This is the terminal I landed in when I arrived to London from LAX and also the same terminal where I flew out of to go to my layover in Germany. Arriving here was simple and going to the custom agent was fine. Baggage claim was simple and going to the parking structure was easy. The issue I had was when I came to leave London. My flight was a morning flight at 6am so I arrived early at 3am to check in my bag with Lufthansa airline. But they don't open the baggage check in until 5am. So I had to line up because everyone was waiting and the line started extending. Once the bags were checked in, we now had to wait for TSA to open and that had a line. Then I had to take the long walk to get to my departing gate. The waiting area at the departing gate did not have a power outlet to charge your phone. read more

Heathrow terminal 2 serves Star Alliance including United, Thai, Lufthansa, Singapore and others. Security is well organized and expeditious each time I have been through. Inbound it was fully automated for US Passport and certain other countries. Once you clear security, it is a solid 15 - 20 minute hike to the United gates and club. Plenty of bathrooms and restaurants. Wide walkways and mining walkways if you prefer. 30 - 90 minutes (12 miles) to central London depending on traffic. Train is 60 minutes. read more

Tidy, efficient, and less cramped feeling, good signage and easy to get from A to B. Security was not an issue in terms of timing through to the gates. However security is messy in terms of understanding how to comply with the bins and how you are supposed to keep track of your personal belongings while complying with their rules. read more

LHR terminal 2 is nice. Great selection of stores and restaurants. Security went well with minimum wait. Nice walking area to get to the gate. Gate area was spacious. Surprising free magazines at my United airlines gate. Now the negatives. Sears were uncomfortable hard plastic. Very few charging stations, and many had plugs that didn't work. All in all not bad for couple of hours before my flight. read more

Always a good experience at Terminal 2 - but always before I have flown with airlines where I have status that gives me a nice lounge to enjoy before the flight. This time (Icelandair) no status so I just experienced the terminal like infrequent travellers - and still it is good I must say. They have upgraded the pre flight security process with higher tech since I last travelled almost 2 months ago. Quicker, much quicker - loved it. Leave your shoes on (they electronically inspect them after - and leave everything including liquids and computer in you carry on! read more

Heathrow is larger than it looks. Take heed. After you pass passport control and the security checks you enter what looks like a mini-mall with shops and restaurants. The this is the best place to wait for your gate number to appear on the screen. BE AWARE that it is a deceptively long walk to Queen's Terminal 2 from the waiting area after the security check. Give yourself plenty time for the walk. read more

The newly rebuilt Terminal 2 is a vast improvement on what was previously there. But beware, it's big, and you will put in a lot of steps from first entering the front doors to the time you get to your gate, especially if you're in the satellite terminal reached via a long escalator ride followed by an even longer underground tunnel. There are plenty of shops offering "Duty Free" but prices are typical for an airport rather than being some place to pick up a bargain. There are a number of Star Alliance member airline Lounges, all of which offer decent selection of foods, but I found were limited in their drinks. For Lounges in the UK I'd expect them to at least have a cider available. read more

The technology is not up-to-date. They don't make you take out anything when you get past security however their machines are not advanced enough to actually do that. Every other person is stopped and has their bag check my mother packed a GLP one case and they were very concerned as to what it was it was a GLP one case they made me take my shoes off and my shoes are sneakers if you are going to act like you have advanced technology, then either have the technology to back it up or just let us take our computers and other stuff out like the other airports do. The terminal itself isn't the problem, it's the location. It's about a 15-25 minute walk from the rest of the airport. So beware if you are at all hungry, or looking to buy anything, buy it before you are there. There is absolutely no place in this terminal. read more

Flying out of Heathrow at 6am. When I checked in, it said boarding closes at 5:10 , so I got to the airport at 2:30. It's a nice terminal but it Doesn't open until 3:30, so I'm just waiting with the other 30 or so people who got here too early and had no clue. The employees show up to work at 3:30, Security doesn't open until 4:25. I've never been to an international airport that was closed... guess there's a first for everything. read more

The terminal itself could use better signage, it took a while to find where I needed to go and a lot of the staff aren't super helpful. Once you do find a helpful worker they are great but until then good luck. I will say the electronic things where you check in and print boarding passes are great and easy to use. read more

There is nothing likable about this terminal. God save the Queen! It's a mess at check in. It's a mess at screening. The shopping is a mess. Not much to eat. British food is the worst. Boots have sandwiches which aren't bad. It's a 25 min walk to the B30s & B40 gates where most of the US flag carriers park. Not a fan. Fly to Gatwick or Manchester if you can. read more

Assisted with cart transport thru Customs. It was a breeze. However, to take Heathrow Express the walk is so long. Luckily they have transporting walkways that do the walking for one at times. Definitely needs to improve disability assistance for those that use some mode of public transport. read more

