4 stars for the space and ambiance. 3 stars for the food. Just had lunch here with some co-workers. I'm not a big bread person, but the complimentary bread was nice. Little rolls with a swipe of butter. JL ordered the grilled veggie sandwich and she enjoyed it. LC's shrimp, avocado and bacon tripledecker sandwich was also pretty yummy. My chopped salad was a bit of a disappointment. Me: I think my salad is supposed to come with chicken. Waiter: No it doesn't, but do you want to order chicken? Me: Um, I don't want to order chicken because it already comes with the salad. Waiter: No, it... Me [politely interrupting]: Can I see the menu please? Waiter grabs menu and runs back to the table: Your salad is supposed to come with chicken!!!! He brings my salad back with cold diced grilled chicken. Not so tasty. The cup of clam chowder and fried calamari appetizer saved my meal. My lunch total: $20. Hohum, gone are those $1.50 full entree meals and fresh mango shakes I happily gobbled down in Cambodia. It would be easier if they just served better food. The menu is poorly designed and it shows. Like, really? Fancy skins? Your fancy skins are hard russet potatoes, barely filled will mediocre toppings including the previous night's uneaten prime rib. Your prime rib is not good. As soon as it arrived at my table I knew I sabotaged myself. It looked disgusting. It was wayyyy too salty and slimy. There's a top notch prime rib joint a block away - go there. The Caprese flatbread is just sad. I make better flatbread at home. Soggy and flavorless. The firecracker shrimp is lazily put together, bland and boring. The shrimp weren't deveined either. Save yourself the calories on all these appetizers. Pasta is pretty basic and barely sauced or seasoned. How hard is it to toss the pasta in a nice lemony sauce? Everything seems to lack effort and zest. Even the chicken is just meh. For the price and location I would expect better food. Especially if you're pushing prime rib with high end competition steps away. The desserts were the most depressing. Ordered the cheesecake xango. Described as rich and smooth cheesecake rolled in a tortilla, deep fried and served with ice cream. Gross. It's an oily tortilla filled with cream cheese. It was not sweet. The filling didn't even slightly resemble cheesecake. My husband ordered the brownie with ice cream. Kinda hard to mess that up right? Seemed the safest of the dessert choices. SURPRISE! It was terrible. The brownie was hard as a rock. You could break your teeth trying to eat that. Like I said, it would be easier to cook better food - not recycled leftovers. Though the decor is nice there's a noticeably weird facade of "fancy skins". I get why people like this joint - for the live music and performances. All of whom are very talented. But if you're sitting next to a speaker be prepared for it to get LOUD. Service was good. I appreciated the continuous flow of beverages. Wow, I am somewhat perplexed by the negative reviews, but perhaps Brunch is a better experience? You know when you are out of town on business and you just want to feel at home somewhere? That is how I felt when I walked into the Broadway Grill. The restaurant is very inviting and the live music beckoned to me. When I stepped in, I was immediately seated by friendly staff and the atmosphere is great. The live music was a welcome change to the drone of the freeway outside my hotel room. Immediately the Waiter asked for my drink order and immediately I ordered a bloody Mary which was tasty. I had selected a few different items from the menu and asked the Waiter what he thought would be best from my list and he suggested to go with the crab (real) eggs Benedict. Shortly some yummy cinnamon little rolls showed up as well. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the second bloody Mary as much as the first and the crab Benedict was plate licking good. Had a grand date night with my hubby. He had the mussels that were the best he had ever had. I had delicious scallops and the garlic biscuits were very good. Bottomless mimosa review... This place is okay, we have been here nine times. Every time but once that we've come here, we came for brunch to maximize on the $14 bottomless mimosas. $14 bottomless mimosas is GREAT for this area. HOWEVER, we realized today it really depends on the server. We have been waited by the girl for brunch most of the time, and she's great, she keeps your mimosa filled. BUT this time we had to ask the guy waiter for refills. Also, the food, apart from one of the burgers is bland and mediocre at best... You have to purchase an entree for the bottomless mimosas. I know I know, we sound like rich spoiled people from Burlingame/Hillsborough, but no, we recently moved to the area and travel a lot. Moral of the story, if you're going for bottomless mimosas on weekends for brunch, ask for the girl server who wears her curls on top of her head, and TIP HER WELL PLEASE. read more

