First of all, the girls are the sweetest and I'm such good friends with them now. And even during the program, they were understanding of what I wanted to achieve and they eased me into the whole process. They don't rush you, but provide you with a lot of support to move forward. Really wonderful bunch of people and would highly recommend them. Couldn't thank them enough for helping me get over the fear of water, and now I love being in the water. I remember the first day of class, I was terrified of the water and the thought of floating seemed impossible let alone ever being comfortable being in the deep end. After 3.5 months, I can confidently say that I feel comfortable swimming in the deep end and now perfecting my freestyle all with the help of all the amazing instructors. My primary instructor has been Rowan who I can't speak more highly of as he is so passionate in teaching and does everything he can to make sure you have the proper form and technique. One of the things I appreciate most about Rowan is that he would often mimic what I was doing to understand the cause and effect of my mistakes, which helped guide me toward correcting them. Because of this, I was able to understand why I struggled with different strokes--it really is all about learning to relax your body and become one with the water. Today was my last class with Rowan, and honestly, it was one of the best. We focused on keeping my chin down, my head underneath my arms, turning my palm upward when taking a side breath, relaxing my head to the side, and fully extending both arms for an effective side breath and freestyle. I am going to really miss my classes but so happy that I am now able to float, tread water, jump into the water, do backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. I highly recommend the classes and so grateful for this experience. Thanks again Rowan for being such an amazing instructor and also to Eddie for teaching me the beginning stages of butterfly and for his passion to teach as well!

As an adult learner, I had a very good experience with British Swim School. They operate out of…read moredifferent pools mostly either in hotels or gyms. This one is out of 24 hour fitness in San Mateo. The facility is okay. The women's locker room is not the newest or the cleanest but the pool is long enough for laps. The British Swim School uses one lane and the other two are for gym members. It gets the job done. I didn't learn how to swim as a kid so it's something that I have on my bucket list for years. I finally decided to work on it. I picked a class and signed up on their app. It was very easy. If there are any questions, you can chat with a staff also on their app. They're usually pretty quick to reply. It's easy to manage absences and make up sessions. The ratio is up to 4:1 but I've only been in one class with 3 other students. They're usually very generous with supplying teachers when available. I've been in classes where there are 2 teachers when there are 3 students and they can easily send a teacher home to save money but they don't. The teachers are usually young adults. I've work with several different teachers in my few months with them and they're all very nice and knowledgeable.

About a year later, during a tryout at PASA, he was placed into PC-4--the highest level for pre-competitive swimmers. That result really reflects the strong foundation he built at Flying Fish. They are located in a residential neighborhood and the only downside is the parking. Naturally, the residents do not want people going to the school to park in front of their homes and tend to leave their garbage cans etc. out on the street so get there early to find parking. The club itself does not have onsite parking. I looked at their website and called them because I could seem to be able to create an account and Joe, who answered, was very helpful. It turned out that I needed to use a different browser. The price is $140/month with a $45 one time registration fee. There are no makeup classes, which is also a downside. The pool itself is clean, with instructors in every lane. There were 3 kids assigned to the instructor that day with a max of 4. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable. There was one point of contact who was evaluating the swimmers and providing instructions. There is plenty of space for parents to hang out during the half hour class or you can leave but they ask that you stay close in case of an emergency. There are showers and loaner swim goggles and caps. They are close to the Cabana Club pool.

No other reminders or emails sent before classes that started mid June. My daughter missed the 1st four classes as they had started right after the end of the school year, and I couldn't remember when they started. I tried calling Swimming Swan with no success. While I understand that I am at fault for not remembering when they would start, it would be nice to have some sort of reminder before they start or at least receive a call when students miss the first class of their session. I think some sort of a reminder is standard with most good businesses. The worst part was that I asked if there was something they could do, such as let her join classes that weren't full or giving us a break on REC swim, but they had ZERO interest in making customers happy. I understood them not giving me a refund, but they could do SOMETHING. The classes my daughter was able to attend were not even worth half what we paid. One of the instructors was very nice and good with kids, but the class was their highest level of group instruction labeled advanced and the program given to the teachers didn't even include having them swim across the width of the pool once, and the kids spend most of the class waiting for their turn to practice swimming. Overall, it felt more like a beginner class. Do yourself a favor and sign your children up at the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center if you're interested in getting them into group swim classes. Worth it, even if you have to drive approximately 20 minutes to get there from Gilroy.

The second session was better, but the teacher disappeared at the end of it so the new teacher had to just try to figure out what everyone was doing. Third session, they just cancelled on us the day before due to "low enrollment". That's such poor business practice. I'm sure they will still have the instructor at the pool for the next lessons thirty minutes later so I'm not sure why they can't accommodate the class. I was so excited to find out my daughter could take swim lessons close to home, but it turned out to be a busy. She still doesn't know how to swim and we are out a couple hundred bucks. Sucks.
