I went in and was immediately greeted and asked how I could be helped. Sophia found the perfect fit for me on just the second try! She measured and installed my cleats for me as well. I'm new to road cycling and recently purchased my new ride through a specialized online bike dealer. After receiving the bike, I quickly started doing 20 - 40-mile rides to get familiar with the bike. After experiencing some neck aches during and after my long rides, it quickly became apparent that I needed to get my bike sized with somebody who knew what they were doing. YouTube videos could give me tips and pointers, but that was about it. I went to Britton's Bicycle Shop and had a GREAT experience. I called them in the morning for an appointment, and they were able to squeeze me in for a standard 2-hour session for $200 later that morning. The session included answering any questions, giving me pointers on body posture and positioning, and putting my bike on a rack stand while I was pedaling to make the necessary adjustments to seat (primarily) and handlebars. In addition, I purchased some clip-in shoes, and simulated several training rounds of clipping in/out at imaginary stops. The fitter's name was Andrew. He was very knowledgeable and very patient. He spent over 2.5 hours with me to ensure I was comfortable and confident with the new adjustments (no additional charge). I enjoyed my experience and have no regrets paying the $200 for the fitting. Not only did I get to know what a proper fitting feels like but left their shop more knowledgeable and confident in cycling. Self-righteous, neglectful, and unprofessional.  Please read before you decide to do business with Britton's. I took my rear derailleur to Britton's for a warranty replacement. I dropped it off on August 21st, 2023. The next day, I got a text from Britton's saying the SRAM representative looked at it, and they would text me when they got a response from SRAM.   Three weeks later, I called Britton's to check the status of the warranty claim. I spoke with the repair guy (Rick), and he said that SRAM hadn't contacted them yet and that he would call me back when he got a response.   One month and one week later (September 27th), I called again.  This time, sassy Rick was rude.  He answered the phone, and with no hello or appropriate greeting, he said, "This is for the rear derailleur,  I told you I'd call you back. It's not in our hands. We'll call you back. " I said, "I hope you understand my position. It's been over a month, and there's no response or communication." He then says, "Well, understand our situation. It's not in our hands." "Is there anything else you need?" "I'll call SRAM and call you back." He never called back. I decided to take matters into my own hands and called SRAM, and I spoke with a representative (Joel).  I explained my situation, he checked my claim, and he said that they were waiting on Britton's to answer some questions via email on the warranty claim: date of purchase and estimated usage of the derailleur. He said that until Britton's responds to the warranty claim questions, they can't issue a replacement.  The SRAM representative (Joel) said he would call Britton's and explain how the warranty claim process works.  Two days later, September 29th, 2023,  I got a call from Joel at SRAM. He informs me that Britton's has not responded to his phone call or email (Jimmy nor Rick responded). Since it's been 2 days with no reply, he was going to have his representative pick up the rear derailleur and send it to the Trek bike shop nearby. Britton's has been in business long enough to know that warranty claims don't take months, and not replying to customers and businesses is unprofessional.  Instead of trying to help their customers, get them back on the road, and assist them with their issue, they chose to be neglectful, unprofessional, and self righteous.   If how you are treated after the sale is important to you, do not do business with Britton's.  There are lots of bike shops in San Antonio that provide great products and quality customer service, avoid Britton's. read more

Stopped by the shop today to get a minor tuneup and a D Rehler adjusted. They could not have been friendlier. In fact, the guy did all the work on the bike. And didn't charge me anything. He told me to come back later when I had something more difficult for them to work on. Or if I needed a bike to keep them in mind. I will buy my next bike from the shop. Very friendly. read more

I recently visited Britton's just needing to put air in my tires. A woman greeted me and I asked if I could get air in my tires. She said that all they had available was a manual had pump. I thought that stranger because they usually use a pressure pump to put air into the tires. To my rescue one of the techs said he could help me and in about ten seconds I had air In both tires. That was great customer service. When I told her that I didn't need a bike adjustment her attitude changed and would only offer me to manually pump air into my tires. Came to bike shop to fix a flat tubeless tire. Mechanic attempted to fix and after 15 or 20 minutes, no success, an older gentleman (using term loosely) came to try to help. His response was, it's an old tire. Tire has about 1000 miles, less than 6 months old. I replied, it's not an old tire. Guy seemed offended and handed me the rim. I asked him to put it back on my bike. Left shop and went to sun & ski, my original option, but because I live in stone oak, I decided to go to Britton's. The team at sun & ski fixed it, explained why tire is tricky to sit on the rim and done. Not rude, capable and effective - better experience than Britton's. My bike is a Cervelo and I'm glad there is another dealer for this brand other than Britton's. read more