Came here for dinner last night with a party of 15 for a friend's birthday. I'm going to make this short and simple: Service sucked Food was blah Entertainment - oy No one in our party had ever been there before and it was a recommendation from a friend's boss. I checked out the website before to check out the menu which seemed pretty diverse with decent prices. I saw they had live music so I was excited for that also. None of us were expecting what happened. Live music? More like in-your-face, burst-your-ear-drums music. Singers dancing around the dinning room and getting in your face to drip sweat on your food. Me thinks not. It was so loud you couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to you. It's a restaurant people, not a cruise ship. In summary, don't go here unless you want to put on some beer goggles to dance with middle-aged-saggy-bottom women. read more

A friend and I decided to go grab dinner here one evening. I had walked by many times and heard the live music and smelled the food and was really looking forward to giving it a try. We walk in and put our name on the list. We waited about 20 minutes and were seated. The first thing I notice is that while the live music is awesome, the acoustics of the building make it impossible to hear my friend sitting right across from me. Looks like I'll be Broadway Grill's 200th reviewer (or, at least, the business listing claims there are 199 reviews as I'm writing this one)! This is another instance where Yelp and I simply disagree, and I'm rather surprised by Yelp's low ratings of this establishment (only 2.5 stars at the time of my review). I had a great time here tonight, and the food was just exceptional. Let's go ahead and give it a full review, though. I came in earlier tonight, and the restaurant had a very nice feel to it. High ceilings with red velvet curtains. Black and white photographs of Broadway and New York Times Square, going back to the 1940s. A marble counter-top bar. Nicely set tables with white table clothes draped over them. The entire restaurant looked and felt very nice and comfortable. Motown music was playing from the speakers of the restaurant, and although I was there too early for the live band, placed above the seating area of the restaurant I could see where the drums and guitars were setup, prepared for the Motown Monday live band, Pure Ecstasy. From the bar, you can see into the open kitchen, where three men were busily preparing customers' orders for the evening. I could hear them talking to each other in Spanish, no doubt taking seriously their food preparation and making sure that each person was doing his part. Service was exceptionally friendly. My server was very polite, and outgoing, happy to help me out with the menu and my order. The chefs on the other side of the open kitchen even let me know how far they were along in the preparation process! Just wonderful customer service all around. Before my entree came out, a bread basket came out. The presentation of it was very nice; it was a cone-shaped bread basket that stood tall, with a faux vintage London Times newspaper lining the basket. The bread was placed inside the "newspaper," and was an excellent buttery and herb biscuit. A really good start to the evening! For my entree, I ordered the filet mignon, which (like their other steaks) came with a choice of sauce: either peppercorn, port, roquefort, or a fourth choice that I've forgotten. I went with the roquefort, as I'm a big fan of blue cheeses, and their sharp flavors. The steak itself was exceptional. Tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned. An excellent flavor, and an excellently prepared steak. If I could offer a minor criticism, though, it's that the roquefort sauce wasn't nearly as good. There was nothing that really brought out the sharpness of the blue cheese, and the sauce was rather boring as a result. The steak tasted a lot better on its own than with the sauce, and the sauce took away from the naturally good flavors of the steak. I ended up not using the sauce at all at the end of the meal, and just enjoying the steak flavor all by itself as it was exceptional! Minor criticism aside, Broadway Grill made for a wonderful outing. Nice, relaxing ambiance, friendly service, and exceptional food. What more could you want? read more

Hmm.. Where should I start, we went for brunch, they weren't open on time, and when we got seated and asked for coffee, the coffee was cold! We ordered our food, and the waiters never came around to ask if we needed anything, we were the first ones in the restaurant, and the waiters weren't even around to give us refills on our coffee! Our food took forever, a guy who came after us got his food before us, and when we got our food, the potatoes were cold, and I was served an avocado with my dish that was so hard, and not ripe at all. When I asked for a another pieces of avocado, he went to tell me all the avocados were like that! They finally managed to bring me ripe avocados, but at this point I already lost my appetite. I live in Burlingame and want to support local businesses, but this was bad service, and I was very dissappointed with the food! read more

