantly, I felt the owners were honest and I would not be sold extra services or have to overpay. Had some warning lights come on in my Acura and then turn off. I had this happen a long time ago and then the issue went away. I had researched it online and some people said the issue just goes away while others said it is sometimes a battery issue. This was at 4pm on a Saturday. I swung by this place at 4:30pm (since they close at 5pm), explained the situation and asked them if they could check the battery to see if it was low on voltage. This was apparently too much to ask as they refused and said to come back on Monday and they'll run tests on the whole car. I explained multiple times that I just wanted them to check my battery so that I wouldn't potentially be stranded somewhere but they said they were not able to check a battery and to come back next week. I went to my regular mechanic on Monday and the car was fine. He checked my battery free of charge and it took him less than 5 minutes. The guys at this place were just lazy. Give me a break. I don't even want to know what they would have "found" on Monday..... read more

Went to this QAC for inspection sticker, transmission fluid change, left and right ball joint, and other stuff for my vehicle and things were done in a timely fashion. They provide status update for their customers, honest costs of repair/services, and the environment there is friendly. They do explain what is recommended and what is not needed for the moment and give an estimated time that you should be back to have it fixed/serviced. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to save money and have a car that can run as long as they are alive, haha read more

I followed Si here from his original location in Dorchester near South Bay - he's THAT great. I've gone through 2 cars with him, not including my current one AND my boyfriend's. I've had belts changed, oil changes, brakes, accidents, flats, etc all across the board when it comes to car issues. Si has always taken the time to explain things to me and give me all possible options at the lowest prices. He's never treated me as less knowledgable because I'm a female (which to my disdain has happened in many places around dorchester) Recently we were driving along 93S and slashed both drivers side tires on my bf's Mitsubishi Lancer. Si gave me a quote for two tires, mounting and balancing - updated me on any issues he found before proceeding with a chargeable service, and made sure I was informed of everything along the way. I have to agree with previous reviews. I came in for an inspection sticker, also got oil change and one of my tires had a huge nail in it. The entire bill was less than $80. Not only were they very well priced, they were extremely nice, they were quick, and they didn't create problems from nothing like other mechanics have in the past. I had a problem with a piece of a cover to my catalytic converter hanging from my car. The first place I brought it to told me to take it to a muffler shop, that my exhaust was in need of repair. I brought it to QAC next because I did not notice my car was any louder and I was on the road in less than 20 minutes without the unnecessary new exhaust system. This place gets pretty busy but they're quick. They try not to make you wait too long. I called in one afternoon for new tires, they ordered new tires for me and took me in first thing the next morning. Car inspections are done quickly and efficiently here as well. My car has had a state inspection, oil change, brake change, starter change, power steering reservoir fix, and a power steering fluid leak fixed at this center. The price has always been good and they are always quick with the repairs, possibly because I ask for it to be done as soon as it is possible. If they find anything extra, they call me before fixing it. If there are options for parts, they call and see which one I want to pay for. When I got my power steering reservoir changed, they specifically told me they could get my car dealer's part the same day, but it would cost more for faster pick up and because it's the actual car part. I was willing to pay. This morning, they checked for a scraping noise we heard in the wheel area and for a loose cable at the starter. They found nothing, and did not charge us. I really like this place, and I will always go here for as long as I live in the area. read more

These guys are honest--they had multiple opportunities to charge me more than they did, but repeatedly opted to perform only the minimal service required. That said, it looks like they repaired the wrong stuff, hence the two star rating. In more detail: my check engine light was on, and I had Advanced Auto Parts look up the code. It was being set off by two codes. The guy reset the check engine light to see whether it would stay off so I could pass inspection. The light came back on, so I brought it in to this mechanic. They took a look, and although I'd previously had two codes activating the light, only one was now active. They said therefore not to worry about the other issue, and see if we can get away with just fixing the one active code. As I said, they weren't trying to do anything more than what was necessary to pass inspection--honest guys. They told me they had to replace several things. Parts and labor wound up being $250. A couple of days later, the check engine light comes back on, activated by the same code they'd supposedly already done repairs for. They look again and notice that a certain part was loose. They replaced it and charged me nothing for labor since it was a small job and was the second go-around. Again, honest guys. But then the check engine light came on AGAIN. Having had enough, I took it to a different mechanic who fixed the issue that day, and said that the previous place (Quincy Auto Center) had taken a "shotgun approach": basically replacing all the parts of the system except for the one that was actually broken. So again, to summarize, these guys are honest, but I think they were a little uncertain as to what the problem was, whereas a different mechanic identified the issue with relative ease. read more

There's no way to beat the quality, service and price here. The work is always done quicker than I expected and for routine services, they can usually get it done the same day I call. Just got my oil changed here for cheaper than Jiffy Lube, they did it faster than Jiffy Lube, and my car sounds like new!

I went there for MA inspection and I was told that my car is missing front plate. I never realized that I was given 2 plates and I used thin layer of both plates attached together. Quincy auto turned me down without giving me suggestion that plates can be two on rear. Sunoco gas on same road guided me about the same and told me that people do this a lot. Quincy auto guy is so inexperienced. Don't go to him. He is difficult to deal with. read more

I came here for a consultation after recently picking up my car from a collision repair shop (Perfection Auto Repair, Quincy) and noticing that it was making an unusual sound. The collision repair shop manager thought it was either rust on my rotors from my car sitting in the shop for over a month or that it's a sound to signal to me that my brakes needed replacement. I don't know much about cars but I had a feeling that it wasn't either of these so I took my car to Quincy Auto Center (QAC) for a second opinion. Si, the owner, listened to my description of the issue and told me that it wasn't the brakes that caused the noise. He offered to put my car on the lift so he could further diagnose the issue. Turns out my rear wheel was not securely tightened during the wheel & tire alignment done by the collision repair shop (with the help of Firestone on School St., Quincy). I was lucky my wheel & tire didn't come popping out while I was driving. So, the guys at QAC fixed the issue and the noise was no more. They were kind enough to not even charge me for the service. I continued doing business with them and I still have a very positive impression from the whole experience. I even got a follow up call a few days later after my service to see how my car was doing.
