The portions here are massive. Colossal. Ginormous. I haven't seen portions this big since...well, I don't know when! The star of the show here, in my opinion, are the collard greens. Next time I might just order 3 sides of them. The meet is also pretty solid, but all the BBQ sauces are waaaaay too sweet for my taste. Cloying and borderline unusable. The vibe here is touristy downtown Nashville bar, the kind where trains of women carrying inflatable phaluses are bound to be found. I have no complaints about Bristol Republic. Located in Short North, I was surprised by the available parking but we also came on a Saturday morning for brunch so it may be a different story at peak dining hours. We got the Brisket & eggs and the cowboy benedict. The brisket on both was super tender and I love their cornbread--a fun and clever spin on a typical eggs benedict. Also, their potatoes are perfectly crispy and salted. If I come back, I'd want to try their french toast with maple bourbon syrup. The staff was friendly and the entire restaurant was clean. Hots came cold and the colds came warm I ordered brisket, pulled pork and waffle fries, the warmest thing on my plate were the pickles, followed by the coke slaw. On attempt 2 ... the fries were piping hot, pulled pork came out a respectable temp, the brisket came back room temp, and the cole slaw showed up cold this time. I saw Bristol Republic listed as part of the Hilton Honors Dining and decided to check it out for dinner. I found parking on the street and just used the park Columbus phone app. I walked up and was warmly greeted and was directed to the bar where I placed a takeout order. I went with a 1/2 lb of PULLED PORK and a 1/2 lb of the 18-Hr BRISKET to take home. It was amazing and plenty for two to split! So delicious and I got an assortment of sauces. I tried the Alabama, Sweet Whiskey, House Bourbon BBQ, & Gator. The House BBQ and Gator were my favorites. Been following this spot on Social Media since before it opened and finally had the opportunity to check it out yesterday. The decor is very neat-looks like a rustic saloon with a dash of a speakeasy Whiskey bar. The live music stage is like a spotlight window for the artists, which makes it look like a pretty intimate music listening experience (no musicians were playing during our visit). Besides music, this place prides itself for its Bourbon & Whiskey offerings as well as food: it's safe to say that they didn't disappoint in those areas. The Whiskey offerings were numerous in their types (Bourbons, Ryes), as well as their rarities, with pricing ranging from below $10 to over $50. We sampled one of their appetizer, Buffalo Mac and cheese which tasted as- described on the menu and had good flavor. We also got their sandwich with smoked brisket, and their southern fried chicken sandwich . This is why I rated them only 4 stars: the sandwiches were flavorful...but very dry. Dry to the point where it gets hard to swallow a bite. I think if they added more sauce to their sandwiches, that might help. All in all, I believe that this place lived up to the hype, and I am looking forward to exploring it again read more

This country restaurant/bar specializes in all things barbecue and bourbon. Is there a better combination? Some could argue there is not. The decor on the inside makes you feel like you transported to Broadway in Nashville. We stopped in for an appetizer and drinks. We shared the loaded brisket tots -- tater tots, queso, brisket and bbq sauce. Seems simple, but it was absolutely delicious. I'm not kidding when I say it might be the best appetizer I've ever had. Sure, it's probably pretty unhealthy, but calories don't count on the weekend right? I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their menu. Our friends who love country music love to come here, and there are good artists, but we avoid Bristol as much as we can. It is frequently extremely crowded. I've been elbowed in the chest here while trying to get a drink and have seen multiple tense exchanges, which I assume is inspired by the close quarters and alcohol. The drinks are really expensive. Popping back in here to give a quick update on my experience at Bristol Republic and their new patio. I didn't really visit during the height of the pandemic but as soon as I noticed the patio while on a walk down High St. with a friend visiting Columbus, we both jumped at the opportunity. They don't have bottomless mimosas but a bottle of champagne was only twenty bucks. We ordered that and a few appetizers and a dessert. Our waitress was super sweet, everyone was in masks, tables were spaced far apart, etc. Drinks and food came out quick and everything was really affordable, and delicious. On a beautiful day in the Short North, this is a great outdoor space to enjoy food and some good old fashioned people watching. read more