Several months ago we were in Burlingame for the night before an early morning flight out of SFO. We went to the quaint little downtown area and quickly yelped for a great dinner spot. We picked wrong...because we didn't pick Broadway Grill. What a mistake! It was our second choice. ( We went to Broadway Prime and for those of you who have ever been to a cafeteria you can get a good idea of what that dinner and atmosphere was like! Don't make our mistake!) After having our very disappointing dinner down the street, we decided to stop by for dessert and an after dinner drink. What a good choice. We were seated at a lovely sidewalk table. Across from the table was a window with a direct view to second level stage, where a jazz duo was playing. Our waiter came out, Everett. Took our drink order and recommended some desserts. We ended up with the bread pudding...warm, sweet (but not too) and absolutely delish! As we chatted with Everett (your manager should give you a BIG bonus...) we explained how disappointed we'd been in our dinner selection, especially as we were smelling the wood fired steaks...oh yelp...you led me wrong! Well, we decided to come back this last weekend when we were once again overnighting at the airport. I waited to write this review knowing we'd be back soon It was a quiet Sunday evening, so no band. This time, our waitperson Rhonda, couldn't have been sweeter or more attentive! (Whoever does the hiring here is right on-good job!) We enjoyed a couple of specialty cocktails skillfully made (Orange75, highly recommended ) and some of their more comfort food items to complement a cooler evening, Chicken Pot Pie, Macaroni and Cheese and Meatloaf. The Chicken Pot Pie was creamy and delicious with a perfectly browned puff pastry crust, the macaroni and cheese was good, but had some watery areas inside the macaroni-overall, not bad-and even better left over. My husband ordered the meatloaf. It was rich, too rich for me, made with beef and three kinds of sausage. His review was it was ok. We again enjoyed the bread pudding. Rhonda was great, giving us recommendations along the way and checking on us several times. The people at the table next to ordered steaks and couldn't quit commenting on how good they were, and they looked delicious. Next time, and there will be a next time, we are going for the steaks and on a night when the music is going. Four stars because I think the pricing a tad bit high, the food is good but has such potential to be great. Here I am, 5 years later! I got the Athena burger as a bowl/salad- without the bun. It was GNARLY. It was slimy and wet. No really, it really was. Three out of the other four people I was having lunch with got a crab sandwich. All of them were surprised to see a middle layer of bread (like a club sandwich), and barely any crab. I was so looking forward to the opening of this restaurant. I finally went to dinner there and was sorely disappointed. *You walk in to the foyer to a huge staircase in the middle of the restaurant. There is only a 1/2 bar with about 5 barstools. *The menu is kind of crazy as well. Not alot of variety and the drink list is right in the middle. Only one potato dish is available when you order a steak unless you want fries instead (which I have to admit are quite tasty). I had to send my steak back twice and since the rest of my dinner partners were finished I just ordered dessert. The owner was quite apologtic and comped our dessert and whatever else we wanted. * The location used to be a bank back in the day and I kind of felt that they didn't change it much. The restroom is in the back corner and kind of right there for everyone to see who is waiting in line. To cap it off....I guess I just don't get the staircase. With the intention of grabbing a simple Subway sandwich for dinner, we made a snap decision to try out Broadway Grill as we walked by. It was so over-the-top decorated for the holidays that we just had to check it out. On a winter Sunday night, it was surprisingly full and festive. After getting sidetracked by wee biscuits that dripped with butter, we both settled on the 10oz Prime Rib. At $21, it was strangely less expensive than some of the chicken or pasta dishes... so why not go for it! No more than one unexaggerated minute later, both our plates arrived. Which, at that point, it's really hard not to think about a slab of meat being slapped on a plate with a piped dollop of whipped potatoes and the day's steamed veggies. The meat wasn't mouth-wateringly flavorful or tender; the potatoes and veggies were both bland and lukewarm. Overpriced for the quality of the food and service, Broadway Grill's main selling point is the atmosphere. A great corner location with live music almost every night. But, from a restaurant that is doing a great job selling itself with entertainment, the food was certain lacking interest. I'll still try and stop by for breakfast or lunch of these days and hope for better fare! read more