Terminal 2 is the International hub for the most part. The 2013 renovations are holding up very well. It's nice and airy and you can feel comfortable navigating around Heathrow. As mentioned in a separate review of Heathrow, this Terminal is easily accessible via the Tube (Elizabeth Line) as long as you don't mind the longer walks. Bag Check can be an ordeal for certain international flights. However, if you're flying certain airlines, take advantage of its bag drop shortcut program. Just declare your checked bags during check-in on the mobile app and you're set. It'll save you TONS of time and you can get to security in a breeze. United has mastered this quite well and there are effectively no lines at all. Security is mostly a breeze too. Unlike our US counterparts, they do a better job dividing the lines into smaller groups so that people can breeze through security easy. I had a 12pm flight and got through security in minutes. I arrived about 3 hours early, but only because I spent time eating breakfast at the Plaza Premium Lounge. General primer on LHR Terminal 2 is that want to spend just about all your time on Level 5 (the top floor where you just completed security) or Level 4 (the downstairs area with the shops and the large concourse. The Plaza Premium Lounge is on Level 4 and it got a bit busy because I presume all the people from connecting flights were in here too (and those with Amex Platinum cards). But spend all your time on these two levels. Why? Because there's ABSOLUTELY no reason to go to your gates before 20-25 minutes in advance of your boarding. In fact, Heathrow intentionally designed their departure board not to mention your gate number until 20 minutes before boarding. Intentionally done - commercialism! (even though United and other airlines tell you your gate number beforehand anyways). There's nothing to do at your gate unless you have access to the United Club or the Singapore/Air Canada club. If you don't, then stay in the main concourse because once you go down the path, you can't return. Otherwise, generally a solid airport as long as you don't have a million flights departing at the same time. read more

Yesterday I flew from London to Los Angeles, and when I was walking through security I lost my global entry card. And started freaking out, I ran back to the 5th floor where I had thought I left it in the gray bins that go through the X-ray machine. I ask a gentleman weather they found my card, and he took it upon himself to start season for it. And ten minutes later he reappeared with my card. Needless to say he made my day. We were unfortunately in the position to visit several of Heathrow's terminals in one day as we were stuck flying standby unexpectedly. So we transferred from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2. This is a "smaller" terminal by Heathrow standards but it's still plenty big. Since we transferred from within the airport, we came in through security a different way. But we did find it generally to be fine, with less of a shopping mall feel and more of an actual airport feel. The service counters for all of the airlines are all clustered together in one area, which can be helpful but also can be a really crowded space. Also notes for Americans: Depending on your airline and your class of ticket, you may be flying standby without realizing it. So do check and make sure you check in for your flight as early as possible. Sometimes it makes a big difference! Also they don't make as many announcements overhead as they do in the States, so just know that they won't be paging your flight if you happen to not make it on board. read more

I can't give you much of a detailed review as I used this terminal for the first time, but I still want to share a few tidbits which might be useful in your travel. I arrived to the terminal on the flight from Greece to connect to the United flight going back to the US. The good thing is that United operates from this terminal so you didn't need to walk for ages to get to the United gates. But - there is an extra security between arrivals and departures in the same terminal, so keep it in mind if you are connecting and would buy a liquid in duty free, this will cause a problem, as this is a standard security checkpoint, no liquids allowed. Security checkpoint was using some new X-ray machines which require you not to have anything in your pockets - I had a tiny paper receipt in my jeans pocket, and was yelled at for this. Once you pass security, you need about 15 minutes to reach the gates, so all in all you should assume 30+ minutes of waking at a fast pace from the moment you will deplane, and the airport was not busy at all on Saturday - it might take you longer, so plan accordingly. read more

I landed at the Queen's Terminal as I was flying into London on a recent trip to the UK. Since terminal 3 is currently closed, I believe a lot of flights are being redirected to this terminal. Overall the terminal and it's staff were nice and pleasant, and the wait in the immigration line wasn't too long. I was waiting about 30 minutes in the queue. The terminal connects nicely to the London Underground station so you can be on your way into the city fairly fast. read more

I prefer Queen's Terminal 2 to Terminal 5. Terminal 2 is smaller (fine by me) in Heathrow's terms, a bit easier to navigate and quieter, more relaxed, not as crazy. The restrooms were cleaner in my opinion, bigger, nicer. Sure, the food options are that great, but the terminal is easier to conquer and browse on foot. WH Smith has a few locations here, great place for drinks, snacks, souvenirs and books! It does take some time to get to your gate and the Airlines check in counters open later in the day (after 12 pm for Air New Zealand) but I find it better than Terminal 5. You still go through security (again!), so make sure you have enough time between flights if you change planes here. I had an easier time relaxing here. More laid. Had to go through LHR airport on the way back to the USA. My first flight came from Zurich with a stopover in LHR. My recommendation for anyone that has stopovers from one country to another, make sure it is at least 2.5 - 3 hours long for the stopover. When you arrive through LHR, you have to go through security checkpoint first, and than they transfer you to passport control checkpoint, from there you move onto your connecting terminal. Luckily, our flight was delayed going back home, because just to transfer from my original flight to the flight going home took almost 1.5 hours to travel through. And this was during a time when it was extremely slow. So I could only imagine what that time would look like if it was a busier day. read more

