She noted some crowding and suggested a referral for braces to an orthodontist for further evaluation. After Dr. Hamood's examination, Alejandra proceeded with a routine cleaning and administered fluoride. Our visit lasted no more than 30 minutes. As we wrapped up, my daughter received a dental goodie bag, and we scheduled our next appointment for six months later. We decided to go with the family orthodontist, Dr. Hukmani of Lansdowne Ortho, with offices in Leesburg and South Riding, VA, whom we wholeheartedly endorse. My son and I were 10 mins late for an 1130am appt due to a transportation issue. The receptionist rudely informs me that because I didn't call everyone had packed up to go to lunch at 1140am. This is beyond ridiculous. It's 10 minutes and today is my only day off work to bring my son to the dentist. The girl with the valentine headband with heart ears had no empathy and was extremely rude. She is bad for this business. read more

My son has been visiting this office since he was 2yrs old, so 14 years now. What I've always found frustrating is that everytime we go, there's a new dentist. We recently visited and upon examination, they told us 2 of his fillings had fallen out. They were able to take care of him right on the spot. A week later I received a bill from them for almost $300 in addition to the amount I paid while at the office. I called Britestar to inquire, only to be told that the Insurance company denied the claim because they had already paid to fill those teeth. I was then told he had those teeth filled in Sept 2023 and because it was over a year, it was my responsibility to pay in full for those services. Imagine my frustration, as this should have been told to me before services were performed. I feel, since he's only been to them that they sbould have taken the time to review his chart prior to giving me the "amount due" at that time. I will not be returning to this office and plan to file a formal complaint with the BBB. A few months over a year and the 2 fillings a dentist installed fell out, which tells me your Dentist failed to properly secure them. read more

I've put off writing this, but every time we're at my son's new orthodontic practice, I remember how terrible the treatment was at Brite Stars. The doctor was only available on Fridays, so when something went wrong, like his expander falling out of his mouth an hour after being seen, it took a week ti get him seen again. We literally paid $5K for absolutely the worst care possible. It wasn't until I went to Hart Ortho proactive when the doctor ordered a specific imaging showing he needed to have 6, 6!, teeth removed prior to having his braces put on. Let me first say, the rudeness I experienced in my way out of Brite Stars was not to be believed. They had me talk to the most unprofessional...don't even know what her job was but to explain the finances. She could not explain why he would have to begin phase 1 of his Ortho treatment, another 5 grand but couldn't explain why the first round was ineffective and why we had to pay for their subpar care and follow up. I honestly believe I did more work with turning the expander than they ever did. The new Ortho guy was extremely rude and would not meet with me and "money" person to discuss his care. So he had oral surgery to remove the 6 teeth and began his treatment. This was malpractice to say the least. There is no way I would ever recommend anyone ever, ever bringing their children to this practice. I will be filing a formal complaint with the state licensing board. The pain my son endured after 24 months with this terribly run and executed business is beyond belief. read more

This pediatric brite star dentistry is one of the worse dentistry that I ever experienced, all the dentists and staff are always pushing me to keep bringing my kids for fillings , crowns , X-rays , fluoride and more....... to make money, it's all about business so they are like car dealership to push to sell and make money on innocent young kids's baby teeth. I use to be dental assistant myself for 12 years but we never did crowns on the baby teeth or never gave them laughing gas or took panoramic X-rays on their baby teeth, because the baby teeth fall in 2-3 years so why we put chemicals and radiation in their body at this young age. They did a very bad job on doing some fillings on my son and some crowns on my daughter, my daughter got gum infection and my son lost his filling after one week so they still push me to bring my kids for more work. Today was our first visit. It went amazing! My 3 year old son was so comfortable and relaxed during his cleaning. I was so proud of him. They talked him through each step of the cleaning. I normally do not go to this location. I was given an appt here not knowing it was at a different location. We drove to the other one and it was closed. I looked again at the text and looked up the address. It was different than where we were. I called to explain. They told us if we drove there and made it in 10 minutes that they could get us in. We made it and they checked her in. Then moments later we were told they would not honour the appt. I find it irritating that I wasnt told there was another office and they had me drive there to tell me to go home. We will be on the look out for a new dentist! read more