This place is a joke and the empty dining room tells the entire story. We saw the commercials and the reviews then decided to try it out. The bar got the martini's right, the appetizers were on the mark and even the sweet potato fries were good. Then it gets bad. The ribs which are permanently on the menu were not available. So I went to the old standby, Prime Rib - MEDIUM RARE. This massive chunk of overcooked meat - cooked MEDIUM WELL - with some pink colored Au Jus to make it appear as if it might be medium or medium rare. I cut all the way through into 3 sections of it hoping for some pink meat. Nothing. I showed the girl, she agreed. Brown all the way through. No pink whatsoever. None. I sent it back and figured after no ribs and screwing up prime rib in an empty restaurant, I would cancel the order. No big deal. Every kitchen has a bad night. Then the FOH Manager had the BALLS to come up to me with no apology for screwing up and admonished me that "they all looked at it and the prime rib was pink throughout." Unlike those jokes you hired to shovel fries around, I went to cooking school AND make steak at home regularly and you have the nuts to scold me that it was pink inside? Balls of steel and brains of butter on this one. Unlike the fry cooks you have working the line there, I know the difference between MEDIUM RARE, MEDIUM and MEDIUM WELL. That tripe you people tried to push off on what you thought was an unsuspecting diner was MEDIUM WELL. Shame on you for no apology, no class and zero skills in your kitchen. This place is so cute...i really feel comfortable here although i am not from the area and i just happened to randomly pick this place for breakfast before flying home to Los Angeles. It seems like there were a lot of older people here for breakfast...families and older couples, very cute. The lplace itself is very open and even has an outside patio if you to eat outside by the street. The service is just excellent, our server was so nice. I ordered just a regular breakfast with eggs, bacon and bread, very simple but very delicious! the orange juice is 100% OJ which is even better because i am a fan of anything fresh! This seems like the type of place where I would go for breakfast every sunday and the server would know me by my first name type of place...my next trip to SF i will definitely come back here! Unfortunately i ran out of time quick because i had to catch a flight back to LA so i didnt get to fully enjoy this wonderful restaurant....i wish i had to time to sit back and relax and enjoy my delicious breakfast! I ordered the salmon salad, with sliced red onions, goat cheese, and red wine vinaigrette over field greens and it was Delicious! The salmon was fresh, which is always a pleasant surprise :) The decor is very classy and upscale, yet comfortable. I couldn't believe how clean this place was considering they have a band playing music every night. I just happened to catch the Motown group, and it was very entertaining. People were actually dancing on the dance floor, and the musicians were singing all over the place. read more

I was recently treated to lunch here by a client who could not stop raving about this place. Boy, what a disappointment this was. . .on so MANY levels. Everything for lunch was non-inventive and boring. So, I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries, it's a grill right, how can one mess that up??? Well they serve it on a store bought bun, with a pre-packaged chicken fillet and frozen fries that were undercooked garnished with a slice of onion, unripe tomato (it's freaking the end of July for crying out loud - get a ripe tomato!!!!!), pickle. Big yawn. I could have ordered at Burger King and had a better experience. The rest of the group had a Salmon salad which didn't really create much of a stir . .a dime a dozen menu. But with a hefty price tag. AAH, what else you ask???? Service - deserves no stars. I wasn't even sure who our server was. . .they seemed to change every time someone came to the table. The only constant was the server assistant who interrupted every time my iced tea glass went down one sip to refill it with warm tea. I'm not even going into the rest of the service errors as the final coup de grace came when the check was dropped before we had finished our entrees. That is a big old F! I may have wanted dessert or at least a chance to see the menu. Broadway Ave. certainly needed a high quality place but this is not it. The start is for the beautiful renovation of the room. Wow, I should have done my homework before eating at this restaurant. Yelp, shame on me. The restaurant has a great social setting. If you have ALOT of time to kill, then this is the place for you. They have live music with blasting heaters with booth seating, setting off an intimate vibe. The food is OK, taste and price-wise. The place was packed for a Wednesday night, so not everyone must think badly of this place. My PROBLEM was that our server charged us for entire meal on our credit card even though we had a gift card. Other than that mishap, our server was very courteous, and she was constantly checking on us. Overall - Hubby and I enjoyed the dinner, and we would hit up this spot again. read more