I was in town for a conference and needed a bike to get in a long training ride. The staff was extremely helpful setting me up before I arrived. Unfortunately, though, the bike was not of the quality I would've liked for a long ride. A great benefit of renting from Britton was they deliver. For $20, they brought the bike right to my hotel in the River Center and did some basic fitting. They picked it up just as planned for another $20 and were very helpful since I couldn't remove my own pedals (yes, my husband tightened them too much). I would definitely rent from Britton again, but would hope to get a higher quality bike for long rides. read more

I have been going to this bike shop for a couple years now and I've been regularly impressed by the quality of service and the caring of the staff. I feel it's important to support small businesses particularly bike shops as they have been going away. Sometimes this means paying a higher price, but honestly at this shop the prices have been extremely reasonable if not cheaper than what I can find online. I called and made a reservation to bring my bike in for a tune up since I was going on vacation in a week and since no travel due to Covid I wanted to at least get back into bike riding and keep myself from being such a couch potato. I was quoted 5 days. Took my bike in and No one in this shop was wearing masks when I went there about a week before Memorial Day. Dropped off my bike and they said about a week. No one called after a week and so I called on the 8th-9th day and it took a long time for them to come back to the phone. They came back and said that it should be ready soon. No call after a few days. I called again and this time the guy started asking me to describe my bike... so then he says that my bike is ready. I go pick it up and the guy says that the bike had been ready for a week, (A WEEK!) and they didn't know the owner of the bike because they lost the tag on it. I wonder how that happened... Not only is this place over priced but they seem to not have a good process in place to stay organized. Won't be back. read more

After purchasing my bike in May, I started fiendishly riding. It seemed like every ride prompted a new question. I wanted to get connected to other riders. I wanted to start upgrading components. I started going into Britton's over and over and over. It has now been over six months. In that time I have travelled across Texas and Oklahoma riding. I always stop in at local Bike shops when I travel. I have quickly seen a lot of different approaches, chains, and owner operated shops. I have run into many mechanics that knew what they were doing and many that didn't. I have been mislead for a sale. I have been treated like I was a bother. All of that being said, I truly feel blessed to have stumbled across Britton's first. I am so glad they are my go to store. They never try to sell me something I don't need. They are generous with their time and patient with customers. They genuinely love what they do and it is obvious. I have also come to realize that they are intimately involved in the community. Unbelievably poor service! Brought bike to them for tune up and repairs weeks ago. Called to check the status and was given a response of waiting on tire and tube and cant provide you an ETA. Drove up to check on bike...it was sitting outside unlocked and nothing has been fixed or even started yet. I get that business has been busy due to the recent surge in biking due to COVID, but have the decency of being honest with your customers...it will help you build your brand vs. you just become another business people will avoid due to your poor service reputation read more

After my back tire went flat during a ride, I noticed the stem was missing from my tire and it was flat. I brought my bike in not knowing if it was a quick or lengthly fix. The gentleman in the repair shop said it would be quick, if I'd like to wait. Sure, if it's quick! Everyone was so polite and friendly. The lady behind the register engaged me in conversation about bike groups in the area, and the gentleman repairing the bike, not only repaired the tire, but also said the chain was dry so he added more oil at no cost. This is the second time I've been to this shop and both times have had excellent service. read more

I brought my YT Jeffsy to this place after receiving a ridiculous quote form bike world. Bike world states I needed new brake calibers and I figured they were full of it so I seemed help elsewhere. I dropped off the bike two weeks ago and stated I needed an adjustment on my bike chain (newly acquired) and a brake bleed (hoping to potentially fix the brake issue). After a week or so, I never received a call back when I dropped off the bike. I called the store and they stated to have lost the original ticket. They were able to fix the issue but I noticed the price was a bit high for the work I requested. The owner of the store told me they replaced the chain (without my permission, mind you it was literally a month old) although I only requested an adjustment given the tuneup bike world performed. The owner was nice enough to eat the cost even though he seemed a bit frustrated. I ended up finding the original ticket and had exactly what I requested. I would have given it a five star review but if you're going to do something nice don't be petty about it and at least shake my damn hand without tearing up the ticket and walking away from the counter. I appreciate the gesture though and will be going back for future services and purchases. read more