Went here for the first time with my 2 year old. I was looking for a good denist. As a military family I asked around. Got one place mentioneed several times but when I looked at their website I didn't like it. The reviews were great but with a two year old I was looking for a kid friendly lobby and where they go back to. I actually wanted rooms and their website showed one big room with no partitions. It actually looked like something oversieze. They didn't have rooms at bright stars either but with all the cool wall art and tv it made up for it. Now my only complaint was when you walk in it smelled like pee. Not sure if a dirty diaper was hidden somewhere but that's my only complaint. Overall my daughter loved it and we will be back. I had a positive initial experience with my daughter and reviewed it accordingly. That said, the subsequent visits were so horrendous, I found it necessary to update. The short of it- the were adding a custom made spacer for my very anxious child but were in a rush. The was struggling to keep the uv light wand (which sets the cement) turned on because none of the available were fully charged. They said it was set despite the issues. My daughter started crying and saying she couldn't swallow and that the piece was in her throat. The techs were dismissive until she became unable to breathe and I was able to get her sat forward and she coughed it out. Things progressed rapidly downhill from there. My daughter is completely traumatized from our experience with this office. She still brings up the experience each time we pass by the building. In the interest of brevity I'll end it there but with a final note, avoid this practice for young children and anyone with anxiety about the dentist. read more

Great Staff and Dentist! We were nervous about taking our toddler for his 1st dental cleaning today, mainly because this was something new for him and they're a lot of Pediatric Practices that have little to no patience with the Patients they cater to, our experience was nothing like that. Everyone was very friendly, the Dental Assistant and Dentist (Dr. Le) were fast, and thorough but without making us feel rushed, and when my son started to get squirmy (as most toddlers would) they didn't get irritated or impatient but were very understanding and playfully talked him through everything they did. And it was great my husband got to hold him through the whole process. We ended everything with a balloon, a toy of choice and a follow up appointment. Based off our experience, I would recommend this Dentistry to anyone with a LO or for a 1st time pediatric dental experience. read more

I switched my two girls over to this office even though there was another dentist's office much closer to our home. My reason for switching is that the first office would not allow parents to accompany their children back for appointments. I know that this is very typical for a lot of offices, but I personally feel that it should be left up the parents. After confirming that Britestars would allow me to come back with them, I made the appointment. The building was a bit difficult to find and, unless I missed something, they only have parking along the side of the street, but beyond that I have no complaints. The front desk staff were very friendly and they always got us back right at our appointment time. The Disney decor on the wall made my kids feel comfortable and happy to be there. Dr, Pham was very personable and great with my kids. I would have definitely stuck with this office had we not moved from the state. read more

When it comes to scheduling appointments and getting in and out on a rather "on time" basis...I've yet to be disappointed. :) The only "issue" we've ever come across is getting the insurance coverage figured out correctly...some things they think I'm not covered for, however after I verify with my insurance company myself I find out that it IS covered. Britestars has NEVER given me an issue when issuing refunds though...just takes a bit longer than I would like. I've found that it's just easier to verify with my insurance company FIRST prior to paying for services...to be sure I'm only paying for what I'm supposed to. That way I don't have to wait for the refund. Overall I'm HAPPY with Britestars. read more

The customer service from the receptionist here is absolutely horrible. I am surprised they were even hired and I don't understand why they are still there. My 3 kids had their first visit here today and we had a wonderful experience!!! My oldest had to have an extraction, it was quick and painless. The staff explained everything before they did it so he was completely at ease. My three year old had her first cleaning and the hygienist was fantastic. Arrived early and waited 40 minutes past my appointment for my 2 and 6 year olds to be called for their checkup/cleaning. We then waited another 10 minutes for the checkup/cleaning to actually begin. The dental techicians were FANTASTIC. But, as per Britestar rules, I then had to check out. Which meant standing in line for another 10 minutes. With numerous other pediatric dentists in the area, I will NEVER return to this horrendously unprofessional business. I have to say I am extremely surprised with all the negative reviews?!?! I came in with my sister and her 2 yr old daughter just for the support. The place was beautiful, clean and welcoming. We waited about 10 mins until the staff greeted us and took us to the back. I saw happy children playing with dolls, lightsabers all provided by the facility. This is a plus considering that I'm a mom and my LO would love this! Dr. Lerner came and spoke with us about the sedation and the procedure. She was extremely professional and informative in all we were comfortable. As we entered the procedure room, I notice the flat screen on the ceiling. Perfect!!! So my niece was able to watch Moana. During the procedure, Dr Lerner talked to my niece, while working so diligently. My niece needed four caps on the top front and they looked so wonderful! I will say this!!! This is not an easy job !!! Parents, it is so imperative to monitor your children's dental habits. Hats off to Dr. Lerner and assistants because this is work!!!! I took my 6-year old daughter for a second opinion at Britestars. A family dentist had diagnosed her previously with 3 cavities but Britestars said she had 6(!) They also said she needed 2 crowns and when I asked which materials they would use, the dentist got really defensive and said she was only trained with silver crowns and that's what she would use. Not only do I feel she wanted to do crowns on a barely 6-year old for the sole purpose of making money, but I would never have anyone put silver (amalgam) in my daughter's mouth since a contains toxic mercury. When I contacted their office for a copy of the x-rays later, it took 4 attempts (3 phone calls and one visit in person) to finally obtain an e-mail with the x-rays in an attachment. I was told they didn't have a printer that would make a copy of them and at first I was only provided with a grainy xerox copy of the x-rays. Bottom line: I am taking my daughter to another pediatric dentist who had actually been recommended to me and will not use Britestars again. read more