Motown Mondays! Was so much fun! Ok, warning for the young-club-bar scene kids out there. You guys wont probably enjoy it as much. Me and the BF went here on a Monday, which they call a Motown Monday. There's a band, Pure Ecstasy. They were pretty romantic! Sure, they are loud. But it was really fun for us. The crowd seemed to be in their 40's-50's. Decent people, well-dressed, friendly. Anyway, about the food. It's quite pricey. Satisfying, nonetheless. Steak, scallops, calamari. The cocktails are yummy! ;) The service, hmmm... they just seemed so busy, but very friendly. We didn't mind the food coming a little late since the band kept us entertained. Very satisfied :D Just ate here today for lunch and I was amazed...impressed :) We walked around looking for a place and nothing was sounding good to me...keep in mind I was so hungry I wanted to punch someone haha ;) damn blood sugar levels! Lol I saw someone at an outside table eating an entree and it looked amazing! I looked at the menu and was sold! Great californian cuisine and great selections to chose from. We sat down and it was an off hour for lunch so it wasn't crowded. Waiter was very professional and attentive ,very knowedgable and friendly. Now to the good part: FOOD!! ;) I couldn't decide because everything sounded amazing...! I ordered the grilled salmon with kalamata olives, fava beans, garbonzo beans, heirloom tomatoes of all colors, fresh basil, grilled to perfection! Mmm! He ordered the trout w a wine butter sauce and capers, with red bell peppers and green beans. Cripsy green beans and amazing flavor! (I love the word amazing I know haha). So yummy indeed! ;) And of courseeee at a restaurant like this, I knew the dessert would be superb!! =D We couldn't decide between pineapple upside down cake or fruit crumble, or neopaliton Alaska.. We chose the Alaska: a neopolitan ice cream scoop covered in light merenge and with strawberry sauce and chocolate sauce on the sides in pretty designs, sprinkled with chocolate flakes ! Yum! Everything here was presented so beautifully and that's very important to me ;) food is an art =) I took many pictures because it was so gorgeous... Atmosphere was nice..quiet, great old-time jazz playing, and nicely put together place. Music made a big difference :) And I heard they have Motown Monday nights and other nights with live music! The only reason that I can fathom is that people who read these reviews think that the service can't possibly be that bad and go there to find out. My recommendation: Don't let this restaurant waste your time. My husband and I have gone several times since it opened in the futile hope that the service would somehow improve. No such luck. Never again! We are not going to give them one more penny. Besides the excruciatingly slow service, the food runs from lackluster to marginally edible. 3.5 stars for you Broadway Grill! Ooohhh I got excited once I walked into the door. What a nice place. It has a second floor for private parties. I saw track lighting, a DJ sound system and a full band set. I guess this place can turn into a ballroom or something??? I need to check out what Motown Mondays is all about. Turn off with the bathroom. For a fancy looking place like this, I expected separate rooms for the women and gents. Instead they have it unisex. And only one on the main floor. I can see a line forming when this place gets busy. Excellent service! With one of the tastiest bread I've ever had. The food: For appetizers, we got the crab cake and calamari. Nothing special and I was a little disappointed with the crab cake. I got the pan seared bassa. I never had bassa before, I was a little nervous, but I really wanted fish at that moment. The fish was topped with olives, heirloom tomatoes and red onions (and did I tell you I like onions a lot? I do! Winner!) and side of cous cous. Yum! This pasta dish was savory with the added sweetness of the cranberries. I can tell it was boiled in a rich stock of chicken. I almost fell in love with the entire dish except that they drizzled it with a little too much olive oil. After awhile I couldn't tell if what was on my lips was oil or my lipstick. I'm keeping this place on my list and will come back when there's another opportunity. read more

