After weeks of asking me to bring her to dinner at this restaurant, I finally surprised my wife and brought her here for Valentines. I should of known better. It started shortly after making a reservation on OpenTable. I got a call from the restaurant asking me to call back to confirm the reservation. Sheryl needed me to call her back. I did, however had to work thru the hotel to get connected and then left her a VM. I panicked and made a second reservation at Blue Corn Harvest. Made it on time and was seated properly. Manager looks like he was on it. Very nice and attentive as were the other employees (water, runners, working bees). We were not informed that for Valentine's Day there was a smaller dinner list. Was pushed into getting the $79 three course meal. My wife had to ask the waiter to bring us the adjusted menu. We didn't get the three course offering and instead chose other items. Steak was good but pork shank was horrible. Cheese tray and cheese curd appetizers were good. After cocktails, we decided on a bottle of wine. Waiter was prompt, but never offered for us to taste it. He simply poured us both. New restaurant, so no problem. But then when I went to serve my wife more wine, had to peel the foil off with my hands as he had not used a foil cutter. He simply pulled the cork out thru the foil. As much as my wife wanted to come to this restaurant, she commented while leaving "I guess it's a hotel restaurant, so not what I expected..." For the price, and service, do not recommend folks go to this restaurant. Instead you should stop at BB's which is 100 yards before the hotel. My husband and I sat for 20 minutes and never received any service. No even greeted. I spoke to the hostess to bring to to her attention and she apologized and said that she would get someone to our table immediately. We watched as the wait staff stood around talking and glancing our direction but not one person ever came to our table. We made the mistake of coming here yesterday. Something has changed in management and drastically for the worse. It was busy as was the hotel but this restaurant looked woefully understaffed and not managed. It took twenty minutes to get drinks and only then after I went to the bar myself. Our table's server was MIA. We waited another twenty minutes for the cheese board appetizer that never received and was as MIA as our server. We couldn't even find him to cancel our orders as we walked out. Interestingly there were always two or three staff members at the host stand the entire forty-five minutes we wasted here. This restaurant is inside Georgetown Sheraton. Convenient location and excellent ambiance. This is up scale dinner in a comfortable surroundings. You could dress up or just wear jeans and boots. The food was excellent! I highly recommend the Filet of Beef, basically a filet mignon. In addition, please do try the Tortilla Soup and Charcuterie Board. They were outstanding! The Tortilla Soup has slices of avocado, corn, tomatoes, but nothing overwhelming to the actual soup itself. When in Georgetown, Texas, this may be your best opportunity for an upscale steak dinner. Came for breakfast last Saturday morning. Party of 5. Bad service, nearly inedible food. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, our server indicated they were out of croissants. So we changed and asked for something else. Again, had to wait forever. Really? A 15 minute wait just to pull a muffin off the rack? Virtually everything came out ice cold: bacon, eggs, toast, etc. The only thing that was hot was the blueberry muffin. It was cold on the outside and incredibly hot on the inside-obviously microwaved. One in our party chose scrambled eggs. I seriously think they just scraped out what was left over from the buffet and it also was ice cold. And while I'm at it, $19 for a buffet this modest is WAY overpriced. After a slow start staff-wise during their first 6 months with a consistently under-achieving staff but always great food, Brix has improved it's delivery of Tasty 'Not Hotel Food' with service that is more often excellent then meh, depending on which server you get. Every few weeks I have to satisfy my French Toast Cravings with their absolutely splendid dish, and it leaves me amazed every time. Very nice brunch buffet, cheap only $25 a person and well worth it. Got here at 11 and was eating by 1110. Great choices from breakfast to lunch. The fresh sliced brisket was great and the pastries and mini cheesecakes went great with coffee at the end. Will definitely come again. Breakfast is high dollar for the food received! Eggs were over cooked, and the potatoes were greasy and undercooked. The coffee was fine and free flowing though. The service was attentive and friendly. They offered a breakfast buffet but at $19.00, it was a no go for me as I couldn't have eaten enough food to make it worthwhile. I ate supper there the night before and it was fine. Our service was fine but the table next to us had lousy service and their first server went home without letting them no or closing their tab. WOW. You know when a restaurant can actually make an amazing salad they're going to just kill everything else. I'm not a salad person, but we were staying at the Sheraton and decided to try Brix & Ale's grilled Texas Cesar salad w/ grilled chicken. This is the best salad, and actually one of the best meals, I've ever had. They grill the Romain lettuce and tomatoes and the char, smokiness, and flavor it adds is super good and unique. The croutons are actually crunchy and flavorful instead of soggy and bland. The grilled chicken is so smoky, flavorful, and juicy. It really completes this salad. And their Cesar dressing is so good, not like the bottled stuff you get at the grocery store. We've eaten so much good food in Georgetown, but I'm going to leave craving THIS salad! I will say it was pricey for a salad and for the size, but the flavor really made up for it. And the staff was super friendly and accommodating. read more

