I found the experience flying British Airways within Europe vs international on first/business was divisive. On the inter-Europe flights the first class cabin was extremely cramped and claustrophobic. But then with the international flights (London to Rome and return) the first class was a dream. Along the way I got to know the flight attendants and really enjoyed our conversations. I found the attention to detail and presentation of the food and drink to be very elegant compared to say American Airlines first. The food seemed to be of better quality. I liked the individual seats with reclining beds. Very comfortable for a nice little nap during the flight. In flight entertainment was fairly good but selection can feel limited.

While I booked through American Airlines, my return flight was via British Airlines, and I had a fantastic experience. I was a bit concerned by check in, as I could not check-in or reserve seats until 24 hours before the flight. But when I could check-in, I was relieved to find seats similar to my flight in and priority boarding similar to my American status. I was a little confused about having a checked bag and they weren't checking any bags at the airport, so I carried my bag. Check in at the airport was easy. Staff was much more friendly than I am accustomed. The plane was beautiful, spotless, with little pillows, blankets and ear phone packaged up on each seat, like a present. The flight crew was amazing, friendly, professional and attentive. The food and drink were delicious and kept coming. We were served wine, beer a hot meal with dessert, treats, and a hot pastry before landing. The flight and landing were so smooth. I'll be flying British Airways every chance I get!

Update: we fly this morning. We are at our gate early. We had time to have coffee and breakfast before this step in our Journey.

7/17/2024 - Alright, I use BA to fly to San Diego, CA from London, England. First, the pilots and crew members are always great. The set up at BA is odd. One, their flight are always pending gate numbers until about an hour before hand. So you just relax somewhere in crowded areas hoping the gate number pulls up. So far on my 5 trips it is always gate B or C. I'm always told not to go there before the gate number because it can switch on you.

Flight I'm deeply disappointed, frustrated, upset, and sad about the events surrounding my flight today. This was supposed to be my long-awaited vacation after years of being in the pandemic. My partner's flight departed from the United States on the 25th and landed in London on the morning of the 26th. We had a connecting flight with British Airways (BA) to Rome at 2:00 pm that same day. However, we were completely unaware that our BA flight had been cancelled until we arrived in London. Since we're not from the UK, this unexpected cancellation means we're missing half of our trip, and we're uncertain if we'll be refunded for this late notice. At the airport, I tried to seek assistance, but I was informed that rebooking wasn't possible there. Instead, I was advised to find a hotel and contact BA customer service to figure out our next steps. It's disheartening because this is not only my first time traveling to Rome, but also my first vacation since the pandemic began and we had planned to connect with our family who already made it to Rome ahead of us. This was meant to be a special trip with my partner and our family. Adding to the frustration, after being told to call BA, our repeated attempts to reach them have been in vain. Out of the 20 times we called over the last 10 hours, only one person briefly spoke to us before hanging up, while the other 19 attempts resulted in automated responses asking us to call back later. Currently, we're stranded in London with all flights to Rome fully booked and no availability until Sunday, the day we were supposed to check out of Rome. Our subsequent destination is Florence, but we're unable to find any BA flights or alternatives that would get us there in time for our check-in. It's a deeply saddening and frustrating experience as we can't seem to get anyone to answer the phone or provide the support we desperately need. This situation has completely derailed our trip, and I can't help but think that others might be facing similar challenges. We were assured that we would be reimbursed for our hotel and food expenses, as well as receive a refund for the cancelled flight. However, the lack of response from BA and their unwillingness to assist us at the airport make it difficult to obtain the necessary help and information. It feels like an absolute nightmare, and I'm overwhelmed with sadness and frustration.

Canceled flight! 1 day later rebooked!

During the flight I tried to go into First Class to talk to my daughter and was stopped at the curtain and told I couldn't go past the curtain even to talk to my daughter. However, she was able to come back to the "cheap" seats and brought me some fresh fruit from first class which was a nice gesture. My seat mate slept the whole 10 hrs which made for a prefect flight.