1/15/08 - Ended up going back to Broadway Grill on the invite from the mgmt there. So Jen and i went back with not very high expectations based on our other experience there. Broadway Grill has changed management and it shows. Our food was much better than before - my lamb shanks were tender and flavorful, but the au gratin potatoes were a bit dry. Jen wouldn't let me anywhere near her steak so it must have been good. They have live nightly entertainment, the night we went there was a woman on a balcony crooning 70's soul and R&B. I'm told they have a hoppin' Motown Monday thing going on, haven't been but I would consider it. My only gripe - our Schramsberg was served at room temp! Yes! If you have the Schram on the menu, you best have at least one bottle chilled on the whim that someone orders it. 2/28/07 - I knew that dining here was going to be a bad experience from the moment we sat down and I saw my dirty wine glass - with some tiny bits stuck to the side of it and so much film on the glass it almost looked milky. The service was terribly slow. So. Slow. And bad. When we *finally* got the bill - the worst $154 (for 3 people!) I have spent in a while - we paid cash with 2x $100 bills. The waiter tried to not bring us change! Are ya kiddin' me? My steak was not bad, but I think I wouldn't have to try very hard to find better. read more

Update to my 11/7/2010 post where I described mediocrity with potential. Food remains average at best ( cool prime rib and mushy pasta). Took 45 mins from order to table although it was 6 pm and not crowded. Service well below average, with little professionalism. Poor value for the price. My 3 star posting from 2010 can not stand the test of time. I am afraid proximity to the airport hotels means tourists will continue to keep this place alive. I will not. Done! read more

The two stars are for the servers. They did a great job and were very attentive. The food here is not worth a star at all. I was skeptical entering the restaurant as it looked quite old and tacky. But thought I should give the food a chance anyway. Boy, how I regret my decision! Went there on a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately. On first look the booth looked ok but we later found that our seats were far from clean. We were served with complimentary freshly baked bread while waiting for our order. And the servers kept asking if we needed more which was nice, but on an after thought, wondered if they were trying to overcompensate the lack of quality food which was going to follow soon. We had ordered Crab meat pasta and Chicken Pappardelle pasta. First bite of the chicken and I wanted to spit it out. It had such a funky strong chicken taste and smell. The pasta and sauce were ok and I mostly had those minus the chicken as I was quite hungry and too tired to send the dish back. The crab meat stuffed ravioli pasta was disappointing as well. The crab meat had a weird taste. The veggies in the sauce didn't taste fresh too. Just glad that my husband and I didn't get any food poisoning. Maybe we shouldn't have ordered pasta at a grill place but then they shouldn't have it on their menu. After eating that I doubt the quality of their steaks too and would never return to this overpriced, below average place again. read more