Upon my first visit I was very pleased, mainly because Dr. Lerner was awesome. Its seems the longer I stay with this office the worse the encounters become. The customer service in this office is horrific, the front staff is very rude. Its unfortunate that you have to deal with them first, upon walk in and then even calling the office for simple questions. I have been calling this office for over 2 weeks and I am always holding then after 10 - 15 mins I get transferred to a voicemail. I refuse to leave one because I am about 90% sure I won't get a call back. I have taken my daughter to Britestars a few times now for routine checkups. Everytime I've had to wait at least 15 min past my appointment time (even when she was the first appointment of the day). Every time, the hygienist is good and keeps my daughter happy. I haven't gotten a great feeling from Dr Pham previously, and today she crossed the line. My daughter has a somewhat loose tooth and was scared that the dentist would pull it. She started crying and Dr. Pham said "stop crying or I'll pull your tooth now." What????? Needless to say, we will not be returning and I encourage you to not go their either. read more

I am really surprised there are not more reviews for this place! I took all 3 of my kids here, ages 5, 3 and 2. And right away my kids liked it. Lobbybwas very kids friendly with bright colors, TVs, couches,big walkthrough play bus, and bead maze table. The back part is very kid friendly as well with cool light fixtures and TVs mounted on ceilings. My son had a filling done and felt so relaxed here. The assistants also give out toys to their patients for their visits. My boysnpicked out toy helicopters and my daughter picked out a barbie type doll. They went home with a toothcare goodie bag as well. Staff was amazing. Let me sit on chair with son for his procedures and talked openly with me about what they were doing or suggesting. Never felt rushed or brushed off. I am definetly gonna continue coming here. They also accept the state insurance as well as many others. read more

We went to this office for several years. The dental staff is great and always made my kids feel at ease, even when filling cavities. The front office staff, while polite, always seemed to mess up my insurance and would call me the day before the appointment to let me know my insurance was expired. I would need to tell them this happens before every visit, they must be referencing old insurance coverage, and to please call, again, with current numbers. Unfortunately this office stopped accepting my insurance, which I thought was pretty common, so we have gone elsewhere. If they started taking BCBS we would return. read more

I've been bringing my son here for two years and have never had a problem. The dental technicians have been nice and knowledgeable as have all of the staff. My son has always had a pleasant experience. I give it three stars because the waiting room is very small and often gets overcrowded, especially if a parent has more than one kid, as a lot of people do. I have been taking both my sons at this dentist facility and have been happy with the service that the doctors and technicians provide. It's unfortunate that I had to give a 1 star to them because of the very long wait times and the new office/billing staff of the orthodontics branch that handles the paperwork. They are just extremely incompetent and irresponsible. I have two insurances and they can't seem to bill my insurances correctly. They've sent wrong information on my sons file with another persons name. They provided wrong information at the initial consultation before you sign a contract plant or the braces and change it after which is very disappointing because if they've provided the right information I could have gone to another orthodontic dentistry to get my son his braces. The office staff is just remarkable difficult to deal with. I wouldn't recommend them at all unless they've changed office manager and staff. read more

I recently relocated from Tennessee to VA & I was in need of a new pediatric dentist for my son. The website convinced me that this maybe a great place to take my son for routine dental visits. From the pictures it appears to be very welcoming and inviting. After my son's cleaning & X-rays I was told he needed a cap placed on a tooth. He has porcelain caps on his front teeth that we paid extra money for in TN, they look like actual teeth. This location doesn't offer porcelain, so we had to go with a silver cap. I originally thought I was scheduling the appointment for his dental procedure with the dentist he seen for his cleaning. I was told not to let him have anything to eat or drink the night before after midnight, his appointment was at 8 am. We arrived at 8 am & was placed in a waiting room. At 8:45 we were told the dentist was running late & would be there soon. So now I have a hungry 4 year old whose cranky & just wants to eat. A hour passed & he was finally given the sedation medicine. The procedure started around 10 am and it was a different dentist who was going to complete the dental work. The only reason I agreed to get the silver cap placed on his teeth and done in the office was because the dentist who did his cleaning, a month prior, was knowledgable about what was going on & assured me that she would do it. When I spoke with the dental assistant she explained to me that the dentist I wanted to do it only works on Tuesdays & Thursday, it was a Monday. So I was basically SOL. When I made the appointment I explained who I wanted to do the dental work. I was very unhappy but by now my son was already sedated, so I just dealt with things because he was uncomfortable. Dr.Pham began the dental work. The procedure went well, I was able to sit in the room while it took place. Once the procedure was over the dentist left and never spoke with me about follow up care or anything. She left the office and the assistant handed me two pieces of paper pertaining to after care for the tooth. During his first dental operation in TN, after the operation the dentist gave me his personal number & told us to call if we have any problems. A few days later he called us to follow up, although we didn't call him he still wanted to check to see how things were with the caps & if I had any question. He set the bar high & I was definitely expecting a wonderful experience the next time. A week after his procedure done at Brite Stars by Dr.Pham, we were back in the office on 12/17 for a follow up. This time he was bleeding and there were blood clots around the tooth so of course I freaked out. This time we seen Dr. Holmes and she explained that this was normal, although the first time we didn't experience this or made aware of the possibility of blood clots while brushing. If Dr.Pham would have explained that and spoke with me after she completed the work, I would have known this and saved a trip to the dentist. Needless we are switching pediatric dentists. read more