So... I'm unemployed. Which has given me the time I always needed to fix up my road bike to ride... in the middle of summer. Yay. But, really! I'm happy about this! Britton's is family owned (from what I can tell - dad and daughter working, super friendly staff, and customers who know everyone's name). They're super helpful and friendly, and although I don't know much about bikes, I told them my budget, and by no means did they try to rip me off or sell me unnecessary bike bric a brac. They have a riding club on Tuesdays and a mailing list - yay for social interaction! Also, for you cheapos out there - I know how you think!! I have zero income and am not excited to go around spending money right now, but let me tell you something I learned about bike stuff: I went to Academy to be a cheapo and buy an "affordable" bike pump. Well, they have two brands, both of which I've used and are made of plastic and evil. I bought one anyway, got it home, and proceeded to pump up my tire HALFWAY before I gave up entirely. It was like wrestling an alligator. Just spend the damn money and buy a nice one! I bought a great pump for $35 that works without effort and even has a gauge. I heart Brittons. They also rent bikes and have some seriously fancy gear + knowledgeable staff. read more

I was staying at the JW Marriott a few miles away and had a few hours of free time during the first morning of my stay. I was hoping to get out for a 2-3 hr ride. I called Britton's the day before I left and asked them if I could rent a bike and have it delivered to the Marriott on Sunday afternoon so it would be there for a 7am ride on Monday. They agreed and said no problem. Arriving at the hotel very late on Sunday night, I asked the hotel staff where I should go in the morning to pick up the bike. They said the lobby, so at that point I thought I was good to go. I woke up in the morning, geared up, and headed to the lobby, only to have the staff tell me there was no bike at the hotel. Turns out Britton's never delivered the bike. They did, however, remember to charge my credit card. I called once they opened (10am) and they were apologetic, refunding my money without a problem. For those of you who travel and ride, it was a big wasted opportunity. The lesson learned- if you're renting a bike from Britton's make sure to call and double check the delivery. read more

I had spent the better part of a day visiting different bike shops in the area, just looking for advice on saddles since I my current setup was not working out. When I arrived at Britton's Bike Shop, Jimmy was the first one to greet me and I instantly knew that he had a wealth of knowledge. After talking for a while, he suggested that I bring my bike in to try out different saddles in the shop -- I gladly jumped at the chance. This is the first bike shop that I've found in the area which would let me test out saddles on the spot without having to go through the hassle of haphazardly buying one based on some clipboard measurement of my sit bones, installing it on my own bike, and having to return it if it didn't work out. I returned the following day with my bike and Jimmy spent almost 1.5 hours with me. He went over my basic setup to make sure that my body positioning was correct, answered all of my newbie questions since I've been operating on an "ignorance is bliss" mindset for the past year and a half, and let me test a variety of saddles. For each saddle that I tried out, I would give him feedback on the overall fit and level of (dis)comfort, then he would take that information and select a new saddle. We went through 3 or 4 different saddles until I found one that didn't hurt, fit well and suited my needs. After testing out the saddle for a while, Jimmy showed me my overall pedal efficiency and pointed out a dead spot at the bottom of my stoke that I should work on. He gave me some pointers which increased my overall speed by 2mph and since I've been trying to train for an Ironman, he changed up my seat position so that I was in a more tri/aero position on my road bike. Even though Britton's is a little bit out of my way, they've certainly earned my business for life. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've been visiting SA bike shops for years and recently was able to have some work done at Brittons on a high-end road bike. They performed a component group swap, a bike fitting and a few other misc items. All of it was done with great professionalism and speed. The shop has a huge selection of road and mountain bikes with a focus on TT, tri and great road bikes. The owner has years of experience as both a technician and racer so you'll get honest advice at any level of experience. If you are a racer or serious rider, this is the shop for you. On the other hand, they also carry a reasonable selection of commuter, hybrids and other machines for those who are getting into cycling but want to start off on the right foot. I was most impressed with the fitting services. They will guarantee the right size frame, bars and other components so you have a comfortable pain-free ride even after hours in the saddle. Locally owned and operated. They have some serious bikes. If you need to get your biking shoes custom fitted, they have the machines to do this, where they can melt the shoes around your feet. I've never seen anything like it. They offer world-class road bikes. In fact, they're mainly road and racing bikes. They don't really have too many mountain bikes. They do have a neat selection of retro bikes, which I always love browsing through. They have a great selection of gear, which is for serious riders. The prices are high for the casual biker, but if you're a serious rider, this is one of the few shops that actually knows what they're doing on some of these ultra-expensive road bikes. They have a machine that you set your bike on, and pedal, and they can make all the adjustments on the fly. Incredible. Most other bike shops, you tell them what they want, they eyeball your dimensions, and try to fix it in the back of the shop. Not here, they work on it in front of you so you can keep a close eye on what they're doing, and how. The service is friendly, and professional. They do offer a social aspect, it's a great place to find out about upcoming races and rides. I appreciate that. read more