Entertainment. It was like watching Jersey Shore before we got seated at our table. My co-workers and I were standing at the entrance of the restaurant when a white car pulls up really fast into the stall right in front of Broadway Grill. Out comes these two really buff meatheads who just start duking it out. Meathead #1 eventually got Meathead #2 on the ground and was pounding his face. As quickly as the fight started...it ended. They got back into the same car and drove off. I guess they were friends beating each other up? Admist all the excitement, we got seated at our table, center of the dining room, facing the open windows. The atmosphere of this restaurant comes off classy, jazzy, and cheesy at the same time. Classy for the cherry staircase, open kitchen, servers, and the clientele. Jazzy for the mood lights and band setup up in the alcove. Cheesy for the entertainer of the night who was impersonating Dean Martin. He had on the funniest looking toupee! Well, at least I thought it was because no one could really have such a ridiculous hairstyle, in this day and age! But a round of applause for him...good crowd interaction, good sense of humor, and a decent voice. I'll be honest, I was a bit apprehensive when I realized we were coming to Broadway Grill...due to the bad reviews on Yelp. But, I said i'd keep an open mind and decide for myself.... The service was great. Ice water and bread were brought to the table before anyone even asked. The bread was probably one of my favorite things tonight, only because it wasn't your typical bread & butter basket. They were little garlic butter buns. Great garlicky flavor, but even though the bread came out hot, it wasn't soft and fluffy. We were checked on by our waitress just enough, where it wasn't overbearing. The stars I could have given Broadway Grill took a downward dive when it came to my food. Food presentation was decent but it wasn't enough to save my palate. I ordered the brown buttered trout in lemon capers with string beans. Bland...I wanted to ask for tobasco or something to liven the flavor. The string beans that accompanied the trout had flavor, of butter. Anything cooked with butter is good, but the beans were overcooked and too soft. At least the trout wasn't overcooked and dry. That was about the only saving grace for that dish. Broadway Grill was a choice of my co-buddy and a disappointment....I should have listened to my fellow yelpers and suggested another place to wine and dine. Sure the service was great and Dean Martin fun, but the food was not up to par. However, if you are looking for a restaurant in the peninsula with free entertainment, this is it. Love going on a "date" night with my son as he is so easily amused... Thankfully, we came on Motown Monday! I had a hundred dollar gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket, so being a freebie made this dinner even better! We started off with an appetizer of raw ahi tuna and it was delicious! My son and I loved the delicate slices topped with a teriyaki cabbage slaw and crispy won tons. I ordered a freshly made drink...a greyhound with fresh grapefruit juice. It was really tasty. For dinner my son had the basse and I had the 14 oz. prime rib. I always order correct having my rib done rare (the only way to eat prime rib!) and it was perfect! I had it accompanied with creamed spinach and sauteed wild mushrooms. My son and I shared the dish and he loved it, too! His fish looked pretty delicious, but he ate it so fast, I didn't have a chance to try it! He said it was pretty good, moist, and flaky. His fish came with fresh green beans. During our visit, the waiter was especially attentive and made us feel welcome. The other patrons around us seemed like they were regulars because they all somehow knew each other and I appreciate a friendly atmosphere. The best part of this evening besides my date, was the live music. Without even knowing when I made the reservations, was this was Motown Monday! Well, right when we were finished with our delicious dinner, the singers and band started. They were awesome! They did a Stevie Wonder cover that sounded fabulous! My son and I also met the owner, Nick, and he gave us a wonderful dessert of some freshly made vanilla icecream and a sampling of some Valentine's cookies. The only reason for one star off was the loudness of the music. Thankfully, we were done with our dinner when the band started and we had plenty of conversation beforehand otherwise we'd have to yell at each other to hear. read more

You have to try the jalapeño hush puppies. They are delicious. Nice flat panel tv's for sport viewing. Nice dark wood and tall ceilings. Looks very historic. read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was pretty empty. We were seated right away and the hostess informed us we may want to sit on one side of the booth so we could get a nice view of the band that was set to perform. +1 for attentive and aware staff! I went with the scrambled eggs (omelete wasnt an option) with a side of chicken apple sausage and their potatoes. The eggs were fine, but the sausage was quite greasy and potatoes were average at best. The sourdough was nicely toasted but the rest of the meal was just average. Because the potato portion of breakfast is important to me, I'll have to go with a -1 here. My gf had the crab eggs benedict and she said it was fine also. But the saving grace was the pancakes we ordered. They were griddled just right and the butter was just enough to soak through without getting too heavy. +1 for nice cakes. What keeps this place from being a 4* was: 1) Just OK service. The waiter didnt bring us ketchup or hot sauce despite both of us ordering eggs. When we asked for both, he came back with just hot sauce. In his defense, a big group had just come in. But the restaurant was still at 20% capacity at best, so cant cut him too much slack. 2) $$$. We knew what we were getting into when we decided to come here but $50 for brunch for two people is silly. For half that price, I would rather go to Millbrae House of Pancakes and get food thats of at least twice the quality. read more