I took my son here for his 6-month check-up. I was a little concerned based on some of the reviews I read on here, but decided to give it a try. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The practice is busy and does handle many kids with a lot of teeth issues, but they were professional and really showed concern for my son. I was a bit worried waiting on the dentist because he seemed to find so many issues with every child around us. I thought this can't be good, but he was genuine in his care and he wasn't just recommending unnecessary treatment. My son had a great check-up and we will definitely be returning. read more

In the 5 years that i have been taking my children i have never had an issue scheduling with them, they are very welcoming and my children enjoy going for to their check ups. Do not bother taking your child here!! The receptionists are absolutely horrible and need to learn what customer service is. I called 4 times and each time I was hung up on or the phone was picked up and left on the counter so I could hear her conversation with the dentist. Part of being a receptionist is having the ability to multi-task and these hourly employees have no clue what this means. Not to mention having the ability to answer the voicemail box and make call-backs. Heaven forbid your child has a serious issue and this office does not respond or try to meet your need. You are better off going to a clinic where the staff care about patients. Please train your staff or get rid of the horrible receptionists that you have. They are killing your business. Would be willing to bet money these good reviews that are posted and liked are the staff trying to deflect. My older son has been coming here since he was 18 months old, so just over two years now. The hygienists and dentists are always extremely nice, and they make him feel comfortable. The waiting room can be very crowded, and the wait times can be long, but that's the case with many larger offices that have multiple practitioners. Sometimes the administrative staff seem overwhelmed or confused, but I'm more concerned with the dental staff doing the cleanings, and they are outstanding. At today's visit, he and his brother saw hygienists Erica & Amber and a new dentist whose name I can't recall, all of whom were extremely nice. At the end of the visit my son gets to choose a toy from the treasure chest or get a balloon, and that's something that he always looks forward to. My 2 kids both have been here now. The environment is very kid friendly. They have murals of princesses and other Disney characters, TV's, and toys. As for waiting time, I've only had one negative experience, my wait time turned into an hour wait once (in 2015). But other than that, everything else has been ok. Doctors and staff are friendly. My last appointment earlier this month I was in and out. It was good but at the same time I question how well my kids teeth were examined. But my kids have great teeth so I guess it makes sense. We had been taking our two boys to Dr. Pham for the past 2-3 years and had relatively good experiences regarding their dental care. However, the same cannot be said for their office/billing staff. We recently took our younger son for a routine cleaning and were advised by the dental assistant that a fluoride treatment was recommended. We were reassured that the staff had checked that the treatment was covered under our insurance plan and we would not incur any out of pocket charges. A few weeks later we received a bill for the fluoride treatment which it turns out was not covered by our insurance. When attempting to resolve the matter, we spoke to a newly hired office manager who resisted all attempts to resolve the issue, prevented us from speaking to Dr. Pham directly, and rudely hung up on us during the call. Once we finally were able to speak with Dr. Pham (by having to personally visit her office), she was not receptive to resolving the issue nor the least bit interested in the fact that her staff did not provide truthful, accurate information. In addition, we had experienced previous issues with the office incorrectly billing our insurance for work performed. Had we been told that we would incur charges, we may have considered having the treatment performed and would have understood. However, this was not the case and there was no attempt whatsoever to their part to acknowledge error. This office looks very appealing to kids with all of it's children's toys, decorations, and warm atmosphere. In reality, it is a façade to a mismanaged operation with an incompetent staff that most certainly lacks good customer service/patient retention skills in order to squeeze every $$. Considering all of the other pediatric dentists in the area, I would not recommend Britestars. read more