Flew out of this terminal as was using TAP to fly to Lisbon, for Easter vacation. We used the Purple Parking service, and got dropped off right by the elevator bank to this Terminal. So then it was just a bit of a wait to get on an empty elevator that was heading up to the 5th floor, where Departures is located. Basically this Terminal is for all the United Alliance Flights so pretty easy to spot which Airline you have to go to for baggage drop. Before heading thru customs and security, I went to use the bathroom. Those were pretty cool as the loo stalls have lights above then, and an empty one will have a green light lit up. Also there are hand creams available! Unfortunately, I reckon they needed more cleaners coming thru as two of the initial stalls I went to didn't have toilet paper. Anyway, we were at the airport right around 1pm on a Thursday before the Easter break and the security line wasn't too shabby at all. The staff had a good flow going on, with 4 lines opened and I think I was thru in under 30 mins. Once inside, we walked around the airport area a bit, and there were tons of great shopping & food options but we headed to the Plaza Premium (Priority Pass) Lounge. I have used this terminal on a number of occasions and it's a well organized terminal with plenty of options for relaxing, shopping and dining at the terminal. It's a relatively easy terminal to get around with lots of check in desks and well organized security points. It took a few mins to get through the process to get to the gate area and it was very efficient. Plenty of dining and shopping options about and it's a well laid out terminal. This is my first time in Heathrow's newest Terminal 2, where United Airlines fly into and out of USA. I deplaned and thought - this doesn't look anything like Heathrow, and I don't remember having to walk so far to find the baggage area. I've come to Heathrow already twice previously within the last couple years. The terminal is sparking clean and have the usual high-end shops and restaurants. Security was really fast. I do recommend coming here earlier to relax and do some shopping - it can be tough if you're rushed and need to rush to the gate. If you happen to be flying United Business Class, there is an amazing club lounge waiting across from Gate B46. I will review that lounge separately. read more

Wonderful terminal with a fair number of food and drink options with very friendly service staff. The resting areas are pretty poor but that's why you hang out in the multiple restaurants and bars and cafes. We fly to Europe from OC twice a year and we make it a point to have an extended layover at Heathrow and we always end up at Terminal 2. We enjoy the simplicity of selection and are pleased with the quality and service. We don't need a flood of options. We just want good coffee, properly stored and poured Guinness, and something easy to eat that doesn't bounce if you drop it. The people who work in Terminal 2 are also friendly outside of the lounge areas. The check in and ticketing staff have always been very helpful when dealing with over-sized luggage and upgrades. Efficient, clear, and conversational. Bathrooms are also nice. Happy travels! read more

Perfectly easy to get around if you pay attention and keep your wits about you. We found the line we needed, got help checking our bag, and for some reason were whisked to the priority line. No idea why. Got through security easily, again, we followed the rules exactly while some poor little Chile ahead of us kept setting off the alarms with her hair clips! Apart from the painful and long walk from Heathrow express to your gate, the Queens terminal is very clean and has good amount of shopping and food options! The gates are very convenient, well numbered by groups etc. especially on the United Airlines gates. It's just getting those damn gates that makes the experience a bit annoying! read more

This terminal is much better than some others at Heathrow. It is smaller and so it is a lot less painless to get through security than some of the other terminals at Heathrow. There are also good food options here which can be a problem. I also appreciate that there are two Boots locations so that I can buy my migraine medication before getting on my flight (and anything else that I may have forgotten) along with water or a quick snack. Check in is normally a breeze as well. In sum, a thumb's up from me. read more

Terminal 5 used to be the shining beacon of Heathrow with the other terminals playing second fiddle. I fly United and T4 or whatever United was flying into for years was a total dump. Enter the new T2 and I was blown away. It is big, beautiful, modern and has plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you occupied. There is also a United Club in T2 that is probably the nicest United lounge I have ever seen. As mentioned above, there are plenty of things to do to keep you occupied, but be careful as this terminal is huge and if it is your first time there, you might find yourself dawdling and then realize you have to run the length of 10 football pitches to get to your gate. Hats off to Heathrow for creating another airport terminal worth spending time in. read more

The Queen's terminal is one of the nicest I've ever been in. As loyal Star Alliance members, lately all of our flights have been out of T2. It's a bit hit or miss for me, so we'll call it just OK. On the plus side, it is brand spanking new. The United lounge here is incredible and I actually look forward to awaiting our departures there. Screening has a conveyer belt along the bottom to return bins that you seem to always wait for at other airports. If you feel like shopping or eating, buddy you've got loads of options. Sadly, this terminal still has problems. It feels like it was designed to be more of a luxury mall (is this European thing?) than a highly functional airport terminal. You will walk forever to get to and leave your gate. After a cross Atlantic flight you can expect to take a nice stroll for a good 15 mins before arriving at passport control. Elevators, escalators, moving walkways and it still takes a looooooong time. Taxi rank is a joke and doesn't flow at all. No, vest dude, I'm not your mate and I don't need you to point out that I as the next one in the queue and the arriving cab were meant for each other. read more