Worst Airline Customer-Service Experience We Have Ever Had…read more Our Virgin Atlantic flight was canceled during the London air traffic control shutdown. I completely understand that the shutdown itself was beyond Virgin Atlantic's control. My complaint is about the almost nonexistent customer service and lack of support that followed. There was zero help at the gate, except being told to find a supervisor. The supervisor was dressed in plain clothes and nearly impossible to identify. Once we found her, she asked us to wait until boarding for another flight was completed, which was understandable. However, after nearly an hour, approximately 60 displaced passengers had gathered with no clear direction. We were then escorted outside security and placed in a queue for information. After waiting another 25 minutes, we were told to leave that queue and join the main customer-service line, where hundreds of passengers were already waiting. Keep in mind, we were traveling on Upper Class tickets. After another hour, that line had moved by only about 10 people. We decided to get out of line, return to the special Delta One area, and seek help from an Upper Class representative. Unfortunately, the representative was extremely uninformed and unhelpful. Because our tickets had originally been booked through Delta, we insisted that someone help us. Throughout the ordeal, Delta repeatedly told us to speak with Virgin Atlantic, while Virgin Atlantic repeatedly sent us back to Delta. We were passed back and forth while neither airline appeared willing to take responsibility for helping us. I travel every week, all over the world, on many different airlines. I understand that cancellations happen and that airlines cannot control an air traffic control shutdown. I also understand that, with seven of us traveling together, it can be difficult to rebook everyone. After four and a half hours, they were finally able to place us on flights for the following day. We were given Virgin Atlantic rebooking passes and told to return three hours before our flight. However, when we arrived to check in, we were told that five of us had been placed on a British Airways flight departing from an entirely separate terminal. Virgin Atlantic could not even help us check in for that flight. This added to the frustration, as our group was now split between two different airlines, arriving at two different times. The customer-service representatives seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Now, adding insult to injury, it has been four full days and our missing bag still has not been delivered. Virgin Atlantic says the courier has it. The courier claims they attempted delivery, but that is simply not true. We have a front-door camera and can prove that no delivery attempt was made on any of those days. Based on the email address used to contact us--Operations@eagleaviation.co.uk--it appears that Eagle Aviation is the courier currently holding our bag. After falsely claiming that delivery was attempted while continuing to withhold our property, it honestly feels as though Eagle Aviation has stolen our bag. We are now entering our fifth day without it and must continue traveling to other countries. Because of their failure to deliver the bag while we were still here, we could now be without our luggage for an additional 15 days. This is pure incompetence and completely unacceptable from companies of this size. Their "customer care" does not actually care for the customer. They say all the right words but accomplish nothing--either because they are unwilling to help or because their employees are given no authority to do so. Airlines cannot always control cancellations or the disruptions that follow. What they can control is how they communicate with and care for their passengers during a crisis. This was, by far, the worst airline experience I have ever had. Virgin Atlantic's response to an already chaotic situation has been disorganized, uninformed, and severely lacking in basic customer care. We are extremely disappointed, especially considering that we purchased Upper Class tickets and received virtually no meaningful assistance.

One hour on customer service hold ended with a disconnection. Another hour and 30 minutes reached a representative that said he'd transfer me to a colleague to sort things out. Over an hour waiting was too much. Went to the online site to cancel and request a refund but found the site is circular and you can never get to a cancellation or refund option. Stuck in the wrong country, I finally managed to withdraw my check-in for the flight I would be able to reach due to the first cancellation. After spending another hour on their (hideously poor) online presence and not being able to request a refund anywhere, I called customer service again. After 40 minutes I reached an operator that looked things up and said he would transfer me to the booking department to sort things. That just put me back into waiting with a message that says every minute "we will connect you to the next available operator", which, of course, is just another person that will transfer you back to the waiting line. So, not only did I not get a flight to my destination, there was no recourse to even obtain a refund for their mess. DO NOT BOOK WITH EUROWINGS!