Four Sun City residents went to an afternoon movie at City Lights. There was a video ad for Brix and Ale before the movie. It said "bring your paid receipt to the movie for a free appetizer". So after the movie the four of us headed to Brix and Ale. We ordered four of their "signature drinks" and were told that the movie ad was supposed to have been taken down and that promotion no longer was available......after we had ordered two appetizers. The manager put the weight of the bad news on the poor waitstaff and was not even able to "comp" one appetizer. Very poor management all around. My husband and I have always enjoyed coming to Brix and Ale. That's why it was an easy choice to come here to celebrate our anniversary. The entire hotel staff that we came in contact with were so sweet and congratulated us on our celebration. The food was amazing as always. I love the grilled artichoke appetizer, for dinner I had the Filet of beef and my husband had the Red fish they were both tasty. Today was the 2nd time I've had lunch here. I was looking forward to it because it was so nice last time. Our party of 3 went at 1:00pm and there was just a handful of guests. We were seated immediately & got water. After ordering, we waited about 30 minutes for our lunch of salads. I ordered the lunch chopped salad with chicken but no chicken in the salad. The waiter did make it right. He didn't refill our water, we finally had to ask. The salad was bland & disappointing. The squash soup was very good. What a joke - doubt they have a real kitchen, I imagine a bank of microwave ovens. In spite of this, and with just 3 other tables with customers, it took nearly 1/2 hour to bring our order out. On this website there is a picture of their tortilla soup - my wife ordered it and received a thick paste - NOTHING like the picture, almost no chicken at all. It looked like something out of a can - a condensed soup that was still condensed. 2 soggy tortilla chips sitting on top. NO garnish. I had Ahi tuna - a square of tuna, clearly something they bought already made and they cut it in 2 (albeit diagonally, for style I guess). The accompanying (tiny) salad was dripping wet, I could taste apple, but not any fennel. These VERY small dishes + an order of fries - no drinks - with tip @ $48 - way overpriced for such mediocrity. Pity because this is a LOVELY hotel with great rooms, manned by charming staff. All this is crazy because other restaurants within 100 yards were packed with a 35 minute wait for a table. These guys are missing a huge opportunity. There is a reason this was almost empty at peak lunch-time. No doubt in my mind that the hotel manager either has no idea this is going on- or it isn't important. No chance at all that we would ever go back. read more

I've been waiting to review the Brix & Ale restaurant since they've opened with a great deal of hope. This is the 3rd time our Friday night dinner group has been here - we really love the fact that we can make reservations. The decor is beautiful & the staff is friendly - we've had Aaron as our server twice and he's always been very professional. I've stayed with the "safe" option of the Brix & Ale burger - it's good. I love the idea that Georgetown is expanding and bringing in new food establishments. Now for the unfortunate part...initially we thought the team just needed to work out the kinks so we gave the place a 2nd try & then tonight - the 3rd try. Every time we have been here, there has been issues with the quality of food for several of our dishes... Cold Fries, dry grits, bland gulf seafood stew. Tonight was probably the last time we'll give this place a try. The guests in the restaurant were competing for bar & food service with other events scheduled this evening. Everyone except the restaurant was priority. Our server did his best but was spread thin which is why this is 3 stars instead of 2. If the management does not get the staffing right & consistency with the food - they will only have out-of-towners as their customer base & will be missing out on the huge market potential with Georgetown residents. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted promptly and sat at a table by the window. As we sat there we were surprised to find the restaurant empty, a few people did arrive by the time we were done dining but nothing that we are used to. Not sure why a reservation is needed. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly; we ordered the salmon & double boned pork. The salmon is a must have great flavor, now the pork was very dry and as you could see it was put in the oven too long as my carrots & spinach were burnt. The carrots & spinach were very salty. We order dessert and this was very good. Warm Lemon ricotta donut holes with a dipping sauce. The coffee is rich and strong which I do appreciate a good cup of coffee. Would we return, yes but I would not get the pork this time. read more

We were so happy to find a nice option in Georgetown. We took our two little ones for a special meal out for an early Valentine's. Our service was outstanding and the food was excellent as well. We had shrimp and grits, parillada, two kids meals, a cookie skillet, and a couple of drinks. The waitress (wish I could remember her name) was very sweet with our girls, and very friendly and accommodating with us as well. The shrimp and grits came with several large shrimp and some blue corn grits. The waitress did prep me that they weren't "typical" grits and I'm glad she did :) My husband thoroughly enjoyed his parillada and commented that it had a good variety of fresh vegetables. My girls loved their cheeseburgers and the almond skillet cookie was just right! We already have plans to return and look forward to trying their brunch one weekend. read more

Decided at the last minute to try this place for brunch today. Parking is easy with the garage and out front. Took the stairs down, beautiful hotel. Found the restaurant in the back corner, hostess was friendly. Put us in the back near the windows, views of the trees around the park. They have a limited menu for brunch or the buffet ($25). A few things looked good - chilaqueles, etc. but I'm a sucker for good burger. Wife ordered the buffet and I got the burger. Buffet was usual assortment of sausage, bacon, eggs, omelette station, etc. Lots of desserts out as well (we didn't try them, but the little girls nearby seemed to be enjoying them). Bacon was thin, pretty greasy but OK. Had a nice selection of roasted root vegetables, but they were very underseasoned. Had some nice looking brisket but turned out it was ice cold, which makes for bad brisket. She did really like the omelette. The $8 bloody mary was well made, but the "bar" was pretty weak. Made with fresh sliced/chopped veggies but not pickled which made them less interesting. Got the burger made with brisket/chuck and green chiles. Burger comes out huge stacked with thick sliced tomatoes and crisp lettuce. Burger probably a half pound and incredibly juicy but underseasoned. Bun brioche style and was fine. Got a side salad, but had big chunks of cucumber which wasn't my speed but the blue cheese dressing was good. Service was mostly good, but disappeared shortly after we got our food. I think we'll be back but I don't think we'd do the buffet again. read more

Eeek.... I really was hoping this place would impress. Beautiful ambience and friendly staff. We ordered the venison and Kobe meatballs as an appetizer. The sauce was good, but the meat was dry and tasteless. For my entree I ordered the filet medium. The filet came out well done. If you're paying $36.00 you would expect to receive what you ordered.