The all you can eat bbq on Sundays is slept on! $20 is a great deal for bbq that includes beef brisket. I probably ate $20 worth of brisket alone! The sides aren't included, but range around $4, with mac and cheese being $7. The Mac and cheese was okay. Nothing special. Could be taken up a notch somehow maybe with onions or peppers? I'm not sure! Was lacking a wow factor. The meat was good! My favorite was the brisket and wings. My least favorite was the sausage because it came out cold. I was so full from everything else, I didn't bother asking for another one. I do wish you could try every sauce option they have. They unfortunately only let you chose two for free. We watched a table order the nachos, and they were HUGE. Definitely on our list when we come back. The crowd was a mix of all age and is more food focused during the day. At night when it's more of a bar - it's a young and energetic crowd. If you were drinking , they have some fun party and group drinks to try. Definitely give Bristol a try! I want to give this place five stars so bad! It was literally some of the best food I've ever had. I could not believe afterwards just how pleased I was. Friends and I had an array of things ranging from the Bristol Burger to appetizers of pickle chips and tater tots. But most of all the mac and cheese was the thing to write home about. We shared the buffalo chicken mac and piggy mac and cheese. The buffalo chicken is literally just buffalo chicken with mac and cheese and the piggy mac is pulled pork over mac and cheese. They were amazing and spicy! Just soulful goodness. It's so hard to put into words but I literally would just order it again next time because it was so good. It looks kind of small but it will fill you up guaranteed. The reason why they didn't get the five-star mark is because the place was so crowded and there were so many people wandering around without masks on. I don't know if the employees were trying to control the crowd but it didn't feel very covid-19 safe. Everything I expected it to be. Started with mimosas, great, and a nice size cup. chicken and biscuit - really good. The biscuit was crumbly, soft and sweet. I had been wanting to visit this place for brunch for months and it did not disappoint. We got the bottomless bloody Mary's and mimosas. Personally, I didn't love the Prosecco/champagne or whatever bubbles they used for the mimosas but at $20 for unlimited, you can't be too upset and the bloodys were great! Bristol has been a go to bar for my friends and I when going out in the Short North for a couple years now. It's a country music bar and they always have live music on the weekends. It's a super fun bar and is always poppin' with lots of people. They serve great southern style food like delicious BBQ & brisket as well offer a wide variety of craft beers/cocktails, whiskey, and bourbon. My personal favorite is the pulled pork Mac and cheese or the BBQ Cobb salad. You also can't go wrong with the Texas nachos & cornbread. The best thing about Bristol Republic is it's very nice deep stained cherry wood finish adorned with little touches of glass here and there and light that isn't burdensome. Very handsome and plush. Republic's food menu centers around barbeque so I got the Happy Hour $7 sampler of sausage and pork (I've never been a fan of brisket). While spicy and cooked just right, I wasn't really that fond of the taste. I know this because it was a literal chore to finish it and I just couldn't do it. The baked beans was a little bit better but I didn't finish them either. Finally, the service, on the surface, was very friendly and the waitress did check on me four different times after getting my food, but it was all a front for a thinly disguised annoyed attitude. I know genuine respect and friendliness when I see it and this wasn't it. The food really isn't my cup of tea and, with the help being what it was, I don't see myself coming back for a bite of food. This place is full of fun, tasty drinks and Bingo! I came for the Yelp Elite pop up Bingo Night! Yelpers can come in as the night went on and recieve a complementary drink and dessert. We had brought pennies, pencils and pens to mark our boards and sitting at the bar worked for me since I was traveling solo which was cool. People had long waits for full tables. No one wanted to leave! We got to enjoy some music and comedy as the MC made sure we stayed on our toes to get Bingo! I got myself and appetizer along with our drinks and sattled up for a good night. I explored it all! See below. Chicken and Waffles - The honey glazed "popcorn" chicken went really well with the waffles. The waffles tasted like a funnel cake! They were so yummy! Biscuits and Gravy - The biscuits kind of tasted like Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay biscuits and went really well with the gravy! Banana Foster French Toast - This was super sweet, but so good! I