I have suffered with androgenic alopecia and alopecia areata on and off since college with periods of it worsening but never quite fully going away since it began over a decade ago. This past year due to hormonal issues after miscarriage and stress it got far worse than it's been ever. I have used hair powder to cover it, done hair extensions, and every treatment imaginable medical and non medical but nothing works very well. I currently have VERY thin hair on top and missing spots around scalp. I have always wanted to have full, long, beautiful hair like I did back when I was a teen but it just seemed no matter what I wouldn't be able to. After a long time of considering I finally decided to see if a full weave may be a good option. I found Denise via yelp after looking through tons of stylists and decided she would be the best fit for me as I saw she did hair for women with alopecia as well as many different ethnic backgrounds and would therefore be able to braid me in a way that wouldn't hurt or damage my Asian hair. I had also seen her clients did not suffer hair damage from weaving and wearing weaves long term. After meeting with her we decided the best thing to do would be a closure and full weave, 3 bundles of hair. I have since has my closure adjusted as my hair grew and am amazed by how well I am able to comfortably wear so much hair and it look so natural at the same time. I could not be happier with the results and though it isn't the cheapest to maintain it is so pretty and I am relieved to no longer have to deal with messy hair powders and stressing over how I will look if I go through another worsening phase of alopecia. read more

Denise is amazing. When I first visited her in 2016 my hair was really damaged from relaxer after relaxer for nearly 10 years. By the time I met Denise, I two different textures of hair, breaks, split ends, and was trying to transition my hair back into its natural state. It definitely needed work, but Denise made my transition smooth! I didn't want to do the "big chop," so she gradually trimmed my hair over the course of the year and half until my hair was relaxer free. Now, I go to her to get my hair deep conditioned, pressed, and trimmed. My hair is healthier than ever and almost as long as it has ever been.