This place is definitely a 2-3 star place, period. I wanted to start my boyfriend's birthday celebration early so I took him here for the Dean Martin impersonator on Wednesday. I made reservations for this place through OpenTable with special a special request saying that it was my bf's birthday and that I'd like to have a Side Car waiting for him when we arrive. I called to make sure they would do this (and also to see if they could make a Sazerac but they don't) and they said they would. We show up, I had to initiate contact with the hostess (annoying) and there was no "Happy Birthday!" nor was there a Side Car waiting for him. We explained our concern to the waitress, she apologized and said "Happy Birthday". Drinks: Okay. Bf had an Old Fashioned. He asked the waitress for a specific type of whiskey and requested that it be served up. It was not. He ended up having Maker's Mark neat the rest of the night. I had their dirty Martini which was good; they use Tito's vodka and garnish with their supposedly house-made roasted jalapeno-stuffed olive. C Bread: They give you these little garlic-y bread ball things. They're cute, but not very flavorful (don't taste garlic-y for sure) and they're not served with butter on the side. D Food: We ordered the Prime Rib, which came out with our bread. That was like, 3 minutes after we had ordered it. I'm all about getting my food fast but that was a little too fast, kind of a turn off. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good. Parts of the crust were a little too salty (and I like salty) and yet the middle was quite flavorless. It's served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and veggies. It was okay. Complimentary chocolate "cake" for the bday. All i can say is it tasted like there was no effort put into it, nasty. D The manager eventually came over and apologized for what didn't happen and offered us a free limo ride home. This pissed me off because I had tried booking the free to-and-from limo ride for Burlingame/ San Mateo residents (which I found out about in the reservation confirmation e-mail) but the woman on the phone at Broadway said they were totally booked! Apparently not! We declined the limo ride because that would have just been a chore for us to come back to this shitty place to pick up my car. Sorry. The only enjoyable part of the night was "Dean Martin". He was really funny and he's a good singer, the only thing though is he sings over a tape, there isn't a live band there. My boyfriend requested a song and he sang it, he even sang "Happy Birthday" to him! At the end of the night, he gave my bf a signed photo/calendar! The night was good ONLY because of "Dean Martin". We will probably come back, but only for him. I can forgive the negligence of the special requests but overall, the food was not good. read more

I decided to come here on Christmas evening in place of serving dinner at home. We chose this restaurant for their preset 4 course Christmas dinner. The service was terrible, the food was painfully slow to arrive and when it finally did make it to our table we had to send it back to be properly cooked. We complained frequently to our waitstaff but he was unable to put any pressure on the kitchen. Reservations at 6pm and it took almost three hours to get through a horrible meal w/dessert. And I have had some 5star steak $$$ Service: Our waiter was amazing super attentive and fun We came on a Friday night so there was live music I was expecting more Jazz but it was more so Jazz mixed with other genres and music.. But definitely still had an amazing fun time, they saying went through the crowd and sang to the people even walked to the tables! I ordered the ribeye with mac and cheese. I also asked if they would ask the chef to put truffle oil ( amazing topper FYI) on the steak. It was so good that I had to come back the next morning to order it again lol! read more

Great waiter; and a very poor dining experience. Ordered the Dirty Tito - (dirty martini) had to send it back because it tasted like he forgot (?) the olive juice..... dirty means Dirty, doesn't it? Ordered the fried chicken and substituted the mac and cheese with seasonal veg (are green beans seasonal in January - maybe somewhere in Mexico or further south.) I got two very crisp pieces of chicken - there was a drum stick with a miniscule piece of thigh and the wing drum with some extra wing meat attached --- all shrouded in lots of almost burnt coating, and the grilled corn bread was raw in the middle with some frzn honey butter. The taste was fine but the value was meager. Probably an $8 plate for $21. It looked like the place had some repeats customers there so perhaps I picked the wrong thing - however - I will think twice about returning. Will definitely get my fried chicken somewhere else. read more

We go to Broadway Grill frequently because it's close to home. It has a great atmosphere. The live music is always fun. The food is excellent. The steaks and prime rib are really good. There are two negatives here: menu prices are high and the wine list is weak and over priced. If the wine list was better, maybe I could handle the entree prices. The place is always a little empty. A good sommelier would turn that around for them. read more

This place was fantastic. We came with a large party and ordered appetizers, drinks, entrees and dessert. Everything was served in a timely manner. All the food I ate was divine. My husband very much enjoyed his pasta dish and cleaned the plate on the Xanga dessert. I ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes which was cooked to perfection. We were there for Motown Monday which made the experience that much more exciting. The singers included everyone in the restaurant in the entertainment. I definitely recommend this place to people visiting the area or looking for a fun place to eat. read more