I highly discourage anyone trying to buy a brand new bike from buying at Britton's Bicycle Shop. You are way better off buying online or at another store. The customer service and treatment from the owner Jimmy is mediocre at best. It is a shame that they represent respectful brands such as Bianchi and other high-end bicycle brands. Back in April 2021, when I decided to buy a Bianchi Oltre XR3, I chose Britton's because it was the only store in San Antonio that sells Bianchi bicycles. As a birthday present my family put a deposit of $2000 towards my Bianchi bicycle. In April, I decided to go to the store and place an order paying 100% of the cost of the bike ($4500+tax). Ernesto was the one that sold the bike to me. When I purchased my bicycle, Ernesto promised me that he would keep me posted on the bike's arrival, which never happened. Given that the pandemic had affected the availability of bicycles worldwide, I knew it would probably take a while. However, I never heard back from anyone from Britton's to update me on my order. I had to call almost every month for four months straight to check on the order. The bike never arrived in those four months, so I decided to look for other options somewhere else and found a bike at another store, which delivered the bike in 10 days. I proceeded to cancel my order at Britton's, and since Britton's failed to complete my order, I expected a full refund of my deposit. When I went to get my deposit back, Jimmy was extremely rude to me, almost offended that I would not buy the bike from them. He asked me if anyone at the store had let me know that they would give me a bike that I could use while the Bianchi I had ordered arrived, and I told him that over the four months of me calling, nobody informed me of that. I told him I wanted the majority of my deposit back and that they could keep some of the money for a fitting and other equipment that I wanted to buy, and he proceeded in telling me that he didn't want to keep any of it. However, he did end up keeping about 3% of my deposit, according to him, a "non-refundable" credit card fee. However, nowhere on the receipt from my deposit stated that they would keep a credit card fee if a cancellation occurred. It was evident that Jimmy was upset about me cancelling my order and buying a bike somewhere else. I am very glad that I did not buy my bike from Britton's. After several years of buying equipment for myself and my family from Britton's and recommending the store to others, I will make a point to never shop at Britton's again and to recommend to all my friends and acquaintances to avoid buying anything from them. Jimmy has taken for granted his customers and forgotten the basic principles of providing good customer service and proper communication. read more

She spoke to Jimmy, the owner, and expressed to me "what a good feeling" she got from him. I went to visit to hear more about it, and sure enough, the place radiated with helpfulness and sincerity. Spent over $200 getting bIke tuned up, only to return home and find one of the tires was flat and the odometer magnet was missing. When I called to let them know about this I was told "yeah, we got a bad batch of inner tubes ." So how many "bad inner tubes" are you going to put on before you either get a new batch or start checking to see if you've put a bad one on? How can you tune up a bike and not make sure the odometer works after you've changed out the tires? Sloppy as hell work. read more

Moved from NYC to San Antonio and went to Britton's looking for a shop which stocks something besides the usual Trek, Specialised, Giant, Cannondale line-up. These guys had a tremendous inventory of bikes from top manufacturers (though slightly less mainstream) . I was particularly impressed with the brands they carried (very tech and design forward) and with their ability to configure bikes to a comfortable price point for the customer. I really think this is one of those places where the experience of the staff creates a massive intangible value for the buyer. Great work guys. read more