tore pieces apart and dipped them into my hot cup of syrup! Scrambled Eggs - Your typical light and fluffy scrambled eggs! Sausage Link - Same. Your typical sausage link. Bacon - The bacon was perfect! Nice and crispy! My daughter dipped hers in the thick whipped cream that was available. It was actually really good together! I really liked the whipped cream! Breakfast Potatoes - I paired these with the huevos rancheros! So freaking good! Huevos Rancheros - This was probably my favorite dish! I had two servings of it. It was THAT good! Instead of chorizo, pulled pork was used and it paired really well with the cheese, tomatoes, and cilantro! Delish! Smoked Ribs - These were fall of the bone ribs! They were nice and tender and had the most perfect smoked flavor! Smoked Wings - These had a great smoked flavor too, but were just a tad dry! The entire staff was awesome! Our waitress Maddie was super sweet and great! I talked to other staff members when getting food too and they were all amazing as well! Came here for restaurant week and was surprised how busy it was for a weeknight. We had to eat at the bar since they were booked with reservations, so keep that in mind to plan ahead. Overall, the food was really good! They have some good specials during the week that I would like to go back and check out. My only critique is how expensive the drinks are, even beer. Updating review to reflect changes that were made since we were last in! Brian, the owner, kindly invited us back to try the bbq buffet again. I previously called out that syrup was hard to get on your plate / food. They have since added in small cups to make it easier (and less messy). I noticed fans dispersed throughout the dining room as well. Unclear if these were here before or if they were added, but all the same they were appreciated! We tried out two new cocktails this time around... I got the blood orange mimosa -- it was good! My partner got their bloody mary. He really enjoyed it. Our waiter informed us that they changed the 'bottomless brunch' deal to be Bloody Marys AND Mimosas for $15, so you can switch back and forth between the two for the same price. I thought that was a nice touch. My favorite new thing was the upgrades to the waffle station. There are so many new toppings to choose from -- raspberries, oreos, pecans, white chocolate, bourbon butter, whipped topping, syrup... so many yummy combinations. I'm not sure if it's the norm, but they also had out 'chicken bites' so you could make mini chicken and waffles. VERY tasty, I went up three times for this... no shame. One thing I didn't love this go around was that they changed their biscuits for the biscuits and gravy. Good biscuit, but 100% meant to be more of a dinner biscuit. We went there for an early dinner and happy hour on a Friday. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we got there but slowly started filling up following 6 pm. If you prefer a less crowded atmosphere, happy hour is ideal. The location has two bars, one of which is primarily for whiskey. We started off by ordering cocktails and appetizers with the happy hour discount: waffle fries and grapefruit jones for everyone at the table! We chose this restaurant not only for the outstanding bbq reviews they have, but also for the vegetarian bbq options on their menu. Our server Celeste was very attentive to us and made sure we had everything we needed. I got the BBQ Salmon and Greens with potatoes, my friend got Brisket with Mac and cheese. We stopped in to BR for Happy Hour on Monday Night. There was a steady crowd but it wasn't too busy. We were able to seat ourselves right away. Our server was awesome. We were his first table but I wouldn't have known if he didn't tell us. He did a great job and we had all of our food and drinks in a timely manner and he was able to answer all of our questions. When I saw their bourbon selection, I was ecstatic. I saw a lot of my favorites for great prices. That being said, they were out of basically everything I wanted. I ended up trying their bacon old fashioned and it was SO good. Their happy hour specials are amazing. Half off drinks and great food specials. I got the Alabama chicken with a side of waffle fries. It was so good! I'm a sucker for collard greens and they made the perfect addition to the sandwich. It was huge, too! We were stuffed when we left. I also loved the interior of the establishment. I am from Kentucky and this place is country so I dig it. They play country music in the background but it is mostly covers of country songs so it wont stand out much to those who don't like country. I was there for a special event, so regular days may be different, but this is a nice spot. Service was super friendly, the bartender was knowledgeable, and the pork sliders were freaking amazing. Even the coleslaw was good (creamy but not heavy), and I don't usually like coleslaw.
